After told we would have to wait an hour, a table was ready in 20 minutes. We ordered the quinoa fritters which were excellent, the grilled cheese and the harvest bowl. The grilled cheese was so tasty, a little heavy but if you're ready for that, go for it. Was tart and buttery. The harvest bowl was great, delicious seasonal vegetables in there but maybe could've been a little more flavorful overall. The potted bread was definitely a star paired with an interesting scallion corn butter? Was hoping for another flavor but still interesting. Great coffee too. Overall, a fantastic spot! read more

The cafe is inside the Terrain retail space- so make sure you put your name down first and then shop. They'll txt you when your table is ready. We waited 30 minutes and waited :30 after shopping. We were seated outside in the terrace area- only downside was we were at a picnic table. So for anyone with a bad back, that's a watch out. Lucky for us, we didn't care. They had traditional tables and chairs too. Menu selection ranges from traditional sandwiches to breakfast. All seem to be yummy. Our waiter was quite friendly and there was a bus person and another person who was quite attentive. We both got the smoked salmon toast which was very yummy and we also had the bread- served in a terracotta planter with tomato garlic butter. It's a nice experience. While we did wait for the table, we certainly didn't feel rushed. All waitstaff was wearing face masks. Nice experience. read more

First of all, five (six if I could) stars for location, location, location. The ambiance of this restaurant is just sublime. It's a unique experience dining in the middle of a garden store. You get a different feel in this restaurant compared to others. The coffee bar looks warm and inviting, and yes, their coffees are delish (although a bit pricey - but this is Westport, so...). The food is fresh and lovely. I adore the bread served (baked in?) in a terracotta flower pot. And they serve a delicious butter of the day. This one was chocolate with sea salt. So yummy! Minus one star for over-cooked poached eggs - my biggest brunch pet peeve. I also find some of the staff here a bit aloof and unconcerned with offering another beverage or checking in on you - even when it wasn't too busy. Definitely want to try dinner here! read more

The restaurant is beautiful and it has a lovely store adjacent to it! The service was excellent and really kind. I felt very welcomed. I had the shakshuka which is a dish I love and it was very underwhelming about 95 percent of it was liquid and not nearly enough sourdough to help you soak that sauce up. It also made me have awful stomach issues and I would absolutely recommend against this dish at this restaurant. However I saw a lot of their other dishes with my party and they looked delicious and were as I tried so I do believe I just picked a bad menu item but still not reassuring. read more

The menu keeps getting better and better. And even in the days of the Covid plan, it is still beyond excellent. There are so many healthy, freshly, inventive choices you can barely decide what to order. Plus, the drink list is well thought out abs curated. They immediately bring you bread in a bowl, which I suppose would allow you to order a drink and have time to figure out what to order (referring to current health trustee orders), so kudos to Terrain for not pushing their customers. Honestly, each abs every food dish is excellent. I forgot how good it was and will be back very very soon to try more - a cauliflower steak burger - how awesome is that?! read more

I was a little worried to come here considering you need a reservation even on a random weekday in the middle of the day but when my friend called, they said they could squeeze us in. Every table was filled but the service was good and the ambiance is great!! They have a really nice fresh, seasonal and veggie forward menu. I had the shrimp and grits and it was very good! The presentation was also fabulous. Will be back to try more dishes but probably not on a weekend considering how busy it was on a weekday. Consider strolling through the store post meal, there is so much to see! read more

This is the cafe you go to before wandering around the shop and searching for lots of plants and vases you don't need. I won't lie though, this place is the cutest. They serve warm bread in a little plant pot for god sakes! I was sold. Their coffee drinks are also incredibly good. We had the blueberry oat milk latte and the iced blackberry latte. Both were delicious. As for the food, just okay. The smoked salmon toast was just okay. They use a really low grade salmon. I really wish they used gravlax or wild salmon because then this would be great. The mushroom frittata was extremely overcooked and sadly just very boring and we hardly ate it. The best part of the meal was the little free bread and the fries we ordered. Honestly even the fries were crispy. I will probably come back only because I love "shopping" here BUT I will probably get some coffee and stick to something light instead of getting any of the actual brunch items. read more

This is based solely on service. The food might be awesome. But we waited 20 minutes for someone to bring water. And there were three people working at the time talking at the end of the bar the entire time we were seated...I went up to the bar and asked if we had a server- they went to get her. She poured our water and then left- didn't say she'd be back or asked if we wanted to get an order in. So we waited some more and left to get food someplace. As we were getting up the server came over and was shocked - we told her why and she just said "oh my god" - as in she was put out by our leaving. That said- it is an absolutely beautiful place, lovely ambience. But I can't imagine this is how they usually run their business. It was a Monday night and we were the only people inside the dining room. But it wasn't a pleasant experience for trying to have dinner. read more

