TLDR: Do not go to Tend Dental under any circumstances because they will lie to you by charging a much higher price than they quote during the service. The longer version is that I scheduled a tooth extraction in early May 2025. I was told that $250 would be placed on my credit card to reserve the appointment and any remaining amount would be credited back after the service. So far, so good. I was told by the staff there during the extraction procedure that I could choose one of two options: the cost after insurance would be either $88 for just a tooth extraction or $158 with a bone graft included. I opted for the bone graft since I thought that $158 was a reasonable cost. I asked them to confirm the cost again and was reassured that that was the correct amount. At no time was I presented with a written estimate breaking down what the total cost would be that Tend Dental would be submitting to my insurance company. I waited until mid-June to call Tend to inquire about the credit card refund that I was due from the original $250, which should have been $250-$158. I was told that the bill in fact was $2045, of which $513 was covered by insurance. That plus the $250 they had already charged to my credit card meant that they are now asking for $1282. This is a complete scam because Tend could have submitted any price to the insurance company since they never showed me a written amount beforehand of what they would be charging. I feel like the $250 they charged to my credit card is ultimately a reasonable amount and that plus the $513 they received from the insurance company is enough. I have sent several emails to them telling them of this and am refusing to pay. I will sue them in small claims court to offset this charge if they decide to collect this amount through a collection agency. Bottom line is that this company is completely unethical by lying about a low price and then charging a much higher one, and this is the first time I've had this happen with a dental provider. Prior dental providers always provided me with the total cost first, which I could (and usually did) decline. read more

Let's start by saying the front desk and staff are very nice and the studio is very clean. But other than that I would NEVER recommend this office. GO ELSEWHERE!!! The scheduling is absolutely unprofessional! I'm doing the breezy braces and the orthodontist never shows up to work. You will constantly be rescheduled appointments and have to wait weeks for another appointment. I have been rescheduled all of my appointments, always leading to me waiting weeks for another appointment to be open. I have been rescheduled the morning of my appointment without even being told and was sent an email for an earlier time. I have paid in full for my braces and have been asked to be switched to another orthodontist but she is the only one in the studio. I have asked to be transferred to another location and they also will not accommodate. This place is a nightmare dealing with this orthodontist. If you don't mind constantly dealing with the run around and your treatment extended, then go here. Otherwise STAY FAR FAR AWAY!! read more

I am still waiting to receive my refund from tend. Tend has rescheduled and canceled my appointment 10 minutes before it was supposed to happen 3 times now. It has been a constant struggle and disappointment. I've had to tell work 3 times now that I had a dentist appointment, moved meetings, left my house 3 times to only get a last minute call trying to reschedule it for another day. I really liked tend, I have been going there for a while now but this has destroyed my relationship with them. As soon as they remove these braces I am never going back. read more

At 8:37, on my way to the office, I received notice that my next wire had not yet arrived, which led to a rescheduling nightmare that's too long to get into here. Ill have to wait a month to be seen. All this after waiting over an hour to be seen at my last appt bc they were triple booked. Please please don't go to Tend. Your teeth will look great but if you have a job or a life or kids, you will find the scheduling impossible. It's not worth it. read more

I'm still very frustrated with how long this process took, but I am grateful Rih was able to find a resolution for me. had a procedure canceled on me at the last minute, an appointment that they made me make TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE. now they expect me to wait another month, when i will be living in another state. i have spent five days trying to get in touch with a manager, left on hold for 20 minutes at a time multiple times, they refuse to give me answers. i've called multiple locations, i've emailed their help line, i've reached out to their instagram multiple times, it's just getting to be so ridiculous. shady business practices. they just keep sending me the same generic message every day saying a manager will call me, but of course no one ever does. go to a small office dentist, this big chain crap is nothing but that...... crap. read more

