I absolutely love rice balls , so when I heard about this place, I knew I had to check it out! I ordered two Pork Belly onigiri, one Honey Shrimp onigiri, and a Spam Musubi, and everything was delicious. Each item was packed with flavor without feeling too heavy or overly filling, which I really appreciated. It was the perfect amount of food and left me satisfied without feeling stuffed. The ordering process was super easy too. Everything is done through a kiosk, and my food was ready in about five minutes. Quick, simple, and convenient, especially when this place gets busy. Luckily, I came during a slower time, so the whole experience was smooth. The restaurant itself felt very welcoming, and everything was clean and well-kept. Overall, I had a great experience and can definitely see myself becoming a regular here. Thank you, Tenori, for the delicious food and great service. You'll definitely be seeing more of me soon!

We loved our visit to Tenori. It's in a great center with lots of shops, seating, and parking. It's right next to UCI so it's a great place for students to get a quick bite to eat. Service was great. They were helpful and kind. Inside was clean and had moderate seating. We ordered one of every nigiri and reallllllly loved them. They fill them generously and have a yummy crunch seasoning on the outside. The lychee lemonade is good, bur we didn't taste much lychee flavoring. Our only other comment would be that the pork belly was tough to detect flavor. Other than that, they were all great! We will definitely be coming back :)

My daughter and friend wanted in n out, but my other friend and I so t like burgers. Found this place not too far from in n out. We loved their onigiri. We scarfed em down that I forgot to take photos except for this bitten one. I got the tuna mayo, and pork belly onigiri. What I got was yummy. That being said being out of towners we had no idea that where we parked was only for campus parking for students. I guess I should've read the signs better. Noticed the tow truck waiting for any of the perps. Then when I moved my car to where we were supposed to park, the person who was trying to park at her spot gave me the evil eye. Oh well I made it out on time. It's basically a mall where you can get food. Next time I'm in town I'll for sure to get these for a quick bite. Place was small, but there were seating outside as well for those nice sunny day. Being from Seattle it was nice to have some sun eating my onigiri.

The staff is sadly pretty underwhelming with regard to making customers feel welcome and wanting to come back. The vibe is super crammed with weird table designs that make people need to weave around just to dine in. The musubis themselves are pretty disappointing and don't have any wow factor as far as the food, although the packaging is interesting enough (and invented by the Japanese long, long ago). There's very little substance or filling inside the rice and although the price is not too expensive, it's not worth the drive and hassle to come back. There's very little people at Tenori should try harder to connect with their customers at every level, from the product offerings to the human interactions to the dining space layout.

3 Tenori Sushi's; 2 Spicy Tuna cooked and 1 shrimp tuna. Delicious!

Went back, so tasty and to crave for definitely. Total cost was $12ish and this time I knew to order Spicy Tuna and Shrimp Tuna, both cooked with the crunch and seaweed making it perfect.

Super simple, super fast. For those who aren't familiar, think of them as rice balls filled with a sauce and meat and wrapped in seaweed. This location is order yourself on a kiosk - then grab and go or sit down... although it didn't seemed many people stayed. It was busy but quick. I could imagine getting a ton for a family event or work event. I love the mentai!

Got to try the KBBQ, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, pork belly, and honey shrimp. There is a ton of furikake which I loved! The pork belly and honey shrimp were my favorites by far. A great little spot in the university center that serves fast and delicious food

Stumbled into this cute shop while picking up some groceries. Reminded me of the yummy rice balls (we called them) that my grandmother use to make as I was running out the door headed for class. My grandmother's specialty was kimchee rice balls which is my favorite (secretly hoping Tenori will add it to their menu). Today, we decided to try it all that was on the menu (well almost all). 1. Kbbq-Rice ball 주먹밥 (actually triangle) with furakake sprinkles adding a savory flavor and filled with a decent amount of beef (not much seasoning) in the center. This was good 2. Pork belly: Not a fan. This one was filled with pork belly cubes marinated with a house made sweet sauce. Was expecting the spicy pork belly version. 3. Spicy tuna: this one was good too. Cooked tuna mixed with spicy kewpie mayo in the center. 4. Spicy salmon: this one was good as well. Cooked salmon mixed with spicy kewpie mayo in the center. 5. Mentai: not what I was expecting. This one was filled with pollack fish Cavier. A bit salty. Not so spicy. 6. Spam: yummy spam in rice wrapped in seaweed. Always a standard in Asian American household. Not bad. An easy bite and snack. Would love it if they made it with kimchee please

I love this place so so much! The onigiri are super filling. It's kind of impossible to get a solid lunch for $11, but the three set onigiri does the job. My fave is the pork belly, but the bbq is super good too! They separate and label each onigiri in your order with wax paper which has the type printed on it. I also highly recommend joining their rewards program. You can get free onigiri after a certain amount of points. It's also great to just order for pickup.

