Awesome buying experience. Griffin was really helpful, when I called he had the ruggedized Kukenam in stock, and it arrived in Kansas City in 3 days. First, the tent is awesome. I was so tired of ground tents and staking them down. I mounted my Tepui a little differently than most and don't use the ladder, so I can't comment on the ladder. However I can comment on the strength and watertight abilities because we had a huge storm in the Black Hills our first trip out. No leaks, the awnings over the windows held up perfectly. My wife added lots of blankets and pillows and we call it our cocoon because it's really comfy once we crawl in there. In 30 degree weather there's no need for a heater- The cover is the hardest part about dealing with this tent and it's not that big of a deal at all; but it's worth mentioning. It's goes on just fine it just takes a little bit to zip it all up, and is more durable and thicker than I expected. Overall totally happy after many days in the tent and nothing is broken or problematic. It travels great and we look forward to many years of use. read more

Hi guys, I am completly in with you guys now. So Stoked! I picked up the two Kukamans today and it was a seamless painless transaction. I just looked at the Kukenam XL Ruggedized in Orange and I want one of those as well. Their shop is functional and their tents are freaking gorgeous. Rooftop tents are the way to go. We had a hardtop tent however we switched to the clamshell type because they are bigger in size. Since they were close enough to us to see in person, we shot over on a Saturday. The staff could not be easier and nicer to deal with. I ordered the RUGGEDIZED SERIES AUTANA 4 WITH ANNEX, one of the most expensive tents Tepui offers. It was shipped to the vendor and was received damaged, large dent in the diamond plate. We reached out to Tepui and they told us we would have to pay the shipping to send it back and the shipping to receive a new one. Because of the size and location this would costs over $2,000. We asked if we could just return it an get a refund and this was also denied. Tepui is not taking responsibility for a damaged tent that they sent. This is quit upsetting as we paid a considerable amount of $$$. We have many friends and colleagues in the Northern CA, Southern CA and Connecticut area that we will ensure to not recommend Tepui's product as it seams the company is not taking organizational responsibility for its products. read more

Considering the hefty price tags on these tents, I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service/experience we've received since purchasing our Kukenam late last year. To start off the fail-train, the box in which the tent was delivered was damaged, and our brand new tent was left dented on the outer shell (so much so that you can see it from the inside of the tent if you lift the mattress). Again, taking into account what we paid for the unit, it's shocking that the thing wasn't handled with greater care. We brought up the issue to Tepui and they sent us a complimentary cooler bag and t-shirt. Better than nothing, I guess. Installation really isn't anywhere near as simple as they advertise. In fact, for a hefty and expensive piece of hardware in (at the time of purchase) 2017, the mounting design is downright rudimentary. Every piece of the bracket set is made of a soft aluminum, which seems like a sketchy place to skimp on nice materials when you're relying on it to hold a 150lb, $1400+ piece of equipment on the roof of your car (more on this later). After just one use, our precious Subaru was broken into shortly after our camping trip and all of our Tepui accessories were stolen (fly rods and mounting hardware). The website indicated that Tepui was sold out of all of the above, which seems to ALWAYS be the case. Apparently every unfortunate soul who has purchased one of these tents is constantly in need of replacing the accessories. And I know it wasn't Tepui's responsibility nor their problem that our car was broken into, but when we reached out to their customer service, they couldn't have been less sympathetic. No condolences offered, no extension of kindness to rush the parts to us in our time of need. Literally nothing. Call me old-fashioned, but if I owned a top-of-the-line outdoor gear company like Tepui, and I was making my customers pay top dollar for my product, you bet I'd act a lot kinder in a situation like this than Tepui did. Jump forward several months, we've finally received our new fly rods and mounting hardware (the replacement set did NOT come with the original orange ripstop bag). We install the tent and head off on our next adventure. Weeks go by, and we're still lugging the Tepui tent around with us everywhere we go. Why, you ask? Because the cheap, soft aluminum of the mounting bolts have cross-threaded and we physically cannot get the thing off. Keep in mind, my partner and I are two women in our late 20s, relatively twiggy, and are by no means cranking the nuts onto these bolts. Once again, Tepui has nothing to say on the matter and the mounting hardware is, once again, out of stock. We were told back in July that the pieces would be available again mid-August. Here we are, summer slipping through our fingers, and we still have no replacement brackets (Tepui has informed us that they are now on back order through mid September). Oh, and we had to chop the Kukenam off our roof with a hack saw. Good times. This is long-winded, I know, but I feel our experiences with this company may give others pause before dropping a significant chunk of change on Tepui, their incredibly poor customer service, and unreliable stock of materials. I've been a camping, adventure, off road enthusiast for a long time. It wasn't until about 4 years ago that I discovered Tepui roof top tents. They are a game changer when it comes to camping or overlanding. No more breaking tent poles, leaking air mattresses, rain / water leaking, sleeping on the ground with bugs and animals. Tepu is the way to go! Get off the ground! These roof top tents are super secure and very well made. We've been in our Tepui during some big windy rain storms and it hardly moved at all. It's not hard to get on and off your car either. I can do it all by myself. I mostly want to point out that the staff is super nice and helpful. They respond in a timely manner and are pro's. I will always have a Tepui tent on my rig and cannot recommend them highly enough. Get one and get out there! read more

This was definitely one of the greatest purchases my boyfriend has made. The location of the warehouse/shop is a bit of a drive for us, but it gave us an excuse to go to the beach for the day. The store has a bunch of tents set up, so you can crawl around and see which style and size works best for you. The man who was selling the tent to us was kind and knowledgeable. He drove in front of us to the warehouse, which was nice, as we probably would have gotten lost. We ended up getting the Kukenam tent. We keep ours on top of a four door sedan style car, so you don't need an SUV or truck, although 4WD makes things much more interesting. It's just the right size for two people to sleep very comfortably. I would highly recommend getting a condensation mat for the underneath of the tent. It definitely gets wet, and needs to be dried out just like any other tent. We actually leave a sleeping bag and two pillows inside, and it still folds and zips up, which is very convenient! We also get a lot of questions and comments from people who haven't seen them much. Overall, a very unique way to go camping, and if you have the money, I highly recommend trying it! read more

I purchased a Kukenam Sky 3 tent and some accessories. I was excited to have this tent. However, I had done some emailing back and forth regarding an installation. There is a $75 fee for the installation which I was perfectly fine with. The tent can only be picked up at their location unless you want to spend a LOT of money on shipping. Since they are only open until 4pm on the weekdays and 5pm on Saturday, to get there for pickup is a challenge. Since I live in Las Vegas and it is an 8 hour drive, I had to schedule my trip. Except, they have no time on Friday to do an install and they have nobody available on Saturdays to do the install. They were not working with me to get this installed in the times that I could get there. They said "we can help you get it on the roof, but we can't install it". Well that doesn't help me when I needed to use the tent for that weekend. I cancelled my order and will go to another tent manufacturer. Not very willing to work with the customer after spending $1800. read more
