Dr. Malek received rave reviews from another dentist so I knew he'd be great and he was. I needed a root canal and, because of cold weather cancellations, he did it on the spot. Wow! His receptionist was great. Charged my phone for me and gave me a snack (diabetic) in case he did the procedure. I can't say enough good things about the practice. I have been to Sutton Place twice for a cleaning. 1st time they wanted me to get a deep cleaning , root canal and cap on a tooth. I ask them if there was a cavity or if the tooth was infect since they were insisting on all the work. When they said I had no cavity or infection I decline the work. The second time I went in for a cleaning they did not take more x-rays but still insisted I get a deep cleaning , root canal and cap. When I declined the second time they ask me to find another Dentist. Warning- They are pushy and insist on work you do not need and if you dont do it they ask you not to come back. read more

I have been experiencing years of nerve pain due to a routine cavity filling they did that was unnecessary according to a number of specialists I've had to engage to try to fix the problem. They were rough with the drill and the whole manner in which I was treated leads me to believe they really only care about extracting money from patients and insurance companies. During the early days of the pandemic, one of the dentists at Sutton Place told me they lost a lot of money (as did many dentists) from not getting a lot of patients due to lockdowns. I'm sure it was hard and I feel for them. However, later when I saw them for a normal cleaning, out of nowhere they insisted I needed a "deep cleaning". What is this I asked? Never heard about this before. They said it was because my gums had real problems and this was a special procedure I needed to clean my gums. They even took pictures (which they charged me extra for) to show me my teeth needed further cleaning (before the cleaning but after the X-rays they told me this). I went through with the regular cleaning. However, on my way out, I overheard someone else being told they needed a deep cleaning. I also have a friend that goes to this office as well who was also told, you guessed it, that they need a deep cleaning. I asked for my X-rays and I showed the X-rays to my roommate from college who is a dentist in the military. He looked at them and said there was some plaque but that it should have been taken care of by the regular cleaning for which I went to the dentist (again, you get the X-rays at the beginning of the appointment, before the cleaning), nothing more and that if it wasn't, it's time to find a new dentist. I'm not accusing anyone of anything. Perhaps i really do need a deep cleaning. Or perhaps this is a way for this office to make up for some lost revenue. When I first visited Sutton Place Dentists I wrote a glowing review of the dentists and their staff.  I am now writing something completely different after they fired both myself and my wife.  The issue that brought this about was a charge for a filling that I thought was covered by my insurance.  The original diagnosis of the issue was 6 months earlier.  I am a cancer patient and dependent on my blood counts I have very limited times in which I can receive invasive procedures.  At the time of diagnosis I was given a treatment plan which I apparently signed which called for a charge due to the material they would use.  Frankly I agree that I must have signed the plan but six months later I had no memory of it or any record.  I also was never told why they used that specific material on a back of the mouth molar and I protested.  The protest resulted in my being fired from continuing as a patient.  They did however refund the cost which I never asked for. As for my wife she had a procedure that required a type of bond placed next to a loose tooth adjacent to an implant.  That bond came loose on three separate occasions and had to be replaced at each visit.  After the fourth bonding failure what transpired  next was their refusal to do any more work.  Apparently when I was fired as a patient they also fired my wife without telling me.  It was only after repeated calls that they informed her of their position.  Please note that this review is not about the competence of the dentists.  In point of fact between my wife and I we had about ten  thousand dollars of work .  Our complaint was the complete lack of professionalism shown by the staff in this matter in not explaining why an uncovered material was used and never informing either of us of her termination while having her call repeatedly for follow up appointments that were given but never confirmed or honored.   It is with regret that I have written this review about how unprofessionally we were treated. I thought I had written a review of this awful experience already. I went here about a year ago for a cleaning. First time patient. The Hygeniest told me I had NINE cavities. NINE. Then kept adding more the "more she looked at my teeth". Mind you, I get a cleaning every 6 months and have never heard this before. (I felt like I was being scammed. I went during work so I was on my lunch break. I waited OVER AN HOUR for the dentist (dr nazeri) to come in to confirm these alleged cavities. She never came in. They told me "she was still at lunch". What?? I had to get back to work as I was on MY lunch break. So I said forget it and went to leave. They had the NERVE to ask me to schedule my fillings. 1. I had never met the dentist 2. Why on earth would I give you my business if you can't even show up? 3. NO ONE EVEN APOLOGIZED. I said absolutely not. I went to another dentist a week later and showed them the X-rays I had done and they said whoever said those were cavities doesn't know what they're talking about. Money grab. Avoid this place. I waited for SOMEONE to call to apologize for wasting my time. Nope. If that's how they treat their new patients no thank you. read more