What I love about this spot is that it's convenient for UCI students & I was able to make a quick stop here for lunch. The price seemed very reasonable for the amount of food, which tasted very yummy, you get!

Great place for a quick meal. Each item costs around ~4 dollars. You can also get three for $11.50 which is a nice little deal! The rice seasoning was flavorful and there was a decent amount of pork belly. The pork belly had around 5-6 chunk pieces. It wasn't the most tender meat, but was still very enjoyable. If I was in the area, I would try it out, but wouldn't go out of my way. Service was via kiosk, but there was a cashier available to answer any questions. There is also some seating inside and outside as well!

3 for $11.50 - Kbbq, Pork Belly and Honey Shrimp

I ordered thru the toast app. I picked up my food when it was ready. I let the staff know that there was an issue ordering on the Toast app. Staff let their manager know and right away he went to login and check to see if there's something wrong. He was not able to fix it on the spot so he said he would reach out to me and let me know when its fixed so I can next time come in and order what I wanted. I had ordered the 3 for $11.50 and I had wanted 2 shrimp and 1 kbbq but the system only allowed me to pick 3 different choices. I really appreciated how things was handled and hope to hear from management when I can order the choices I wanted.

Nice to have an onigiri place in Irvine. It's hidden in the area with all the other restaurants. You place your order at the kiosk and make your payment there. I got the 3 pack - KBBQ, Spicy tuna and the pork belly. The KBBQ & Pork Belly were great and hit the mark on the flavoring. The spicy tuna I wasn't a fan of. The orders were made to order, so you know they're fresh and it did not take long. Just an FYI they don't travel well - the nori gets all soggy. Would be coming back for more for sure!

They refreshed the intimate space while keeping the high culinary standard alive. The nigiri was dialed in--pristine cuts, great knife work, and perfectly seasoned rice. A few standout dishes from our order: Seared Engawa w/ Caviar: Engawa is one of my favorite cuts of halibut in general, and this is a must-try. Not every place has it since it's just the fin muscle and there's only so much per fish. Lightly torched to render the rich fat, topped with caviar--it completely melted. Kamatoro: Incredible marbling with a rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Oyster with Uni and Caviar: Incredibly fresh, sweet, and clean. Truffle Chawanmushi & Beef Tongue: Silky smooth custard with great aroma, and the beef tongue was crazy tender. Wagyu Yukke & Wagyu Nigiri: High-end marbling, super flavorful, and a great change of pace between the fish courses. Nigiri (Striped Jack, Amberjack, Sweet Shrimp, Red Snapper): Simple, classic, and extremely fresh. Service was attentive, and the meal flowed naturally. Paired it with a cold beer and walked out thoroughly impressed. This location is still in great hands. Highly recommend.

The chefs were great as were staff with excellent service and identifying dishes. The vibe nearly makes me feel I am back in Tokyo visiting my bro in one of those underground secret sushi restaurants. Some of the ones we had: -- red snapper -- amberjack -- best salmon ever maybe (melting butter salmon texture) -- blue fin tuna -- salmon roe with crab meat (had me all in for something I norm don't get excited about) -- scallop (fat and tasty) -- eel w/a sweet corn cake on plate? -- clam soup (yum) -- sweet shrimp (petite and tasty) -- black sesame ice cream (my choice) in an airy wafer two-piece to make an ice cream sandwich -- we vetoed other options because we did not need so much uni

Soft music played in the background, and the traditional Japanese decor gave the restaurant a warm, relaxing feel. Our server was friendly and respectful, and the food came out quickly and hot. The curry was flavorful and comforting without being spicy, making it an easy choice if you prefer a milder Japanese curry. The Cheese Pork Katsu was also excellent. The melted cheese added a creamy richness that complemented the crispy pork well. Both meals also came with miso soup, which had a clean flavor, and a side of shredded lettuce with dressing that helped lighten up the richness of the fried dishes. Overall, everything was prepared well, the service was great, and the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere. Arrived on a Friday night around 5:30 PM and there was already a pretty decent line waiting to be seated. The interior dining area is fairly small, seating about 20 people total. The interior dining area was a bit loud which was expected with how many folks were sitting in there eating and talking in addition to the music above, but it's manageable and nothing super overwhelming. Their menu is simple, but at the same time you have plenty of options. The go to order is obviously the Katsu combinations, which comes alongside a cabbage salad, miso soup, white rice, pickled daikon, and jalapeños, and don't forget their addictive katsu sauce. We tried their Hako Katsu, Hamburg Katsu, Cheese Katsu, potato croquettes, takoyaki, and shrimp tempura. Everything was well executed simple yet with a depth of flavor. Our order arrived quickly and was neatly packaged in a beautiful bento-style box, making for a great first impression. **Curry Tonkatsu: 5/5** The tonkatsu was the highlight, with golden, crispy breading and a pronounced crunch in every bite. The curry had a bold, deeply savory taste that complemented the cutlet exceptionally well. Steamed rice cut through the richness, while the crunchy cabbage salad provided a light, refreshing contrast. A side of pickled radish and jalapeños added a bright acidity, with the creamy, tangy katsu sauce pairing perfectly with the fried cutlet. Portion sizes were impressively generous, leaving plenty to enjoy later. We also upgraded to a combo with a California roll and gyoza, though both sides were fairly unremarkable by comparison. **Tanuki Udon: 5/5** Simple yet incredibly comforting, the tanuki udon featured a warm broth with a delicate sweetness and plenty of umami depth. The noodles were thick, chewy, and bouncy, making them especially satisfying to eat. An assortment of toppings further elevated the dish, layering in complex flavors and contrasting textures. Overall, Hako absolutely delivered with its delicious, well-executed dishes and is a must-try for anyone craving a hearty Japanese meal.

