I had expectations for this place. I read an article about it and decided to try it out. It's not like you're a typical barbecue spot where you get to choose a meat and sides. Well actually you can but it's à la cart (not so much a meal). I had the chopped brisket sandwich. The bun was hard. As a side, I had broccoli cheese casserole. It was doable... I decided to try their chocolate. I had the campfire. The ball was big...I love chocolate but it was way too rich. most of the chocolate balls are only filled with chocolate ganache. I feel the centers could have been different. Most of the ball still have different types of toppings. For example, the campfire ball was chocolate inside and out just with a few miniature marshmallows on top. This place takes a 15% "service fee"- The tip... it's on the menu (tiny tiny print at the bottom). I didn't realize that until after I read the receipt and looked back at the menu. read more

We had a bunch of stuff recently ordered and picked up from Tejas Chocolate Craftory: chips and queso, brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, bacon cole slaw, pinto beans. DAMN GOOD. Listen carefully: starve yourself for 24 hours and then chow down. Because even if you don't starve yourself, you will still chow down and then feel like you're going to pass out due to a food coma. Chips were excellent. A bit of spice and lots of crunch. Passed on the queso after one dip because I knew that my lactose intolerant belly would not survive if I kept going back. Indulged on the pulled pork. Once. Twice. And yet a third time. So good. Potato salad was perfect. Ate more than one helping of that, too. Bacon cole slaw is different than any other you've tasted: thickly shredded cabbage with a kick. A definite kick, and that also called you back silently for more. Everything was packed and labeled perfectly so it could be easily heated up or served when we were ready to sit down to show what gluttons were really hidden within us. We had ribs, smoked sausage, brisket tacos and a very tasty Bloody Mary. They served the Bloody Mary with burnt ends, olives and beans. So freaking good!!! We did buy chocolate after lunch. They have fun kinds all differently decorated. Service was great. There's definitely a line ( probably for the tastiest Bloody Mary ) but it went fast and our food didn't take long. I took too long to try this place. Way too long. I loved everything we tried, my husband and I visited today with my father. The place is so cute, Spring is beautiful! People working there are super friendly, and nice. I love they make chocolate!! They have a lot of interesting flavors, and yes IT IS GOOD. We tried the queso with chicharrones instead of chips, this was very tasty, nice flavor on the queso and consistency, fresh pico. The burnt ends (beef) OMG so smoky, so fatty but in the best way possible, just big chunks of meat I wanted to stuff my face with, so yeah give it a try, you won't regret it. We also tried the pulled pork, I loved how the flavor of the pork is enhanced with some pickles, super tender also. The links, just wow! Spicy, super flavorful and so cheesy!! I just saw this business reviewed on one of the food channels. Immediately I told my husband that we needed to visit TODAY in the rain and all! So I ordered the Brisket & Blues sandwich for myself and The Good Texan for my husband. The prices were a bit steep for just a sandwich....that being said...they were both tasty. We ordered them and requested a pickup time. We arrived at that time, but the food was cold. I only give 3 stars because the sandwiches were not warm and were a bit pricey for just a sandwich. I'm glad we tried it, but I'm not sure that I would drive 25 min again for 2 sandwiches that were almost $20 each. I give 4 stars for the BBQ sauce. read more

We gave this place another try today (October 11th) after not visiting since they first opened in 2015 ~ when I unfortunately found a hair in the condiments back then. I really wanted to give them a fair second chance, especially with all the great write-ups and the awards and Texas Monthly features over the years ~ from being ranked #6 in 2017 to earning more mentions since ~ I really wanted this visit to change my mind. Unfortunately, it didn't. We ordered two brisket sandwiches (mine lean with bark, my husband's moist with bark), plus green beans, macaroni salad, tea, and water. Our total was $49.52. When we checked out, the Server, Elizabeth turned the iPad screen around and the first thing that popped up was a tipping prompt ~ before we'd even received our food or had any interaction beyond ordering. That just feels off; a tip should reflect service, not be expected upfront. Unfortunately, my sandwich was extremely salty. I added barbecue sauce to it. For the record, good barbecue shouldn't need barbecue sauce ~ and I only added sauce in hopes of masking the saltiness of the brisket. I went to the counter to mention it and was told by the Server, Elizabeth that it was probably because I ordered it with bark ~ which I've done for years at countless BBQ places, and it's never been this salty. Then another staff member (the bartender) chimed in to say the same thing, which felt a bit unnecessary and dismissive. I wasn't looking for an argument ~ just wanted to exchange it for something I could actually eat. Also, my husband's sandwich was salty and dry. They offered to swap it for something else. I'm not a rib or sausage fan but I chose sausage, but before it even came out, I realized ~ why stay for something I didn't want anyway? The sides weren't great either: green beans with no flavor and macaroni salad was dry and very light on mayonnaise. After we left, my husband called and spoke with the manager (Trey, I think), who said he wished we'd stayed so he could "make it right" and mentioned their many awards. But the issue wasn't about accolades, it was about attitude, flavor, and value. But we were already gone ~ and honestly, the right thing would've been to refund our money. For a place with such a strong following and reputation, the food, high prices and service just didn't match the hype. I expected better food, service, and hospitality. 