Basic menu items only include a Black or Oolong tea under their milk tea portion. Flavored teas are also available but with limitations. Sweetness level choices are also not available. Service was really slow. Me and two friends came here for lunch during our break from work. We arrived when the place was somewhat empty, so before it got busy. We ordered two dishes and three drinks total. It took over thirty minutes to serve our drinks and what's worse is that we had noticed the drinks sitting on the counter waiting to be served for almost 10 minutes (we didn't realize they were ours or I would have gotten it myself). The food (two chicken dishes) took over 40 minutes to be served, and mind you we had put in our orders before the place got busy. Unfortunately by the time our meals were served it was nearly time for us to head back to work. I don't know if they're currently low on staff or if there was some other issue, but currently they are not prepared to handle lunch rushes. Also, it's not like the food was so great as to make up for these issues. Haven't been here for half a year. We had the kimchi fried rice, joy pot and a milk tea. The drink was good and not super strong. The the kimchi fried rice was and it came with a fried egg. The level of spiciness cannot be adjusts though. For the joy pot, it was good as well. The joy pot is like any other hot pot out there. I like coming to this Ten Ren because they make excellent drinks, there's easy parking, and there's hardly a wait. I'm sure they get busy at certain times of the day, but fortunately the times I've gone...no wait. The last time I went I bought a regular sized green tea and a regular sized green tea with grass jelly and 1/2 sugar (the half sugar here is really half sugar, not like some other Ten Ren locations where half sugar is still too sweet for me). This is one old-school looking tea shop. There are jugs of dried teas on the left when you walk but and even though that is is very traditional, I wasn't focused on that. I was focused to the menu on the right. The top 5 drinks. I ended up getting the boba oolong milk green tea. The waitress and drink maker were very nice and efficient. Got the drink in a jiffy with barely enough time to try their sample drink. My drink was good. They made it the way i like it with less ice and and less sugar. The oolong wasn't super prominent which is kind of a bummer but it was good enough. My friend and I were in and out within minutes. Don't seem like a good place to study and I'm not sure if they even have wifi. They have a bunch of other snacks on the menu and set plates with rice on the side, which all looked amazing but I was just craving some boba. Damn I love this place and not because their awesome drinks are overpriced, but because their drinks are so good. I always get a large almond milk tea with pudding but costs over $5. Pretty pricey compared to many places. I've also gotten their Garfield milk tea which is basically milk tea mixed with brown sugar, in case you were wondering. Their strawberry milk tea was pretty good, too, with strawberry chunks included. They also have a sample of a drink each day. They had put out a sample of a cucumber green tea and it was surprisingly really good; just really refreshing, too. I'm planning on getting this the next time I come back. Friendly staff who were kind enough to make us drinks when they were cleaning up and getting ready to close. That was a mistake on our part as we thought they'd be closed a bit later. No complaints from them and they were still so nice. We come here often and prefer this Ten Ren that we are almost addicted. I wouldn't try their food, though, mainly because it doesn't seem so appetizing here. This place is quite small and also very quiet. My usual order at this spot would be a bubble milk green tea and the braised pork rice for lunch. The portions are great for the price that the customer pays and I can easily have the meal two times. As for the drinks, i think the size and price is reasonable due to some drinks offering Pearl as a topping. However, i would not recommend getting the matcha milk tea because it gets very powdery only after twenty minutes. My biggest complaint about the place is that they don't give you a stamp card for the drinks that you order and that you have to ask for it. I haven't been to this location in a long time and was craving for there food and drink. I am glad they are open so I have another place I can go during my lunch break at work. They have a really good amount of selections on food and drink. The online order system was very easy to use and I can do curb side pick up. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and jasmine green tea. They were so delicious! The ramen was flavorful and has enough of meat, corn, egg, and soup to fill you up. I decided to get the jasmine green tea instead of my usual pineapple green tea because the pineapple green tea for some reason makes my throat dry and causes me to cough later. I don't know if it's the powder they use in there or what, but I wouldn't order that again. The jasmine green tea was just perfect. It was refreshing and don't have to worry about those issues. They have a huge parking structure, but on a normal day it gets really busy. I am glad I can take advantage of the curb side pickup right now while I can. The staff are friendly and helpful. Best thing about Ten Ren is the quality of the tea they use for their drinks. This place has some of the best milk teas in the San Gabriel Valley. My personal favorite is the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea. Ten Ren somehow manages to get the best flavors out of the teas they serve. The tea drinks do not have a bitter taste, which usually mean the tea leaves were steeped too long. Other drinks I've tried and also enjoyed are the Honey Green Tea. It seems like Ten Ren uses quality honey in their drinks because when you taste the honey it is very flavorful without being too sweet. Don't forget about the toppings! Their boba is really good. I enjoy it because it's firm in the middle, while not too squishy and slimy on the outside. If you have some time, make sure to take a look at their loose leaf tea. I'm a pretty big fan of tea and boba places. I've been to Tea Station, half and half, guppy, cha, tapioca express, quickly, AU-79, and several "mom-n-pop" places. This has become my favorite place for green milk tea w/ boba. Here's why: 1. Their green milk tea is delicious - I like it better than half and half, tea station, tapioca express, and even other ten-ren locations.. 