Great location with actual street parking, not the kind where you circle the block 14 times questioning your life choices. The restaurant is big, spacious, and doesn't make you feel like you're dining inside a shoebox. Now... the booths. You know those tragic booths where one side is basically punishment seating? Or the table leans like it's trying to escape? Or the seat rocks like you're on a mechanical bull you did not sign up for? Yeah, none of that here. Everything was sturdy, level, and shockingly... normal. A tiny miracle. I failed at my food‑photographer duties and didn't get pics of my husband's or father‑in‑law's meals, but trust me, they inhaled them. I ordered the birria tacos and let me tell you....these things were loaded. Not "Instagram loaded." I mean real loaded. One taco almost took me out. Two had me questioning my life decisions in the best way. Perfect seasoning, zero complaints. Dessert? Also no pics because apparently I blacked out from happiness. But listen here............. An old rail station or tannery, converted into a restaurant. Interiors are great with a tractor hanging from the roof and old cabins still in use. There are no vegetarian options on the menu. But when we asked, they made them. The rice has chicken powder sprinkled so be cautious. The service is impeccable. The drinks are top-notch. The street corn is heavenly. The mole has the right amount of sweetness, tanginess. The spicy salsa Verde is ok, but they charged $3.50 which is pricier. This was one of the worst meals we've ever had! We've been here before and the service and food was excellent, but last night was really bad. We sat down and our first waiter was very flippant and seemed in a sour mood. He commented on the amount of ppl at our table (we told him we were still waiting on one more), my mom asked him a question about the drinks and he said what they have is on the menu, then proceeded to seem impatient when I was asking about drinks the restaurant was just out of stock on. My mom asked him to calm down because he was acting weird and then we finally just asked for a new waiter. Jacob was great, he handled all our table plus his others. That was it though- the Long Island ice tea was watered down (so that had to go back), the salsa was way too tomato based with not much flavor, one set of chips was really greasy, the Quesabirria was so spicy (2 ppl ordered) that they both couldn't eat it, the steak fajitas came out as large steak chunks, the burrito was not good. We asked for a manager at the beginning, they never came over. The only good thing was that Jacob took care of us, but the food was not good. read more

Had a good first experience at Off the Rails. The interior is immaculate. A lot of thought was put into the decoration and design of this restaurant. Almost an experience in itself. Expect a wait if you go for dinner after 5, but it's usually no longer than 20 mins. Service does a good job turning tables quickly. The food is good and fresh and tasty. We will be back! read more

Our first time coming for lunch. They have a lunch menu or can still order off main menu. I got the three taco plate. I love their crispy shells with the shredded chicken. It comes with three tacos and a side of rice and beans. My husband got the fajita lunch plate which was huge! The steak was so tender. We started with a side of the small guacamole that was perfectly seasoned. We were sat right away. They are always so packed out at dinner. I actually loved it at lunch! We came here to celebrate our anniversary. It was my first visit and my husband's second. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and had a unique charm. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was exceptional. Our server, Ryan, was friendly, attentive, and had great timing throughout our meal. We started with the cowboy queso--definitely a must-try! While the menu is a bit limited, it offers a variety of creative and distinctive dishes that go beyond your typical Mexican restaurant fare. Very large restaurant with lots of seating. We liked the decor. The server was new so we wasn't too familiar the menu and kept having to go ask questions but she was nice. We told her we wanted to drink first and would order after a while, but she kept asking if we were ready to order. The passionfruit margarita was good. I liked that there were multiple margarita flavors and options. They also had a nice cocktail menu. The shrimp taco left a lot to be desired. It was cold, small shrimp with no flavor. I expected grilled or fried shrimp which of typical of most shrimp tacos. My husband had the carne asada. It was flavorful but needed more onions. We've haven't been to Off The Rails in over a year because of the Food temperature and service. We tried it again tonight and paid $27 for a patron margarita, which is outrageous. Food was OK We will not be back anytime soon. read more

Food was very good. Took a while for the whole table to get their meal. We were told our party of 13 would have two servers but that did not happen and my wife and I were trying to get the service improved by speaking with management and eventually it got better. Our waitress had other tables too which only limited her time with our table. Keep in mind they got a 21% tip on my $500.00 check. Not exactly 21% service in my book. My advice is skip the large party. I would not have come if I wasn't told we'd have two servers. Ambiance is great again food was too but it might be a while if we decide to go back read more

Went here for the first time last week for a date night and it was so far beyond expectations! I wasn't aware they were owed by the same people as Bare Bones Steakhouse next door and use the same meat so their food is amazing. The ambiance felt upscale and laid back at the same time and was so fun. Service was outstanding! The street corn dip and quesibirilla tacos were the star of the show. Food is great. Ambiance is really nice. However... If you have a large party, allow plenty of time for slow service. They only assign one server. Also trying to keep food for all to be served a one time doesn't work with one server - half is cooled off already. May be better to break party into two groups. read more