This place is truly one of the most amazing places I've been to! I love that it is a botanical café as well as an elegant and stunning garden shop. We wanted the full experience so we dined first. We were seated at a lovely table in an open, greenhouse-like room. Beautiful, open, airy, green plants and rattan basket chandeliers adorned the area. We ordered smoked salmon toast and a breakfast board. While we waited for our order, they brought our fresh baked bread in a terracotta pot and house made chocolate whipped butter. It was absolutely delicious! The smoked salmon toast was so delicious! Crusty toast, delicate crème fraîche, robust smoked salmon, topped with roasted beets, fresh dill...... OMG. It was so good that I will be trying to recreate it at home! We are still talking about it. Our breakfast board was perfect as well. It featured all the essential components of a traditional breakfast such as scrambled eggs, sausage bacon, roasted potatoes, and included fresh greens on the side. Although the ingredients sound ordinary there was nothing ordinary about this board. The sausage was beautifully roasted and had delicious flavor, the bacon was thick slab and perfectly crisped, the scrambled eggs were delicate and light, and the greens on the side were lightly dressed and so bright in flavor. Our coffees were perfect too!! I loved my iced latte and my husband enjoyed his hot coffee as well. A stellar meal in an esthetically pleasing atmosphere. After our meal, we moved on to walk around and explore the shop. The sights are plentiful. There are gorgeous plant displays, gentle waterfalls, and extraordinary home decor items everywhere you look. There are unique plants and terrariums, dish ware, and many books and gift items. So much to explore at Terrain and so much to enjoy seeing. I smiled the entire time. I will certainly return and I recommend this beautiful place to anyone who would like a peaceful, nourishing meal, with a visually pleasing stroll. Food - Went for brunch, you get bread served in plant pot which was unique and came with lemon poppy seed butter which was great. For Appetizers had quinoa fritters which were great similar to a falafel, cheese plate which was excellent (had some of the best honey and jam I've ever had in it), Main corse was short rib with egg that came with potatoes. The short rib was excellent and pair nicely with the poached egg. Was also able to try wild mushroom frittata which was okay. Drinks were amazing, had Bloody Mary as was the ice lavender white chocolate mocha. Service - Service was a bit on the slow side but place was also packed which may have contributed. Serves were generally friendly and attentive when needed. Ambiance - the place really shined in this department with its decor and atmosphere. Rustic design and being surrounded by plants as the place also doubles as nursery and home/garden shop which I stopped in after eating. I've been eating at Terrain cafe for years and have really enjoyed it in the past. My family and I went for brunch on Sunday and we were all very disappointed. First, our server was inattentive. He brought my husband's coffee without any cream or sugar. When we finally got his attention, he came back with cream and sugar but my husband's coffee was cold. My Father ordered a second cappuccino and it took over 30 minutes to arrive. All of our entrees (avocado toast, harvest bowl, shrimp and grits, terrain breakfast) tasted bland or just not up to the usual standards. Also, Terrain used to have several vegan options on the menu. Now, they only have one. I'm not sure if the chef has changed but something has certainly changed. We were so disappointed as this was a family brunch. We won't be going back any time soon. There are many more and better options in Westport. read more

So very disappointed with Terrain. Arrived for a special brunch celebration. Ordered a mushroom fritatta and a chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie had weird purple meat that didn't look like any chicken we know - more like a body part or an alien. It was not good. The mushroom frittata - rubber eggs like a dunkin donuts or something. Not a mushroom in sight! Not one. And totally cold potatoes on the side. When questioned I was told they ran out of mushrooms and had a communication issue. Not charged for the rubber egg, whoop de doo. It was not a good experience, nor did it seem like this was an out of the ordinary chaotic day. The three hostesses were confused on our arrival, and it just got worse from there. What a shame - it was always so lovely. I rarely write about negative stuff having owned a restaurant, but this was so off and so poorly addressed when we complained, it stuck with me. read more

I have loved shopping at Terrain, but this time I got to stop by the cafe too. The cafe is so trendy and beautiful. I was struggling with the menu because there were so many amazing options to choose from. I decided to go with Blood Orange Prosecco Smash for my drink, it was perfect! Not too sweet, not too dry, just perfect and so pretty too. For my meal, I went with the Fried Avocado Benedict. Such a unique and delicious dish. For the side we went with truffle fries, they were fine. I love a strong truffle taste and I didn't really get that from these. They were still tastey, just lacks a strong truffle flavor. For dessert, we shared the chocolate terrarium. This dessert was unlike any dessert I've had. Such an amazing decadent treat. The texture is amazing and the matcha flavor with the chocolate is perfection. Couldn't recommend this place enough, perfect brunch spot! read more

