Enjoyed a farewell dinner at the Terrace!! I love the view from this restaurant and they have great appetizers and entrees. We arrived at opening which is 5PM. Ordered drinks from Anthony who was a cool bartender!! We were a party of ten or so and was ready for adult beverages on a Friday evening after a long work week. Victoria was our server and she did an amazing job managing our party!! We started with appetizers . . . Lamb sliders, spring rolls, pimento cheese balls, shrimp and a charcuterie board . . . Yum yum!! For entrees most people ordered either the filet, the salmon or the salad. All very well made dishes . . . Everyone seemed to enjoy!! Don't get me wrong, I love the Terrace Grill but on New Year's Eve , I had the worst experience . I do not know if it was over booked or short staffed but I've never been so disappointed. I dined -in with two of my friends and did the 3 course NYE menu . My first plate was the crab cakes with corn, the crab cakes and corn was room temperature. It wasn't fresh at all. My entree I ordered was the Filet Mignon with Lobster. My steak wasn't cooked at the right temperature. After-that, they ended up taking it back and accidental gave me someone else's plate. I wasn't happy with my dessert either . The strawberry crepe seem to be undercooked as well. I did enjoy my cocktail, I always order the upside down cake martini and it was delicious. read more

Great view, otherwise mediocre at best. Food was deeply underwhelming. It was fine but just fine and in some cases less so. I had the salad with salmon. The salmon was fine but the salad had tired wilted arugula and canned mandarin oranges that were so past their prime that they had that disturbing tingle in the mouth. My friend had the beef sliders and she said they would be better as racquetballs. Another friend had the herb chicken and liked it. My other friend had the "homemade" spring rolls. She said they were dry and hard. Nobody at the table bothered to finish them. Shrimp dish wasn't bad, and the spinach artichoke dip was tasty. You can eat a great meal and watch the sunset over the MIGHT MISSISSIPPI RIVER! Nice! We had a wonderful time. Nice vibe. Enjoyed the crowd and food was delicious. We had the steak. This bar/restaurant is located on the 4th floor of the River Inn hotel. We went at night and it had a nice dimly lit night vibe with a nice view of the river and Memphis bridge. Our waitress was very attentive and nice. The lamb sliders were not the greatest but pretty tasty. They give you two so if you have a big appetite, you may want to get more food. I got the fries with it and was still hungry afterward. The truffle aioli was flames and I kept asking for more since they only give you a very small amount initially. The beef sliders were pretty good also, nothing special. The buns had a slightly sweet taste which I liked. The shrimp was solid too. Not writing home about it but would get it again. I was highly disappointed on my recent visit. Service was very slow. We ordered a spinach dip and cheese and charcuterie. Spinach dip tasted bad and our charcuterie board was simply a few slices of cheese and 3 grilled sausages. When our server brought it to the table, there was no sausage. When we asked, her response was "oh, I took it before it was ready." She returned with the 3 sausages on a small plate. The cheese still had paper on the bottom and the sausages were crunchy and hard. Our silverware sets were dirty-not just water marks but dried food on them. When we asked for the bill, our server did not even acknowledge that we barely touched the food nor did she check to see if everything tasted okay. 2 bites or 2 minutes rule was not used. The Terrace is a wonderful spot on Mud Island for drinks and small bites before dinner. We have been on several occasions and they have never disappointed. The staff is very friendly and attentive (here's looking at you, Nick!) and the views in the evening of the Mississippi are spot on. The fried pimento cheese balls are one of the best fried appetizers I have had. Lamb sliders, mojo shrimp, fries and salads are some of the other plates we have tried, each highly recommended. Good selection of house cocktails offered. Don't go looking for a full dinner as the large plates only consist of filet and salmon, but it is the perfect spot to hit up before a night out. read more

We actually had a good time here. We rented this place out for a birthday party. The view was absolutely amazing and things turned out pretty well. I'd be tempted to give the experience 4 stars BUT there were too many little problems. The worst was the horrible bartender/server. Face all balled up. Hitting on my niece instead of serving drinks like he should've been doing. Destroyed our cake in an attempt to slice it. Spilled beer on me as they frantically tried to clear out the room, etc... The other bad part was when we were trying to settle the bill. I think I waited a full 30 minutes for them to figure out something... I dunno what? @TerraceMemphis is without a doubt, my new favorite place in Memphis!! I was a fan of the Madison rooftop...until they started charging cover and not protecting their visitors from the elements (no shade or heat....whhhhaaaat?!). So when I heard about Terrace at the River Inn, I thought hmmmm gorgeous river view and cocktails...need to get myself there ASAP! And indeed I did. Indeed I did. I have only been there twice but I am bound to defend my Duchess title with at least 30 check-ins in the future. The first time I went it was still nice outside and I loved that the patio was open. But then when night fell and it got a bit chilly, they closed the windows to create an "inside" environment. Love! And the second time it was just closed in the entire time (it should be noted that I had called the Madison rooftop but they were closed due to the weather). We were nice and toasty even though it felt like we were outside (the walls are ceiling-to-floor windows). And they have a really cool grass wall keeping with the outdoorsy theme. OK so the Madison has a teensy bit of a better view of the river but the food (their cheese plate - swoon), cocktails (realllllllly yummy), service, adorable view overlooking Harbor Town makes the Terrace at River Inn win hands down ten times over in comparison. Girls night, date night, drinks with my mom, celebrations...pretty much any occasion is perfect for this place. FYI, they don't take reservations. First come, first serve. read more

