My sister was visiting from LA and I told her I needed go take her here, and I would never take her out for Mexican here because she gets the best Mexican food in LA. Very consistent place with a nice atmosphere. We prefer to sit at the bar because we're older and it has more space to get in and out. The bar is the best spot in the place really! I like Teocalli OK, but having moved here from Texas, for me it's a but under-flavored. Still, I realize that I need to give them another shot. We were only there once and we ate three different tacos, which were all tasty, though not exactly memorable. Next time I will try one of the entrees. The food is of good quality and fresh, but besides that our meal at Teocalli Cocina was the worst dining experience we've had in a long time. The food arrived cold, and with little seasoning. The portions in the fish tacos, which I had, were bite sized and I had to eat when I arrived home. The tacos that my partner, who is vegetarian, had were essentially little salads on a little tortilla -- tasty but quite unsatisfying. The guacamole was totally bland, and there was no salt or hot sauce provided. The server was atrocious. After asking her for hot sauce and other items at the beginning of the meal, and reminding her when she came by later, she finally brought some for our last bite. She announced the price of the meal to the whole table before giving me the bill. I never received an itemized bill, or a receipt. Never again. read more

We've been back quite a few times and continue to love it. The El Jefe drink is delicious, as are all of the dishes (savory and sweet) that we've tried. It would be great if they had a few more vegetarian/vegan options, but I love the fact that the seasonings are much more authentic to the central Mexican cuisine that I adore than anything else that we have nearby. read more

Visited on a Saturday for lunch. We should've read some of the reviews first. We were seated and ordered and received our food which was hot and really well made. We,like other patrons on here, we're absolutely ignored after that. Servers walked past our table in the middle of the patio many times. Finally flagged one down for more tea. We would've tried dessert but no eye contact made with staff, even getting a check was an ordeal and terse, rude staff. Hope it gets friendlier for their sake. read more

I've gone back several times and the saltiness from my first visit seemed to have been fixed (or just a fluke the first time). Occasionally I'll get a side or something that's a bit blah, but overall the food and drinks are very good. I got carne adovada and some chips and some tomatillo salso and some fire ass dankity ass gucci one hundo pineapple salsa oh baby ohhhhhhh yeah. I got a shot of 10$ tequila to turnt it up a lil bit then i got a marg to turn it up a lil more and then since it was gad dayum peach festival time i went next door and bought a peach pie! My review is only in the bar. I understand the importance of the bartender for a restaurant. I am a former bartender and restaurant owner. Often times you only get one chance to impact a first time visitor. I was greeted with menus thrown to me. Didn't welcome me, or explain the new restaurant/concept. I watch the bartender interact with the guests at the bar with minimal conversation and smiles. This should be an exciting time to open up a new restaurant. There is a lot of buzz in the area about the new restaurant and what it could be. I was excited to see the new layout and atmosphere. Great concept in theory. After hearing many great reviews of the "Temple," we visited with high hopes. Sadly, this place WAS the temple--the Temple of Doom! Worst margarita in my 72 years of margaritaing--should have left after first sour taste. Worst margaritas followed by worst guacamole ever--the pound of red onions was surpassed only by the 2 pounds of cilantro folded/mixed into the atacado. Then, the most stale, hard-Ass tortilla chips of all time. Entree followed, but by this time , had already put in 911 call. Avoid this place at all costs! read more

We had 2 wait staff and neither one were very good. No drink refills. Room temperature water came without ice. Dr. Pepper was flat and we just got a "sorry"! Guacamole was good. We got an assortment of tacos which were way too spicy and cold. Also all the tacos came on one plate and we had to figure out who's was who's; bad idea! Won't be back. A good modern-style Mexican restaurant. Good food and atmosphere. However, I'm not a fan of the family style serving of the tacos that are the core of the menu. At a large table, it's confusing which tacos are which, and we actually didn't get all the tacos we initially ordered. Some of the tacos were excellent; others suffered from having too many ingredients and tastes mixed together. Decent service. We had high hopes, but our experience wasn't very good. We ordered the Carne Asada plate "medium" and the Pescado. The meat came out medium in the center, but the outside was burnt to a crisp, so bad that it tasted like ash. The Pescado tasted great, but was full of bones and my wife had to finger through the meal to get little tiny bites. We ordered 2 La Casa margaritas and it was like drinking lime-aid. We did order the chips and guacamole, and that was actually pretty yummy. Design of the restaurant was great, but lacked in food quality and service. read more

Don't waste your money. Go somewhere else with better customer service, better food and better price. Ordered to go, but after waiting 50 minutes (it is well past lunch rush hours) and paid over $80, all I got was poorly packed food with all the condiments containers sank into my entrees' containers in wobbly bags that won't even sit up straight (apparently the condiments containers are too heavy and they dropped into the paper container underneath). It ruined all my entrees and of course the outside of the condiment containers are all sticky and dirty. What a mess! When I pointed out, the waitress just gave me another bag and I had to pack my own food!!! I didn't think I worked there and I didn't think I was gonna get tipped, but OK! The food was super salty and the meat was super dry. We threw majority of the food away due to the fact that my dogs didn't even want to chew it. read more

Had a great experience last night for dinner! We went for our daughter's 3rd Birthday and everyone cleaned their plates! My husband had the Carnitas plate, while I enjoyed 3 different tacos (Carnitas, Carne Asada, and Puerco Pibil). All 3 were delicious! Their kids menu has only 2 choices, taco or quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. Our daughter enjoyed the quesadilla with added chicken. The salsas are full of flavor and unique and the Casa Margs were on point! The staff was very friendly, the GM even gave the birthday girl some churros with chocolate dipping sauce. This is a great addition to the Louisville/Lafayette food scene. A great casual place with great indoor and outdoor options. It's not your traditional Mexican burrito place, but more along the lines of street Tacos with other varying regional options that sets it apart. This place is SO good! Their tacos are all very creative and delicious and added perk- their whole kitchen is naturally gluten free! I especially love their shrimp taco and the fish taco. The fried avocado taco was good- but not a ton of flavor. The margaritas are just okay in my opinion as well. They have some other fun cocktails that may be worth a try!
