In the four years since I first saw this program, the only Cabaret at the Merc I missed is one night was when I was sick. This is a stellar program. There are so many things great about it. The talent is fantastic and the producers wonderfully match the music to the vocalists and band. The vocalists come from a variety of places and backgrounds that show the quality of their professionalism. The band is top notch. Leigh, the piano player, is an amazing pianist who adds a tremendous touch to the program. Will, one of the guitar players, will leave you craving for more. Not to play second place, the venue is part of what makes this program so fun. It is a very intimate setting, where there is frequent banter between the audience and the performers. The feel is light-hearted and you can tell the performers truly enjoy participating. The fun of sitting a few feet from extremely talented people and taking in beautiful music is an experience. Each theme presented stands on its own and range from Broadway to rock to soul. Am I over-the-top for this program.....yes!

It was a hot weekend but there was plenty of shade at the top of the Ampitheater. This venue is a great place to listen to live music. The sound was great and there was plenty of seating. Check the website because it may vary depending the event but I would suggest bringing a pop up of sorts and some lawn chairs. The bottom half of the Ampitheater is stadium type seating, essentially concrete seats which get very hot with the Temecula heat. If you plan on sitting in those seats I would suggest bringing a seat cushion for comfort as well as protection from burning your bum, and a hat. Overall a really neat venue.

Every summer the City of Temecula hosts free concerts at the Temecula Amphitheater. They call it…read moretheir Summer Sunset Concert Series. This year the concert series runs from June 1st to the last one on July 27th. Gates open at 5pm and the concert starts at 7pm. This is a beautiful outdoor arena located on the grounds of the Temecula Community Recreation Center and next to the Ronald Regan Sports Park. There are several rows of tiered seating with a grassy area which is wide enough to fit a beach chair for comfortable seating. At the top, above the tiered seating levels is a grassy area where you can lay down a blanket and spread out. There is also easy handicap access and seating. No alcohol or pets are allowed. There is lots of parking. These concerts are very popular and fill up quickly. Get there early to grab your spot, bring a picnic dinner, and enjoy the outdoor setting while waiting for the concert to start. The audience is filled with young and old, and a lot of families. There are usually snacks and drinks for sale, but not anything for a full meal. I think last night the vendor was Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees and Smoothies. Last night the band was Smokin' Cobras, singing old time rock and roll, a little bit of Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, Swing, and a lot more. Everyone gets into the music and there was a lot of dancing. It was fun, fun, fun! The seats face west and the sun is right in your face until it sets. It does get hot during the summer time. Bring sun glasses, a hat, or an umbrella for shade. Once the sun goes down, the evenings are usually quite nice. Last night was a bit chilly. Temecula is such a great place to live! Good thing I wasn't behind someone who stood up. I couldn't hear words sung by one of the female performers because the background music was louder than her voice. Someone once said "the music should compliment the singer". I was amazed that this theater seats so many people. The seats were somewhat comfortable. For those who left at 9:30 p.m. before the second session-you missed a personal performance by E.J. and son, a message from E.J.'s brother to their father who passed away a year ago. It became personal and the songs were better for me.

What a wholesome show for the entire family…read more There are no animals or pets; but instead, a group of exceptionally talented performers of every imaginable art. Very hospitable staff. Plenty of friendly greetings and pleasant sales personnel ready to sell you on the flashy lighted kids toys or drink cups. A very pleasant experience. We took our grandkids and they thought it was great. They had never yet been to a circus, and I told them, "Do your grandkids a favor and take them to the circus, they will forever remember it...and you".
