I opted for an old fashioned, we chose to visit on a Wednesday to try the steak night. If you're thinking of steak, this may not be where you want to stop, unless you enjoy "alligator skin" I have my preferred spot where I get a steak meal for a reasonable price (about the same I paid here) but with much more flavor. Let's just say the comments I received after sharing the photo of my steak with people were amusing: "was the steak pre-chewed?", "is that alligator skin?", "did you return it?" I wish I would have opted to not eat it as it was like eating leather, at least leather has a nice scent. This steak was bland, even with adding additional salt to it. The baked potato was palpable, but nothing spectacular to write home about. For the cost of this ribeye steak, your best bet is just cooking it yourself or seeking any of the many other places around Houston that offer specials. Ambiance: The rooftop has a great vibe and a wonderful view of the Houston skyline! We were there about an hour, and the band was setting up the whole time. We didn't get to hear any live music unfortunately! It was hot outside, but the rooftop had a large fan above to keep everyone cool as best as they could! We came out on a Wednesday evening. The weather was perfect! Our goal was steak and socializing. They have enough parking in their lot to accommodate a week day crowd, and street parking whenever it goes overboard. They how to borrow on every floor, so there's usually plenty of space in the place to serve the masses. We camped out on the third floor balcony, and took over a table for seven. In addition to their normal menu, they have a seasonal cocktail list. They also have different evening themes like trivia, steak, or bingo. On various nights. We came for steak night. Cost wise and options, it comes across very well. However, they don't season their steaks at all. Or at least they didn't. On this particular night. I had to go and get packets of salt and pepper just to have some flavor. It was cooked exactly as it should be, it just had zero flavor. Do not recommend. The flavor was not changed at all by the chimichurri sauce, or garlic butter. Neither of those toppings had a lot of flavor either. It's really more oily than anything. Drink wise, I can rate highly. They're old fashioned from a solid, they had a seasonal gin cocktail that was pretty good, and I had a decent core of a 12-year whiskey that I enjoyed neat. It doesn't matter how far back you and Houston go, there is always a new place to check out. The area around Winter Street Studios and the Silos has really changed in the last 5 years also and Tejas Brewery is one of the newer places. This place is actually a lot bigger than I expected and has a good sized area dedicated to brewing along with a nice ground level for kids/dogs etc. and a very nice 3rd floor patio with a great video of the skyline (well at least for now until someone else builds something in front of it). Their beer is pretty good but their food offerings and other cocktails are apparently exceptional according to the other people in my group. I've been here 3 times for our monthly Book Club Meeting and love it. First of all, they have free parking which is a huge plus. As soon as you walk in, you can take either the stairs or elevator to the second floor and you can then sit indoors or outdoors with a great view of the city. Even though they are a brewery, they have delicious cocktails and I recommend the Tejas Bramble (Bluebonnet Gin, blackberry, lemon juice). For my meal, I've had the Loaded Nachos (Tejas Negra queso, refried beans, cabbage, pickled onion, chilis, pico de gallo, salsa verde, queso fresco, crema, cilantro) twice and will most likely order them again. Occupying the former space of a now defunct local craft brewery, Tejas makes a growing selection of beers while operating a taproom restaurant on the second floor. Vibe & Parking - 4.5* First and foremost, Ddn't worry for all the folks looking for incredible views of the downtown skyline, the third floor is very much the same. For those who are making a trek here from afar, there is a dedicated parking lot and there is some street parking if it's really busy, including the adjacent Sawyer Yards lot, which connects to multiple businesses. The vibe is a bit more low key than it once was, but it can get busy at the times you'd expect. It's a great place to catch a sports game while catching up with friends while enjoying views of downtown. Food & Drink - 3.5* I have visited occasionally since Tejas took over all of the assets, but notably not as often as the previous tenant since their beer selection is far more limited, but there is enough for just about any flavor type you're going for. Clara - a crispy bright beer, Light - crisp & light, Negra - an amber style, IPA - hoppy & bright, Hazy IPA - very citrusy, less fruity for a hazy, Hefeweizen - banana forward, and a Coffee Porter to name most of them. In addition to the beer selection, they offer cocktails featuring spirits from their parent company, Giant Texas Distillers. A few are the blackberry smash, old fashioned, gold rush, and a manhattan for whiskey based drinks. For vodka, one can get a martini or a mule. For gin, they have the lavender bliss, Texas bramble, or a southside. And for rum, mojitos, coladas, or a twist on a carajillo. For the food, they have a diverse menu from small bites to full entrees - sliders, pretzel bites, fried pickles, tripe dipper to pizzas, wings, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, quesadillas, salads, and wraps. Now, overall, I don't find any of their beer to be fantastic, but it's good enough when you're looking for a good vibe with some friends. The food is about the same. There is nothing I have had personally yet to just absolutely rave about, but nothing has been in the wouldn't ever order it again. I'd personally recommend the pizzas, wings. or burgers. Some of the limited edition sandwiches are worth a shot. On our most recent visit some friends ordered a World Cup menu special sandwich they really liked on the other