Why did it take this long to visit this place!? I have no idea but I finally did! We came here after craving some good ol' BBQ on a slightly chilly night. This spot is a hidden gem indeed so make sure you have your eyes out looking for it along 249. The parking is small and near the main door, walking in we were greeted by their staff. Their menu options are quite simple but that's only because their BBQ makes it up for the rest. I ordered the ribs and brisket with a side of mac n cheese and green beans while my SO went with their ribs and pulled pork with two mac n cheese sides. When I say I was impressed, that is an understatement. Their ribs were meat falling off the bone, their brisket was nicely moist and their mac n cheese made me regret not ordering a second side of it. Overall everything was delicious! Wasn't really sure what to feel about this place, as I googled the bbq places around in Tomball. Saw they had a 4.5 rating and figured we should try it. It was honestly delicious. Called & picked up a loaded brisket potato on a whim. SO delicious! My order was ready when I arrived. The bbq sauce is probably the best I've had. Typically I don't like or eat bbq sauce. Family run business and since Covid there hasn't been chicken fried steak like no other. That's the only thing I can think of that would make it a solid 10! Please add the CFS back on pretty please. Just moved from Cali and have been on the hunt for the best local bbq spot in Houston. Back in CA we had one pop up that was authentic Texas (owner from Austin) bbq so that has been our benchmark since moving. Sadly this spot is Arguably is one of the worst bbq We've ever had. Me and the wife were in the area after seeing a movie and wanted some good bbq. The other spot we wanted to visit was closed for New Years. I never judge a book (restaurant) by its cover as I've had many great food spots that on the outside don't look appealing. We walked in and immediately ordered, brisket was cold, overcooked and super dry. Pulled pork was even worse--told the wife I could've thrown the piece they gave me and broke a window probably (no joke it was that hard) No wonder they give free beer here, I won't be back. I have visited this restaurant twice within the past two weeks. It's located on the east side of Hwy 249 about 1 mile north of Tomball. It has its own parking lot that has a fake large black bear greeting you at the entrance. Walking in past the screen door you turn to the right to order at the counter or turn left into the dining room. On my first visit I got the 1/2 chicken with sides of pinto beans and potato salad. With a large drink and tax the bill was $13.52. The chicken was very good as it was juicy and flavorful and decent sized (4). I also liked the beans and potato salad and graded them both a 3.5. It was a good meal and I decided on a second visit before I would give an overall score. The next visit was yesterday for lunch and on this visit I asked for a brisket sandwich meal that comes with one side and drink. I chose cole slaw and after tax I received a little coin change from my $10 bill. The sandwich was advertised as chopped beef and I asked for the brisket to be sliced and moist which they did. Going into the simple rustic cowboy themed dining room, I started with the sandwich. After the second bite, I decided that the meat was a little tough and chewy. I didn't expect higher end brisket here with the price I paid yet I had to chew more than expected. I then realized that I should have let them chop the beef instead of slice which would have made the sandwich better. The meat did have a nice smoke taste to it so it wasn't a fail and I gave the sandwich a 3. The cole slaw was good and crunchy. I liked it and graded it at a 3.5. I give this place a 3 because I think it is a-ok! You will get a good meal here at a reasonable cost. Yes it's not high end BBQ but then you don't pay for it here or have to wait in line. Actually, I believe this is more of a 3.5 place to eat but round down for a Yelp purposes. Just remember the chicken is very good, the sides very decent and chop the beef on the sandwich. Nothing fancy here with the decor and you are reminded of that when you leave and the screen door closes behind you, the cowbell attached to the door announces your departure. read more
