This visit, Friday night and just wanted to stop somewhere for a cocktail. As we enjoyed our last visit, it was nice to stop by again. But this time it was in the evening and happened to be drag night. We didn't know what was going on until we walked in. It was pretty lively so I recommend coming early. I think earlier they have drag race on and then starting at 9pm is when the drag show starts. You can reserve seating and a table but they also have first come seating in i believe. We got lucky as there were two seat open at the bar counter. Drinks are good and affordable. The crowd was a mix which was fun. There was plenty of dollar bills in hand. Show did start a little after 9 but it was so much fun and worth it. It was our first time and let me say, we will be telling people about it and bringing them with us. The showgirls were all amazing and excellent song choices. Costumes were quite nice and very elaborated. The hostess was a major doll and it happened to be her birthday that night. Even after performing, she still mange to come and chat with people which was nice getting to know her. The show was so fun and I highly recommend it. The 3pm mid-day found almost every barstool full as well as just a few outer tables. The vibe is subtle and I highly recommend bringing someone to talk too. The bartender was chatty enough but the patrons not so much. I would bet it's the same crowd everyday yet nobody seemed to know each other, just quiet men all looking gayly forward towards the center of the bar. Drinks are delicious and poured generously and if you like the houses favorite brands (all top shelf) then its a pretty good deal. The Desert Winds Freedom Band (DWFB) is a feast of both sight and sound. They play a wide…read morerepertoire of modern music and some classical. Each concert has a theme, such as the recent "Portrait of America" program. A very large video screen includes custom videos that accompany the music. All the band members are volunteers. A subgroup is the Jazz Band. The entire group makes up the Symphonic Band. With more than 80 performers, the sound is rich and immersive. Typically, a band doesn't have string sections. The different instruments provide the full tapestry of music. For example, the clarinets carry the music that might be played by the violin section in an orchestra. An important exception is that the Jazz Band usually has bass and guitar performers. Most concerts are presented at the Temple Isaiah in Palm Springs. The DWFB has also performed holiday music outdoors at the plaza in front of the Rowan Hotel in Palm Springs. In 2024, they awarded eight $1,000 college scholarships to Coachella Valley HS grads majoring in music. My guests were so thrilled to hear them play, Plena Vista had the crowd on the dance floor!. They had a female singer join them, who if you had your eyes closed, would guess you were listening to Selena all over again, what a great voice! A great variety of both English and Spanish songs, cumbias, salsa, instrumental and a great imitation of Bruno Mars!!!! Their DJ kept the hits coming while the band took a break. We found out…read morethat they were performing at Fantasy Springs casino and we took a drive to see and hear them play. The casino event was outdoors, and they had the crowd dancing away. We decided to hire them for a wedding on November 28, 2022 and it was one of the best decisions. At our wedding they were amazing and very professional. My entire family danced and enjoyed the music.