Been seeing Dr. Nazeri for a few years now. She (as well as the dental and front-desk assistants) are very friendly and helpful. I never felt Dr. Nazeri pushes me to have more treatment than I need. I generally do not have to wait long once I arrive for my appointment, except on one occasion recently where I waited around 15-20 minutes I think. Very difficult to get an appointment unless you can book 3 months out, even for emergencies. I had persistent tooth pain that ended up needing an emergency root canal. I had been seen at the office and told it would improve on its own. I had to go to another dentist because the earliest appointment offered to me would have been 5 days after I had the procedure, and 2 weeks after I called. The staff is very nice and office is clean. But would only go for cleaning which can be booked months out. read more

The biggest mistake of my life was ever stepping into this clinic, and being seen by Dr. Salim. I went to the clinic initially because I wanted to get two white composite fillings re-done, as my previous ones were getting overly stained. At that time, I showed interest in getting porcelain veneers in all my upper six teeth (to avoid the hassle of having to go to the dentist to replace the white composite resins every few years), but I had no prior knowledge of what getting those veneers actually meant. I think I was a bit intimidated because this was my first time going to a dentist in the U.S., and I ended up not questioning what the procedure entailed, the extent of which my teeth would need to be worn, or even my actual necessity for it. I was told to sign a document saying that "I was informed by my dentist of all the potential problems that could come with doing the procedure", although my longest conversation with Dr. Salim up to that point must have lasted around 2 minutes, while I had the dentist equipment whirring inside my mouth. So that's problem #1: extremely poor communication with patients. Problem #2, in turn, was that Dr. Salim will not really discuss whether you really need cosmetic treatment or not, since they are a great source of profit. Now, problem #3, and probably the worst of them: I put 6 veneers, and I had to go back to the clinic TEN times after they were installed, because the veneers kept debonding. All of them fell off within the first month, some of them fell off 2 months after they were re-cemented. I ended up eating one of the veneers accidentally. I had never experienced so much anxiety in my entire life as I did during those 3 months while they were fixing this problem - I actually still have a clenching problem that makes my jaw hurt every day, which started during that period of stress, and this does not appear to go away. After the third visit to re-cement one of the veneers, I asked the reception to change my dentist, because clearly Dr. Salim was not taking the hint that the work he was doing was not good, so they switched me to Dr. Modiri. Dr. Modiri was extremely kind, respectful, communicative, and apologetic about the entire problem which he had inherited. Considering Dr. Modiri and the other members of staff that spoke to me more often (Char, Kimberly, Delia), who really tried to make me feel more comfortable during these three months of hell, I feel slightly bad about giving this practice a one-star review. But it was THREE SOLID MONTHS of hell. Now, nearly 5 months in with these veneers, they stopped falling (Dr. Modiri sanded the veneers, and treated them with a chemical that improved their attachment to the bonding, silane). But the trauma... I just never want to step into that clinic again. read more

I have been coming here for about 9 years. I came by recommendation and have since always referred my friends and colleagues to this team with total confidence. I have had a variation of treatment spanning from cleanings, deep cleanings, gum graft and fillings. The staff is warm, friendly and go above and beyond to make patients feel cared for. Reminders are sent to make and keep appointments, which is important for me and keep me on track. They even send Happy Birthday messages. My dentist is Dr. Modiri and he is THE best. I tend to walk in anxious (often very dramatic, ha!) and he calms me down pretty quickly and keeps me laughing. If I need a filling, I never feel pain and he does it in what seems like record timing. He gives me recommendations when needed and the inner child in me loves making him proud at my cleanings. He really is my favorite! I have also seen Dr. Salim and Dr. Rashad and they are fantastic. When I needed a gum graft, I was incredibly nervous and Dr. Rashad took extra time to speak with me extensively in-person and over the phone. I experienced zero pain during the procedure and was comfortable during what I thought would be very scary. He even called to check on me during my recovery! From front office staff to hygienists and to Dr. Modiri, they all have taken their time to answer all my questions and to make me comfortable and feel like home. Even though my amazing "dentist to the stars" uncle in Los Angeles is the only dentist I've trusted for years, I just can't find the time and justification to fly across the country for a filling or a cleaning right now, so after a few persona recommendations I found Dr. Salim. I tend to require extra anesthetic and so I get really nervous when going in for any kind of dental care with a new doctor but Dr. Salim was instinctive, ensuring my jaw was good and wooden before he started any work. My 15 year-old compound fillings have all been replaced and even though my jaw was achy for a while afterward, I felt no pain. My wallet didn't hurt either. Luckily I have insurance that covers a decent amount of the care but I was billed what I was quoted, so that's always good. The office is spotless, front desk staff all really efficient and friendly without wasting time chit chatting or gossiping. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. They tried to con me out of 1K out of pocket expenses (and my insurance out of 2K+!). I have generally good teeth with the exception of the occasional cavity. Came here after a recommendation and new insurance policy only to be told I had 11 (yes, 11!) cavities, including in the front teeth, which is very hard to even happen. Dr. Modiri suggested that this was likely due to neglect by my previous dentist (who is an amazing dentist and the only reason I switched was because he doesn't take my new insurance). It took them forever to send me a "treatment plan" for me to bring to this second opinion. At this point I was willing to pay my old dentist out of pocket for anything, because I was so unhappy with my experience here. He didn't charge me for the follow up and told me that there was NOT ONE CAVITY in my mouth. In fact, he noted that one of the "cavities" noted by Dr. Modiri was a NEW FILLING! I'm not sure if this dentist is incompetent or conman, but I'm leaning towards both. read more

