Well, all my out-of-town guests and family in LA are addicted to the pies. They really are "grandma good." We've tried a bunch of the pie flavors after two years or living here and we can honestly say the homemade taste can't be beat. The pies aren't overly sweet--even the more decadent ones, like the chocolate and chocolate-peanut butter. The owners are lovely and eager to help you pick the perfect item. A great spot we mistakenly went to; we were looking for another dessert shop that had vegan options(which happened to be closed, anyway) and found this one. We had wonderful service from everyone but especially from a mature woman who was very helpful and accommodating. She suggested a take n bake, curry-based veg pot pie that was delicious, and a yummy ready-to-eat apple crumble pie. Okay here's the story. I was on fb looking at TehachaPie page. Mentioning that I like their pies, but they have no chocolate cream pies, banana cream pies. Then they replied back saying that they do have chocolate cream pies. He put a picture on Facebook so I decided we needed to go and taste for ourselves. Later that evening, we took a piece of the chocolate pie and OMG! That is the best chocolate cream pie. I have tasted at a very long time. Customer service was great. One kind women was very helpful. Very cute shop. I purchased a slice of lavender cheesecake to take home and one full banana cream pie. It was quite expensive. No big deal. They looked amazing and I have no problem paying for fresh pies. My cheesecake slice was frozen. When it thawed out, I took one bite and did not like it. I took another bite and no way was it for me. I could taste the freezer. It reminded me of a grocery store freezer pie or one that you forgot in your freezer. I just could try a third bite. Something about it wasn't right. I tried to serve the banana cream pie. It was a mushy mess. Impossible to get a slice out. I scooped it with a spoon and figured I'd eat it like pudding. But it was to watery. Almost wet. It wasn't a frozen pie or at least I didn't think I pulled a frozen pie out of their fridge. It was just to mooshy and watery that I could not eat it. I went for the first time today and I am absolutely obsessed. I have been on the hunt for an excellent strawberry rhubarb pie since my grandmother passed away nearly two decades ago. I have tried countless strawberry rhubarb pies and jams and none of them made the cut. That all changed today. For the first time in two decades I ate a pie that I would swear was made by my grandmother; who grew the strawberries and the rhubarb in her yard and made it all from scratch. We ate an entire pie this evening and I'm already planning our next trip. We tried multiple different things today and they were all amazing. Their TehachaPie is excellent, we bought a slice of it and will be buying a whole pie next time. They also have delicious homemade jams and even savory meals. We also bought their spinach topped manicotti, their cheesy pesto lasagna and their meat lover's quiche, which we'll be having for lunch and dinner tomorrow. It's an adorable shop with lots of cute, fun gift shop type items. Oh and so many tea options. Anyway, I'm obsessed. Walking into their store feels like walking into a shop you'd expect to see in Cambria, San Luis Obispo, Carmel or Napa. It's so cute and so full of fun, unique items. We will definitely be back and I'm excited to bring friends and family there when they come to visit. It's a solid ten out of ten. I wish we had more places like TehachaPie out here. Oh and I can't forget to mention how nice the owner was. He showed us around, gave us lots of samples and challenged our 8yo daughter to find the 5 (not so hidden) hidden roosters in their store and when she found them he gave her a cool looking lollipop. He wasn't the slightest bit pushy, but was very thorough in showing us what the best things are to try and what treasures we shouldn't miss. I felt like we had booked a specialty tour of a chic boutique and were some kind of VIP customers, but we weren't, we were just a random family walking through his doors. Such great customer service! Drove up from West Palmdale with my husband on our way to Tulare and we had to stop here. IT WAS AMAZING. Super cute and amazing gift shop. Hubs and I purchased a baked apple pie- it appeared undercooked so I looked on the box for directions to bake and eat. I ended up baking it at 400 for another 30 min. Love their concept, but either bake the pies longer or include heat in oven directions. read more

Visited Mill Street Kitchen on Friday 07/08/22. They were preparing to close as I was walking by. I was greeted with a friendly welcome into the store. I was introduced to all the products. The staff was adorable , sweet , and friendly. I felt the hospitality. I purchased 2 jams : berry and blood orange marmalade. They have a variety of jams. I purchased a slice of apple pie and the berry pie. The pies were delicious. The crust is buttery and melts in your mouth after every bite. You can definitely taste the love and that it is home made. I am definitely going to visit every time I am in Tehachapi. The pies are worth the visit and money spent. Please support this local shop. We'd heard so many positive comments about Tehachapie that we had to check it out. Upon entering their store, you experienced the charm of a gift shop at your local Crackerbarrel. The owners were super sweet and kind. You definitely sense their passion and pride for their business. Now the bad news. I spent about $60 on 2 pies and a small dinner entree. Now, my wife is an absolute pie connoisseur, and we could hardly wait until we got home to try our selections. I still remember us both digging into the mixed berry pie and looking at each other like....omg, this is unbelievably awful. The berry mix was okay, but the crust crumbled like sand in the Sahara desert, it tastes gritty, grainy, and gross. The aftertaste of the crust had an offensive old oil or lard taste. So we tried the second pie and asked each other what that crust was made of? We were both extremely bummed and ended up throwing everything away that we bought from Tehachapie. How do mess mess up a pie that looked so appealing. I really wanted to celebrate this business and may stop in again for a gift, but until they reevaluate their pies, they should probably call this place Giftehachapi. read more

These are substandard pies at superior prices. The apple pie was ok, it was better warmed up with ice cream but still not near the best pie I ever had. Then there's the fudge, it was ok but I asked for chocolate and all I could taste was maple. Today we decided to have the shepherd's pie for dinner, this just made me angry because the enormous amount of money we spent on two pies and piece of fudge. The shepherd's pie was about 80% carrots and corn with trace amounts of meat and potato. I wanted to go throw the pie at the building but my wife keeps me in line so I'll just warn all Irishmen that there is no shepherd's pie at Tehachapie! We first spotted TehachaPie at the annual Apple Festival in Tehachapi. They ran out of apple pies then. Fortunately, a couple weeks later, we discovered that they had a storefront. They sell more than pies. They've got an assortment of merchandise available for sale. I was only interested in the pies, but other family members have purchased other stuff during our two visits. I was all set to purchase their Apple Pie, but changed my mind at the last minute. I went with their Tehachaberry Pie instead cause it just sounded so cool. Happily, it tasted yummy. The mixture of raspberries and blackberries inside the delicious crusted pie was delicious! Look forward to eating their Apple pie in the future. read more

I was lured to this pie shop, by a billboard sign. I immediately went to find the pie shop, because I love pie! This is a cute little shop with pies, jams, and a lot of other cutesy things. I bought a slice of cheesecake, and couldn't wait to try it, once I got in the car. When I tell you, this was the worst cheesecake I ever had in my life; it was the worst! It didn't taste like cheesecake at all. I don't know what brand of cream cheese they are buying, but it is the lowest grade. Plus, it had a weird old texture. Like it was a week old. The cheesecake looked discolored. One bite was enough. I saved the rest for my daughter to try. She was disgusted. read more

Small lil shop on the street. They do so much marketing on Facebook that I had to try this place. We were in town so we got a few pies. We got the banana cream and french apple. The crust on the pies were not that great. Maybe I'm used to Marie Calendar pies? The crust was uneven on the outside and it just didn't do anything for me as far as taste, for either of the pies.
