Awesome Portuguese steak sandwiches you can't go wrong with the fish and chips and you can always try parking little necks

Came here a few weeks ago with my parents. Parking is a bit weird but ok. We didn't wait long but we went early. Maybe about 5 pm. We ordered half chicken with português stuffing, vegetable and potatoes. Wow!! I couldn't believe the amount of food! Everything was delicious! I loved it. My father ordered a seafood dish that he enjoyed. We got the house wine which was great. The server, I wish I could remember his name, was phenomenal! He was very patient and helpful with the menu. I had leftovers forever! Can't wait to come back and try more food. Definitely recommend! read more

The absolute worst, I am not going back there again! I ordered the shrimp Mozambique and chorizo as starters, and finished off with steak a terra nostra. The shrimp gave me food poisoning and I have been sick for 3 days. The server? I asked him if the fries were re-fried and he answered no, and afterwards went in the kitchen say that it was a stupid question! Will never come back 0/10 read more

When out for an old school Portuguese steak, fried egg, and round fries. I used to come here with my parents and it is now the place I go to when back in town and I want good Portuguese food. We were a party of 9 and all got our food within minutes from each other. We had steaks, chicken, and fish meals. Not a single complaint and the food was flavorful. My only 2 issues are: if you order the steak medium it will come out medium well and it took some time for the food to come out (there was 9 of us in the party though). I know my family will keep going and I'll be back for more Portuguese food in the future. read more

Stopped in here after a bridal appt nearby after a local recommended. As soon as I walked in I realized this must be a local place with locals sitting around the bar eating their meals quitely. What is the saying - if no one is talking the food must be damn good? My fiance and I both ordered different steak dishes and the sauce was so good. Mine was a thinner cut because i prefer those with 2 eggs and fries. His was 2 eggs, fries, rice (which was delicious) and sirlion perfectly cooked. Quick service and very attentive. read more

This happens to be the best Portuguese food restaurant in the city and I have been to them all!

My family was craving some authentic Portuguese food (since we don't have a lot of options in California), so we dropped by Terra Nostra to fill fill that void in our bellies. This place does seem very mafiaesque, good description. An elegant, classy type of mafia though. Some hard working Portuguese construction workers were at the bar taking a load off so if you are fond of the drink, this place would be a good consideration. The waitress was prompt with our order and gave us plenty of time to browse the menu. Waiting for the food was another story entirely. I'm pretty sure the the cook forgot to come into work that day because our order took FOREVER to get to us. I had the Portuguese Steak Sandwich with fries. Sandwich was tasty but the fries were luke warm and lacked the crisp of a quality fry. Please, for the love of the Azores, be a little more timely with the orders! read more

I have only been inside the restaurant a few times to sit down and have dinner but my family usually does take out frequently. Every time we have been satisfied with our order ( usually we order Portuguese steak, chicken mozambique and chicken fingers for the kids.) The staff is friendly and welcoming. Be sure to ask for extra rice and gravy though! I would recommend Terra Nostra to families and large groups. read more

I ate here with my family in January of this year. I've been meaning to go back, but it is a little bit pricey for me and the portions are not that big. Most of my family ordered little necks and steak/potatoes/something like that. It looked very good and plentiful but I don't like little necks so I passed. I ordered kale soup and crab cakes. I didn't pay, so I can't really recall the costs. I want to say that the kale soup was 3.75 and it was a pretty small portion. It was delicious, though, I wouldn't say worth the price for what it was. The crab cakes were cooked wonderfully and had a slice of lemon on the side. I believe it came with 6 or 8 crab cakes -- I had a couple at the restaurant and brought the rest home. I would definitely go again! read more

I went here accidentally, planning on going to Cinderella and not realizing that there was more than one Portuguese restaurant in Fall River! Don't go here, just DON'T do it! Service is unfriendly and the food is really bad (watery, tepid kale soup, weird shredded chicken to go with the complimentary bread, and just plain bad chicken mozambique) . My father was wondering if the place was a guise for mafia dealings, what with the tacky decor and suspicious men at the bar. Came for a birthday lunch on a Saturday. Decor not its strong point. Party ordered the house steak, codfish, and arroz de marisco. The marisco was ok but some of the octopus was overcooked. Steak was good but I recommend ordering medium if you want well done and so on. The best dish was the cod. Great presentation and fresh n tasty. Highlight of the lunch. read more

This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants in Fall River. All the workers are always exceptionally nice and provide good service. I have never had an issue here whether it was dining in or getting carry out. Definitely recommend coming here read more

They have no veggie selection at all which bummed me out a bit but our waitress was nice enough to make something that was edibile for myself. My hubby did vouch that the food he ordered was great and the portion was amazing. I agree with Shawn, a nice homey place to bring friends for dinner. The service on a Wednesday night was great, our waitress Fatima was very pleasant. The three of us were all pleased with our meals, the wine the waitress recommended, a red called Adegaborba was excellent, the fish cake appetitizer was light and very good, I really liked the Portuguese Bean pie for dessert. On the down side, the bar was too close to the dinning room, making it a bit to noisy and the shrimp in the shrimp mozambique still had the vein in. We decided to go here for my mother's birthday celebration since she hadn't been to this particular restaurant since we were children. We thought it'd be a nice nostalgia experience for her. Of course it being a Saturday night, we knew it'd be a little wait time especially going in a big group. We sat down and there was bread on the table, mind you with no butter. As we sat there, the waiter came out with the menus and didn't return for the longest time while there were more people walking into the room. We sat there for what felt like 15 minutes before he finally returned with lo and behold the butter and to get our drink choices. Again, we waited for our drinks (only 3 of us had ordered wine out of 9 people) and as we waited, we grew more and more impatient as we watched everyone around us get their drinks and foods so smoothly. Of course we start to get upset and even thought about just leaving when the waiter finally came back with the drinks and was about to walk away again but had to tell him no, we're going to order our food now. We all knew what we wanted by that point. He took our orders down and already from looking on the menu earlier, we knew it'd be another 45 minutes on top wait for the food. Poor children we had with us were starving by this point and restless. We had arrived at the restaurant 6:30 and didn't leave until almost 9:00. This was a great place for my wife and i this week. we usually try a number of resteraunts and this one is top notch portuguese!!! i love the kale soup, warms you right up. and my wife enjoys the shrimp very much so. i got the pork and little necks and was not disapointed, they give you a large amount and its so delicious! the wait staff is all very friendly and they all know what there doing, not doddling around like a lot of these young kids do now. this is a great place and we will surley be returning for another great experience. read more