While searching for reservations, I came across Manpuku Japanese BBQ. I honestly didn't know much about it, but a handful of photos immediately caught my attention. Something about the presentation, atmosphere, and quality of the food made me curious enough to give it a shot. I was fortunate enough to secure a reservation the day before and sent the restaurant a message letting them know we would be celebrating my wife's birthday. Right away they were accommodating, responsive, and excited to help make the evening special. Parking was probably the most difficult part of the entire experience. We happened to get lucky and grabbed a spot just as another car was leaving. If not, I believe there is additional parking available nearby, but thankfully we didn't have to worry about that. Walking into the restaurant was my first surprise. For some reason, I expected a large bustling dining room. Instead, Manpuku felt intimate and welcoming. The soft lighting and wood accents created a cozy atmosphere that felt perfect for a special occasion. The restaurant was also spotless, with clean and organized dining areas and grilling stations. Instead of seating us at a traditional table, we were escorted to a private-style dining area where we removed our shoes before stepping into the seating space. It immediately made the evening feel unique and added to the intimate atmosphere. Now let's talk about our server. Hannah was outstanding. Since it was our first visit, she walked us through the menu, explained the different cuts, discussed preparation methods, asked about allergies, and provided recommendations throughout the evening. She was knowledgeable, professional, and personable, making us feel genuinely welcomed. Her attention and care helped make my wife's birthday dinner memorable. For our meal, we selected the A5 Wagyu Omakase. The experience started with beautifully presented appetizers, including Uni and Beef Sashimi, Seared Beef Sushi, Japanese salad, kimchi, and several small bites. The seared beef sushi was rich and buttery, while the Uni paired wonderfully with the beef. The A5 Wagyu selections were the highlight of the meal. Chuck short rib, culotte, chuck roll, and inner skirt each offered distinct textures and flavors, all showcasing the richness and tenderness that make A5 Wagyu special. The quality was evident in both the presentation and taste. And then there was the A5 Umami Rice. Despite being part of a Wagyu-focused meal, it stood out as a flavorful and comforting dish that kept everyone reaching for another bite. The drinks were refreshing and paired well with the meal. One thing that made the evening even more special was being able to share the experience as a family. Between the intimate atmosphere, attentive service, and excellent food, it felt like more than just dinner. To top everything off, the staff surprised my wife with a birthday dessert presentation complete with a candle and thoughtful decoration. Seeing the smile on her face while celebrating alongside our daughter made the moment even more meaningful and reflected the hospitality we experienced throughout the night. For anyone considering the A5 Wagyu Omakase, come hungry. While the presentation is elegant, the experience includes multiple courses and a generous amount of food. By the end of the meal we were completely satisfied and felt that the experience justified the price. Exceptional service, quality ingredients, excellent food, and an intimate atmosphere made for a memorable celebration.

The first couple of times I came without one, they were nice enough to squeeze me in but basically told me, "You can eat, but we need the table back by this time." Totally fair. They had reservations booked for the rest of the night, and I was just happy they let me eat lol. They specialize in Okinawan food, and I love coming here because there are so many different little dishes to try. The fresh peanut tofu is one of my favorites. I've also had things like scallops with yuzu and truffle and a bunch of dishes using ingredients and preparations you don't necessarily see at every Japanese restaurant. I'm a big Japanese-food person, so I love ordering a bunch of different things and sharing. That's probably the best way to come here anyway because the bill can add up quickly when you start ordering everything that sounds interesting. I brought my cousin and his friend here once, and she's Japanese and from Okinawa. She said the food reminded her of home and of things her mom would make, which I thought was pretty cool. The restaurant itself has that same homey feeling. There's stuff all over the walls, it's small, and you usually see the same lady there. Service has always been good to me. Do I love every single thing I've ordered? No. I'd say maybe eight out of ten things really hit for me and occasionally something is just okay. But that's also why I like coming with other people and trying a bunch of things. Apparently they've blown up even more on Instagram now, so getting in can be difficult. Make a reservation, be patient, and don't show up being rude to a small business because you can't immediately get a table. I'm a fan and I'll definitely keep coming back.
