A stable with the SGV is Tea Maru. Tea Maru has been around for decades and I often find myself visiting again from time to time. Over the years, they've been consistent with their drinks and added plenty of menu options. Happy to say that they're still going strong as of today. My wife and I love their drinks. Our go to are their maru milk signature drinks and the Okinawa Latte. Their maru milk is very unique compared to other boba shops and it's definitely their most popular drink. It has a organic fresh milk feel combined with house made brown sugar and creamy cheese foam. Absolutely refreshing and not too heavy. Staff is great as well, sometimes now a bit understaffed but they do their best to get the drinks ready. There's plenty of to go/online orders as well which is good to see. From one of the best strawberry fluffy matcha to one of the worst. I used to go to the Arcadia location for the fluffy matcha. It was so good. I could actually taste the fresh milk. It was quality. The last time I was there, the quality went down. I felt like they changed the milk to a cheaper milk. I stopped going. Just found out that it closed down as well. I have also tried the strawberry fluffy matcha here once. Other times, I got their teas and milk teas with fresh bobas. It wasn't that great so that was the reason why I went to the Arcadia location even though this one was closer. I was near this location last night so decided to give it a try. The location is quite busy and the parking lot was full. We did find a spot on the street and just walked over. The location is small and seating is very limited. You can place your orders on the kiosk near the register. There's not much decoration going on, but you can study or do some work here. The drink menu is extensive and adjustments with sweetness can be made. We ended up trying the Okinawa Latte & Sweet Potato Fluffy Matcha. The drinks were made fast and we enjoyed them there. Tea Maru is located in San Gabriel in a small plaza on Las Tunas & Mission. Stopped in after a couple years. The space is bright and clean, with a long bench along the wall. However, there are too few tables to make it feel like a spot to hang out. Ordering is done at a kiosk, which feels a bit impersonal, and there was no greeting from the one employee behind the counter--even though we were the only customers. The kiosk also prompts for a tip before service, which didn't feel warranted based on our experience. On the plus side: The drinks were good. I had the Okinawa milk tea latte, subbing boba for pudding. It was nice to have options to change toppings, choose milk alternatives, adjust ice, and set your preferred level of sweetness. Came here for a quick boba pick me up and the drink was heavy on the milk than the tea. Half sweetness was still quite sweet. The handmade boba is the real star here which was perfectly chewy. I used to come here a lot to study/do some work but I haven't been here in several years. I returned here to do some work last weekend. It was pretty empty inside so I was able to get a table near an outlet. I went to look at the menu and decided on the Tea Maru latte because it was one of their popular items. I was waiting to be helped but then realized they have a little self-order kiosk so I used that instead. When it came to the sugar level, it only gave me the option of 70%. I thought that maybe due to the drink already being premade, they couldn't adjust the sweetness beyond that?? I still am not sure of that but it was WAY too sweet. I didn't even finish my drink. I thought my teeth were going to fall out or I'd go into a shock or something. Boba is nice but I'd definitely try a different drink with a very low level for sweetness. This place is super popular though. I was in there between 1-2 hours and many people came in to order to-go and I did hear them adjusting they sweetness lower than 70%. I'd suggest ordering by speaking to an employee vs using the kiosk. Inside of the cafe is no frills. There are 2 handicapped two-seater tables in the front, a larger 6-seater table in the front , and 2 4-seater tables (half booth, half chairs) in the back. Parking was full so it took me a while to find parking. Be patient though. People are leaving all the time. read more

The owner then came back, didn't apologize and pretended nothing happened. The staff apologized to me though, 5 stars for her. She even said her boss doesn't know how to redeem vouchers. Seriously, if you don't know how to redeem a voucher, just admit it and get help. Don't accuse the customers giving you a used one. All the drinks have customizable options like strawberry or sweet potato boba! Also, if you can't do Organic milk, they don't charge extra for Soy / Oat / or Lactose Free Milk :). On some the sugar level can be adjusted to 75% by default only. And others you can't adjust at all. Others are adjustable from 25/50/75. So it all depends on the drinks. You can't adjust also state the ice level. It was fairly easy to order online. FYI: if you order gift cards, you actually get the gift card via text after 5 minutes (card info is not included in the initial email) and you can use that right away on their website. It was nice and easy. Drinks are a bit pricey now at average prices $6.00-$6.50 a Large one, and any additional toppings will run you upwards of $7/8 a drink after taxes. What's nice though is that if you're signed up for their rewards they will often send you coupons for 10/15/20% off your entire order :) The place is still bright and clean. Lots of small tables and lots of middle open space so you don't feel suffocated like other small boba shops. Parking is a small lot shared with rest of establishments on the strip but not bad. Drinks are great, but customer service definitely varies. My family comes here often and we love the Strawberry Fluffy Matcha and Mango Fluffy Matcha (or really any of their fluffy matcha drinks). The drink overall is quite sweet, but not too too sweet and the matcha is good quality. The boba is also good as well and I'd also recommend the Okinawa slush. The interior doesn't have much seating so I'd say it's more of a grab and go spot. I will say, there's been an occasion where the employees were cursing and insulting each other or have been a bit standoffish. Fortunately, Tea Maru holds its own and was a great spot to grab boba.