Enjoyed happy hour at The Terrace on a summer evening with my parents. Happy hour is from 5-6 PM. Select cocktails are $6 each and half priced appetizers. We all ordered the River Rum Punch, yummy and colorful! We then made dinner out of the appetizer menu. We each ordered the sliders - fantastic! They came with two sliders a person, and were surprising filling. We had two orders of fry's - perfectly cooked and plentiful served with mayo and ketchup. We recently moved from Collierville to Mud Island and have been exploring area restaurants. After reading the reviews for this place I decided to give it a try and wow! The afternoon was beautiful; windows were open and the view was spectacular! The menu is more of an appetizer/small plate menu but everything looked so good. I watched the cheese plate go out and I know what I'm getting next visit but this visit I decided to try the lamb sliders and their hand cut fries...outstanding! I ordered the cheese plate and a glass of the Cab. The cheese plate was not the best I have ever had but it was ok. The views will not disappoint and not a bad seat in the house. There appeared to be ample parking behind the Inn if you might be concerned about parking on Harbor Town. Staff was attentive and engaging, though our salad never came out. Our filet entree was perfectly cooked and very tender. Great value at $26. The Terrace has the view, the atmosphere, the drinks and the appetizers selection nailed down but if you're looking for dinner just realize this is set up much more like tapas. There were only 2 entrées on the entire menu. My order: Fried Pimento Cheese - This may be a little biased as a cheese lover but these were amazing. The hot sauce served with them was a perfect compliment. My only complaint was I wish there were more then 4! Chicken Satay - these were basically 4 very small pieces of chicken grilled on skewers. Grilled to the point of dry actually and I could barely get them off the skewer! I read another reviewer mention the same and now I know why. This felt like an afterthought addition to the small plate menu. Wouldn't recommend. Bottom line...if you're looking for somewhere to sit and have drinks over a few small eats and a great view this place is for you. If you want dinner, this probably isn't for you. read more

I loved this place! I met some girls for the Champagne Thursday and we had such fun trying all the different champagnes and small plates. The massive windows were open to the gorgeous river view and sunset. The neat thing is if it rains the windows are closed and you can watch a storm on the river from a great vantage point. We saw other reviews and were excited to come here. The service was the worst we'd had maybe ever - being honest, not dramatic. The problem with that is this place is top dollar, so service should be up to par. We had the shrimp, it was good. We had the filets, both ordered medium, they were cooked completely differently (one was medium rare, one was a little above medium). The "roasted" potatoes were black charred on half, where they "roasted" too long. The filet also says 6oz but we were both shocked at the $29 price tag for a very small - but good - piece of meat. They were out of the desert I wanted, and they are way overpriced on bourbon. Cute atmosphere, food was decent, but the service and food falls far under what our tab was. read more

This place was just okay. Nothing special. The cocktails weren't terribly expensive, but they certainly take their time bring out your food so you feel forced to order another drink. The small plates we ordered are - beef sliders, artichoke dip, and calamari. Beef sliders were great, only comes with two which I wish I had known. But beef is good and bread is so good. Artichoke dip was average. Not bad, not great. It definitely dried up at the end but the pita bread that came with it was delightful. Calamari was awful. So bad. It is basically calamari chips because they over fried the calamari sooo much it was crunch and dry my entire mouth. They also way OVER pepper the calamari that your basically eating dry, crunchy pepper chips. I got the whiskey and the Moscow mule. Both good. Both generous with their alcohol. Waitress was nice. Came and checked in but I did have to ask for a water refill, which I'm personally just used to waiters filling it up. One of the managers came around and asked if we wanted the blinds to be pulled up so we could watch the sunset. We did and it was such a beautiful view. I recommend the terrace if you're just wanting a quick drink. But if you're wanting a drink and food just go somewhere else. read more
