Note: this review is subject to change. Brought my Kia in for A/C service. Car is at 50k - under warranty. I was quoted 900.00 to fix the A/C and replace the battery. The second option was a 600.00 fix if they ordered a part. They said the A/C was not under warranty because a rock hit it. Urmn. Ok. Sure. And of course, the A/C breaks now. The day before a 120 degree day in the Valley. Beautiful timing. I just got this vehicle a year or two ago. I almost feel like I bought a lemon at this point. I am off to get second opinions. If I am quoted similar prices for parts and labor, I will edit this. But, my mother had a bunch of issues with her Kia about four years ago. A bunch of issues with the dealership and repairs and expenses. She was so frustrated, she swore Kia off. Said she would never buy another. If I could give my experience with Tempe Kia zero stars I would. Back in June I purchased a 2024 Kia Seltos through Rodney. When I took my car home on the first day I noticed there was a scuff on the dashboard. I brought it to Rodney's attention and he said his team would fix it but to make sure I gave him a perfect rating on his survey. I felt like him and his team harassed me to give them a perfect survey score before they fixed my car and I should have known better. To fix the scuff, they had some guy buff out the entire thing and now it looks dull and weird. They completely took the shine off the entire part and the part has been peeling. Scott the service director told me that they would order me a new part and that was 4 months ago... fast forward to now, after trying to get a hold of them for months, I found out they did not order the part. They have been lying to me and probably hoping after some time goes by I will forget about it and leave them alone. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere to buy a car. Rodney and Scott are nothing but a bunch of liars and I will never do business here with them again. And I hope you don't either. read more

HORRIBLE experience! My dad and I went car shopping at many of the dealers in this autoplex, this one by far the WORST! We walked off the lot almost immediately! The native american sales guy(didn't even catch his name) was very rude as we came to look at the kia sorento. My dad was trying to get a ball park number on what they cost and guy refused to tell us a price. Said we HAD to come inside to run credit yada yada. My dad told him, " I am just asking for a price. The price of the car has nothing to do with my credit etc." The rude sales guy said "well I can't help you if you don't give me your information" SO my dad replied with "Well I guess we should leave then" When we originally walked up, I was asking questions about the sorento as I was trying to narrow my options down and looking at multiple small SUV's. The guy was not very helpful and did not go get the keys to unlock the cars so I could look inside. They were all locked! He was rude and lazy!!! How do you do business like this?!? If I could give this zero stars, I would. This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. The 'boy' who was our salesperson seemed more interested in his cell phone than in selling us a car. He told us to we'd have to "make it quick" on our test drive, and let us know they were "too busy" to give us anything more than an estimate on pricing. You can bet your life we won't be purchasing from Tempe Kia. This kid was extremely rude, short, and offensive. Was looking at Telluride SX Prestige and after informing me there was a 15%-20% markup, told me this little gem. "You can't test drive it because we don't want to put any mileage on it. Tempe Kia obviously does not respond to reviews but I called to try to get help and went no where. I Purchased my Kia from here and have about 99% of the service done there. Over the last 3 years this placed has become a hole. I set an appointment for engine light and asked they also check the car for any issue, no matter how small and let's fix it. It's a stick and told them it has problems going into 3rd gear. I think the service advisor was Bob, little bit older guy with grey hair. He was always rushed. I actually had to tell him I'm sorry that he's busy but don't be rude to me because he's having a bad day. Dropped car off around 7:30am. By 5pm I finally called. Another 1/2 hours they said, yeah, it's ready. Went to pick it up. $175 to fix engine light. Nothing had to be done, just reset. Whatever. I said what about the check over. Bob said, no, no issues. I said what about stick shift.... got deer in headlight look. Oh, you need a new clutch... about $1100. Again, no problem but was he guessing? Get the car home. Still does not go into 3rd easily, I have no parking light (even though the sheet they handed back said they tested that). I wanted to GIVE THEM MY MONEY. They would not take it. Every time I walk in service it is like a zoo. Another Service writer just sits there smiling and telling jokes to whoever is in ear shot. Very unprofessional and obviously could care less. I call Bob 2 times after and told him the above... he said, sorry. Nothing like, bring it back, we'll get it right. How strange. I never once complained to them about prices. After calling Kia and confirming the car was on the lot, and confirming a test drive. I showed up to have them tell me my car wasnt avaible anylonger. I looked at another car and told them I could pay everything but $2.000, and they expressed that they only financed $4,000 or more. I asked how much interest that would be and they basically said , I would pay $7,000 for the $4,000 dollar loan, even if I paid it off earlie. Dealerships like this one give all Dealers a bad repuation, They Need to stop paying commition to the sales rep and think more about getting the cars to people. Then they can rip people off for auto repairs because we would have to bring them into their location because of the warrenty that they charge you because you have to get a loan through them. read more