Being able to watch Netflix was really nice and felt like the time flew. They were not pushy with extra cost services and the dentist was also very kind. I was so excited to come here and have the best experience ever. I was so hesitant at first. It was either going to be amazing or horrible. I went to the UWS but I have been in this location here initially to see if I could make an appointment and the receptionist was unfriendly and rude. I went for my easy braces consultation and that was an interesting experience. They did pair me with a doctor that was about to leave on maternity leave. I was so happy for her and she seemed kind, and knowledgeable. With that being said, I had a history with my orthodontist back in elementary school that went on maternity leave and I saw so many different orthodontists. So based on my person experience i skipped. I returned for a cleaning and spoke with the head of CX and about four agents to confirm insurance information and out of pocket cost. I was told all different answers but I felt confident when I spoke with head of CX. All the CX members are very kind but seem to be lazier over the telephone these past couple of months. You don't get a call back. I was told to speak with someone named Melanie and I have yet to hear back and I have been asking for MONTHS. I reached out via social media, email, phone. What a sincere nightmare. For my first cleaning appointment and I was told my hit of pocket cost was $100 after a male CX manager confirmed that it was $0. Tend allowed me to keep my appointment because of this and this was respectable. The Hygenist was professional but it was a deep cleaning and I was not eligible for polishing. I go for a cleaning every 6 months and never in my life did I need to pay for another appointment to get the polishing. I made an appointment to return but remember, can't get the call back but explained that I know how feedback can be and experiences and I'm willing to give it a try again. I had an appointment this morning before work and was texted one hour before my appointment with the copay that I was not eligible for my cleaning until the 23rd and it is the 1st. The person that made my appointment should have told me this. She went to check on it and NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I spoke with someone new and she canceled my appointment and I have yet to hear back. She said if you don't hear back from Melanie - just reach out to us again. What is that? What a complete nightmare. Oh, and j was offered something complimentary that never came. All talk, lies, disorganized. Imagine what they would do with your teeth X-rays for these new types of braces? Concerning. I don't think Tend had any idea who they were asking for a Yelp review but definitely happy they did! In fact as I was checking in for my first appointment, my dentist was ready so I didn't get to officially give my Yelp community the heads up. Anyway, what a place. Aesthetically it's amazing - far nicer than any dentist office I've ever seen - and then the service / staff keep everything super 100. Harvel was great who was my dental hygienist. Same with Marissa who was working reception and helped schedule me for another same-day appointment to get my cavity out in time. And then Dr. Le is the best. The whole experience of Tend is really far superior than any dentist I've ever had and the fact that they take almost every form of insurance around is incredible. Everyone is so nice and respectful, and it is so efficient how they handle everything and all procedures. The Netflix and Beats headsets are of course a nice touch as well, as is being open during the holiday weeks! Highly recommend a visit to Tend! read more

I spent an hour at Tend on Tuesday because they couldn't find my records because my first dentist left the practice. For some reason, nobody took the time to identify that this was a problem before I showed up so they wasted my time trying to locate the records. On my way out, I asked for a business card to speak to someone about my visit as it was bad for a number of other reasons. I was given the generic customer service number, which forces you to wait on hold for at least 15 minutes every time you call. When I pressed the receptionist for the phone number of the specific office or office manager, she told me the manager would give me a call. It has been 3 days and nobody has called. Please save your time, money, and energy and go anywhere else. read more

This is the worst business in NYC. First, they charged me $250 no show fee for an appointment that I never made. Then, I decided to give them another chance and made an appointment for my minor child. They wouldn't see her unless I gave her out cell phone number (she is a CHILD). If they can't see kids, they shouldn't advertise that they do. I took time off work and pulled her from school for this appointment which THEY CONFIRMED! The receptionist couldn't have been LESS helpful and refused to give me access to the manager (who had by the way, never called me back regarding the prior incident). The idea of booking things online is nice but the bedside manner of the actual dentists is horrible. I've been to multiple tend studios and probably won't return. The dentist briefly greeted me and randomly began massaging my jaw very aggressively. I hate going to the dentist but I also hate being touched on the face without my own consent. Just say "hey is it okay if I massage your jaw." The dentist also scolded the hygienist a few times and was overall just insulting. I've worked in restaurants, and customer service most of my life and I became a clinical social worker. I'd get fired for treating anyone at any of these jobs the way I was treated. To top things off I couldn't afford the dental work but I get a call every 5 seconds about scheduling. I made it clear it wasn't affordable. This is the type of thing that makes me not want to go to the dentist in the first place. read more

I would not recommend Tend Dental to anyone. Dentists there do not have a lot of experience, and it shows. If you need a filling, it's fine. If you need anything more than that, you are best to stay clear. I had a lot of work done there over the summer - a few cavities were filled with no issues. The problem came down to tooth number 14. A seasoned dentist would have known I needed a root canal. Heck, I knew I needed a root canal. Instead, they cleared out the decay and gave me a crown. TWO temporary crowns fell off while I waited for my permanent crown to arrive. The last one fell out while I was on an airplane. When I went back to get the permanent crown, I was told everything looked good. Nay. Nay. The bite was off (high). I went back to have them shave it down. This time, I asked for a more experienced dentist. She shaved my crown so far down, it's basically flat, no ridges. Meantime, a month goes by and I still can't chew on that side. That tooth continued to throb, indicating there was definitely still a problem with it. My dental insurance now tapped out, I decided to go to NYU Dental School. Unfortunately, the next appointment was in January. I tried to hold out, but couldn't. I went to an endodontist (not recommended by Tend) yesterday. Guess what? I had a raging infection and, yes, needed a root canal. So here we are months later. I have a low grade fever because of this preventable infection, I'm on antibiotics, and am recovering from a complicated root canal. Over the course of my "treatment" at Tend, I repeatedly took my concerns to the store manager. I even told her I thought I needed a root canal, but what do I know? (Apparently, more than them). Another complaint, as long as I'm at it, is that there is no way to reach the office directly. All calls go through a call center. You leave a message with the call center rep, they type it up, and then pass it onto the dentist. How inefficient. I will say that everyone at Tend was very sweet. They just need more experienced dentists. Unlike NYU Dental School, they are not mentored or supervised by a senior doctor. I want my $$ back. Run, don't walk, AWAY from Tend. read more

