Delicioso! My husband and I visited on a Saturday evening. You can tell this is a family business - seems like the owners are taking orders/preparing the food/bussing tables etc. SUPER friendly and eager to explain the dishes, ingredients, and process. All of the pasta is made in-house. We got the arancini as an appetizer and it was the best I've had (outside of Italy/NY)! Our pasta dishes were excellent, huge portions for a great price. All disposable cutlery and bowls, but seem to be eco-friendly in that they recycle and use cardboard/not plastic. Plus, makes it easy to take the rest of your huge pasta bowl to go! Highly recommend! Had a really sweet dinner at this spot last weekend. Easy and delicious- order at the counter and they bring the food right out to you. Delicious menu of fresh pastas (my boyfriend had the rigatoni, I had the casarecce and the kitchen added a spicy kick for me!) The chef in the back makes everything by hand. I tried Tempo Di Pasta for the first time today and I cannot wait to go back! I'm not an Italian food snob, but I do love me some pasta. I ordered the lobster crab ravioli ($12) and it was restaurant quality. The ravioli was perfectly cooked. It came with a roll, which I graciously used to mop the sauce. At first glance, the portion seemed like something I could finish up in one sitting. Ha. I left three ravioli pieces around 1:30 p.m. and at 7:02 p.m., I'm still stuffed. My boyfriend had the rigatoni sausage ($10), which I helped myself to. It had a ball of ricotta cheese in the center, great sausage-to-pasta ratio (this is important!) and tasted as if they used FRESH pasta, not dry pasta. He's not a pasta fan at all but he loved his dish because it didn't have an "overly starchy" taste. I think the only thing my dish was missing was red pepper flakes, which they may very well add if requested, but I was so excited, I forgot to ask, lol. My boyfriend mentioned that he'd have liked if there was parmesan available by the order window to add on to your dish. Maybe we just don't know what true gourmet italian pasta is, but Tempo Di Pasta is gonna school us, lol. We moved to Frederick about a year ago without even knowing the vast amount of options when it comes to food. We have tried a lot of different restaurants some good some ok . We tried to stop at Tempo di pasta a couple of times but change our mind at the last minute . WE DIDNT KNOW what we were missing. They not only offer authentic Italian food , but the service was outstanding, friendly accommodating . This restaurant is the hidden gem of Frederick . The food was amazing . One of the best lunches I've had in a long time! I should have taken a picture, but got so excited when I opened my food container that I dove right in! For $10 I got a nice size piece of lasagna, a salad and a piece of bread. Can't beat that!!! A well balanced meal from a food truck for $10?!?! If you went to the Lobster truck you'd be paying $15 for just a lobster roll and be hungry 2 hours later. I got the Lasagna and my friend wanted the Chicken Milanese, but it was sold out so she opted for the Chicken Pesto Pasta instead. We both loved our meals! I definitely want to come back and try the Milanese since it seems like it's a big hit. This definitely is not your chain Italian food, real authentic and fresh. It may take a little time to get your food, but that's because it's made to order right there and I can appreciate that! Now on to the service, the lady who takes the money and gives you your food is a real gem! Like seriously! She was so sweet, she talked to every customer with a smile on her face and seemed to genuinely care about the customer and their experience. You don't find good customer service like that much anymore and especially not on a food truck. I'll definitely be going back to try all of the other dishes except for maybe the mushroom ravioli because I'm not much of a mushoom fan, but seeing that their ravioli is made from scratch I definitely want to try the beef! I'm actually struggling to describe how wonderful the food is here because it's just so delicious. Have you ever tasted something and been happy and sad at the same time? Happy because you've just tasted something exquisite and sad because soon you will have finished it? That was my husband's and my experience here. I rarely see his eyes light up like that, at least for cooking that isn't mine, so I knew immediately we'd found a special place. We were warmly welcomed by the proprietor who explained the menu and took our order. I had the cannelloni verde and my husband had the ravioli di funghi. Both were fantastic and so fresh, from the house made pasta to the spinach and mushrooms. Portions were generous and excellent value for money. The restaurant is small and unpretentious, which is really nice. We'll definitely be regulars. We also got some pasta to take home and a few desserts because we couldn't resist. read more

