Poke nachos were unexpectedly superb! They used fried wontons which are delicate but crispy. Tuna poke cubes are chunky. I had the katsu and ribs combo. The chicken was well done but not dry! Probably the moistest fried chicken breast I ever had. Large portions as well. Definitely recommended. Packaging can be made compostable that is why 4 stars only. Also, the staff could be more attentive. We were looking in their direction as we were ready to order and was hungry. Instead they chose to clear the table next to us. There wasn't anyone else on the floor and it was 12:30pm. We came from a walk so were so ready to eat. Also, one of my friend's complaint was when she asked if they have ice, they said yes. Then they asked if she want ice, lol. Naturally. The intuition is barely there.

Mother's day at Da Local Boy. Food never fails to impress. Huge portions. Very tasty. Cooked just right. Everything was fresh off the grill. Highly recommended...great to know the quality, size and service is still topnotch and has not changed from the food truck days.

Was looking to try something new and was pleasantly surprised by Da Local Boy! We got the Aloha Mixed Plate (swapped the rice for fries -- small up-charge but totally worth it) and Braddah Paul's Plate. Portions were way bigger than we expected, so we had leftovers. The chicken was juicy with a nice char, the fries were crispy and seasoned well, and the mochiko chicken + pork belly combo on Paul's Plate had great flavor, the poke was fresh, everything hit the spot! The restaurant has a great vibe, clean, bright, and the music is at the perfect volume so my spouse and I were able to talk and enjoy our lunch. Staff were attentive and really friendly. Overall, a great experience.

A long overdue review since we've been long time fans, we were SO excited to hear that they were opening a brick and mortar last year. We've been back so many times and have introduced so many of our friends to it. Our most recent visit was today where we stopped in for brunch. They've now added items to the menu to offer a more table side experience and we had an incredible time. We started with the spam masubi and the bbq skewers. It was the perfect bite and truly reminded us of our favorite bites in Hawaii. For my entree I opted for the Poke bowl with included their poke of the day, and today it was the ahi. There was plenty in the bowl and it absolutely hit the spot! I usually get their oh Bruddah plate to have a combination of a bunch of my favorite things. There's nothing like the comfort of Hawaii here in the north shore. Can't wait to come back and get my next fix!

This is a great local Hawaiian restaurant with a Maui twist. Look for the Hawaii flag outside the entrance. The interior is casual and clean. Our meals were delicious. The Hawaiian music really brought us closer to home. Before heading back on the road, we got two Spam musubis to go. The staff was friendly and our dishes were served rather quickly. I highly recommend Da Local Boy!

This is a small, cozy eating establishment. Waiters are super nice and accommodating. I got the mochiko chicken and enjoyed it a lot - it's delightfully crunchy on the outside but soft and juicy on the inside. Their macaroni salad is delicious as well. It can get busy and I hear from friends that it can sometimes take a while to get a table. Plenty of free parking available in the area.

This spot recently has been on my radar and yep, def going back lol. We actually got a lot to share as the portions are pretty damn generous! We got take out but when I went in to pick up the food made a mental note of how comforting and charming this place is. No frills, just a couple tables but cozy! The flavors of every single thing we had were perfectly balanced. All their entrees fortunately come with a little side of their macaroni salad and, oh man, what a hell of a side!! And then there were those Poke Nachos Such a novel idea but the combination of tortilla chips and poke did wonders. Yep...I'll be back. If their fake out was this fresh I can't wait to do a dine in!!

Was passing by in the area and saw this place on google and WOW, truly enjoyed everything we had. So flavorful, and the portions are also so generous! I haven't had much Hawaiian food but by far, this is the best that I've had in Illinois.

Had to update that we have been to their storefront many times now and their food truck countless times. EVERY SINGLE TIME it is spot on. We absolutely love the food and it takes us back to our times in Hawaii. Everyone who works here always is happy to help. The owners are so sweet and passionate about what they do. We cannot express how much we love supporting this business! The storefront is absolutely beautifully decorated and has perfect relaxed vibes. Exactly as if you were in a cafe in Hawaii :) They deserve all the success ! You will not regret trying them out. Our favorites: Poke nachos (so fresh!) Poke bowl (YUM) Pulehu short ribs (to die for!) Mochiko chicken (crunchy and flavorful) Everything else we have tried has been amazing as well!!!

Just love love love this restaurant! It reminds me of being back in Hawaii when I can't be there. If you are hesitant on what to order, the Huli-Huli, Katsu Chicken, and short ribs won't disappoint and will have you coming back for more! Spread the word and the love! Come down and give it a try! It will soon become a recurring fab

