Tldr: impressive specialty teas like their Drifting in Dreams and Lavender Forest really sets this shop a step above everyone else on Newbury. (4.5 but I'm rounding up. Minor ding for sometimes running out of boba topping.) I've returned to this shop a couple times since my first review, and wow am I blown away by some of their teas. I've tried all of their floral teas and a couple fruity ones. The Lavender Forest and Grapefruit green tea are two of my favorites. I especially love that their grapefruit tea has some grapefruit pulp. The slight bitterness of the grapefruit really complements the green tea well. (I get 30% sugar so perhaps at full sugar there's no bitterness at all.) I love that the teas have such distinct flavor profiles. Osmanthus pineapple is incredibly refreshing and summer-y, while Drifting in Dreams makes me want to cozy up with a nice book. Note: Floral teas can't have their sugar or ice adjusted (likely because changes would mess up the gorgeous gradient the drinks have before they're shaken). There are many topping options like aloe and fruit jelly. They offer several boba types: white honey pearl, blue butterfly pearl and brown sugar pearl. Finally a good boba spot near the Prudential! I've been hunting for high quality boba ever since I moved to the city, and have found myself fairly disappointed. While I love a good cup from Gong Cha, I've been looking for me. Now, I feel like I can cease my search! The Ten One Milk Tea is flavorful and pretty typical as far as milk tea goes. The brown sugar boba was chewy and sweet, the perfect texture. In my opinion, the quality of a boba spot completely depends on the quality of their boba, and I definitely was not disappointed. The winner of the trip was the osmanthus pineapple iced tea - it was a perfect balance of light sweetness and fruitiness. My friend gave it a 10/10, rare given her pickiness of iced teas. One of my new favorite boba places around Boston! A great location on Newbury St with lots of unique drinks. Store decor and drinks are both very aesthetically appealing. Can get a bit pricey depending on your customizations, but it's worth trying their unique boba options while you're here. This is my second visit and I enjoyed myself a lot more this time around. Just something to keep in mind if you're planning on coming early. We got the grapefruit green tea which was very refreshing and tasted very fresh and the rose roselle tea which I wasn't really a big fan of, it tasted very watered down with a hint of rose flavor. Bomb, bougie bubble tea shop that's fits in perfectly on Newbury street! Ten One took over SAMA desserts (that are still sold there) and serve up really fresh bubble tea with their own made boba! I ordered the tin guan yin tea with blue butterfly pea boba and whole milk. The toppings are $1 and whole milk is an extra 50 cents (The standard is a creamer). The boba is a little smaller than the standard size, but still fresh and chewy, since butterfly pea doesn't have much of a taste and is used more for coloring. They don't mix the drinks, so you can see the layers of tea and milk when they give it to you. My friend and I came here on a Tuesday night around 7:30pm after dinner and it was pretty quiet. There were two girls who ordered ahead of us and only one person working so it took a while to get our drinks. I ordered the Lavender Forest, which I enjoyed and my friend ordered an Earl Grey Milk Tea, which didn't have much of an earl grey flavor. The tapioca was a good, chewy texture. The space is clean and bright but relatively small. It seems like a good place to hang out for a bit. read more

The quality of the bubble tea is 10/10. They offer a speciality selection of bubble tea and for the price, it's worth it. It's definitely a little expensive (2 drinks for $15) but worth as a "treat yourself" (and for the aesthetic). I absolutely adore this boba spot on Newbury street! I normally order the green milk tea with boba with regular sweetness levels. The boba itself has a really nice brown sugar sweetness to it that really adds to the flavor of the drink. The drink is on the lighter side, with a perfect combination of tea and creaminess. It doesn't taste too rich or over sweetened. They have three different milk options: whole milk, creamer and I think a non dairy creamer. They normally use whole milk unless you ask for something different. I think this is what gives the drink that light, clean taste to it. I normally come pretty close to closing (sorry!), and they never seem to be out of boba, and they never close their doors early (which I've seen some restaurants do). I went here around 3-4pm and it was packed. The building this business is in is pretty small and doesn't seem properly set up to socially distanced customers, everyone ends up crowding around the menu to see what to order which puts them in the way of the line to order. So there is a lot of confusion on who is in line and who is just looking at the menu. There was also a huge box of fruit (grapefruit and limes?) in the area customers are supposed to stand to wait for drinks taking up already limited area inside and making the interior look messy. The server also seemed annoyed when asked to explain what are in some of the mysteriously named drinks (drifting in dreams). I assume if you don't want to be asked it should be explained below the name of the drink what is in it. When we ordered they were out of many items including brown sugar boba, white boba, etc. We also were not allowed to personalize the sugar level in some of the drinks. I'm confused why the aloe lemon tea can only be 100% or 50% sugar, why not no sugar? I also cannot understand why the rose honey tea cannot have any personalization to sugar or ice. The servers also seemed overwhelmed and confused