UPDATE: Alex worked with me to resolve some of the issues that I had with the original job. I appreciated his honesty and integrity when dealing with the problems that occurred. He followed-up well after the job was over to make things right. Not many contractors place this much emphasis on customer satisfaction. Thanks Alex. I was pretty disappointed with the experience I had as a customer of Tera Painting. I hired them for a siding job that took place in early November, 2015. They performed a very rushed, haphazard job that left me with a mess to cleanup and uncertainty about the quality of the work. There were two spots that were completely missed that I had to get them to come back to stain. The crew made no attempts to cover up windows or areas of the house that they were not working on with protective sheeting. I was left with wood pulp residue all over my windows, unrelated areas of siding, and patio furniture from the initial pressure washing of the house. They also made little attempt to clean up the mess. I had to point out the cleanup that needed to happen. I also had to ask them to come back again to clean the windows. Ultimately I hired a window washing company to clean up the windows because even after Tera sent a crew to cleanup, they were still covered in residue. I was told that "the rain should wash it off". Several months later I was able to convince the company to send someone back to clean a small portion of the dirtiest siding. The rain never washed it off, go figure. The owner committed to hand washing the dirty siding. Later, I was met with with a really rude tone on the phone (not the owner, but his scheduler?). The cleanup job was kind of a joke. The worker forgot to bring ladders to a three story house. He brought a pressure washer despite the hand washing plan (the pressure washer turned out to be broken). The initial scheduling of all of this work was a headache. I made it clear I wanted the job done before the rainy season. The owner said no problem. The owner targeted one of the last weeks with a weather window and said they would show up to start washing the siding early that week. They never came. I had to push for them to get the job done before the rains came. As far as I know the owner rarely (if at all) came by to check on status. I was informing him of things he didn't know. He wasn't aware of the large amount of residue from the pressure washing, for example, being left on the house. It seemed like there was a pretty large disconnect between the owner and his crew. Fast-forward a bit and I'm let wondering whether the hasty job was done correctly. I'm not happy about the final look of the stain, and I'm unsure of whether it will last. It's one thing to be displeased with a job, it's another to wonder if your home is adequately protected from the elements after a hasty paint job. read more

We recently hired TERA Painting to repaint our 1950s-era home, and the project turned out to be much more challenging than anyone expected. Years of old paint and previous paint failure meant there were many unexpected issues along the way. It definitely wasn't a straightforward repaint. I especially want to recognize Evan, our estimator and project coordinator, and Joel, the lead painter. When the project became more complicated than anticipated, Evan never disappeared or became defensive. He listened carefully to my concerns, communicated with me throughout the process, and, when it mattered most, personally rearranged his schedule to be on-site and make sure the final details were completed properly. That level of commitment meant a great deal to me. Joel's knowledge, craftsmanship, and attention to detail were equally impressive. It was obvious he cared about the finished product and took pride in doing quality work. Together, Evan and Joel were willing to rethink the approach as new challenges emerged, adapting the plan when needed rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all solution. They stayed committed to finding practical solutions and seeing a difficult project through instead of taking shortcuts or walking away when challenges arose. The final result is beautiful. My house looks refreshed, the curb appeal has been completely transformed, and I'm genuinely proud of how it turned out. Looking at it now, it's hard to appreciate just how much work went into getting it to this point. No major restoration project is ever perfect, but what impressed me most was their willingness to stay with a difficult job until it was done right. If you're looking for a company that stands behind its work, and you have people like Evan and Joel leading your project, you're in very good hands. We chose Tera for our residential paint job; from our research and the estimate we determined they would provide quality workmanship, professionalism, personalization, and their ease with which to work and that this corresponded to a reasonable price for the project. On the job, they confirmed these traits and more. From start to finish, receiving the estimate to checking off the final punch list item, Alex and his crew were wonderful to work with. The paint job quality was superb, and the customer service was great. No project goes off without a hitch, but Alex's sense of "going above and beyond", "doing the right thing", and "making things right" without question, carried this project. His crew needed to access our neighbors yards to reach and paint our side house; the crew's professionalism and care of neighbors personal property was noted and much appreciated by our neighbors. Much time and attention to detail was taken in getting the paint/stain color just right. Our shingles were a challenge to strip and re-stain (they look beautiful); after which we experienced issues with our windows of which Alex addressed immediately offering solutions, including an offer to replace which was not ultimately needed. We found Alex and crew extremely open to feedback and willing to address anything of concern. I had Alex from Tera come out to bid some commercial work for a new building that my company was moving into. I met with seven contractors to look through the building and submit a bid. Alex was by far the most professional, courteous, and knowledgeable contractor that looked through the building. He was very thorough, took extensive notes, and asked lots of questions. He was very straightforward about the schedule and cost that he would be able to provide. When Alex submitted the bid, everything that we discussed was included. A few days after he submitted his bid, he called me and said that he had been thinking about the bid and could shave some off of the price. He submitted a second bid for a reasonably lower price. This was not a result of me haggling prices with him. It was merely Alex realizing that he could do the job for less. The selection process ended up being drawn out, and Alex checked in a few times to follow up on his bid. At no point was he pushy or overly aggressive about it. Unfortunately, we ended up going with a slightly cheaper contractor. We ended up paying more than we would have with Alex because the other contractor did not cover the entire scope the way that Alex did, so we ran into several change orders. In the last year, I've had many contractors due to a house purchase / renovation. I don't usually leave reviews. However, Tera painting outcome, quality and service was so outstanding that they deserve a review and more than five stars. It started off with a very good advisor who was more advisor than sales person which I liked. They weren't the cheapest but price was competitive (got 3 bids). I had checked reviews and was looking for professionalism, good timely service and job done correctly the first time - They exceeded my expectations! They set great expectations and did everything they said they were going to do. They helped me on paint color when I requested it and even threw in additional painting on plant hangers ("We also want the final results to look great and these little touches matter.") The painters were great and Evan (project manager extraordinaire) was great keeping me informed, especially with unseasonal rain delay. When the rain prevented the job from being completed before the weekend, they helped make sure the house looked good for our weekend dinner party. Buying a house can be stressful enough but once that hassle is complete the nightmare is usually associated with work on the interior. After purchasing a new place, wanted to make the inside our own without breaking the bank. I am very picky and wanted to know that I was not only getting a value, but was getting great quality and working with a company that cared about my needs. Thank god for Tera as they surpassed my expectations. Great quality and didn't have to lift a finger myself, perfect way to welcome a new home. Alex came out to assess the damage the other contractor left. He was upfront about the cost and spent time to make sure we got what we wanted. His painter, virgilio, came out with his crew and exceeded all expectations making things perfect. They sanded all the trim to fix the old co tractors mistakes, then made it all look beautiful. Perfection! Our kitchen cupboard makeover was everything we could have asked for. We were informed of the step by step process and all our questions and concerns were alleviated.