2. The tea is only $2.50. It's cheaper than a lot of the top-quality tea places. 3. It's not crazy busy, so you can get served really quickly. 4. I watched as they mixed the milk and green tea and boba in front of me. They didn't just ladle tea from a pre-made batch that was mixed at some undisclosed time. Just a note: It's on Garvey and it's closest cross street is Garfield. There is no "Ten-ren" sign outside of the store. This is kinda shady - in the same way when you buy a shirt that says NAKE instead of NIKE or a purse that says LA instead of LV. I think it's funny that "Ten Ren" isn't prominently featured, since it's a pretty well known brand! (Addendum: I checked the tenren website and confirmed it is an legit tenren location, but their proprietor just opts to run the business a little differently than some of the other locations) Anyway...If you're looking for it, look for a sign that says "TEA AND GINSENG" on the north side of the street. I ordered my drink to go but if you order to drink in the store I saw the glass cup was 50% WAY LARGER than my Togo cup which made me slightly sad and felt like I got the bad end of the stick. So I would recommend not getting your drink Togo! Knocking down 1 star for the difference in how much drunk you get for ordering Togo vs. in store drinking. A hidden location as I pass by it all the time and never missed it since I didn't even know it existence until Clayton J pointed it out. It's a small hole in the wall but it serves up some good drinks. My favorite is the hot fruit tea. So soothing that I can just sit back and relax for a few hours. I'll have to try their foods another day but if you need a place to relax and either be by yourself or kick it with a few friends this is a place for a quiet afternoon. Boyfriend and I were waiting for seats at a restaurant nearby so we decided to look for a boba place nearby since we were in SGV, it'd be expected to find one just around the corner. The menu was relatively smaller, and they had some drink I had never heard of! So my boyfriend and I decided to try two of their special ten ren only drinks ! So I got the Okinawa Matcha Milk Tea with boba and he got the Garfield Milk Tea. 1) Okinawa Matcha Milk Tea (1/5): I HAD SUCH HIGH HOPES. I was so disappointed...ok it was slightly my fault since I did ask for less sweet, but I also said just a LITTLE less sugar not hey take out all the sugar thanks. It pretty much tasted like matcha water. I asked for less ice as well, which resulted in a regular sized "milk tea" with basically no sugar, almost no creamer, I guess slightly enough matcha, I don't even know what the okinawa was supposed to symbolize and slightly too soft boba. I was so sad. It was super watered down, had no flavor, and I don't even know if I would want to give it another chance with full sugar...I took a few sips and I tried not to waste it but my boyfriend told me to toss it if I didn't like it and he'd share his with me, and in the end I did. I couldn't gulp it down anymore. 2) Garfield Milk Tea (5/5): this was a vanilla green milk tea and IT WORKS SO WELL. It was sweet and creamy and perfect way to satisfy your sweet tooth. It's definitely a drink that would go really well with pudding or boba. However it does come with whip cream, so if I were to order it, I'd skip out on the cream, but other than that I loved it! Inside, there are many tables to accommodate those who decide to sit and chat, but they also have outdoor seating. The location is on the corner of Garvey and Garfield though - so if you don't mind the busy street view and city sounds, go for it on a nice warm day! While the atmosphere is normally very quiet and peaceful, just be aware of high school students when they get out of school. There is also the occasional blender going off. Grab a pair of earphones, turn on some of your music, and you'll be okay. MENU Their menu is more limited in terms of food and drinks compared to the others, but they have the basic. They also have some items that are not available at the other stores such as: Garfield Milk Tea, Lavender Milk Tea, Cucumber Green Tea, etc. Their presentation is also a little different. Drink items come in mason jars for regular size and large in bigger cups. They substitute creamer with real milk upon request. I'd definitely recommend the Green Milk Tea with grass jelly! Plus, they don't accept nor do they stamp Ten Ren stamp cards from other locations, other than the one in Arcadia. This location is on the smaller side compared to other Ten Ren's. This location sells Taiwanese food, tea drinks, and loose leaf teas (by the pound). Parking is at the rear of the store. The store is located on the corner of Garfield and Garvey, and I'm never sure where to park so I always end up parking nearby and walking in. BUT the drinks are always worth the extra effort. My friends were always adventurous when it comes to this place though and they've always ordered something different from their previous visits just to try them; NEVER a real complaint. + I love their employees.