about the drinks. To be honest, paying close to 7 dollars for a milk tea is never worth it. There is a huge margin these stores charge. Normally I wouldn't try it but apparently this new store on Newbury soaked the boba in fruits which is original. It stands out from a normal bubble tea place. I ordered a tieguanyin milk tea. Taste pretty refreshing and not super sweet. But just a touch too much ice. Less or no ice is better is the winter. They have other fancy options to choose from as well. Decided to give this place a try on Saturday afternoon after seeing all the 5 stars reviews but I was not impressed. First the space was definitely not great for social distancing during Covid and it looked like they weren't prepared for opening with tables pushed up against the back side wall and bags of fruit sitting on the floor where people were waiting for drinks. The menu is more geared towards more floral teas but they did have items I've not seen at other chain stores. They have special like the drifting in dreams and lavender frost but the menu didn't have a description of what is in it and when we asked the girl at the register, she wasn't able to give us a clear explanation of what it is. We did see other people order it and it looked pretty though. We wanted to order the brown sugar boba but they ran out. It was only 3pm and they had run out of the brown sugar boba and the white pearls. They did say a new batch would be ready but I wasn't willing to wait over 30 minutes for a drink. So we ordered the grapefruit green tea, lemon aloe tea and rose honey tea. I would say that if you like sweet drinks that just taste like juice, then this is the place for you. I could not taste the tea at all. Also, the menu says that you can customize the sugar levels but that was not really the case with all their drinks. For the lemon aloe tea I asked for no sugar no ice but was told that it can be only 50% or 100% sugar. Didn't make sense to me but I opted for the 50% sugar and no ice. When I got my drink there was ice in it and it basically tasted like watered down lemonade with aloe. Overall, I wasn't impressed with this place this time around but I would be willing to give the milk tea a try next time. read more

I grabbed a milk bubble tea and it just wasn't my kind of drink. I asked for regular milk and it tasted too milky and watery for me. Brown sugar boba was pretty good but overpowering with the watered down tea. I ended up chucking the drink after a couple of sips which I rarely do. Ten One Tea House is a great place to get a tasty bev. My sister and I usually get their Tieguanyin (a type of Oolong) milk tea with brown sugar boba or their Strawberry Earl Grey tea with aloe jelly. The Tieguanyin milk tea is great if you prefer stronger herbal flavors. I find that with some milk teas, the milk component can overpower the tea but Ten One Tea House has crafted the perfect balance with this very one!! If you're in the mood for a fruity bev, the Strawberry Earl Grey is a delight. It only comes in one size (small) and it's so refreshing and yummy during the summer. The Earl Grey flavor isn't super apparent so the strawberry really comes through. I've also tried their Earl Grey milk tea and it's pretty tasty but the tea flavor isn't super apparent! I'm not a fan of their Brown Sugar Boba milk tea since the flavors get kind of muddled/don't really come through. Ten One Tea House offers milk substitutions so I always get my milk tea with oat milk! Also, they honestly have some of the best brown sugar boba I've ever tasted. I'd you love boba this spot is for you, not only is all the stuff home made, it is a very cute store and has decaf options for a few menu items. The desserts are quite elegant and cute! When I passed by this tea shop I was excited to see the great variety of tea selections they have. I am a big fan of Tie Guan Yin so I was looking forward to it being integrated into bubble tea. I got mine without ice, 70% sugar, and with lactose free fresh milk (which is a dollar extra btw because I was a little surprised to see my bubble tea totaling to almost 7 dollars), and to me it tasted like water. Not that it wasn't sweet enough but the tea was very light and the milk was not creamy enough. It is refreshing but not what I was looking for. On the other hand, the osmanthus honey tea very refreshing so if I do ever go again that will be my go to option. I decided to come here since I wanted a instant bubble tea fix after eating lunch. While entering the shop, I noticed the simple counters, clean appearance, and the vibrant art on the walls that's perfect for taking photos. The menu is on the wall at your right. The girl at the front greeted me and said to ask her if I had any questions. However, I had a few issues/criticism: - There's no paper menus (especially during these difficult times of being in a pandemic). I find that it would be helpful to have paper menus especially since some newbury stores are upstairs and it's not easy for people who can't go upstairs. - The service: neither the bobarista or the girl at the front announced that my drinks were done. The female bobarista was not friendly. - The pearls were extremely soft. It's easily a choking hazard and I swallowed a few without chewing it thoroughly. The pearls were also on top of the drink in comparison to it being at the bottom -- my fault for not looking at the image on the menu properly. Anyways, I didn't get any pearls until I finished 70% of my drink. Our order: -Both drinks were on the "Top 10" list: brown sugar and mango slush -I found that the mango slush (with blue butterfly pearl) was mediocre. Save your time and money. I'd rather stick to my usual bubble tea spot. It's unfortunate since I was willing to try a new bubble tea place spot. It came first on yelp.
