It's been almost 10 months since his surgery at Vet Playas and he is still doing fabulous and pooping like a champ! I am so grateful to Dr. Juan and the entire staff. The surgery was a complete success and it cost a fraction of what they charge for this surgery in the states! The entire staff was so professional and caring and they spoke English as well as Spanish. I also learned that a perineal hernia is more common in dogs that are not neutered and are older in age - yet another reason to spay and neuter! (I had adopted my dog when he was a senior and thought it would be okay not to neuter at the time.) I wholeheartedly recommend Vet Playas for their veterinary expertise and their kindness. I noticed that my dog wasn't put to sleep immediately. It took her couple minutes to finally sleep. I couldn't bear watch her that now I think they didn't do the procedure properly as putting her with anesthesia first. I wish I didn't put my dog through this place. They are quick to see the dog and will give fast care but they have become expensive and a little careless. They seem to money driven now. They don't weight the dogs as they should to give proper medication dosages. They also have increased their prices that don't seem to be any better than the US.

Last week, my bully had an ACL tear, and surgery was the only option to avoid long-term limitations and medication. Even though I live in the Bay Area, I don't mind traveling for non-urgent surgeries because I trust Dr. Hector completely. My dog always heals quickly and well under his care. Dr. Hector provides all necessary medications and is always reachable with the most helpful information. The doctor provides taxi/pick up drop off from and to San Diego. If there was something I could do to ensure this guy never practiced veterinary medicine in the US again, I would do it.

My first green flag was seeing multiple pets being cared for behind the front desk, literally hanging out freely instead of being locked in cages, I absolutely LOVED THAT!! There are no appointments, you just wait your turn. I've been there four times, and only once did I wait for my turn about 15-20 minutes. Every other visit was less than 5 minutes. The clinic looks like a house from the outside, so parking is limited, but even then I only had to wait about 10 minutes once. I took my 7-year-old pittie because he was bleeding while peeing. They ran different tests, diagnosed him with an enlarged prostate, and recommended surgery (neutering). It's now been 11 days since he got surgery at El Club de Nana, his stitches are out, the bleeding is completely gone, and he's happier and has so much more energy. I used Google Translate to explain to the medical staff his issues (heart murmur/failure, horrible teeth). Then the veterinarian that spoke English arrived and saw him. He explained what they would do and I left him there for a couple hours. They extracted 3 teeth and cleaned his remaining teeth and gave aftercare medicine and instructions! Wabi is doing great and his remaining teeth look amazing! This was at a fraction of the cost of the quotes I got from his vet in OC. They only take cash! Highly recommend! Pro tip - if you have global entry, register your car so you can take the fast sentri lanes. I went back to SD to eat breakfast with family while I waited for Wabi to be ready. Also, try to go on a weekday since they don't take appointments and it's first come, first served. If they are busy they may make you come back another day for the procedure. If you think your dog may need to undergo anesthesia - refrain from giving them food/water before you visit.
