    Mongolian beef
    Courtney T.

I typically can always count on Green Room serving up great food and drinks, however my last visit was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, the staple menu item I order each time I visit. My guest ordered the Mongolian beef. My pad Thai came out visibly different than times past. It looks almost watered down and the tofu was not coated and seared with the beautiful crust it normally has. I ate it and it tasted... sour. Normally this pad Thai leans savory over sweet, but this time it just straight up tasted sour. The tofu was nothing to write home about, which is typically not the experience I have here. The Mongolian beef tasted like it had more sear on the meat than actual beef. It tasted over-charred. The rice and veggies were good, but that's kind of a simple feat. I ordered the Pomegrantate martini which was good. The space was also very hot, I understand it's a hot day and a busy restaurant but my legs were dripping in sweat the entire hour we were there. I will give them a try again, because I know from previous experiences the pad Thai was usually great. That tofu is what I keep coming back for! Hopefully next time it'll meet my expectations. This was this past weekend on Friday night.

My Friend and I were looking for a good place to meet and have some "girl time." What a gem! I would recommend reservations though. When I first arrived, my friend was running late. The waiter was friendly and recommended the pomegranate martini! GREAT CHOICE! It was pretty and delicious. The atmosphere is a little tight but very inviting and fun. It is fairly small...just a store front, but we were comfortable at our table. The food was AMAZING! We had the Pad Thai and the nutty chicken. I am not a fan of tofu! However, the tofu in the PAD Thai was Beyond delicious!!! The Nutty Chicken was delicious as well and came with mash potatoes. YUM YUM YUM I am not a big fan of downtown Libertyville because of the parking and ease of access to the actual restaurants. However, I was able to find on street parking pretty easily at 5:00 pm on a Friday evening. Plus, the food is definitely worth the adventure.

The Green Room has been a favorite of my family and I for years! It's always delicious when we go. The food and drinks are amazing! We love the bang bang shrimp (they are gluten free too!), the mussels, the fish with the butter sauce (it's usually a special), and the general tso chicken. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal here! It used to be a Chinese restaurant so hence the Chinese inspired dishes. It gets packed around 7pm so be sure to make a reservation. Although small, the ambiance is really cozy and upbeat. The service is also great. We will keep coming to The Green Room for years to come! We very loyal!!

General Tsos chicken and crab rangoons

I ordered takeout from Green Room because the reviews were great. Got some general chicken and some crab rangoons. The order was $34 before tip and this is the portions I received. Food was not good, it was cold, not enough for the price, and they forgot my sweet and sour sauce. Service was below average. Inside seemed okay, just another dimly lit tiny restraunt. Will not be going back

I'm disappointed IN US that we didn't visit The Green Room sooner! It's a small place that is so inviting and has a very cool ambiance. We tried most of the items on their daily specials menu, which were all fantastic! The walleye had a crisp crust, the mussles were cooked in a wonderful creamy sauce, the Hong Kong noodles were cooked perfectly and were so flavorful! We all had their version of a Ranch Water, which didn't disappoint. WELL DONE Green Room! You got a standing ovation and we will absolutely be back!

They were great and friendly and I did not mention or complain about the lack of customizations to them nor did I complain about the onions- i did not say a word when trying to figure out kikosk (or tablet whatever you call it) Kikosk ordering at the counter- It would not allow me to add sauce on side. There was no description of what it was so was confusing when ordered at first. The menu/kikosk doesnt say what kind of sauce- drives me crazy when there is no clear definition for people who are picky or cant have certain items in their food. My shake did not come with whipped cream unlike pictures or social media feeds. Fountain drink was flat to my disappointment so got refunded for that only and went with water. Clean taste. Burger has great potential but if they are not allowing us to customize it to our own preference it will fail in this location. Lack of toppings to my dismay- When I got my burger with the sauce cheese and grilled onions, it looked good at first glance. When I bit into the grilled onions it was not tender/soft it was like eating stringy rope with the burger yanking it out with my teeth . Sauce wasnt memoriable for me. Still have no idea what it consisted of even few days later. Again Bun/meat was delish driving me on eating the burger. Fries were ok- nothing to write home about. Not coming back though until they improve on some areas. This is too expensive for the mistakes/lack of customization/options for a picky person like me. If it was signifcantly less in cost I would have let it slide and bring home plain burgers and customize it at home. But this was a HUGE bucket list for me being open minded about what went on my burger (I usually ask for plain with certain toppings only) Best of luck to this establishment!

I'm nervous about this review, because I'm pretty confident I'm not the right person to write this…read more Let me start by stating up front that I am not now, nor have I ever been, Filipino. This is the first and only Filipino restaurant I've ever eaten at, so I don't claim to have a great frame of reference. Let me also add that I've eaten here five or six times, and to this day I have no idea what I've ordered. But it's soooo good. Everything I've ever had from Salamat Po has been amazing. So I want to speak to people like me who don't know Filipino cuisine- get in there and try it, you'll be glad you did. I generally go there for lunch, which begins with me standing patiently behind several people who clearly know what it is they're ordering, and they're ordering lots of it. While I'm waiting, I stare at everything in the glass case, and usually something new slides out of the kitchen. I might be wrong about this, but I think the food has been different every time I've been there. When I get to the counter, the server always helpfully tells me the name of whatever dish I'm pointing at, but I'm fairly hopeless when it comes to learning these things. The gentleman today was happy to let me sample anything I wanted, but by the time I got up there my heart was already set on something- a beef stew that wound up tasting as good as it looked, tender and flavorful, in an absolutely perfect broth. I also picked up some sort of fried, salted cinnamon plantain dessert that I'll be dreaming about for the next few nights. I found the portion size to be excellent, with a healthy helping of stew on a bed of rice- more than enough to fill me up for lunch and still have a few bites to share with a co-worker. There are still some things I'm looking forward to trying there- the dessert case has some glorious-looking puddings I need to get next time (unless they have those plantain desserts again), and there's a fish entree I've seen a few times that's been calling my name. Just a note for my fellow eaters new to Filipino food- bring your sense of adventure and an open mind. You'll find some flavors, textures and- let's be honest- some parts you're not used to. Try a few samples, and I'm sure you'll find a new favorite.

Our server Chad explained the menu in detail, offered recommendations, and took great pride in the restaurant. Everything is made from scratch, and they have a beautiful open kitchen. We started with the octopus, which our friends and Chad both recommended, and it lived up to the hype. They sous vide it so it's super tender, then crisp it for that little crunch you want in an octopus appetizer. The romesco and chorizo combo had us scraping the plate clean. For dinner, my husband had the hanger steak served with a large bone filled with bone marrow, along with brioche, truffle butter, and the Aligot and Brussels sprouts for sides. The Brussels and butternut squash were sweet, spicy, crispy, and salty - just amazing. I had the monkfish, which is very similar to lobster, and it was delicious!
