Foods has always been pretty good, and a stable around the area for a long long time. It is lean a bit sweeter than I'm used to but it's not too bad, the other flavors have depth so it balances out! The staff has always been so nice and friendly. There's not a whole lot of seating because of the space, but it's generally not too busy either. The parking is a bit hard to find, it's in the back and can easily be missed. I'm glad to see that they are still doing well! I tried the woo sen tom yum today. It seemed simpler than I expected. Just glass noodles in tom yum, and some mung bean sprouts and tofu. But after eating for a bit, the simplicity is nice. Every bite has some glass noodles and crunchy sprouted. The noodles had were perfect, while the duck soup was aromatic, and packed with tender meat in a broth that clearly simmered for hours. It's a cozy spot that's been around for over 25 years. Maybe the absolute worst Pad See Ewe I've ever had. Noodles were soggy not firm, and the beef (?) was chewy and tough. The shrimp basil spring roll has not a single taste of basil, but was simply a glorified lettuce wrap. I requested #2 hotter (which should be a middle of the road warmth) but there was not a lick of spice in this dish. Even the peanut sauce for dipping of the spring roll was watered down and not thick. The worst meal I've had in some time and I can't understand the ratings for this place. Came here for lunch with a couple of friends. It's a house located in downtown Libertyville. They have a parking lot behind the restaurant through an alley. We were able to be sat right away. The server seemed knowledgeable about GF. I ordered the Pad Thai and an ice tea. The Pad Thai was a bit sour with too much sauce for my liking but still decent. They also have curry that is GF. I've ordered from here again couple times now for delivery. Both were good lunches. Got soup one time and fried rice the other. The fried rice tasted very good! I'll order this again. And for me it was enough for 2 meals. My only complaint is the spice level. The online order lets you pick 1-5 on the spice rating. 5 is labeled as CRAZY HOT! The restaurant is very clean and the people working here are very polite and nice. We ordered the Crispy Egg rolls as our appetizer they were very crispy, hot, and delicious. I had a rubbery piece of meat in mine but I will still order these again. My husband ordered the Pad Thai with Beef and I ordered the Lad Nar with beef. Both entrees were fresh and full of flavor! Restaurant also is a store you can buy candy, groceries, and other things. After choosing to eat here, we knew we were going to get something with noodles to eat. It's in the name of course, so these had to be good. There's quite a few things to choose from, and more than just noodles too. It's about $11 at lunch. They have a few things on special. I got the Spicy Crazy Noodles. This is rice noodles stir fried with vegetables. It had a special chili sauce. You choose the protein, and I got it with tofu. Good variety of vegetables in it. There were bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, carrots, onions, and straw mushrooms. She had the Pad Thai, a classic. This was a pretty basic version with tofu as a protein. Great stuff for those who like things hot. It of course has noodles, but there's also things that come on rice if you would rather have it. The entrees mostly can be made for meat eaters, or these can have tofu for vegetarians. read more

Food here is really good. I'm Thai and very picky about where I eat. Although some of the dishes may not be as authentic as I would expect (my standards are very high), I found all the dishes to be executed very well. The Pad See Eiew was very delicious. The satay was also very good. The peanut sauce that came with the satay was very much up to my standards. The Panang curry was not as authentic as I was hoping for , to me it was way too much like a thick peanut sauce stew which isn't authentic but it wasn't bad. For those that love peanut sauce, then their Panang is for you. But I can say that their Panang is not how it's made in Thailand. My friend loves the pad Thai and that is what he ordered. I was able to taste some of it and it was very delicious and they did a good job. He also ordered tofu appetizer and I thought they were fried to a crisp just the way they're supposed to be. But when you're on a soup mission and are presented with more soups than you knew you wanted, well- you double soup it. Some important specifics: they have a heat scale, going from half a star and up. They'll repeat your order and verify everything, especially the spice rating you've chosen. Service is prompt. The main detractor is getting in, if you've never been there before. The driveway from route 21 is blink and you'll miss it. This USED to our favorite north suburban Thai place. Then they started charging $2.50 per 1/2 cup serving of cooked brown rice. This is less than half of a small Chinese food takeout container full. We used to get a whole container full of brown rice for $2.00. An entire bag of uncooked brown rice is about $2 at the grocery store. I called the restaurant to request a refund for the 2.50 and the manager refused. We had been customers for 4 years, but they just lost our business. read more

The ordering was hard for my friend yiu have to order online that stinks. You can not call in an order. On a good note the food was good. We had Masaman curry. Satay. Crispy egg roll ? A spicy Thai rice with beef. And a chicken dish. So I usually get my spice level 3-4 being new here I started with a 2 and man was that a lil spicy. I usually ask for extra spice but did not need it. Decided to give this place a try because of the other great reviews. Parking was located behind the building as was an entrance. The service was excellent. I was greeted immediately when I entered and was promptly shown to a table. Maybe I caught the chef on an off-day because I found the food to be bland and disappointing. I ordered a garlic dish and did not taste garlic at all. The presentation was interesting. The tofu was on top of some large romaine lettuce leaves which were soaked in their "brown sauce," which tasted like straight up soy sauce. The food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. I had the khao soy level 2 spicy (egg noodles, chicken, onions, and chili peppers in a coconut curry soup) while hubby had the pad Thai. I was surprised how red/orange my khao soy was since I was anticipating that it would only be minimally spicy (2/5 spice level). I was able to handle the heat but I probably should have ordered it without any spice since I wanted to taste the flavor of the broth. Overall, the khao soy was decent. Hubby's pad Thai noodles were kind of chewy and the flavor was just okay. Since pad Thai is arguably one of the most popular Thai dishes we had higher expectations. read more

I heard about this place from local friends in the area. Decided to come here to eat. Parking is small in the rear. When we got in we were asked how many and told to sit at the small two person table. I really wanted to sit at the bigger table as we planned to try several of their meal options on their menu. The table is so small that we just ended up ordering 4 items plus drinks. The staff was okay, I just didn't like the idea we were seated in such a small table. The food was not really authentic Thai cuisine but catered towards the standard American palette. The restaurant is small in size but was clean. In my experience and opinion of the food there was no wow factor that would have me keep coming back or think about the place in the future when craving Thai food. As I've mentioned that it is catered to a standard American taste, it lacks all the flavors and spices and ingredients that a true authentic Thai dish would have. The soup was basically just broth didn't have much flavor of spices and vegetables in it. I really found it to be bland. I can't say much for the rest of their dishes in their menu but 4 out of 4 from what we ordered we ended up not eating and decided to go try another Asian restaurant nearby. So over all, service was okay but the food was disappointing specially for the price, portion size, and lack of authentic flavor and ingredients. This might appeal to the general American market who are used to not having spices and heat to their food but it didn't leave a good lasting impression for me as I've travelled, cooked and eaten enough Thai cuisine in my lifetime.