The only thing I remembered when we dined here was the service sucks!!! The dining area is located at the back. The front room consisted of the bar area. It was a nice gentleman who waited on us but everything was just sloooowwww. There were diners who came after us and they were served first. This gave me and my bf sour faces. The other waitress heard me complain then lo, and behold! Our waiter came out with our soup and salad. He didn't bring our drinks though. We had to wait for that too! We ended up eating everything without our wine. This was bad, really bad...He only came back with our drinks (after waiting for a month) when he brought our main entrees. I had the Mozambique shrimp and chicken which was pretty bland. My bf ordered one of that day's special, the liver with sides. He requested a fried egg with it. Well well. The waiter forgot the egg too. And only came back with it when my bf had already finished his food. What the heck were we supposed to do with that piece of egg now? He was embarrassed coz he apologized profusely but c'mon. I go out to eat and pay for the service, to be waited on, so I don't have to cook and waste time waiting. Never mind the mediocre taste of the food. We don't know why this particular waiter was so slow. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. There were lots of empty tables. Then we heard another couple from another table yell at a waitress and said, "We've been waiting for a long time for our water!". We opted not to order dessert coz we were already upset. But my bf, being Portuguese lie he is, has to have a cappuccino after every meal. So he ordered one. We've been looking at our clocks the whole time, it wasn't a relaxing experience at all. We waited and waited, and finally my bf got up to look for this waiter. And what do you know, he was at the other room, at the bar, BARTENDING!!! So all this time he was doing these two jobs. It was horrible!!! We, the diners, suffered from this consequence. My bf demanded for his cappuccino there. Waiter apologized again when he came back but this was just too much. This place needs to up their game coz there's so much competition in the area. Our whole dining experience was ruined. (Forget that the coffee tasted burned.) Haven't been here in years so being a Monday not many places open so we decided to try it.got seated by the owner the waitress brought over bread and took our drink order now being in a Portuguese restaurant bread is huge for me not one minute after getting the bread the owner came back to the table and took the bread away and replaced it with a old basket freshly microwaved. ..... should have left then ....... we ordered the soup the description on menu was not what they bought to the table . The meal just went downhill from there ...so needless to say I will never be back ....couldn't enjoy my meal just kept thinking about the bread no good Portuguese restaurant would microwave bread .....it is a sin...... read more

Tried Terra Nostra for the first time yesterday & I will not be going back. My boyfriend and I both got the chicken Mozambique & threw up afterwards. The chicken was also very tough to cut or bite into. The fries were very good though. The rice was very bland. I suggest making a trip to Churrascarias Aveirense Restaurant in New Bedford on Sawyer Street. Terra Nostra Restaurant is not worth the time, money or effort. read more

We headed out to a restaurant up the street but could not get parking. Decided to go around the block one more time and spotted this place. We have been looking for a new place for Portuguese food. We were not disappointed. The bread was quickly served and the people sitting on both sides were nice enough to share their opinions of their best liked meals. With the bread they brought a dish of Caserla and it was delicious. We tried the house wine and opted for a half of a bottle later. For our main meal we did have pork and little necks and it was nice to have more than 4 little necks I think there were 7 which was nice. Our other meal was grilled pork loin which also was great. Not dry and there was plenty of both meals to share. There was two types of breads and they were both great. There are two parking lots and we did not have a parking problem. $43.00 and we left with lunch for tomorrow. They were a bit busy but we were not in a hurry. The service was good. The place was clean. There is a bar where you can wait if there is a backup for seating. Nice place. Will definitely be back. read more

Educated people know that Terra Nostra is latin for our land or our country not to be confused with "causa nostra" which is italian for "our cause" . In the island of San Miguel there's the Terra Nostra hotel and an eco-park with the same name. In Montreal Canada you'll also find a restaurant named Terra Nostra. Portuguese people are not know to be involved with the mafia, they are decent, hardworking people. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid and now I bring my family. I knew the people that established it before, the food was great then and the people sitting at bar were a lot different, but I still think that the food is very good, the price is right, the service is decent and if the soccer game isn't on the bar crowd is not bad. so ..........yeh! The cuserla for sampling on the table woes exceptionally good. The Portuguese bread was fresh and delicious. Staff was adequate. Decor was tacky but funny. The food was great! Excellent service. I find their lunch menu to be short but I like prefer that makes picking something that much easier. Its definitely on par with restaurants like T&A and Springs Primavera. I the only thing I disliked was their parking (at least Infront of the resturant) is really tight and hard to get out of. read more

Been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. The food has been in my opinion the best Portuguese food in the city. All the steaks are great, the surf and turf is always great and my wife loves the roasted potatoes. The bread is always fresh and the soups are perfect every time. Keep up the good work! read more
