When I approved, he said he would look around as it was a rare brand. The next day he informed me that he found a replacement board, there was only one place in the Triangle that carried it, and there was one in stock. He came back the next day with the board, replaced it, tested the system, and the problem was solved. He also made a minor repair on an area where there was condensation dripping from an uninsulated section of piping. Another valuable thing was that he noted that the board was still under its 5-year warranty by about four months. He did not charge me for the board even though he had to pay for it. He will return the board to the manufacturer and pursue the warranty himself. His price was in the range that Angie notes for replacing circuit boards. The range was to replace a circuit board on Angie was as $150 - $450 and he charged $209. The first visit, the service call to diagnose, was $153.

Unfortunately, their business model has changed from "honest and hardworking" to "opaque and manipulative." The Technical Issues: In 2020, Santa Air installed my trane system but failed to properly connect the emergency heat strips. I spent five winters wondering why my house wouldn't stay warm below 30°F. They missed this mistake during every subsequent maintenance visit over the 5 years. Recently, they tried to charge me $1,700 for repairs I didn't need. A second opinion confirmed their diagnosis was wrong; that technician fixed Santa Air's original installation mistake and the actual sensor issue for a total of $575. The Billing Issues: Their current pricing "tiers" (Bronze, Silver, Gold) are incredibly over-inflated compared to other local HVAC companies. And if you only need a repair included in the Gold tier, you have to pay for all the things you don't need in the tiers below it. When I realized the invoice was vague and the work wasn't needed, I cancelled. The Ethics Issue: The most disappointing part was the office's response. They tried to emotionally guilt-trip me. They held my refund hostage, telling me they would only return my money if I removed my negative reviews. Hired Chris to move our old water heater to a tankless and it was a disaster from the beginning, I…read morehired Chris to do the work, he sent 2 of his employees or subs to do the work. They didn't empty the something with the old water heater and that ended up flowing through our ceiling. Chris did the right thing and after many iterations was fixed. Just had our tankless serviced by a different firm and was told several issues should be addressed. First, The black gas line outside of the house going to the water heater needed to be painted to stop /slow corrosion, that wasn't done. The gas line going to the water heater in the crawl space is all incorrect and will require 4-6 hours worth of work to fix. I would have hoped Chris would have been onsite to oversee the job. He was not and I would guess he did not inspect the installation after being told it was completed. Just be warned.
