We hired Teppan Catering Arigato for my dad's 80th birthday dinner. We had 24 guests and an absolute blast. From their menu we chose the steak, chicken and shrimp option. It was served with salad, chicken fried rice, edamame and veggies. Plenty of food and so delicious! The company sent 3 employees. 2 chefs and 1 helper. They were so friendly and attentive. They set up quickly, the presentation looked wonderful, and all the guests had a really good time. I was nervous as I chose this company from looking online and didn't know anyone who had personally used them. I placed a $200 deposit and then they sent me a form to add in the details of the event, with final details (head count, allergies, etc.) due 10 days in advance. I never heard from them so I just sent it in. Which they acknowledged receiving. And then full payment is due 3 days before the event. Never heard from them. Two days before the event I had to reach out and ask for the invoice, which they promptly sent. I was nervous with the lack of communication although they always responded if I reached out. But they showed up early, surveyed the space in the backyard and figured out the table set up within the space available. One of the chefs did a lot of entertaining while cooking, where we noticed the second chef on the other grill didn't do as much. The helper was fantastic but I can see how the experience varies depending on the chef. The clean up was fast and thorough. There was zero clean up for us to do. Exceeded all expectations! We had about 30 guests ranging from 15 to 85 and every single person was amazed. The food was delicious, the chefs were engaging and entertaining and the company was dependable. And most importantly, it wasn't overly expensive. I hired this hibachi company to cater my bachelorette for 17 girls on a premium Saturday, and it was an absolute disappointment. The head chef, Aaron, actually admitted to being under the influence during the dinner as an excuse for his poor performance. He wasn't engaging at all, did the bare minimum, and when he tried doing the "egg trick," he got eggshells all in the fried rice. He dropped a piece of steak on the table, picked it up with his spatula, and served it to one of my guests as if that was normal. He joked it was his "first day," and honestly, it looked like it. The food itself was mediocre at best--nothing close to the premium experience we were promised. To top it off, they didn't inform us we needed to have lighting, and they broke one of our lights while setting up. When I called their supervisor (I believe her name was Tatiana), she said the chef denied being high (shocker) but had been "reprimanded." She offered an 8-person dinner on a Monday-Wednesday (she specifically said this was a non-premium day) which is a joke considering I paid for 17 girls on a Saturday, and a measly $200 refund; a paltry amount for their lack of professionalism and sanitary practice. I couldn't even sit at my own dinner because I couldn't take the chef or his assistant seriously (his assistant just stood there and did nothing the entire time). I am only giving 2 stars because some of the girls were hungry enough to eat the food, but I would never use this company again, and I would caution anyone looking for a fun, lively hibachi experience to look elsewhere. read more