Paid almost $3,000 to have my car fixed from top to bottom to take care of all the issues after having a issue with it starting reliably and dying occasionally at idle. Less than a month later, the exact same thing happened and it threw a check engine error code that is linked to a problem with the starter. Tempe Kia does business the old fashioned way. Bait you in the door and bring in the sales manager to close the negotiation on a car you don't want. Very disappointing given that we came to Tempe Kia in response to discounted prices posted on the internet. We had a 9:00 a.m.appointment. We arrived to a showroom void of people and finally met with our salesman nearly half an hour late. We were there to see a specific car that had been "placed out front for my family to view." Surprise, surprise. Our original internet sales rep was a last minute no show for the appointment and the car we came to see had been transferred to another dealer or (insert story here). Still, they offered to get us a similar car from another dealership. They also wanted us to pay the $300 plus fee to transfer the car and gave us numerous reasons why the online prices for similar cars would not apply to us. After hours there (not an exaggeration), looking for cars and haggling with the sales manager, we left. We did return to look at the car they had transferred, but another $1,000 surprise in price caused us to walk. Over half a day gone. Also be aware the posted internet prices do not include a mandatory $599 window tint, although that was the least of our worries. I had noted that fine print in advance. It's too bad. We came to Tempe Kia fully expecting to quickly drive away in a car at the price they promised. The salesman was very knowledgeable and nice. The management? Not so much. Perhaps we were just falling for a good cop, bad cop routine. DO NOT buy from this dealership. They make you sign a NON-REFUNDABLE $1000 down deposit if your car is not on their lot (which is happening frequently given the state of car inventory). As far as I know having called other Kia dealerships in the Valley, NO ONE ELSE requires a NON-REFUNDABLE down payment! In fact, one Kia dealership in South Scottsdale was shocked and horrified at that, and had no idea anyone was forcing customers to do that. They had never heard of that! That means obviously OTHER KIA DEALERSHIPS give much higher customer service, customer caring, and are not money grabbers taking advantage of people when they are vulnerable shoppers, as I was, still in shock over my engine blowing up on the freeway the day before. Shameful how the service department bamboozled me to get me to come in for an oil change. When I called to ask about a price for an oil change for my 2019 kia stinger GT1 that's what I informed them I had . They gave me a quote of $69.95. when I arrived to get the service done the price change to 99.95 because of type of car I have. if the price was going to be changed that should have been addressed when I call to set the appointment. I went with it than when I came to pick the car up the price jumped to 114 dollars. how the hell did we get from 69.95 to 114 dollars. That's almost a 50 dollar difference from what I was told over the phone. The guy tried to use an analogy of grocery shopping , stating you don't know the full price till you buy the groceries. so they don't disclose the full price till the work is done then they tell you taxes and shit. WTF does grocery shopping have to do with a car. I am sorry to tell you when I hit pay now at the register I still have the option to deny the grocery item if I think that price is too fucking high. I can cancel an item out and have it returned. I have the choice to either buy or not buy an item with knowledge of the full price including taxes. by doing what you did you took the consumer choice out of it . once you've done the work I'm stuck . Which I believe was the shady shit you were trying to do. You guys knew if you told me it was over 100 dollars I would have chosen to go somewhere else. so instead you choose to hide the full price under miss quotes and fraudulent quotation of prices. I do not recommend going here even if you buy the car from here you can go to another kia service department. They are fraudulent people. read more

Returned to the dealership for my requested 1000 mile inspection after setting up the appointment online for 7 AM and selecting that I needed the shuttle. There is nothing stating that the shuttle doesn't start making runs until 7:30 AM. I arrived at the dealer at 6:45 AM to make sure I was first in line (the next car showed up at 7:20 AM. I was greeted by Paula who was courteous but was informed that the shuttle didn't start until 7:30. I asked why that was and she didn't have an answer. I also stated that the Ram dealer (next door they share shuttle) always started at 7 and that work was only 2 miles away. I asked her to call to see if they could make an exception and get me to work early. She called and talked to the shuttle driver (who was there) and he informed her that they had to get fuel in both vans (should take like 7 mins) and they would try to get over as soon as they could. She never followed up with them and 7:30 came and they were still not there. While having our conversation, she said, wait your car is ready, so you can just take that. Seriously! I waited another 10 mins and was able to leave the dealership at 7:50. Not sure that this is the best first impression on the service side that you want. In my opinion and every one has one, this is not taking care of your customers. read more