5 stars for the sides and service, 4 stars for the barbecue and ambiance, 1 star for the chocolate. I had some family visiting from out of town, and I wanted to give them a Texan barbecue experience. Most bbq joints are closed on Mondays, but sadly, a Monday was the only time we could get together for lunch. This was one of the few bbq joints that was open on a Monday (a huge plus), but my cousins picked this location over the other (Rudy's) for the promise of both barbecue and chocolate. While the barbecue was great, the sides were EVEN BETTER - don't miss out on the Carrot Souffle. It may not sound like the most appetizing option, but this is a must-try: you'll have to trust me on this. On the flip side, the chocolate was a miss. Chocolate is in the restaurant's name and in the brightly lit glass case as soon as you enter, so expectations were high. The chocolates are all beautifully decorated and adorably named. However, even though everyone in my family tried a completely different flavor, we all agreed that our chocolates were way too rich and sweet to the point that the flavors were overpowered. I was looking at their reviews, some 1 star were about price. I may have to agree on the price. It is a little bit pricey. However, I really enjoyed the brisket and the beef ribs. I guess sometimes you just need to pay in order to get what you paid for. I also heard that this place sells out too, but luckily we were there early. Following a recommendation we tried this barbecue joint and were impressed. The service on entering was cordial and very helpful. We ordered a glass of wine and one of their draft beers. Our order or pork belly, brisket, pork rib and turkey, with sides of a baked potato and coleslaw. The food was outstanding the pork belly and brisket was on point and full of taste. We went and visited this place. Extremely long line gave me hope that it's was good food. Well. The food had good flavor but cable out room temp. I ordered the chop beef baked potato which should have been hot by its self. It wasn't. Not even hot enough to melt the cheese. The boudin was ok just a lot of smoke flavor not much more. The chicharron plate was amazing good but cheese was cold. My son ordered sliced brisket and the same meat was room temp. The bacon coleslaw was gross. Like I said the food had flavor but came out cold. And once we ordered me got our food pretty quick so I feel that it was sitting somewhere under a lamp . With the unorganized ordering process and cold food I would not recommend this place to true BBQ connoisseurs! read more

I find it really hard to drive far for bbq since I think we have a lot of pretty good bbq joints close to us, but we were in the area so we decided to swing by. There were 4 of us on a weekday afternoon and we were third in line. What's cool about this place is that they also have a chocolate shop that serves espresso drinks, but we were mainly here for the bbq. The set up is simple, theres a walk up counter and they give you a buzz when the food is ready. The young lady behind the counter was super friendly. There is a condiment table with all sorts of pickles, bbq sauces, etc in the back right next to the pick up window. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but it's summer time so we opted to sit inside. They play some good music too, which made the visit much more pleasant. For food we god some brisket, half rack of pork ribs, pork belly, chile relleno sausage, carrot soufflé and their seasonal veggie. The brisket was good, but we've definitely had better - it was moist enough but just felt like it was missing something. The sausage was good. The pork belly was ok, and I truly wish we didn't get that. The best thing we ate was probably the pork ribs. The sides were also good - the soufflé was probably our favorite. We also got some chocolate balls - I got the oatmeal cookie. It was good, but if I ever come back I will probably skip that. Overall I think this place is a solid choice (3.5 stars) for bbq, but I wouldn't drive all the way here for it. If I'm ever in Tomball again, I might hit it up. They were in Texas monthly's top 50 a few years ago, so you know you're at least getting some legit Texas bbq here! read more

Walking up to this old house, it smelled amazing! there was someone at the door to greet me and open it for me. I also enjoyed the vibe that the music was pumping out. Walking in, I noticed lots of touches of nostalgia. There were metal signs and retro coolers with local beverages on display. This house was built in 1906 and according to management, is haunted. I didn't see any ghosts myself. But then again, my order was to go. So I was there for 10 minutes total. I ordered brisket, chicken, sausage, turkey, and 6 chocolates. I loved all the flavors except the turkey, so let's start there. The turkey was moist and tender but not nearly the same flavor as everything else. However, Tejas has a BBQ sauce that is like the juice from your favorite chili and BBQ sauce combined. This sauce is worth the trip alone! It goes very well with the turkey. And my experience of the turkey was elevated by 100 with the sauce. The white meat on the chicken was a little dry. But I did get there at like 4 in the afternoon and it sat for a minute before I was able to taste it. The longer cut chicken breast sits warm, the more juice it loses. It is sold by the half chicken. Each half is plated and quartered. I prefer to portion my own so I will ask for that next time. This could have also solved the dry white meat. Anywho, the chicken was delicious and flavorful through and through. They also make a Verde Q BBQ Sauce that is excellent with the chicken. This sauce would also be the bomb on breakfast tacos! I'm stoked that I have extra. The brisket was incredibly tender. It had an amazing bark, the smoke ring was beautiful, and the fat was caramelized perfectly within