They were pulling at his head and mouth impatiently, using heavy hands the entire time. It was uncomfortable to watch and clearly distressing for my child. The second visit was even worse. After my son was given nitrous oxide, the dentist came in and immediately started poking at his gums before he was properly numb. Naturally, he began to cry, and instead of handling the situation with care, the dentist abruptly stopped and said she couldn't continue. There was no attempt to calm him or proceed more gently. Her bedside manner was extremely poor and unprofessional. To make matters worse, we were still charged for an incomplete visit, and the office continued to call us for follow-ups afterward, which felt very inappropriate given the situation. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this office. Please don't rely solely on the positive reviews.

I am your typical adult who avoids dental work because of bad dental experiences in childhood, so I needed two root canals when I first met her in 2016. I was terrified, turned out I also had an abscess, and she made two root canals and an abscess seem easy. No complications, out of pocket was more than doable for me (a public school teacher), and most important, she was gentle and kind. UPDATE 10/2020: Fast forward to 2020 during the pandemic and I'm pregnant, cracked the crown the dentist placed on Dr. Elmi's beautiful work, freaked out and tried to contact the dentist, but only Dr. Elmi cared to respond that Sunday evening. And only she cared to have me come in to assuage my worries that I would not swallow a shard of tooth and hurt my unborn child. She cared to file down the sharp edges until I found a nearby oral surgeon (I'll have to write his review next, great surgeon) who handled the rest. UPDATE 12/2025: In 12/2025 I cracked a decades-old filling on two teeth on the other side of my mouth. Went to a local dentist, and they saw two cavities that needed to be filled. I was in pain for a week and a half after that dental visit. The temporary crowns they did were so bad I had pieces of them stuck in my gums. They referred me to see an endo because of tooth #19, so I went straight to Dr. Elmi. Thankfully she is who she is, which is a dedicated, detail-oriented, compassionate human being, so she took the time to see why I was responding differently to her testing surrounding teeth. Come to find out tooth #20 needed the root canal. I had mild discomfort the day after that procedure, but I can see why. When I sat in the chair for my procedure, she asked me if I ate, and I hadn't, so she gave me Tylenol to pre-treat instead of Advil. The procedure was so gentle I still can't believe it. Afterwards she gave me this amazing super soft toothbrush to use around the area, and this homeopathic gel to apply if desired. It really helped, and these personal touches (in addition to being in the best endodontic hands in the world) are why I will never go anywhere else. I am also so grateful for how she conducts her business as well. Erik, the gentleman at the front desk, is amazing. Right after he checked me in he provided me with an estimate for the procedure. I really appreciated the fact that it was given upfront, because that day in particular my husband and I had made another large purchase, and I was limited with what I could pay that particular day. Erik went out of his way to help me that day, and people just don't do that anymore. Also, even though I've had a root canal before, I was still terrified. Karen, the Hygienist I believe who helps Dr. Elmi, is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and talking about our kids took my anxiety down about 10 notches. I appreciate people like Dr. Elmi more than I can articulate. If she ever changes careers, I will just get dentures!

Most places would still offer some assistance or recommendations, but Erik from this office just basically said they couldn't help me and didn't want to accept my PPO insurance? Maybe because they don't make enough money somehow from it? Not sure. My new dentist recommended this place and I guess it wasn't as good as they described. Dentists are all so greedy. After reading these reviews, I truly thought this office was different and maybe the exception. Turns out they are worse. Based on that first impression. Make sure to note, they only treat you "good" if you fit their mold or are able to get more money from you. Otherwise, they treat you like trash.