I can't speak for the car sales side, as I bought my Kia elsewhere, but I've been to Tempe Kia a few times for servicing. Paula has been really friendly every time and does what it takes to ensure that I was satisfied. I'm usually a cheap-ass when it comes to things, so yeah, sometimes I have gone to other places for oil changes and whatnot due to price or convenience, however, the few times I've gone to "the dealer" I didn't feel I got ripped off. Now they want more money because they replaced a part that wasn't broken, and now it needs a different part. Seems shady. I bought a new car from Brandon, (with help from Frank and Dennis) at Tempe Kia, and my overall experience was very pleasant. I had done a lot of research before going in and originally I wasn't even sure if I wanted a Kia or what. The guys were really patient and took the time to show me some cars, and they kept saying that they'd make me the best offer. After about 2-3 days I had gone around to some other dealerships in the area that also sold Kia, and I wasn't as impressed. Brandon especially was able to sit down with us and talk about numbers and how we weren't paying more than we needed to be. Even when I asked him about maybe buying used instead of new, he showed us some cars they had in stock and we looked at those as well. Overall, car buying can be a real nightmare, but with these guys I felt no fear, and was comfortable driving my new car off the lot. read more

Had a horrible time with this dealership. I was approved for a vehicle then come to find out I wasn't approved. I had take the vehicle home when I was told I was approved signing all the paperwork. About a week later I was told I wasn't approved. The financing was not completed. I provided just every type of document they requested. Finally a month later it was approved. The financing went through. The car I selected was a nice Kia Soul with Uvo and heads up display. I did everything all the setup with electronics and settings in the car including uvo. I tried to use the heads up display for the very first time. Now nothing. Darn brand new car and the heads up display doesn't work. I called the customer service and dealership I bought it from. They were not helpful. I took the vehicle to another vehicle and they looked at it and said that I need to turn it in. I don't have any other transportation. This brand new vehicle should be in pristine condition. Apparently I was sold a lemon. I should have kept my Mini Cooper. I will not buy another kia after this. The telluride looks nice but I'm sure the electronics have issues in the kias. That is all. read more

I am really disappointed in this dealership, especially since my husband used to work for them and had nothing but great things to say about them. My car buying experience was great with William last year. However, the service department needs some serious improvements. My husband took my car to be serviced a month ago, one month shy of my vehicle being a year old. The seats in the middle row of my Telluride have cloth fabric on them that started coming up on both seats. They aren't damaged, you can just tell they were not put on securely or correctly as they both are coming off the exact same way. My husband mentioned it to them and they tried to charge $200 to fix what is evidently a flaw in my truck. So I called and spoke with Scott, he was kind when I spoke to him and assured me he would se what he could make happen after I emailed him the pictures. I emailed Scott my photos and he confirmed he received them by responding to my email. I followed up 3 days later, no reply, I called and left messages for him, no return call. We are now on week 2.5 and no response from Scott. So I called Kia again, spoke with Jiaro (I believe that is how you spell his name.), who was also very kind when I spoke to him, however, he also never called me back as he said he would. Customer service should NOT disappear once I my vehicle has been purchased. My expectation is that I receive the same customer service that I did when you all were selling my truck to me. read more

I had been taking my set of two Kia vehicles into the service department regularly for oil changes and the occasion issue with my cars. This last time I went, I picked up my vehicle in far worse condition than I left it (after already making 4 trips back and forth from the service department because they could not get their facts straight on where the parts for my car was). Finally, when they did complete service of my car, they ended up damaging another part of the interior that their rep even claimed responsibility for by stating it was more than likely the tech who damaged my sunshade by rapidly shifting my car from park down to reverse and back to test a current shifter issue. This negligence and/or rushing caused the sunshade to jam. When I escalated this damage on my vehicle to the staff and management (before even leaving the shop as I noticed something was off about my vehicle immediately after getting in) they denied responsibility claiming the part "wore" out while they were test driving my vehicle and that I should pay them nearly $2000 to fix a roller that was damaged while they serviced the vehicle. Funny how this is the second time a roller has gotten damaged/broken while Tempe Kia serviced my vehicle. They claimed they are not liable for any vehicles breaking down while they complete service even though the damage was a direct result of their techs negligence. This is the second time my vehicle has been damaged while receiving service at this dealer. Not to mention it is Kia's most expensive vehicle and now it's pretty obvious that Tempe Kia is purposefully damaging customers cars to maintain a constant stream of returning clientele. I would not recommend anyone using this shop as they blatantly don't care about their customers or their needs and will constantly upswell on stuff you don't even need for you car. I'm having their last "work" done on my car reviewed by another shop because I'm positive no fix was actually made to the vehicle's suspension as the clunking noise is still there as well. I can't wait until my lawyer gives them a call to discuss who is actually liable for this failure and the blatant dishonesty from their management. read more