This place is a joke. I mean, customize your weird Gen Z/Millenial dental experience is nice as far as it goes, but I have never encountered a less-educated staff. I went in once for a cleaning and they said "You need a medium clean." And they charged my insurance for that visit and scheduled me for two weeks later for a medium clean. Whatever that is, fine. I come back for the stupid thing at 5pm on a Friday and they see a healing canker sore in my mouth. I say "Yes, I told you last time, I get them -all the time-."" And the doctor struts in with her "I don't want to work after 5pm on a Summer Friday vibes," and says "We have to reschedule. Who knows? That could be viral." This is not a herpes-riddled cold sore or a monkey pock. It is a canker sore. Ask Jeeves can tell you all about it if your internet dental certificate skipped that chapter. Then I said "Are you going to refund my $50 co-pay you charged?" And she said "If you want." My advice? Get a real dentist. Not a BOGO Amazon gift card giving charlatan. read more

I went here for an emergency dental visit for oral pain. I was having some teeth grinding problems and wanted a night guard. The (male) dentist asked me what my pain was and when I said a 9/10 he scoffed and said I didn't know what a pain scale meant. 1) I am a nurse- I know what a pain scale is 2) how condescending can you be?? 3) this guy has no idea the pain I have experienced from breaking bones etc 4) why ask if you are going to not listen to the answer or worse discredit the answer/ patient? They found something odd with my x-ray and said they'd refer me to another doctor since he couldn't help me. They didn't refer me ANYWHERE nor did they follow up on the messed-up X-ray. I went to Wally dental afterward and they helped refer me to someone that could help me, they validated my pain and they were able to give me a diagnosis of what happening with the tooth in question. When I told tend what happened they asked that I come in for a follow-up visit to make things right. I was shocked that they thought I would want to go back or give them another dime. If I were running an establishment and heard that a man spoke to a woman or anyone the way I was spoken to.. and also didn't even get the follow-up care that was promised??.. I would refund the person immediately and reevaluate the people I am hiring to be the face of my company. Highly don't recommend this place. read more

Tend's number one priority is to make money off of its patients by instantly recommending costly treatments and charging extraordinarily high fees, such as $250 for missing an appointment. I've been to Tend a few times for teeth cleaning which was on par with any other office. However, since their model is to have a rotating array of dentists, it can be hard to believe any of their dental recommendations, especially when the immediate rec is something very expensive. For example, I grind my teeth at night but otherwise have straight teeth. They recommended invisiline with the first tray price at approx. $5,000. This seemed like an extreme reaction so I research this as a practice and spoke with another doctor who said I should get a custom fit mouth guard. I ended up getting the mouth guard then needed another appointment to pick it up. I unfortunately missed that appointment due an unexpected work meeting and didn't have a chance to call in advance. I was charged $250 for missing an appointment to pick up my mouth guard... After this happened, I decided to do a more thorough review of other Tend reviews and saw that Tend providing erroneous advice and ripping its patients off is a recurring theme. I will no longer go to Tend and would recommend others use Zoc Doc to find a more reliable and honest dentist that their insurance covers. read more

Within 1 week following my visit (which I attended and had a cleaning), I was charged a "no show" fee for a second visit for the exact same cleaning appointment. I called to request a refund and was told "you made this second appointment or someone made it for you" - in what world would someone go get a cleaning, and then make a second cleaning appointment. Not to mention the representative I spoke to was incredibly rude, argued with me and told me how it was my fault so I would not get a refund. It is truly sad because I had a great experience with the cleaning and was very happy with my appointment - I would have highly recommended using Tend based on the services, but it seems if you go, they will scam you into no-show charges for appointments you did not make. read more

