Not understanding some of the negative reviews here because our experience was fantastic. We were planning on going somewhere else in town and, after listening to a podcast about parmesan cheese, we called an audible and went here. Perfect service, such great dishes... when you are craving Italian food, this place is the right move.

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat on a recent trip to South Haven. I was a bit apprehensive because of some of the reviews, but took a chance because the pictures looked appealing. I am glad I did! The food was delicious! I had the butternut squash ravioli and my husband had the Lasagne. They were one of the few restaurants open in January and we were basically the only ones. Our waitress was very attentive and gave us great recommendations. I enjoyed the decor. I would come again!

BEST MEAL in South Haven! Came here on a whim on a Tuesday since several South Haven restaurants are closed on Tuesdays, and ended up having our best meal in South Haven! I've had some amazing butternut squash ravioli at other restaurants, but Tello's recipe was the best. Savory, buttery, slightly salty which you need to cut the richness of the sauce. The fresh pasta texture was the perfect al dente, almost as if they rolled these out specifically for me when I walked in. Had a lovely sauvignon blanc as a great compliment. Parking was easy and free on a Tuesday night at 5:00pm at the back, no wait. When we left around 7:30pm, there was an hour wait. We'll be adding this destination to our trip to South Haven every summer! Note: Ordinarily I'd give this experience 4 stars, as my fork was dirty with lots of crusted cheese and there was a mistake on our bill, but my dinner was so phenomenal that it adds another star.

The food was pretty bland, and the servers weren't nice. I would try another place rather than coming here.

Quaint Michigan-owned Wine Tasting in South Haven, Michigan. One block away from the harbor…read more Visiting on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, the store was not overly crowded. My friend and I stopped there on our leisure walk. There were 4 people inside, with 2 waitresses working. We were politely greeted by Kim, who explained the "run of the land." You get 5 tastings for $12. Like most wine tastings, there are options of whites, reds, semi-sweets, and sweets. There is a $4 uncharge to try the ice wine. Although I'm usually a "Red Girl," my favorite was the Beach White and the River Stone White. My least favorite was the River Stone Dry Rosè.Rose. My friend's last favorite was the PinoPinot Grigio. I must also admit that Pinot Noir is typically my wine of choice and this one was not very good to my palate. As a pleasant treat, this establishment also offers a variety of ice cream bars from another Michigan-owned business called Icebox Brand. We did not try them, but it is reportedly delicious with options for small and large bars. Another bonus is you get to keep your tasting glasses! Overall, it was a great experience with delicious options. As a seasoned wine taster, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

They were doing a NOLA-themed menu, so we started out with a Sazerac which was DELICIOUS. We ended our meal with Spanish coffee, equally delicious even though our mixer said she'd never made one before. In-between, we enjoyed tuna tartare, oyster bisque, Cajun walleye with hush puppies, a smoky Cajun gumbo, beignets with chocolate sauce and an Argentine malbec. All EXCELLENT!!! If you haven't been to the Historian, you're missing out. Great food, friendly service, nice vibe and decent prices.

It was refreshing to peruse an interesting small plates menu which we would definitely go back to try on a future visit. There is also a traditional menu as well as a special menu on weekends prepared by a guest chef featuring international cuisine. We tried the "Thai Night" menu and especially enjoyed the vegetarian potstickers in a delicious Thai sauce and the noodle salad with shrimp. The flavors were layered, with a delicate creamy texture and just the right amount of spice. There is a parking lot on site and reservations are a must on weekends, although an early arrival might get you a nice spot at the bar!
