Tejas Brewing has the view and the liquid lineup to impress. But on this visit, the food lagged and so did the service. I noticed they changed the menu up from my last visit (a couple of weeks ago). It was lunchtime time so there wasn't a rush but it was hard to get the server's attention. The fries that come with the chicken sandwich were cold, small, and bland. The tacos which I normally get because they are big and their taco sauce is killer, weren't on the menu. Instead what I saw was "street tacos", smaller tacos for the same price, "shrinkflation", if you will. I'm hoping they course‑correct soon and bring back what made the menu memorable. Finally stopped by this hidden gem. I love me Some beer and definitely like to support local breweries. If you go you must try the Coffee Porter and the Old Fashion is a great follow on. The food wasn't your typical bar food. The pretzel bites with queso are a great starter and the Birria Tacos were out standing. The service was stop on as well. Tejas Brewery is hands down one of my favorite spots in Houston. They're the only place I know that carries Momo Michelada mix with their beers, and if you haven't tried it, don't knock it till you do! It's a carrot-based Michelada mix (not tomato), and I promise it's absolutely incredible. I literally drive all the way from Katy into Houston just for that mix and their beers because it's that worth it. On top of that, the staff is always so kind, welcoming, and just genuinely nice every single time I come in. The space itself is also super unique, the brewery has three different levels, and each one has its own vibe, so it's always a fun experience no matter where you hang out. The ambiance of this brewery is 10/10. I really liked the rooftop area where it's open seating because the weather was really nice. I liked that there were three stories to the place where the first floor was just drinks and outdoor picnic benches, the second floor had actual food for more of a dining experience, and the third floor was open air seating with more drinks. I googled this place because I had it on my list as a brewery I wanted to visit. Let me start by saying I enjoyed the fact that there was a lot of parking available which is a plus going to places in Houston. When I walked in I was greeted by staff and the informed me about what was located on each floor. The elevator took several minutes as staff stared it operates really slow. Since the reviews spoke about the rooftop views I had to go to the third floor. When you arrive you there are tables available and the views are amazing. The food smelled good and I kept seeing people order burgers and wings. I tried the barbecue wings ($22 for a 12 piece) they were seasoned and the sauce was good. I also ordered the a fish taco and a shrimp taco. I would not order again as it was very fishy. Not to mention it was $18 which was over priced as the tacos seemed to missing something. The sauce was weird don't waste your money. I did enjoy my drinks as I ordered a flight of beer and a Gimlet. I also tried the margarita and it had no flavor and very watered down. The music was good and it's a place you can bring your friends and kids. Overall I would come back and order wings and try the burger. Definitely give that place a try. read more

I like going to places where I don't have to circle the block several times looking for a open spot or where I have to pay for valet service and risk somebody scratching my car. I counted 84 parking spaces in the parking lot at Tejas Brewery and there was also plenty of free street parking available. I found an open spot right by the front door and walked right in. I was meeting up with a large group of friends there. We were offered a tour of the brewery and some of us went on it. There was plenty of room for all of us in our group, as well as for everyone else who showed up, since the place has three floors. The view of the downtown Houston skyline in the distance from the third floor was great for taking pictures while the second floor was the one that I preferred to spend most of my time in as it was enclosed with air conditioning and offered full food service. It also had much more of a formal dining ambiance than the first and third floors. Several of us got salads or tacos while others just ordered drinks. I got the Tejas Southwest Tex-Mex Salad. It hit the spot. I appreciated that they also had outdoor tables on each floor to free up space inside. The elevator was a bit slow but I didn't mind taking the stairs, instead, since I'm quite used to walking up and down five flights of stairs at my office building several times a day. There was some noise from an occasional train rolling by outside and I noticed some families there with toddlers but there was only one time that I had to stop walking so that I wouldn't stumble over one of them while she was exploring. A DJ showed up after awhile and started playing music on the third floor. More people started showing up after that. One of the best things about this place was the amount of servers and bartenders readily available to help everyone place their food and drink orders. read more

Different company, same great view. You always need to go to the third floor to enjoy the downtown skyline view with a beer and their great food. I have not really known any other part of the place than the 3rd floor patio. I lied, the bathroom in the third floor is very clean, think Buc-ees level clean. Having a full bar and beer on tap, you will surely enjoy any drink with a meal, I recommend the steak fajitas paired with a pint of Tejas Clara, and just sit back, relax, and enjoy that skyline. read more

The service was amazing both at the downstairs bar/patio and the second floor restaurant. We moved upstairs due to the cold weather. The food was delicious we got the pretzels and street tacos. The beer was good different than the old brewery that use to occupy the space . Definitely worth the trip to check it out plenty of parking and the city views don't disappoint. The Tejas Brewery & Taproom is an amazing place for great beer (and has a full bar), great tood options, and an extraordinary view! I've been there for lunch, dinner, events/receptions, and drinks with friends, and I've enjoyed it each time. The beers are high quality and great tasting (I like both the Clara and the Negra depending on my mood). I was very excited they repurposed this space and this restaurant will be great one day just need a few changes. I came here on a Saturday and I know with it being the weekend it's going to be busy, but I felt they could have been more prepared. First, the top floor needs more fans and definitely more seating. They took out the bar seating that overlooked the city and I think it would be smart to add that back or smaller tables in the front. Second, they need to hire more staff and be more staffed during the weekends you could tell they were short staff and the staff was beyond helpful, but you could tell they were struggling with not having enough people working. Lastly, they closed the kitchen down when we're there and they would not let anyone put in any food orders until 4pm so it made us leave and go eat somewhere else. Also, they advertised that there mimosas were $6 on Saturdays and Sundays but they were ringing them up at $9. I would give it a few months before heading over here to check it out just to give them a few months to get it together. We will be back eventually. read more

Came here the other night, the view is AMAZING!! We got some of the draft beers, triple dipper (queso, salsa, and guac)and the tacos. Both were really good. One thing I was disappointed about was the wait time. It took us 20 minutes to get the appetizer out and another 20 minutes to get the tacos. Because this brewery is 3 stories, I'm guessing there is one kitchen for the entire place. The food was great don't get me wrong, I just wish that they had quicker service. read more

Last time we were here it was another brewery (Buffalo Bayou) and the new Tejas was fantastic and didn't disappoint; a nice upgrade in all areas from what we remember of previous owners/place. The kitchen is serving up some amazing flavors and we were informed that everything was made in house (no out of the bag junk) and that they used avocado oil over cheap cooking oils! This location was previously known as Buffalo Bayou Brewery. When my husband and I heard a new brewery had recently opened at the exact location, we had to come back and check it out. They have their own distillery in Houston, Gian Distillery, to make cocktail bases. I tried a Cactus Martini--it's a good choice for summer! I didn't remember what beer my husband got, but the mouth texture was very soothing. Burgers here are great! We will come back! read more

They up charged $2 for side item that came with chicken flautas meal when the menu clearly says your choice of side. All sides all $6 except one that is $4.
