Earl Grey Milk Tea and Ube Milk Tea
Archie S.

A cute and nice little tea shop in Alhambra. Very hip decor and style with a decent amount of seating area. Parking in the area can be tricky sometimes so plan accordingly. They have a nice selection of drinks from tea to fruit drinks and more. I always love trying a milk tea when I go to new places and here I had to try the Earl Grey Milk Tea. For toppings they were out of grass jelly so I did Lychee jelly and Boba. Along with that I also got to try their Ube Milk Tea as well. The Milk Tea was ok in my opinion. I think it lacked depth and the after taste of Earl grey and the boba could have been a little more fresh. The Ube was ok as well, once again felt more watery and lacked depth even though both drinks were with easy ice. Still a great place to get some tea and relax in Alhambra. I'd still come back here to try other things out but as for now it's industry average.

Sundried Tomato & Pesto Chicken

Located in downtown Alhambra, is a cute little Taiwanese Inspired Cafe. Walking in, you first order at the counter and you're given a number for your table and they will bring over your order. It's very casual and plenty of people come here to chat or do some work. There's plenty of outlets available. I ordered a black tea, popcorn chicken rice plate, and a sun-dried tomato pesto chicken. The black tea tasted like a regular black tea, not watered down at all. Definitely refreshing. The sandwich was very filling! It looks like a regular sized sandwich but I was not able to finish it! The chicken was very moist and soft, not dry at all. The pesto had a really good flavor, and the bread was really soft and crispy for a sourdough bread. I love when a sourdough is done right. It came with a salad and a red dressing, I forgot whether if it was tomato or strawberry, but I really enjoyed it all. I also took a bite of the popcorn chicken rice plate and never could have thought to eat it with rice, corn and cabbage. Chicken was again, most and soft. It was also flavorful with a bit of kick. It goes really well with rice and felt like a really cozy meal. I really enjoy the food and atmosphere. I'll definitely come back to try the other items on the menu! Highly recommend this place if you're near here.

Bon Appetea is a charming Taiwanese inspired cafe located in downtown Alhambra, housed in a building over 100 years old. It's popular for its extensive tea selection, Taiwanese street snacks, and as a study spot with free WiFi. Interior is casual, cozy, and trendy with "old world charm". It can get busy and loud in the evenings with students. Popular drinks include Hokkaido Milk Tea, Potted Milk Tea, Green Milk Tea and Lavender Milk Tea. Popular favorite food are Popcorn Chicken Rice Plate and Sundried Tomato & Pesto Chicken Sandwich that served on sourdough, you can swap the side salad for sweet potato fries. Some popular and savory munchies are garlic fries, spicy wontons, and Taiwanese sausage. Free street parking is available and there's a free parking lot located across the street.

My go-to location for boba tea when I'm in the area! They have many different varieties of pearls and flavors for your choosing. My personal favorite is their lychee boba!

Sundried Tomato & Pesto Chicken (recommended) $13-15

Price: Low to medium. The sun dried tomato pesto chicken sandwich with substituted fries runs about $15. Drinks range around $4-$8 depending on what you order. Location: Located among other businesses worth visiting nearby, including the local library and surrounding shops. Parking and traffic are generally relaxed. There is 2 hour parking available in lots on either side. Ambiance: Feels more "home like" than a typical chain coffee shop. Seating includes couches, bar seating with a street view, and tables with outlets. A restroom is available, and the space tends to attract a calm crowd. Menu: There's a solid range of options without being overwhelming. The sun dried tomato pesto chicken sandwich has been choice and why we revisit. Self serve chilled water is available. Service: Consistently kind and welcoming.

Cute and cozy spot, I love to come do work on my laptop here because it's so chill. Drinks are great, I've been very much on this Peach Green tea and then I add the Sea Salt Cream -- tastes divine, truly Service is nice too, staff is super friendly and always make the drinks to the best quality. The bites are really yummy too, my favorites being the sweet potato fries (pictured), fried tofu, and the fried mushrooms (actually the best).

Lychee Oolong Tea

One of the best Popcorn chicken place in town. It is crispy outside and soft inside, the batter has nice flavor. Lychee green tea: 3/5, lack of lychee flavor, tea is quite watered down. Otherwise, I'd come back here to study and work, it has quite cozy environment. Service is good as well. Parking is located to the right.

Came here for some boba but was surprised by the delicious snacks (sweet potato fries, fries, calamari and fish cake). Very tasty! I also ordered the drink with avocado and mango. That was also a pleasant surprise. Pretty good. Fast and friendly service. The place was clean. It was a bit stuffy inside, but we opened the door to cool down. Highly recommend .

There's free parking in the back. Still a great place to study. Got the strawberry yogurt $5. It was not good. Also, got the taro milk tea $5.25. It also was not good. Tasted very powdery. Used to come here for their popcorn chicken. I'll stick to their popcorn chicken next time.

Bon Appetea Cafe offers a huge menu full of anything you will be craving that day. Whether it's truffle fries or some coffee, you will for sure find something you'll end up loving and thinking about for the next few weeks. Bon Appetea Cafe has an awesome ambiance that is almost therapeutic. The seating and interior is perfect and comfortable for whether you want to eat, read, or do homework. They have self serve water which is also a nice touch. Overall, a great hole in the wall place that I recommend to EVERYONE.

Happy hour combo from 2-5pm is only $9.99. Includes a drink and popcorn chicken. Great deal!

