With so many restaurants to choose from in Bishop Arts, it can be hard to decide where to eat. But when in doubt, Tex Mex is always an A1 choice. Tejas is definitely a vibe, with delicious food and drinks to make any lunch or dinner outing a great experience. I made a reservation for 7pm and the night time aesthetics were on point, making me feel like I was vacationing in Tulum or some other tropical destination. We started with the carne asada curly fries. 10/10 for sure. They were perfectly cheesy and the little bits of steak were very tender. Make sure to turn the bowl upside down on a plate because the queso is at the bottom of the bowl. I wanted something light but filling, so the jungle bowl caught my eye. Without a doubt, it hit the spot. It was reminiscent of a chipotle bowl, but slightly elevated. Ask for guac on the side if you order it. It came with avocado but the guac really set it off. The mocktails were great as well. Order the tropical sunrise for a refreshing beverage to cleanse your palette. It was nicely garnished as well, giving the illusion of a legit cocktail. I also recommend checking out the outside cabana bar. I didn't go and regretted it because it looked super vibey and added to the "vacation" feel I mentioned earlier. Found this place while exploring Bishop Arts on Sunday afternoon. The interior and exterior of the restaurant is very cute and nicely decorated. I really liked all the decorations, glassware, and plating. The prices were on the higher end for Tex-Mex food. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. I am giving it 4 stars because the food was very MID, but everything else was great (including the chips and salsa). The Brisket and Queso enchiladas lacked real flavor, especially compared to the hundreds of Tex-Mex spots in Dallas. You really are just paying for the ambiance and the drinks at this place, and wouldn't recommend it if you want really good food. Would I come back? For my entrees I ordered the brisket enchiladas, the tejas taco, and the chipotle chicken taco. To drink we both ordered the tropical sunrise mocktail. The star of the show was the brisket enchiladas. What a perfect blend of smoky Texas bbq and delicious Mexican flavor. I really enjoyed the Tejas and chipotle chicken tacos as well, and if you enjoy a tangy and refreshing drink like I do, you should probably get that mocktail. Worth every penny!! This place is AMAZING!!! The restaurant is clean and has plenty of seating inside and outside. It super cute and well decorated. Everything on the menu sounds so tasty. Brisket Taco - $6.00 Quite a basic taco. Not bad but not worth $6 in my opinion. Things to keep in mind: - The music is quite loud so I wouldn't recommend for a first date if you really value conversation, but it was great for a casual happy hour catch up with a friend. - Indoor and outdoor seating available. - The main Bishop Arts parking lot is right across the street (free and paid parking spots). We were shopping in bishop arts district the new side of it. Found this cute outdoor Mexican restaurant. We say down in the outdoor seating and was served by a very friendly bartender. She recommended the carnitas and veggie taco with chips and salsa. The carnitas taco and salsa was delicious. The only thing is the veggie taco was pretty much cabbage but had no flavor. The vibes here are a 10/10 with the pricing being on the higher side. $16 plates with only two tacos and $19 for only two enchiladas. That being said, the chips and salsa were so flavorful and filing. When our enchiladas arrived, we thought they were quite small for the price (TexMex plates are usually huge) but once you get going, you understand the price. I have never tasted enchiladas like these before! A completely new flavor that blew me away. The waitress only spoke to my wife and never to me, strange right? No idea what's up with that. We got our chips and drinks and then MIA for 20 minutes before we could order food when she came back. To give the low down currently Tejas is only open for dinner. If you really want to get a table, the best bet is to download the Resy app and make a reservation. My meal started with the ceviche. The ceviche has nice chunks of avocado, mango and a fish. You get a citrus vibe and it's something that just reminds me of summer on the beach. Follow that with the house guac and the omg so darn good sour cream enchiladas and house made flautas. If you get the enchiladas, ask for some extra sour cream. I would have loved to dip my bite into it or sop it up. The flautas come on a bed of green salsa and are truly the bomb!!! I had higher hopes for this restaurant, let's start with the good: margaritas were strong and tasty, fajitas were delicious (great quality meat), the ceviche was also very tasty. Mid-way through our meal, my best friend, who ordered the ceviche, found a dead fly in her meal. We told the server and she asked if she wanted to order something else but never once apologized or bothered to bring a manager out to speak on this issue. After seeing the dead fly, we were all DISGUSTED and no longer finished our meals. The only thing they did was take her meal off the final check. I visited for the first time here with friends recently and was so glad I decided on this restaurant. They were extremely accommodating with my group. The menu was perfectly priced with tons of options for brunch. The drink options were plentiful as well. One of our guests was celebrating a birthday, and the server and hostess were so sweet to bring out delicious tres leches cake for us! Unfortunately, I didn't get too many food pics, but check out all the pink and beautiful decor! The appetizers we had were so good! We had carne asada fries, quac, and a few others. The table had Paloma and regular margarita. Super tasty! Those that ordered the breakfast tacos like myself, enjoyed as well. I got the brisket, queso & egg taco and really enjoyed it. Once, we just came for drinks and we had to go inside to order drinks at the bar because no one came to serve us. Another time, I ordered a taco after the rest of the group and it never arrived, but no one came outside until we were ready to leave so we were unable to bring it to the attention of our server until it was too late. - Food/drinks: When it comes to food, Tejas has something for everyone. I love the ceviche, variety of tacos, and range of classic TexMex mains. I've never been for brunch, but the menu sounds delicious. My go-to drink is the spicy cucumber margarita. It is the perfect mix of spicy and refreshing and is probably one of the best spicy margaritas out there. If you want something zero proof, the mocktails are extremely refreshing. - Value: Tejas' atmosphere gives you the sense of an elevated meal out, but the prices are still reasonable. I got a spicy protein bowl which consisted of brown rice, black beans, steak, pineapple, pickled onions and jalapeños, and a kicky crema. Portion size was responsible. This place keeps it all Tejas all the time! Pretty much anything you order is sourced somewhere with in the lone star state, most of it being local. So you can support your taco habit and your community at the same time. The queso is cheesy goodness with tortilla chips but also a great dip for your curly fries, burgers or tacos. I've tried all of the non-breakfast tacos so far and they're all delicious. There are tasty drink options, including their thirst quenching prickly pear lemonade. Yum! I came across tejas on my Instagram page looking for a brunch location for my best friend and I for my birthday and I stumbled upon Tejas This hearty restaurant is located in bishop arts with a pretty pastel pink chairs outside there restaurant that is super eye catching The interior is also a delightful sight with there neon sign at the bar and the seatings. Service was phenomenal and the food were very flavorful. The carne asada to me was a bit on the salty side but overall presentation and taste was great. The salsa used for the roasted brisket enchilada was home-warming, tasted like a abuelitas recipe #delish My birthday drink was excellent I couldn't pick on there menu so I had the bartender craft up something sweet and they hit the spot Overall the experience was A+++ looking forward to coming back!