the meat. This was a decadent consumption experience and I rank it a 10 out of 10 easily. Now... my favorite BBQ is smoked sausage. This now beats Lockhart for my favorite all-time sausage and both sausages are equally amazing. We had Chile Relleno, which is the ultimate rich sausage and cheese experience. And we had the Kielbasa which was excellent and perfect in flavor, juiciness, crisp skin, texture, and smoky flavor. Both sausages had 1000 out of 10 on all of the smoked sausage judging points. I would come here just for sausage and order extra. I did order some chocolates. They are beautiful. But I have only tried one so far. I had the Oatmeal Cookie. It was like a white chocolate cream cheese truffle with a fudgy texture on the inside with sweet cinnamon oats on the outside. I would give this one an 8 out of 10. I tried Tejas Chocolate Craftory for the first time on Friday. The chocolate is pretty good but pretty expensive, $5 for each Truffle. I bought two boxes of 4 truffles ($40 of just chocolate) one as a gift. I had the Oreo, Snickerdoodle, Hazelnut, and Salted Caramel truffles. All of them were good except the salted caramel which was a little too salty. We had a few people with us so we ordered around $150 - $160 worth of BBQ I believe. The chicken was average, the brisket nachos were great but the actual Brisket was too damn salty. I've never had that much brisket be salty, we ordered 2 pounds. The brisket on the nachos wasn't salty but the actual brisket we ordered was. Honestly don't plan on coming back after spending that much money. I understand they may have had a bad batch but when someone spends that much money and has driven this far you don't wanna risk trying it twice. For my Birthday Celebration this year we booked a room and met up with Family & Friends at "Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue" in Old Town Tomball for a night of Drinks, BBQ & Dessert. I scheduled all this through Brittney at Tejas and she placed us in a Private Room for 13 of us. My Wife and I arrived early and some of our Guests were already there enjoying some of their Drafts. Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue is set up a little different with different private type eating areas all around. We were greeted by Bryan & Brittney, chatted with them for a while and picked up a couple of Draft Beers and shown to our room already set up and some Guitars hanging on the wall for decor - nicely done. Stormy is our Server and we informed her that the others will be arriving soon - and they did. Tejas also has an outdoor patio area for your enjoyment on those Beautiful Texas Evenings. Brittney stopped in and introduced herself to everyone - she's Funny and explained a lot about Tejas to everyone. Scott Moore Jr also stopped in and thanked us for choosing Tejas and spoke to all of us. Scott is one busy guy - he not only has Tejas Chocolate & Barbeque, but also Tejas Burger Joint on Main, just a block from here - and he is always working on something else to provide you with all this Deliciousness. Lots of Food was ordered and Lots of Food was Served - and Drinks were being ordered throughout the evening - including another round for us - they do have some Really Good Drafts here. Our Food started arriving and it all looks Delicious. My 'Bird & Bacon' is served Open Faced and there is a lot of Thick Sliced Turkey and Thick Sliced Fresh Avocado sitting on top with lots of other Goodies. My Wife stuck a Candle on top of my Sandwich and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me - and I joined in. This 'Bird & Bacon' is AWESOMELYLICIOUSNESS and Loving that Fried Egg on top. This is one of their most Ordered Sandwich and I can see why. The Turkey is Very Flavorful and the entire Sandwich is Very, Very Tasty. My Wife Loved her 'Brisket & Blues' (without the Blues) - she said it was Really Really Good and ate the entire thing. Tejas BBQ Sauce was around the table and being used on all this Deliciousness - and it is Mighty Good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and talked about how Tastuy everything was. Tejas Chocolate & Barbeque knocked this one out of the House - and there is more to come. This is "Tejas Chocolate" - and they have 'Chocolate', so, my Wife went and picked out some of their Chocolate and Stormy sliced them in half for all of us to enjoy Dessert. This was served on a tray and Bryan explained what each one was named and what they consisted of. The tray was passed around and we all took a couple slices. The Chocolate is the 'Creamiest-Richest' Chocolate-Liciousness you will ever have. We devoured it all - None Left. Tejas Chocolate & Barbeque is listed and has been listed as one of the Best BBQ Places to eat in Texas - and they have Chocolate. This was One Awesome Time and a Great Way to Celebrate your Birthday. Brittney & Stormy earned the Very Special "Ten-Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going Above and Beyond the norm and Loved it. Tejas Chocolate & Barbeque was the right place for this get together. This place is located in old town Tomball. It has an old town feel for sure. The restaurant is a former house that's been converted to a restaurant. There is indoor/outdoor seating available. The cashier was very helpful and patient and he recommended some items along with their craft beers. Great service. The food was quickly delivered to the table where I first tried the pork ribs . They are amazing. I felt like I tasted coffee in the rub, but I'm sure I'm mistaken.. whatever it is, it's delicious and was the highlight of the items ordered. The brisket sandwich was g good, but I felt I should have ordered it sliced instead of chopped. The baked potato was good. The carrot souffle was amazing.. tasted like sweet potato souffle..they could've put it in a pie crust and told me it was sweet potato pie and I would've believed them. Highly recommend. Btw, I didn't buy any chocolate.. I did consider it, but the barbecue was enough. Maybe on the next visit I'll order it read more