I have been looking for a place that offered dim sum and…read moredumplings for a while now (ever since I experienced them at Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone in Seattle) and I can honestly say that Seriously Sanji is a great place. My wife told me there was a dumpling place in Northbrook and took me there for a late lunch the other day. I know that she's not a fan of dumplings, but "took one for the team" and brought me there. We just ordered basic beverages, her a water and I a Coke Zero. She then ordered Pad Thai and I ordered chicken soup dumplings and chicken sanji. The pad thai came out first and it was a huge portion. She barely put a dent into it and it became two additional meals later. She said it was different than other places she's had it and that it was good, but different. I noticed the chicken pieces were huge chunks and the sauce had a little kick to it and wasn't thick, but it was tasty. I first got the chicken soup dumplings. Man, they were good. They're larger than the ones I've had at Din Tai Fung and The Dough Zone, but they sure are delicious. And since I prefer not to drive into the city and spend over an hour on the road to get downtown, to go find some other dumpling/dim sum place; I'm happy there's a great place in the suburbs near me. They rival the other two mentioned previously. Their sauces are great, the dumplings are great. The sanji was delicious. Heck, that's in their darn name. All of it was good. And this is my go to place in the suburbs now. The place is a cute. As you enter the vestibule, there's a dumpling with a body welcoming you in. The place is just all black and red and you wait to be seated. There is a container with chopsticks on each table, but the napkin is wrapped around a fork (most places you have to ask for a fork, so this is a nice change). I could use a knife for the sanji as they are quite big, but it's not a problem eating them without. Our server was very nice and helpful. There's really no place in the north to northwest suburbs that serves this type of food and you'd be foolish to skip it. I'll see you there soon. I'll be the one making the yummy sounds.

However, the food was very bad. We ordered pad thai with tofu, and the dish that was brought out was about 75% massive, tasteless chunks of tofu. What few noodles could be found underneath all the tofu were mixed with chopped onion, diminishing their ratio even further. There was a tiny pile of about 1/2 tsp of ground peanuts added in one corner of the plate. The sauce tasted sour and burnt. One of the worst pad thai variations I've had in a long time. Still.. I wouldn't fault them just for having bad food, but within an hour of leaving the restaurant, both the spouse and I were having an upset stomach, and ended up not being able to finish our drive home without having to pull over and find a public restroom. I would chalk it up to coincidence, but my spouse revealed that when she used the restroom, there were prominent signs indicating that no one is allowed to flush any sort of toilet paper down the toilet, and instead has to put them in open bins sitting in each stall next to the toilet. Each stall in the restroom had open trash cans filled with used toilet paper full of fecal matter, which is pretty horrifying to think of in a restaurant serving food in a first world country. My spouse brought home her leftovers and heated up them the next morning and within a half hour of eating them, was already having an upset stomach again which endured for the remainder of the day. We would definitely not eat here again, and it seems like the health department probably needs to pay this place a visit.

Ordering was a breeze and the guys were always open to a conversation or giving suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the meal was always tasty. Just a note but the further away you move from any major city the fewer and harder it is to find great Asian food. The suburb is lucky to have them. The pandemic brought new staffing. Some were pleasant with customers though one lady, a supervisor had the wrong ideas of what customer service and proper etiquette is. Just the basics of my final visit. I took my family for lunch. We ordered lunch specials and a couple extra must-try plates. Two specials hit the table and the third was left waiting for her meal. Unbeknownst to us in the moment, her food was handed to a single patron there for his lunch. The place was filling up with a lunch rush but not so many that had complicated orders. Many were ordering similar lunch specials. Kung pao lunch special was popular. When her order finally arrived the supervisor realized she had given the wrong plate to the customer sitting some tables behind us. Mind you ten minutes had already passed. She quickly went over to him and asked what he had ordered. She then took the plate he was eating from and handed him the fresh plate. He was still holding a half eaten egg roll in his hand. Then she brought the quarter eaten plate and placed it in front of my mother. Before she could leave I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. She simply stated that was her lunch order. I told her she handed my mother someone else's food that they were eating and I watched the whole thing. Why didn't you take that to the back and make a completely new plate of food?! I paid the bill and got the F**k out. That's gross. Also, you gave the other patron new food but cannot do the same for our table?? This place is dead to me. If she could do that, it beckons the question of what else is happening behind the scenes.

It is a noisy place full of older customers that know everyone in the place. Lots of customers hugging the staff, talking with the owners, and other tables. A great atmosphere if you are a local. One of the owners even suggested carrot cake for our desert. Really good by the way. We did see a number of regulars tables that were receiving complimentary appetizers. I get it, but you should treat first time customers the same to make them repeat customers? The issue was with service and how we were treated after we had to get service. Our server disappeared once our main course was ordered. Yes the place was packed, but the server made sure she kept on touching base with the regulars tables and we received less attention. Well like no attention. Well like we had to go to the bar to one of the owners to get our check. Well and when my significant other tried to comment that we had a lack in service the owner walked away from us. She turned a really nice first time experience into a never going back and write a bad review experience. (And my significant other was mad the whole evening, which made the event worse for me.) So even though I wanted to at least give them a 2 star review I had to tie it back to the tip we gave of $1. Regretfully we will not be going back to The Green Room.

I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, the staple menu item I order each time I visit. My guest ordered the Mongolian beef. My pad Thai came out visibly different than times past. It looks almost watered down and the tofu was not coated and seared with the beautiful crust it normally has. I ate it and it tasted... sour. Normally this pad Thai leans savory over sweet, but this time it just straight up tasted sour. The tofu was nothing to write home about, which is typically not the experience I have here. The Mongolian beef tasted like it had more sear on the meat than actual beef. It tasted over-charred. The rice and veggies were good, but that's kind of a simple feat. I ordered the Pomegrantate martini which was good. The space was also very hot, I understand it's a hot day and a busy restaurant but my legs were dripping in sweat the entire hour we were there. I will give them a try again, because I know from previous experiences the pad Thai was usually great. That tofu is what I keep coming back for! Hopefully next time it'll meet my expectations. This was this past weekend on Friday night.