I really don't want to write a truthful review about Dr. Salim because I fear him getting too busy soon, but...he is just stellar. Never so good before, never so good since; he talks you through like you're intelligent and let's you choose what works for you, rather than pushing the costly route. When I needed an extraction, he hooked me up with the best surgeons NYC has to offer. The only improvement is the politeness of the phone staff. I have been a regular patient at Sutton Place Dental (and its predecessor practice) for over 15 years. The doctors are highly skilled and very nice, with terrific bed-side manners. The staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Salim is my regular dentist, and while Dr. Elahi s a pediatric dentist, I have received cleaning and whitening from her and I really like both of them. I have also had work done by Dr. Azimi and she is excellent as well. The atmosphere in the office is very patient-friendly and welcoming. So far so good. Had my first visit here and found everything to be pretty good. The office is located in a building which seems like a residential building so it was a bit confusing but the doorman can tell you where to go. Inside the actual office, the waiting area was comfortable and decorated very nicely. Receptions were very friendly and nice. The dental assistant was okay, she did her job. It took a little bit for Dr. Salim to come after though - I thought I waited a little bit too long...but he was alright. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Salim's for about 2 years now (I had to quickly choose a new dentist due to changing insurance). I can't say enough about him, or the office in general. I am usually taken right on time, or within 10 minutes. Everybody in the front office is nice, helpful and accommodating. The equipment is super high-tech, and the place is spotless. They even have TVs in the treatment rooms, should you need a dose of Real Housewives during a cleaning. As for Dr. Salim himself, when I first came he asked me about the purpose of my visit, and I answered "prevention." He then pointed out several cavities, and noted that all the fillings in my mouth were over 20 years old, and that I should consider replacing them (some had already developed cavities around the old fillings; other cavities were new). I was really surprised. I had gone to my previous dentist for 15 years -- he had a very old-school office and practice. No computers, no high-tech equipment, nothing. I never thought this was a problem until Dr. Salim showed me an x-ray of my mouth on his monitor. To his credit, he never dissed my previous dentist. He explained that some dentists have a "if the patient isn't in pain or complaining, don't drill" philosophy. Since I had said I'm into prevention, he suggested I replaced the old fillings and, obviously, deal with the new cavities - but I should stress he didn't push any of it, just laid out the facts and let me make a decision. I took his advice. It all went very smoothly, I am happy with the work that was done, and best yet, it was all covered by very reasonable insurance copays. read more

Before we went to the dentist I had read about all these things a parent needs to do to prepare your child for their first dentist appt...I was nervous. But there was not reason to be worried @ Sutton Place. First the mood in the entire office is professional, friendly and warm (not to mention immaculate and modern). Dr. Modiri gave me the worst treatment plan then basically gave me the boot after the work afterwards turned out a mess. Initially went in to get my bonding redone to fix the gaps between my laterals and front teeth. He told him to get veneers instead, I explained I didn't want to grind my teeth and he said I should be fine. He couldn't get the veneers shades correct, ended up grinding my teeth, and shaved my tooth to prep for a crown without my consent. The crown and veneer does not match each other nor my natural teeth. I have three shades at the front of my teeth. Went to two other dentists and they explained my teeth had to aligned with Invisalign to close the gaps so Dr. modiri shaved down my teeth for no reason. He did not suggest Invisalign until after he already shaved my teeth. Told me to go some place else when I started asking questions about the treatment plan, admitted to grinding my tooth without my consent. Do not trust him. read more