I do love the store and have had a decent breakfast there before but tonight's dinner was awful. Once we were seated it took a while before the waiter came to our table. I get it that it was busy so is what it is but we each ordered chicken pot pie and it was awful. The crust on top was hard as a plate, the vegetables were crunchy. It was soupy and was actually cold inside. There was one edge that was hot and the rest was cold. The waiter never returned to our table to check us on us so we just ate what we could and left. I absolutely love the store (even though it's overpriced), and the restaurant didn't disappoint. The menu was full of garden fresh, unusual combinations that were all enticing. I'm terrible at taking photos of my food because I always just want to eat it! Sorry about that. The service is a little slow, but I think it's somewhat intentional so that you can take your time and relax. The first thing they brought us was a little terracotta flower pot with a loaf of bread baked in it, along with a little compote of chocolate whipped butter. It was soooo good. My friend and I both ordered egg dishes and they were both delicious. I don't think you can go wrong here. Everything is good. The prices are reasonable for this kind of restaurant and they are fairly generous. We didn't leave hungry. We tried their chocolate ice cream for dessert and it was wonderful- tasted like fudgesicles. My favorite ice cream here is the chocolate mint- it's made with fresh mint leaves and is to die for. Unfortunately they didn't have that flavor today. This restaurant is full of ladies lunching and it has a vibrant, yet chic vibe. It's noisy without being so loud you have to shout. The menu is small but hits all the high notes with eggs, avocado toast, a grain bowl, a burger, etc. I ordered the grain bowl and added bacon. I really liked it particularly the tahini dressing. My friend ordered the avocado toast which was a generous serving of avocado. Her daughter got a children's bacon and eggs and was very happy. The service was friendly and prompt. The only thing we ordered that was odd was a 1/2 iced coffee and 1/2 lemonade. Really busy place and I can see why. I cannot say enough good things about Terrain!! Had the BEST time here to celebrate my birthday last weekend. Everything from the food to the atmosphere to the service was incredible! We started with the iconic flower pot bread and it did not disappoint the lemon and turmeric butter was incredible. I got the avocado toast with an egg and dare I say this was the best avocado toast I've ever had. They put peas on it which was so interesting but literally so yummy it added the perfect crunch! The drink was also fantastic light and sweet. They also had the cutest indoor and outdoor garden shop which was so cool to walk around. This has been one of my favorite restaurants I've visited this year so far. I had high expectations for this place after finding out about them and they were exceeded in every way. Came here for lunch for Presidents' Day! I had never been but had heard lots of good things so wanted to go check it out for myself. When we got there we managed to snag a parking, but my friends had a difficult time parking and had to circle for almost 10 minutes. Not sure how to avoid this but I guess they used to have a valet which might be worthwhile to bring back. We were seated right away and had a super attentive waiter. I definitely recommend making a reservation if it's a weekend or holiday as it was very crowded. Lots of families and very loud. We started of with some drinks and then got the bread which comes baked in a flower pot!!! So cool and yummy! I ordered the avocado toast which was delicious! We also ordered the French fries which were great as well. Overall very impressed with the food and for how busy they where it came out in no time. After eating we then walked around the store and did some shopping! Which is such a fun concept. I definitely recommend going here especially if you can avoid going on a busy day. read more

The cafe is absolutely adorable and the staff were really great. The bread in the flowerpot was the cutest thing I've seen, and the flavored butter was delicious. I wish I could give Terrain more than 5 stars for the ambiance alone, so so happy to have discovered this gem! We came in here for dinner with a large-ish group on a Thursday but I had made a reservation in advance so there was no issue getting seated. Got to take a little walk around the shop before they closed at 7:00pm and then enjoyed an awesome dinner afterwards. We started out with a cheeseboard for the table along with two orders of Crispy Chickpeas. Both are great apps, the chickpeas are definitely a very unique dish. And of course the bread in a flower pot is pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen, not to mention the bread being delicious. The butter is great here too, apparently they have a different type of butter every day. For my main course, I got the Roasted Chicken Breast (with cardamom spiced farro, green tomato harissa, pickled radish, fresh garbanzo). The dish was not only photogenic but super fresh and healthy. The only issue I had with it is that I found the flavors to be a bit bland, it could definitely use some more seasoning. read more