This cafe is a great place to study for students. There's plenty of seating and tables but they go fast. Inside is very chill and not too noisy. I've tried a few drinks and most of the food menu thus far. The food has always been tasty. And the drinks consistent. Although the menu can be tricky to read at first. There's different locations to find what tea drinks they have but it's manageable.

Chrysanthemum milk tea and sea salt green tea
Selene S.

Tried their other locations before so knew this one would be pretty dependable. They have seats inside and outside. Staff was okay and took our order very quickly. The chrysanthemum milk tea and sea salt green tea were both good. We adjusted the ice and sugar levels. The price for this size is good compared to other places.

The tea is good, but the customer service is pretty bad. Honestly, they'd be better off just using a self-order machine.

Do they still have all-day happy hour?

As of 12-21-20, their rotating $2.99 drinks are all day. I believe their combo deal ( drink and snack) is still 3-6pm.

Do you allow dogs inside? Especially good to know on such hot LA summer days

No but they will provide your dog with water outside

Do they let dogs inside?

Yes as long as they're on a leash

Tight seating on the inside. Decent AC. We ordered the popcorn chicken, shrimp fried rice, and pan-fried pork baos. I hadn't eaten popcorn chicken in a long time so I loved the dish and will be back for it. I did notice that there were quite a few smaller chunks of just flour. Shrimp fried rice is hard to mess up. Was also pretty solid. Pan-fried pork baos are tasty, filled with soup, and actually heated up well the next day in an air fryer too. Cost was reasonable and I enjoyed the food. Will certainly be back.

The fried squid was crispy, big pieces and not greasy, and we chose the mild spicy level but it was a bit spicy if you couldn't handle spicy at all. The potstickers had a juicy, well-seasoned filling. I recommended dip it on black vinegar. It tasted so good. Beef noodle soups had rich broth with tender beef, and the tendon was cooked perfectly. The Dan Dan noodles had a nice balance of nutty, and spicy flavors. Service was quick and didn't have to wait long for the food to come. Price is not that expensive and portion is decent. Restaurant is small and tables are closed to each other.

The popcorn chicken is a must - the portion was huge and the mild flavor was top notch. The beef noodle soup was also solid. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Atmosphere inside was hip and vibey. Overall, this is a great restaurant and I'd highly recommend others to try their dishes.

From the outside, you can't tell the inside has really good space with booths plus tables and chairs, but it does. They weren't super busy at the time... about 5 tables occupied. I was greeted right away by the one server who was working the entire floor. Interior was clean and well lit. Atmosphere was comfortable. Menu has a variety of options... boiled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, steamed mini buns, stir-fried noodles, regular noodles, rolls & pancakes, side dishes, rice, soup, and beverages. They also have frozen food to-go (just two items... dumplings and dezhou chicken). I got one Steamed Mini Buns (aka Xiao Long Bao), one Stir-Fried Noodles with pork, one Lamb Noodles Soup (with hand torn noodles), and one Jasmine Green Tea with honey. Yes, this seems like a lot of food for one person. I'm not a stranger to bringing food home for another meal. *Steamed Mini Buns - juicy with flavorful pork filling, adequate skin thickness, good size buns *Stir-Fried Noodles with pork - best dish out of the 3, good balance between pork, veggies, and noodles, mild spice level was perfect, portions were reasonable for the price *Lamb Noodles Soup - great amount of lamb and noodles, lamb was tender, noodles were a tad mushy on the edge... they need to be firmer, soup was savory *Jasmine Green Tea with honey - good size cup, tea was a bit bitter, probably needs more honey Food came out steaming hot and timely. Staff and service were wonderful. Yan, the server, was patient and helpful. He did an amazing job working the entire floor by himself. Thank you Yan! Highly recommend this place for their pan-dried and soup noodles. I would come back for more pan-fried noodles and try their pan-fried dumplings. When I called to make a reservation, the staff explained that the goose dish requires a pre-order and isn't cheap. In fact, the price for half a goose is comparable to ordering a bone-in ribeye steak at a high end steakhouse. However, we are glad we went for it. The goose arrived as a cold cut plate, paired with a special dipping sauce that perfectly balanced the rich, fatty, and flavorful meat. It was my first time having Taiwanese style goose in the US, and it is absolutely worth trying if you have never had it before. The dish also came with a rice noodle soup made with goose oil, which was an excellent bonus. We didn't stop there. From the special lunch menu, we tried the pan fried egg, satay water spinach and lamb, house special braised pork rice, and fried cabbage with egg puff. From the regular menu, we ordered sticky tofu with pork blood cake, steamed cod fish, and sticky rice. The sticky rice was dry and not very flavorful, but everything else hit the spot, especially the mixed pork rice, which was outstanding and highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Taiwanese comfort food. On later visits, we went back for classics like three cup chicken, fried stinky tofu, jalapeño pork, and the Taiwanese cabbage pot. The cabbage pot was a standout, just generous portions, packed with variety, including fish balls, glass noodles, fried pork, and more. Some reviewers mentioned poor service, but our experiences across multiple visits have all been positive. The staff has been attentive, and the prices are very reasonable as long as you stick with the regular menu. Overall, the flavors are authentic, the portions satisfying, the only downside is after eating here I am always feeling thirsty because of MSG, but it won't hurt overall satisfaction and I will definitely keep coming back for more if I am in the area and craving for some Taiwanese cuisine.