hand while the smoked brisket tacos were pretty middle of the road. We also grabbed a fried chicken sandwich, which as per the norm, was nothing to write home. Overall 3.5* for the set. I found the menu and food of rhe old brewery more appealing and delivered better taste and quality. Service - 4* I've never had to wait too long at the bar for a drink or at the table to get more water or place an order. They're pretty good at service in my experience. Cost - 3.75* Their drink specials can be worth a visit while grabbing a bite while I personally find most of the food prices to be $3-4 more than they probably should be for the portion and quality served. It's rough times out there for breweries so I do understand seeking to make their margins on the food side of cutting the beer cost to get you in the door. For example, happy hour has $4 drafts as of summer 2026, which is great. So support your brewer, order some food. The market is harder and more saturated than ever and thus why we see so many closing up. Overall - 3.75* I've shown this with the bump since we can't rate more finitely however I'll say this is a place nearby for me, offers a menu that tends to offer something for everyone, a plethora of TVs, and great views. Our gathering was on the third floor. The view of Downtown is spectacular. The live music was too loud so it was hard to have a conversation. This is a great hang out spot or even a date night spot. The first floor has a bar and does tours. Second floor has a full sit down restaurant. Third floor is the roof top with a bar and amazing view. You can also get food on the third floor but have to order it at the bar. We had a great first visit to Tejas Brewery! Everything we tried was so tasty. I got a beer flight and honestly couldn't even pick a favorite--they were all that good. My boyfriend got the coffee porter and really loved it too. We also ordered the elote mac and cheese balls, and they were delicious (the marinara sauce they were served with was such a good touch). My second visit and it was just as amazing as the first. Parking is a breeze (today we actually parked at the Silos and walked since we planned to visit the art studios after brunch). Saturday at 12:30 there were plenty of available tables. Our waitress was super sweet and perfectly attentive. We spilt the birria tacos, chilaquiles, and hash browns. It was all freaking amazing and steaming hot. Plus, reasonably priced. The tacos were a bit greasy, but I decided I didn't care because I'd already blown my diet. The bloody Mary's are also really good especially for HH eight bucks. I also like that there are three different levels because I tend to like to change my views. We ate at the restaurant and came up to the top for a beer where service was just as friendly. I really love this place. read more

By far our favorite brewery in Houston. The whole experience was great from start to finish. My husband and I arrived by Uber and were immediately greeted by the downstairs bartender. When she heard it was our first time there, she gave us an explanation of each floor and recommended we check out the top floor due to the view. You are not going to get a better view than that! No other brewery that I have been to has a view like that and I have been to quite a few in just about every state. My husband started with a margarita, and then had another cocktail before topping it all off with a beer. We shared fried pickles and a chicken sandwich with fries. The food was great and came out quickly. All of the staff was great, especially the two guys that were working the top bar. My dad and I visited Tejas Brewery on a rainy day when he was in town and was disappointed to learn that the third floor was closed due to the weather which meant no great views. It was happy hour when we were there which meant apps (excluding some like wings) were buy 1, get 1/2 off the second. We started with drinks (wine and the margarita) and then ordered two apps. The drinks weren't great but we should've ordered beer considering it was a brewery. The friend pickles were meh and I wouldn't recommend them but the nachos were fantastic and would be something I order every time! Our server was always checking on us and very helpful which was appreciated. This is a spot I'd visit again on a day with great weather for some beer, apps and live music but otherwise won't be on my re-visit list. read more

Food came out in 30 minutes which was great considering how busy it was. The chicken fajita pizza and buffalo wings split among 3 was spot on. The pizza was surprisingly delicious... def recommend that one. I will say they need to add a fan in one of the top floor rooms, and maybe a few more seats. I was excited to try out Tejas as it is taking over the previous space of Buffalo Bayou Brewery, which I quite enjoyed. I was interested to see how the new owners of Tejas would revamp or improve on the experience. First impressions were that not much has changed in the vibe of the place, except the rooftop tables are now low-rise, which do not allow you to see any of the skyline that you would go to a roof-top spot for. This was an unwelcome change from the previous experience. This was also Saturday night of opening weekend, and it was not fully packed although many patrons were present. A DJ was also present who blasted EDM/dance music at a volume too loud for us to enjoy our conversation but with no dance floor or anyone dancing. Thankfully, he left an hour after we arrived and the vibe was much improved. The food was excellent, however, as my grilled chicken sandwich was cooked to perfection. The menu appears to be American and Tex-Mex inspired with pretty basic options (but palatable to the masses). Service was friendly and quick. I do not drink but my friend enjoyed the beers (currently there are only 2 options), but there are now liquor options. Overall, a cozy spot with a lot of potential. It seems that when they rebranded a lot of the character was taken out. There are not very many beers on tap but they have added vodka along with some other spirits.