But it is a food truck, and it's worth mentioning that it took me about 30 minutes with the line and preparation, and the dish was a bit messy (tons of cream in a box not sealed very well). Tried the lasagna - portion size was worth it for the price and overall good taste. better than a lot of pastas I've had in the city. only complaint was that some parts of the bottom of the lasagna tasted like dishwashing liquid.... probably an anomaly but something i'd suggest the cooks watch out for. This is a new food truck, and I'm warning you to stay away. Below is the text of the letter I wrote the owner, or whoever maintains their email address: Hi, I was at your food truck last Friday at the Van Ness location. I was very excited to see the menu, some real great sounding Italian dishes, and a pretty decent price. However my friend and I were disappointed with the food. I got the wild mushroom ravioli. The mushrooms themselves were fine, but the rest of the meal was poor. The ravioli were mushy and just barely lukewarm (I ate it right away after walking back to my office). The yellow sauce I got was very bland, didn't taste much garlic and definitely no spices. My Friend got some kind of pasta (I think it was ziti) with the red sauce. He thought it was extremely bland. He also noted that it was cold. He was also disappointed with the salad, according to him the dressing was pure balsamic vinegar, and he was definitely right. Finally the bread... two slices of untoasted wonderbread in a plastic baggie. What were you thinking?? If you're going to serve something, it shouldn't suck! To me it seems like you're treating customers like suckers - luring them in with fancy fine dining menus and the promise of salad and bread all for 10 bucks... and then serving them slop, figuring they don't know the difference. I know something about food... a food truck cannot come close to preparing 10 different entrees from scratch on short order. Instead, as we figured out after the fact, you've got stuff pre-prepared and reheated. Nothing necessarily wrong with that... except you guys couldn't even get that right. This is Italian food, not rocket science... keep two pots of sauce going on the stove, pre-blanch two or three kinds of pasta and fry them to order, and grill some meat as needed. The incredibly sad thing is that this particular location could use a good truck. You have a huge captive audience with pretty terrible restaurants nearby. You could literally serve spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread at $10 a plate, and as long as it was damn good, you'd have a huge number of customers. Instead you've shot yourselves in the foot... word is out that your truck sucks. I noticed a distinct lack of people around your truck when it showed up earlier this week. My guess is that you're really a catering business with pretensions of fine dining. Truck was parked in front of my training facility on my last day of training and I wish it had been here all week. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but I was skeptical about the pasta being mushy. I was pleasantly surprised, the pasta was al dente, cooked perfect. Ordered the Milanese Chicken w/Fettuccine. Presentation was appetizing. Everything tastes fresh and home made. A corner small piece of the chicken was very salty but not the entire piece. First of all, I'm a pretty harsh scorer SO for this food truck to get a 3/5 is decent. Short and simple review: I'm a big chicken parm buff so I got the Milanese with breaded chicken and penne. It was $11, which is pretty average for food trucks in DC. It was nice and hot when I opened it up and had a good looking presentation. The chicken was a GOOD size. The sauce had great flavor. Easily the best food truck in DC and some of the best Italian food in the area (that says a lot coming from a native New Yorker). My top menu items: Lobster and crab ravioli - 5* - Decadent and rich. A dish of this quality would easily be $25+ in a restaurant for a much smaller portion. Chicken pesto pasta - 4.5* - Tasty pesto sauce, a good amount of chicken, a ton of pasta. Chicken milanese - 4.5* - A huge portion of chicken (by DC standards), good sauce, and lots of pasta. I've had food from this truck 10+ times and the quality has always been top notch. The pasta is proper al dente (rare to find even in restaurants here), the tastes are authentic, and the value is great given the good portion sizes. My ONLY complaint is that they don't come to Chevy Chase/Friendship Heights often enough! read more

The portions are generous, and there is ample meat in the pasta, which does feel "home-made," but alas the bar has been set quite high for pasta trucks in DC thanks to Basil Thyme: Tempo de Pasta has a nice, clean truck and a very friendly, hard-working crew, but the quality of the sauces is compromised by an apparent canned-tomato-sauce flavor, less exciting pasta texture in the dishes, and an unappealing vinaigrette on dull iceberg lettuce in the salad, in contrast for example with Basil Thyme's sublime menu, which this truck seems to have sought to copy dish-for-dish (ravioli, lasagna, various sauce options, a crab/lobster stuffing option, a small salad included with each order) but have not yet matched in refinement. I would put three stars but two says "meh" and three says "A-OK" so, 2.5 stars. read more

My toddler loved your chicken pesto pasta! Getting a toddler to eat your food is like receiving a Michelin Star. So yeah the food here was pretty good. Honestly, I have high standards for Italian cuisine so I was a bit skeptical about an Italian food truck but this place was delicious!! The portion were really good for $10.00. As good as it gets for some comfort food on a Friday! I'm always wary of Italian restaurants and food trucks, hoping to avoid the "Olive Gardens," but this is the real deal -- delicious Italian food that tastes very fresh. The only (and I mean only) criticism I had is that I would have liked the pasta/sauce to pack a little more of a punch. Next time I will be adding a few red pepper flakes to give it a kick. This one had some mixed greens, shredded carrots and tomatoes with a nice balsamic vinaigrette. The bread was pretty standard, but perfect for sopping up my extra sauce. Great value -- a FULL meal for $10! One element of this food truck that cannot go unmentioned is the customer service. Both the woman taking orders and the man preparing the food were incredibly kind and attentive, offering suggestions and seeming genuinely interested in hearing feedback about your meal. It is so refreshing to see an italian food truck in the DC area and after having been to the Tempo Di Pasta twice already I can tell you how delicious it was! They are a family owned and operated truck with a rich italian history and make everything fresh daily. Their portions are filling and I recommend sharing with a coworker or save some for dinner because it was perfect! I've ordered the chicken milanese and the ravioli and both were great! I was having difficulties in deciding what to order and the truck owner's son helped me out and even customized my pasta order from penne to linguini. Super nice! Unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed in my experience at Tempo today. It was my first time trying it and I read the reviews online first to figure out what I might like there. I ended up going with the lobster/crab ravioli. Having read the reviews I assumed my order would come with a salad and bread as others had noted. However, when I asked about this, I was told they no longer provide salads as part of the meal (which was part of the initial appeal for me). And, they were out of bread for the day. It was 12:15. On a miserably cold and rainy (and slow) day. So, you get less food for the same prices (still $12 for the seafood ravioli). Service was nice and fairly fast considering it's made to order. But I wasn't that impressed with the food - the oil in the sauce separated and it was a bit too garlic-y (from someone who loves garlic). Portions were large though.