I hate to say this but I don't trust them at all. I thought they would be stellar because there are so many pictures of celebrities and all, and I figured if celebrities were willing to trust Dr. Salim I would too. Nope! I feel like everytime I asked for something they thought I was being ridiculous. Growing up around medical professionals my whole life I know what to expect and this office is not it. They specialize in cosmetic dentistry, so you're not going to get the same care that you would from a primary dentist. I had a cavity at the back of my molar, and they didn't even realize it until a piece of it chipped off and I needed a root canal!! You would have thought that when I came in for an exam + x-ray they would have found that... nope! And then when I asked for an emergency appointment, they were not willing to let me come in the same week. UM hello? I can't eat DRS!! I went to my uncle in PA who said that I needed a root canal ASAP, but of course the Drs at Sutton Place were not worried at all? My uncle said that my smile was very deceiving because the Drs had done a good job of the cosmetics, but he said that I had a lot of hidden problems and thats why I was having a hard time eating and such even though I complained about it every time I went in. When I made my appointments I definitely asked for Dr. Salim to be my primary dentist, because I had heard so many good reviews but they stuck me with some random dentist who definitely felt inexperienced and like he was just there to do his 9 - 5 and pick up his pay check. I always had to make 2 appointments together because if I didn't I would have to wait 2 months before getting another appointment in the evenings or on Saturdays. Getting a dentist's appointment shouldn't be so much work. They're definitely overbooked, and not giving their patients the service they deserve or pay for. On top of all that, my dentist uncle said that the most I should have been paying per visit was like $50 and when I called my insurance they confirmed that, but I have receipts for upwards of $200! And then when I asked the very unprofessional, unhelpful staff about it they acted like I was ludicrous and was asking for them to go out of business or something!?!? Nope sorry now I drive out to my original dentist in Long Island. 5 star service even though I'm not a celebrity. read more

First , I just wanted to express my opinion and my experience , and everybody has a different perspective . But be concerned of what they put in your mouth and not always get lured by smiles cause it changes to a bitter conversation if you are not their money maker machine . The way you are treated when you owe them $100, and that you are refused to be seen if you don't have that money which was not correct amount and was supposed to be $50 , I would definatly give it a second thoight, to even trust them that they would place the right and decent material in my teeth. Money is not an issue, if I can afford going to an office in Manhattan, $50 won't make me rich or poor. It is the manner and trust that matters .As soon as I hear the workd policy, I back off abit from that business. Policy is not laws and rules. They are there to discourage people of forming habits. After I was allowed to go to the treatment room, and stating I would pay the $50 later, and I even agreed they can take that from my credit card on file, and once the higenist started to work, one of the receptionist came in and said that , we can only do half of the job because you have an outstanding balance . It was embarrassing. And then she said thats fine and I could pay later adter she noticed my reaction, and agreed that the higenist do the entire job. Then the higenist was called and came back and told me that I need to wait a bit more cause Doctor wants to see me. Then the other receptionist who seems to be a very nice girl came in and talked about policy ( politely though) and that is the office managers decision and all that. It was the point that I could not trist them and decided to leave and never go back there . The staff here is very unhelpful and the dentists are not available when issues arise. I have had two bad situations with them now.

I moved to New York last year and made an appointment with Dr. Nazeri last month. She immediately tried to convince me to get orthodontic work done, although I expressed no interest in this and was just there to get my teeth cleaned. She then told me that I had 5 cavities, 3 of which needed "immediate" intervention and had me start scheduling appointments over the next month. When I had left my old dentist in Boston last year, he had said everything looked fine, so I was pretty surprised to hear I needed so much work. I got a second opinion before going to these appointments, and the other dentist told me that everything was fine and I did not need any fillings. If I hadn't gotten a second opinion, I would have spent hundreds of dollars on dental work that I did not need. Lastly, their hours are pretty bad and its almost impossible to get an appointment that's not right in the middle of the work day. To make matters worse, I had to wait for about a half hour in the waiting room so overall I was out of work for over 2 hours even though I work right down the street. read more

Each experience has been 5 star, and each of the dentists takes the time to explain what is happening step-by-step-you never feel rushed. And you will not find better bedside manner than with Dr. Salim! The front desk is also very pleasant and helpful, and they always try to work with you to accommodate your schedule. 5 stars all around. read more