For a company that prides itself on ease in booking, I sure had a tough time just finding out if I could afford an appointment. I booked over a week in advance for a Monday appointment. I put in my insurance information and waited. I physically stopped into tend the Wednesday before my appointment to make sure my insurance would cover it. I was told they didn't know yet because the system was automatic. On the Saturday morning two days before my appointment, I got a text message from Tend saying that my insurance wasn't "active." It definitely is. I called them and they said they needed a reference number from my insurance and they didn't know why it wasn't active. My insurance doesn't answer phone calls on the weekend so I had to wait until Monday and take work time to call them. Come Monday morning, I got in touch with my insurance, got a reference number, and called tend back. They told me they had already rerun my insurance and I wasn't covered because I have an HMO rather than a PPO. I then had to cancel my appointment because it would have cost $350 for a cleaning. If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have gone into work or shifted my schedule around to accommodate the appointment. I don't understand why they couldn't have run my insurance sooner so I would have known. I was hoping for an easy dental appointment and I ended up with a headache and no appointment. read more

I've been to several Tend locations, and the dental hygienists are very good for teeth cleaning. My experiences have been great with that. However, I just can't understand why dentists won't just agree to clean your teeth without harassing you for constant x-rays when nothing is wrong. Whether the issue is avoiding radiation, unnecessary cost, or anything else. It doesn't matter. Please be aware that this dentist will refuse to do basic cleanings if you haven't agreed to unnecessary x-rays within their totally arbitrary time frame. They make up some nonsense about "liability"; however, the fact is that they are just trying to extract more money from you just to pad their bottom line. If I had pain or sensitivity, I would happily submit to an x-ray so that the dentist could properly diagnose the issue and fix it. It shouldn't be "required" outside of that criteria. Apparently, just cleaning your teeth isn't enough for them. Total nonsense. read more

I actually chose to go to Tend based on Yelp reviews. I couldn't agree more: this is THE way to do dentistry today. Tend looks nothing like a conventional dentist office and the experience is unlike any other. You are treated as if you're going to a spa! They are waiting for you and providing you with everything you need to freshen up before your consult. They then take you to the suite where everything's ready for you, including a greeting with your name on a screen, the show you want to watch and wireless headphones. I had both a cleaning and a cavity done (in 2 visits). The staff is kind and professional. Everything was painless and quick. Not only that, but you were told everything they were doing, every step of the way. What I loved the most was that someone went through the procedures step by step, breaking down the prices. No surprises there! I'll close bu saying that they're a perfect fit by being this tech forward: the Tend up gives you all you need to be in the know. I can't think of a different dentist office I'd go to. read more

A very, very disappointing experience. I paid out of pocket for several procedures at Tend. I had a gingevectomy scheduled and after calling out of work for the day, I arrived so they could tell me that the procedure was not 1100, but 3200. I couldn't pay it that day. What followed was countless emails from me to them with little to no response. Completely ignoring me. They finally emailed me back to tell me the procedure I wanted was 10k. They literally did not look in my file and had no idea what I was talking about. This was over the course of six months. All of this is forgivable, but the rudeness is not. Someone at the UES location called me to tell me it wasn't their fault, and had someone listening on the line to interject. She also laughed at me at one point (I believe her and the person listening on the line were giggling at my expense). I told her I was getting married (why I wanted the procedure) and she said "good luck with your wedding" before hanging up. Tend reeled me in with the fancy tvs and headphones, the "cool vibe" and nice decor. Go to a normal dentist. It's not worth the headache. read more

I waste my time to go there and they tell they can't clean my teeth without doing an X-ray. Why didn't they call me to explain this when I indicated it on the registration line that specifically asked about this? My experience with tend in studio was great... However, they're billing has been a joke and they have done nothing to rectify the situation. Tend messed up and did not process my wife's insurance. This resulted in 400 dollars being taken out of account with no prior warning (though they claim there was, I assure you there wasn't). They're response was a "too bad go through your insurance, it could take 2-3 months to possible retrieve those funds. No mistake of our own. In the future just comp the visit when you messed up billing, don't financially harm the patient. Shame on tend. read more

I've had a wonderful experience with the team as far as cleanings and setting up my Invisalign go. The space is very modern and approachable. However on multiple occasions they will schedule me for appointments right after my visit-- send confirmation-- but when the day comes I'm told I don't even have an appointment and "not seen in the system". This has happened three times in four months where I either call to confirm or physically show and only told to reschedule. As someone that has very specific days off and has a difficult time setting up appointments, having a company that's all over the place with scheduling is disheartening and has caused delays in care. read more

They redefined dentist visits. The care is perfect from the moment you step in with the attention to the smallest details including having everything personalized to your taste. Samantha was lovely. So gentle and made me feel so much at ease.