I went to Tempe Kia on September 3rd, 2020 to see if I qualified for an auto loan. Sales associate Rolando Vidal helped me upon entering the building. I provided three bank statements, proof of residence, my driver's license, and a down payment of 1000.00. Rolando showed me a 2020 Kia Rio Lx and said that was the only car I qualified for. Their team ran the numbers and informed me that my monthly payments would range from 429.00 to 439.00. I agreed to that price range and then Rolando passed me on to their Finance manager, Jalen Jackson. Jackson went over everything with me on the companies Tablet. He showed me my monthly payments would be 437.00 and some change. They also offered some ad-on packages so I picked GAP insurance and roadside. He had me sign everything electronically and put my paperwork on a jump drive. Once signed, I handed over 800 dollars, in cash and the 200 dollars was debited out of my bank account. Once the transaction was complete I went bank to Rolando's desk. That is where I was handed the keys to my new car and I went on my way. On September 8th I received a phone call from Capital One Auto Financing. The employee, Liz said they were calling to verify my income. She stated that I made 4860.00 dollars and wanted to know if I worked or had any other source of income that was coming in. I said the only income I have was from my VA Disability, which I am rated at 100 percent. She said that they verified the 3860.00 but needed verification on the extra thousand. I informed her that I have no other source of income and VA Disability was it. She then asked if I added the extra numbers to the financial paper. I told her I did not and that the dealership must have. (With the provided bank statements there is no other income showing that I make anymore money.) She said that she would note the new information on the account and get back to me once they reached a decision on if I still qualify for financing of the 2020 Kia Rio. That same day, I decided to drive to Tempe Kia to discuss the situation, to try and figure out what happened. I arrived between 12:30 and 1PM and explained the situation to the front desk clerk. She then called her manager John Chavez. I explained the situation and he told me that he asked the financial company (Capital One Auto) if it was possible to add gross income to pump up my Veteran's Disability pay, and that Capital One confirmed that it was ok to do so. He explained to me that he does this with people on Social Security. I was unaware that he was manipulating my income in this way. If he would have told me what he was doing, I would have not authorized it since VA disability payments are tax-free. John Chavez assured me that everything would be taken care of and that I need not to worry. Next, Jalen Jackson, the financial manager, came to talk to me about the situation. He conferred with John Chavez then came back and told me to go home with the car and they would get back to me by the next day. I asked Jalen why couldn't this be taken care of today and he responded that the person who does "bank Stuff" wasn't working today. I left Tempe Kia and went straight to the VA resource center, located in Mesa Arizona, to try and find out if anyone could help me understand if this situation would be considered fraudulent. they informed me that the dealership did didn't seem right and referred me to a lawyer who I talked to and he informed me to report the incident to the Arizona Attorney General as consumer fraud. I decided to go back to tempe Kia. I parked the car in front of their buisness, took pictures of the inside/outside, just to make sure that I would not be charged for anything, and I walked into the dealership. I notified the clerk in front that I was returning the car. John Chavez was notified and he sent over Jalen Jackson to talk to me. I explained to him that I would not be keeping the car under fraudulent circumstances. He told me I was under contract and there was nothing I could do. John Chavez decided to come over and talk to me when I was on the phone with my cousin, she stayed on the line while I talked to John Chavez. I told him that I would not keep the car because of their illegal practices. John told me that I was stuck with the car. I said no, because they lied on the application for financing. He then stated that I would not get my 1000.00 down payment back if I were to return the car, (he said this multiple times) before going back inside. Over the course of today, talking to John Chavez, he has said multiple times that he added "Gross-Income" to people on Social Security before with success. I find the practice of John Chavez, and Tempe Kia to be unethical and blatantly fraudulent. read more

I just have to say that I went with a family member to purchase a new Kia and we chose the RIO. Our salesperson Warren was the best. He took us around the lot showing us all of the different options available. Final Choice was the cute and gas friendly Rio. We were there about 5 hours and it was fine as they worked with us to get the price and trade in affordable for my family member.
