Let me start by saying I truly love the ambiance of this restaurant. The rooftop area is perfect on a nice day with a covered or non covered option for seating. I've been to this location a few times and 3 out of the 4 times was excellent. Love that they have a playground for the kids to play at, however, they require food to be a to go order. That said, DO NOT order the bulgolgi tacos at the outside bar. I thought I'd just get it in a to go box and could eat at their outside area but it was literally a bag of nachos with all the components in seperate containers. Ended up taking it home (it doesn't reheat well) Lastly, while the drinks at the bar were very well made and strong, the bartender was very inattentive and it took me several frustrating attempts to get his attention. The girlfriends united and wanted a night out! Let me tell you how it went. The place is huge, with an outdoor kid play area while adults get to relax and drink their drinks around the fireplace, it is a really pretty place to come out for the summer. Right next to it is a brewery/bar and it can tend to get super busy when that place is popping too. Inside of the restaurant is full of beautiful colors and great decor. We took an elevator to go upstairs in the patio area. There was TVs everywhere in sufficient air-conditioning in order for you to sit outside. The service was great. Our server definitely took care of us really well. The food was mid, it wasn't overpriced, I feel like it was priced average with all the other restaurants that I've been to. The flavor is a little on the bland side for my taste. The queso was a little watery. The Paloma was fabulous! You can definitely taste that they make the drinks with good ingredients. My son found this place for us to try coming from Winder hearing they had pretty good cocktails so we thought we would see what they had to offer. Clean place, nicely decorated, started with some specialty margaritas, but freeze dried limes and grapefruit. That were really tasty! I'm a bit lacking on pictures, but they have a drink menu as well as food menu that I failed to catch it but many drinks to select from, excellent selection of liquors We both got tacos starting with Korean beef, which was outstanding, I had a fish taco that was also very tasty, then a Barbacoa that is always a favorite. These were oddly filling as they didn't look large, but glad we only ordered two tacos each because they were super filling and very good. I could have stopped at Publix & paid $2 for a head... sure will next time. The sides of extra Angry Mama souce were $1.00 EACH... JUST FREAKING STOP IT. So for all you parents with little kids, this is a great place to meet friends and catch up while your kids are playing nearby. However, while the food was decent, the portion sizes were Lackluster, and the prices were a bit more than I would like. I ordered a Paloma (it was delicious). Tacos were $15 for three small tacos. This was the last time I am getting food from here. The place was busy and they not only not have enough people to take carry out orders, but the food was a major disappointment. After waiting for more than 15-20 mins at the counter to order, we were told to go to the bar to order! The bar was busy too - but the bartender took the order, he was not familiar with all the menu items, I guess but he seemed to be not well versed. The lady at the bar is very unfriendly. Got the food home - Vegetarian Burrito Bowl had just plain rice - no beans, no cheese, some sprinkles of vegetables, fried avocado was there - I asked it to be vegetarian with No Meat - but didn't say no beans or cheese. Enchiladas were ok - skipmpy portions - I had to even ask for salsa to go with the chips. wasted $30 + $5 tip - yes, I tip for carry out too - because I know people work at bar to expect tips. There is a valet option, which was interesting to me. I opted to circle around a few times to find self-parking. Thankfully, that was a success. We ended up sitting at the bar. With 2-3 staff there and not that big of a crowd, the customer service could have been better. Everyone was nice, but there was definitely a continual need to ask to be helped. There didn't seem to be a sense of urgency. As usual, the food did not disappoint. This restaurant is definitely kid friendly. There's a play area outside, and I noticed some patrons allowed their kids to run in and out of the restaurant while the adults ate. Came on a Friday, we understood it was busy but food came out and we didn't even have utensils, we told the hostess but she said they were being folded and to wait she never brought them. She was not busy, when we asked someone else they got them asap. Then our kids were playing on the playing ground there were a bunch of RUDE older kids playing football, they hit 5+ little kids and the lights a couple times, no one came out and said anything. First attempt to go here we stood behind someone ordering food at the hostess desk, which took around 5-10 minutes. We arrived around 9:15 and were told we could order around 9:30 when we finally got upstairs, we just had to order quick. Once we made it upstairs they told us the kitchen was closed. