SOLID 5 STARS! Stopped in randomly for lunch with Mom, place is exceptionally clean, neat, comfortable and organized! Food is outrageously good! Great portions, fixings, great coffee and fast and very kind, attentive service! Staff was more tham accommodating with a last minute request for a birthday candle/cake for Mom.. and sang in Portuguese! Best, most authentic Portuguese restaurant this side of the Atlantic! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We haven't been to Portas in a while so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the courtyard. The waitress was quick to greet us and take our drink order. The peach sangria was delicious! We ordered the chicken wings with a side of Mozambique sauce to dip our wings in. YUM! Dinner was the stuffed scrod with a side of the creamy Mozambique sauce and the shrimp Mozambique. We love their Mozambique sauce! Just perfect. We would highly recommend!

This place gets busy, so plan ahead! I was in town for work and my coworker and I struggled to get a restaurant here, but we were happy that we did. There are 2 sections to the restaurant, one more upscale and one more relaxed, so plan accordingly. I ordered the Espetada a Madeirense. The kabobs came on a big spit of sorts and the dish came with plenty of meat. I enjoyed the crunchy homemade potato chips that came with it. My coworker ordered one of the steak specials and also really enjoyed it. I'd recommend for meat lovers, but they also have a bunch of other options.

Under all these potatoes is a 12 ounce I believe steak this one was cooked about medium, maybe a little more, and homemade potato chips

Recommended here as a local Portuguese restaurant which I haven't been to mini so I thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant was not very crowded so I sat at the bar with the locals got me a cold beer and looked at the menu. I decided to go with their Portuguese steak, which comes in a mound of gravy and about a pound of homemade potato chips... A little bit too much but no vegetable. That may have been my fault, but I thought I ordered potatoes and vegetables either way quite tasty. The steak and the gravy to me was actually lacking a little spice... The steak was pretty tough for a ribeye. It cut more like a strip and was a little over cooked for me, but once it soft in the gravy, it was very good and their bread was fantastic. Service was excellent, the atmosphere was fantastic, nice and accommodating and it was good to get out to a different type of restaurant for a change. I wasn't able to eat it all but when I did it was quite tasty and I'm glad I had a chance to try it. Highly recommend. !

I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. I was visiting from our of town and had to get Mozambique while I was in the area. I decided on the creamy seafood Mozambique special and it was amazing. Garlicky, Zesty, Creamy.. mmm. So delicious. I could drink that sauce. I brought home some leftovers (because portions are huge here) and that was all I could think about all night.

They did it again! Food is delicious and satisfying with enough to take home. The espresso martinis are the best! Staff is friendly and attentive. Seating is open and clean. Always busy / parking lot full however, they always seem to be accommodating

Unfortunately, I was met with an absolutely atrocious attitude from the young lady who served me today. I asked for two whole filets of Arctic Char from the back cooler instead of the two in the front case. Why? Well, the real answer is that it doesn't matter why...I'm the customer paying nearly $60 for fish and if that's what I want, then the correct answer is a smile and a "no problem, let me go get that for you!" Instead, what I got was a look of utter contempt and an "I mean, what's the difference?" sarcastic reply with one palm raised up to emphasize just how ridiculous my request was. When she returned with the fish, I said "just FYI, all that should matter is that I'm the customer (paying top dollar for a premium product), maybe I'm just a bit OCD." Her response, again with that famous Gen-Z contempt, was "I mean, there's no difference, we just brought it (the fish in the case) out, but anyways, I got you your fish." She just didn't get it. The owner overheard everything and chimed in "all of our fish is fresh here, you don't need to worry about that." Yeah, I know that it's a good product, it's why I shop here, but if my unique brain feels better about having it brought out from the back cooler, why should that merit even a drop of bad attitude?! I told the owner, "I just shouldn't have to explain myself," he retorted "you didn't" and I told him "no, actually I did." So basically, I went in looking forward to a nice experience and left feeling really irritated. Sometimes when I'm passing through Westport, I stop by Westport Lobster Company. I always ask for my fish from the back...and all that I ever get is a smile and a "sure, no problem, let me get that for you." I prefer to spend money in my own town, but I'm not going back to this place and neither is my wife...We don't need to be rewarding rudeness with our hard-earned dollars.

The first bite of the zuppa gave me that unforgettable food-critic moment from Ratatouille--one taste instantly transported me back to my childhood and all the wonderful memories of enjoying Victor's cooking with my family. The clams were incredibly fresh, and the rich, flavorful sauce was perfect for soaking up with the garlic bread. Just as my mother always did, I saved some of the zuppa sauce and spooned it over my pasta. The red clam sauce was outstanding--deeply flavorful, perfectly seasoned and filled with fresh seafood. Everything tasted as though it had been prepared with genuine care and decades of experience. Having spent my own career as a Certified Executive Chef and restaurateur, I understand the work behind food of this quality. Victor and Judy delivered an exceptional meal, especially considering they had only celebrated their grand opening the day before. If this first experience is any indication of what is ahead, the new Liberal Club is going to become one of Fall River's most talked-about dining destinations. Our server was maybe overloaded as it was pretty packed. The drinks were ok. I feel like they are more of an overpriced novelty. I recommend wine instead. The food was also overpriced as well. I wish I took a picture of my salad. I got the wedge salad which was just two small pieces of lettuce which was also a quarter inedible. They charged me 30 dollars for a tiny "salad" that didn't even have all the ingredients/garnishes it was said to come with and the smallest slice of salmon I've ever seen. I was actually laughing at this. It took me all of 5 min to eat my "meal". The calamari was also soggy and imo not cooked well. The shrimp and corn fritters were sooooo good! I recommend them!

I was going to purchase the store brand soup in the deli section when I came across this new brand. There was a promo of BOGO. The price was not listed. The brand was Blount Clam Shack, all the way from the east coast to the west coast (Massachusetts to California) There were only two kinds of soup available - gumbo and New England clam chowder. Okay, why not go for the promo? It doesn't hurt to taste the soup. Drawback? The gumbo is high in sodium (2320 mg if one eats all 24 ounces [3 servings] of it at once). Thirdly, I had some of the gumbo soup with a piece of garlic French bread last night for dinner. The soup was delicious and tasty. This afternoon I had another serving of the soup for lunch. The seasonings must have settled in the soup because it tasted better as leftover. The clam chowder soup is even higher in sodium, so I will put it aside for a few days before eating it.