The wife and I went here last Sunday on a whim. I love downtown Buford and since Rico's World Kitchen was closed on Sunday we decided to try this place. First off the building is super cool. I love the location and the interior is Awesome, somebody spent some time and money designing this space. Not too big, very open, lots of throwback relics from when the place was the train station (at least that's what I think it was) and so forth. The waiter was slow getting to us but he was nice enough. First red flag. I ordered a frozen margarita and he said the machine had been down for several weeks so I could only get it on the rocks..Now I ask you....what kind of a Mexican place allows the frozen margarita machine to be out of commission for several weeks? They should have a back up to the back up if you know what I mean. I thought I had ordered an ice cream cone at McDonald's... But I could get past that if only the food was delivered quickly and tasted great....sadly no..food was slow, I can work with that....just need it to taste great...sadly no again. But here's the reason for the 2 stars...I ordered the burrito grande for lunch. The description for that dish was very simple, burrito with cheese sauce on it. That's all I wanted, one big (grande) burrito, no rice, no beans, nothing else...what came out was something entirely different. I actually thought it was a mistake, it looked like an enchilada, with.....you guessed it, rice, beans, lettuce, tomato etc...so I waited (for an extended amount of time) for my waiter to show up since the food was brought out by someone else. When I said this apparently is a mistake, he said oh no...I should have mentioned that, this is the burrito grande. When I commented it looked nothing like a burrito, and it certainly wasn't grande...he said "yeah it's a little game they play here" or something to that effect...so I ate my burrito (enchilada) and went away hungry....and a little sad.. So if you like the mystery between getting what is described on the menu vs. what you actually get, this is the place for you!!! read more

The service here, unfortunately is hit or miss. Mostly miss. What I'm going to do now, is IF we come back, call and ask if he is there. Otherwise, it's a no. It should not take over 10 minutes to get a beer. You should not have to ask for things, like napkins or refills to soda/water. They should not bring your meal with all these dirty appetizer plates on the table and they should not ask for dessert without bussing the table. 20% gratuity on parties or 8 more giving abysmal service is unbelievable. 2 hours we were there and not once did we see a manager not even pass by. read more

I visited off the rails today for the very first time. I was amazed. First let's start with the decor it was beautiful. As a eccentric person myself I really loved how they have it decorated with the stained glass the truck the goats it was beautiful. It was awesome to see how they have turned an old building into something beautiful and useful again. Having lived in Buford for 60 years I must say this was refreshing to see. Now let's talk about the staff. The staff was awesome they were very attentive very friendly very personal I love them I love the atmosphere of the place. While there we were graced with the presence of the owner and the head chef. Both just lovely people. Now let's talk about the food. I had the carnitas super delicious! I also tried the prickly pear aqua fresca that was good as well. My friends had the train wreck bowls and could not finish them so of course I had to taste theirs and they were super delicious as well. read more

The food was good and the service was good. But it's Mexican (not even tex-mex) for double the price of any other Mexican place with even better food. You want high quality Mexican you go to Superica and actually can tell a quality difference in everything they make and pay extra for it. As for OTR, you pay extra / double for tiny higher quality food. Drink costs were outrageous. $7 for a 16oz draught beer (Miller Lite shouldn't be that expensive) and $10 for 25oz. They don't even have Mexican beer on tap. A bottled corona or other beer is $7. Also quite high. Good luck with a basic margarita at $10 also. The decor is amazing though. Very well put together place and great ambiance. Yet again, can't see paying a lot extra for Mexican when there are significant other options nearby for almost half the price. I have no plans to return to this place. No lunch specials either which was disappointing. read more

Our third visit on a Saturday night at 5:45 and the place was packed. We had to park a good ways down Main street. We were seated right away and the hostess staff are friendly and seem to work in unison. Our waitress Destiny was on top of it all night and did not miss a beat. The chips and salsa were brought ahead of her getting to our table and we ordered our drinks, then table side large Quacamole that she made for us and then took our dinner order. I ordered the chicken enchilada and rice and she ordered the Steak Taco salad with and avocado Crema. The large table side quacamole was too large for two of us to finish. next time we will order a small. When the food came (timing was perfect) Both our dishes tasted very good. I was disappointed to find a chicken bone in my enchilada. I pointed it out to Destiny and she went to tell the manager and she came back and offered a discount on that plate. We were more concerned for the bone than a small discount. That being said, I left them at 4 stars as the tase of the food was very good and the service was also very good. On our next visit they will need to do exceptionally well to keep that 4th star. read more