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars, I this was on a Monday. Second attempt we had an hour and half wait, we arrived out our name down and had a 50 minutes wait then at the table didn't have our order taken until 20 minutes had passed then my friends drink came out 10 minutes later. Then after that my drink and queso came. The areas really nice , outside they have a play area and chairs with fire pit. Upstairs they have a fire pit as well. The food was amazing , I got quesabirra. She got carne asada. They have really pretty presentation for some of the drink. Would definitely go back, wish they had reservations or a way to put your name on the wait list so we could've done it when we headed over there . Tequila Mama Taqueria is pretty new in the Buford area so of course we had to try it! Me and a group of friends came on a Saturday night and it was PACKED! We had to seat in the upstairs area which was amazing! Great views and atmosphere. Service is okay. Like I said it was packed so it is understandable, but I just feel like our server could've been a little more attentive. We had to ask 3 times for a TO-GO box because she kept forgetting. Again, not a big deal just annoying. Drinks are veeeeery strong which was a plus!! But food it is simply not great. Mediocre at best. Great presentation but just bland, small portions and definitely overpriced! I had initially ordered the Bulgogi Bowl. It came with Steak, grilled onions and peppers, slaw, pickled onions and cheese over rice. The steak was delicious but the toppings were definitely going bad. The pickled onions and slaw were sooo sour it ruined the rest of the dish. Our server offer a replacement and I got the steak fajitas instead which were okay, but definitely better! Some people in my table ordered the tacos and they were definitely too small and not worth the price. We also got the Oreo Churros and that was like the best thing we tasted! In general I'd recommend coming to this place for a night out with great drinks and good music, but not if you're hungry! This place (or at least this location) is not what it use to be. The service is horrible: I felt like my waiter has an attitude when I asked a question about an item on the menu. I also watched the table next to me wait 15 MINUTES for someone to greet them. The table next to me eventually got their food but with no water or napkins lol. Food: greasy and sloppy. I ordered the fried shrimp Taco and it was drowned in a mayo base sauce. Drinks: expensive for top shelf liquor or else they will make you a sugary drink. They have a great skinny margarita! The $11 for queso and salsa was a little much, but it was good. Not better quality but a huge portion. I got two specialty tacos and I cannot stop raving about the Cubano! It was one of the best tacos I've had in a while. They do not make their own tortillas, but the corn tortillas were good. The server was really pushing the appetizers, but they cost as much as the lunch entree. After tasting my dish, I requested the complimentary chips and salsa. Although the reviews are relatively mixed, with more negative than places we care to visit, we though we'd give it a go anyway. Server wasn't particularly friendly. We had to ask for chips and salsa. She forgot those, but pushed awfully hard for us to get an appetizer. I ordered chicken fingers and wife ordered a lunch bowl. Everything was void of any flavor. My chicken fingers and fries were so oily, I could barely eat them. Also, the chicken fingers were about the same size as the fries. I gave two stars which were for the decor more than anything. Tequila Mama feels like a spring break resort getaway, walking up those turquoise stairs past the vivid green fake grass with glossy red play structures on it. The whole vibe is FUN. Every seat and wall screams for an Instagram selfie, and the food and drinks do too. All of the drinks and food that my gf and I were served were colorful and beautiful and photo worthy. The taste was amazing and fresh. My only small issue was the sound. I couldn't hear half the conversation with her, right across the table from me. It was far too noisy. I can't imagine how much louder it would get on a late night weekend, when I was there for an early weekday dinner. Our server was nice enough, but seemed new and not entirely knowledgeable about the menu, but two of the managers (?) came by once or twice to check on us which was nice. Came in for cinco de Mayo and it was obviously packed! I loved the indoor/outdoor bar so we could still order. This place is massive with ample seating inside, upstairs and their bars and would be an awesome place to visit in the hot weather. They even have a grassy area if you must bring your kids. Large gravel lot behind the main lot and they offer valet if you're fancy. The drinks were good, strong and reasonably priced. I had the Texas margarita and that may be my goto there. The chamoy margarita from the place across the grassy area was also very good. I'm not sure if they're both under the same company but I had a great time at both! I will 100% be back. read more
