We came here as a party of 8 on a Friday night. The chips and dip were so good, the dip had a smoked flavor to them. Really good!!! My sea food enchiladas were not good. They used a red sauce and it was a tad bit too tomato flavored to me.

The building and its sign are iconic when you're driving near Klyde Warren Park and the Perot in Dallas. The ambiance is lively and fun when you enter the restaurant's interior courtyard during the warm weather seasons. Every wait staff member that helped us was kind and helpful when choosing from the menu that was new to us. We really enjoyed the food. It is elevated Mexican and Mayan food. I absolutely love that they have food that has traces of ancient Mayan recipes and cooking styles instead of a typical modern Tex-Mex menu. It's a welcome deviation in the heart of Texas. The restaurant is within walking distance from a few hotels for visitors, or if you're local and want to do a staycation, it is a perfect area for that!

I was in town this past weekend for my birthday, and I'm so glad that I found this spot somehow! Even weeks prior to the trip, the team was incredibly helpful with helping me make a 14-person reservation (and super flexible as I had to make multiple changes to the reservation as well). There is a parking lot behind the restaurant that you can park at, and as of Oct. 2025 at least, they provide 2-hr parking validation so make sure to scan the QR code with the host before you pay for parking! As for the food, we split a few freshly made queso and guac combos across the table -- absolutely delicious and a great way to kick off the meal! The restaurant offers complimentary tortilla chips (and refills) and the chips also come with a complimentary homemade salsa if you don't want to order queso/guac for extra. I ordered the Ribeye Tacos, which came with perfectly seared ribeye, grilled veggies, and a creamy yet spicy green chile sauce on the side. The dish came with fresh white rice and black beans, which accompanied the tacos very well. I was truly impressed by the flavors in every bite, and I'm glad that nothing was overly salty either! If I lived here in Dallas, I'd definitely be coming back on a regular basis! This place is truly accommodating to bigger groups, so you won't regret having your next birthday/big party meal here!

This place had some strong reviews and tasty lookin menu items. I ordered the shrimp ceveche and it was wonderful. Great flavors! Then the ribeye tacos. You get 2 huge tacos but they were soft and I thought they were crispy. It's a lot or tortilla, and I felt like the meat could of been seasoned better. The service was great and the people kind. I'd like to come back and try a coupe other item.

We came here on a Thursday evening before heading to Thursdays on Tap at the Perot Museum, and it ended up being a great choice. We were seated immediately, and the overall experience was excellent from start to finish. We started with cocktails and queso. The cocktail menu had a great variety, and the drinks we ordered were both delicious and surprisingly strong. For our entrees, we had the cochinita pibil and the carne asada. The standout was definitely the cochinita pibil, it was shockingly good, full of flavor, and tasted incredibly authentic. The carne asada was also very well prepared and enjoyable. Overall, this was a great choice and I will definitely be coming back.

Generous portions of very tasty Mexican fare, Meso Maya delivers with an extensive menu and tasty flavoring for all of the dishes we tried. Heaping bowl of chips and delicious salsa that is served the second you sit down was much appreciated after our drive from Austin. We ordered the Steak Fajita and Seafood Poblano. Both dishes had ample amounts of food and generous portions of seafood and meat. The seafood poblano had a delicious sauce and the salmon, white fish and shrimp were accompanied by sauteed peppers and onions. Would definitely visit again on a future trip to Dallas.

Great food. Awesome atmosphere. Really loved all of the food. Guacamole was fresh and amazing. The queso was brilliant. I had the Pollo con Mole and it was amazing. Great server with a positive attitude.

Stepping into Meso Maya Comida y Copas in Dallas feels like being welcomed into a vibrant celebration of Mexican flavors and culture. The moment you walk through the door, the lively atmosphere hums around you--warm lighting, rich colors, and the scent of fresh tortillas made from nixtamalized masa. I dove into their mole poblano, each bite deep and layered, perfectly balanced with the fresh tortillas that come straight from their kitchen. The cocktails stole the show too -- that Pineapple Habanero was a fiery, sweet surprise that kept me coming back for another sip. The staff treated everyone like family, attentive but never hovering. It felt like a place where tradition meets a modern twist, where every dish and drink tells a story rooted in history but alive in the now. A spot I'll be thinking about long after the last bite.

Came for dinner and pretty disappointed. Took about 10 minutes for water and our server to come over. We got chips and queso and it was less than room temperate. We said something and they did bring a new one. We got avocado margaritas that were 85% ice. Our food came and my ribeye tacos were way over cooked, elote was bland, and Brussel sprouts were not worth the $2.50 up charge. My friend got the seafood lasagna dish and it was very bland and shrimp wasn't peeled. We got more drinks and they were not good. Overall not great food and drinks.

We were absolutely blown away by our experience at Meso Maya. Coming from California, we have very high expectations when it comes to Mexican food, and this place delivered. The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and everything was cooked to perfection. The ambiance made the evening feel warm and inviting, and our server was friendly and helpful with great menu suggestions. You absolutely must try the churros they were the best we've ever had and filled with a dulce de leche like cream. This is a fantastic spot for date night, girls' night, or celebrating a special occasion.

Had some hits and misses. The service was slow, and the food was just okay. An order came out incorrect, though the server did fix it. Drinks were decent, took awhile to get them, but nothing outstanding. Though, the avocado margarita was creative and yummy.

Nice environment. We had a fairly large group and the staff was able to group us in a reasonable configuration. Noise level was moderate to loud around dinner time. I ordered Enchilada/Chicken and it was extremely tasty. I imagine competition for Mexican food in Dallas is stiff, but this place was great. They had a decent drink selection as well. It sits further to the edge of downtown, it is walkable, but probably more questionable towards later hours I presume. We took a short uber ride over there and it was simple to get to. Worth a stop for great Mexican food.

I really liked my food last time...but man, I would not recommend getting the pollo Serrano since mine tasted like they put 20 limes on it. So avoid that but definitely get the other stuff!

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

At one point, our food was delivered while we were outside getting fresh air. The food was also disappointing. The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

(I rarely post Yelp reviews so that's how bad it was) I ordered the steak frites medium-well (thinking it would probably come out well-done, as most non-steakhouses tend to do). After a long wait for our food (the restaurant didn't look that busy, but maybe a lot of to-go orders?) I received the pictured steak: I'm pretty sure I can still hear it mooing. How anyone could look at this and think this is medium-well is beyond me. I tried taking a bite, but it was so raw it was inedible to eat - I would've been chewing for ages. I brought this up to my waiter, who said he would take it back and speak to the kitchen. My group needed to leave for another event (didn't anticipate waiting nearly an hour for our food) so we simultaneously asked for our checks. The kicker? My waiter did not follow up with me on how raw the steak was and did not comp my meal/provide any kind of remedy. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but the lack of follow-through to remedy the situation was the icing on the cake (or insert some kind of raw steak pun). My cocktail (which all arrived AFTER our meals were delivered) was pretty good, thus the 2 stars. But I question why/how my steak was so raw despite me waiting 45-55 minutes for it. Overall, only come here for drinks - so long as you're okay with waiting forever & a day for them.
