    Beer Battered Onion Rings
    Matthew U.

When I first moved to the area to my apartment down the road from here this spot sat dormant. There was a sign on the door that this would reopen eventually, but with no clear date as to when it would reopen. Recently, while in this plaza I noticed that it was finally back open and I had made a mental note to give it a try. With as much as I frequent this plaza I knew it would happen sooner or later. Well, it finally happened. I had come to go to the stores and decided I would have an early lunch. I showed up shortly after they opened for the day and ventured in. This is your typical sports bar in a college town. High and low tables fill the floorspace with a bar as well for seating. Sports items for Maryland kind of dot the walls in between the many televisions that have on various sporting events. I am assuming a great place to catch a game when you have that urge. Walked in and was greeted right away. Taken to a table and had a menu in hand. Within seconds my server was there to take my drink order. I had to ask what they offered as I did not see it on the menu or had time to glance it over before the quick service. After hearing what was offered I went with a Dr. Pepper and then started browsing the menu. My server returned to inform me they were out of Dr. Pepper. I then went with a Sprite and a glass of water. I had also decided to order an appetizer and went with the onion rings Beer Battered Onion Rings. Server was off again and I was able to take in the rest of the menu. I went over this several times and finally decided on an item. I went with their Turkey Burger and just kind of sat there taking in the space until the onion rings showed up. When the onion rings arrived at the table I was surprised by the size of them. Bigger is better and these were quite possibly the biggest onion rings I have ever gotten. It basically looked like the cut the onion in half, removed the ends and left them at that size. They were hefty, but so damned tasty. They were fresh upon arrival and I wanted to dive in without burning my hands. I tried the knife and fork route here, but that just hindered eating them. They come served with ketchup and their house-made rosemary garlic aioli. At first I had no idea what the aioli was and just liked it, I had to go back to the menu to see what was in it. After downing a few onion rings my turkey burger arrived. The burger looked massive. With it being eight ounces there was a perfect meat to bun ratio going on. This thing is topped with arugula, mozzarella, tomato, and their pesto aioli. The flavors melded together just fine, but if you tasted the meat by itself, it was kind of bland. Juicy, but lacking flavor in my opinion. But, when paired with the mozzarella and aioli, the flavor was right there. Fries, however, were lacking. Your basic frozen fry, looking like the ones you can get at Denny's. I overestimated when I ordered and had to ask for a to-go box for what remained of my meal. I can see this place being a go-to spot when I'm in this plaza and am looking for a sit down meal.

I first tried Terrapin Station as a part of a Yelp event but have been back with my daughter three times now. On our first visit, my daughter fell in love. She loves the set up, food, and even has a favorite waitress. I've experienced their happy hour deals and tried a few items on the menu. My favorite item is the Terrapin Burger and I liked their wings. My daughter loves the burgers too. The Inside is decorated like a traditional sports bar but it has a family friendly atmosphere. I have always gotten great service when visiting and I will definitely return.

What a great "neighborhood bar/restaurant ". Great selection of food. Pleasant/friendly/efficient waitress. We got appetizers, side salads, and burgers. All were very flavorful and delicious. The side salads were HUGE and fresh. PRETZELS AND BEER CHEESE is a must have. Various burgers were all spot on. Oh and make sure you leave some room for dessert. Omg! FRIED OREOS W/ VANILLA ICE CREAM to die for. Definitely will be back again.

Great causal dinner spot! We stopped in for a weeknight dinner after a Costco Run. I ordered the classic burger with a Caesar salad and deviled eggs as our appetizer. All of the food was delicious. The burgers are the star items, but the deviled eggs have crab and old bay so definitely get them. I was also pleasantly surprised by the salad, I loved the dressing and big chunks of cheese. Our server was friendly but they seemed a little busy, maybe a little short staffed. We received the appetizer after the entrees, and we didn't get a water refill until almost the end of the meal. We were not in a rush or anything so not a big deal, I'll certainly be back!

We've been living in the area for years and I've been shopping in this shopping center since moving here. We finally decided to try this place out and I'M SO GLAD WE DID!!! The customer service was friendly and helpful. The establishment was clean and atmosphere was nice. The food was delicious. I had the Steak and Cheese with Onion Rings and a side of Calamari. My husband had the Bacon Cheddar Burger with Fries. We will be back in the near future. I recommend. *Husband's food not pictured*

I went to the restaurant the other night for a Yelp Event. I decided to go back again for lunch because the food from the event was good. I ordered a Turkey Burger with fries. Both were good. The sauce that comes on the burger was ok. I got the sauce on the side. The service was good. I ordered my food over the phone. When I got there, it was ready. The inside of the place is very nice. It's like a sports bar and restaurant. It have UMD decorations. They also have tvs and a bar.

We ended up going 3 nights in a row while visiting from TN! Great service! Great food! Calamari, onion rings, crab cake sandwich and bison burger were all delicious! Highly recommended!

These burgers are the real deal. We asked before we ordered whether they were hand formed or from patties, the server looked at us like it was an insult. Three different cuts of meat (I don't remember what), but you taste the quality. Hubby and I got a Terrapin Burger and The Dip (which is a burger, not a French dip sandwich). So good. It is giving our favorite burger spot (also local) a run for the money. The fries were really good too. The onion rings were not our favorite- fried hard - so we'll pass on those next time, and there will be a next time.

On our way home and decided to try out this new spot. The food was delicious!! Service was friendly and quick. We tried their deviled eggs which were great! We devoured them before I remembered to take a picture. For our meals, we ordered the Chicken and Cheese which is their version of the Philly chicken cheesesteak. It was really good!! We also had the Terrapin Burger which was their mushroom Swiss burger. Also delicious. Fries are super crispy.. all in all great experience. Will definitely be back.

When I saw that the late lamented Hard Times had been replaced by a place with a similar menu, I had to try it out. TL;DR I was underwhelmed. The only notable change to the interior was the absence of the jukebox. The alarms I heard going off turned out to be automated cookers. I ordered the Classic burger ($17). The taste of the curated beef did not impress me, and it was definitely cooked beyond the requested medium rare. The toppings didn't add much to the flavor. And you have to ask if you want lettuce and tomato. Obviously, they are not parrotheads, even though they got the Heinz 57 right. My expectations for the fries might have been set too high by just having watched America's Test Kitchen make a batch, but these did not impress. Crisp but not browned, little flavor. Maybe they need to check the settings on that robot? Courteous service, clean restrooms, lots of TV screens. Food needs work. I can get a better burger for the money. Just OK.

Although the space is on the smaller side, there was plenty of bar seating, an ample number of booths and the drink prices were a good deal. If I lived a little closer, I could see myself dropping by much more frequently. T he only downside that felt apparent to everyone I came here with, was the strong smell of fried fish. I personally wasn't too phased, assuming it as part of their menu. But the longer we settled in we realized it was coming in from an adjacent business which is incredible hard to control. With that being said, we smelled like fried fish when we got into my friends car and the smell followed us everywhere for the rest of the night. Like I said, I understand that's a hard thing to control but it may be something to be mindful of if you've got anywhere you need to go after. Overall though, totally in love with the laid back vibes here and would definitely return.

At first, you'll see what looks like just a pizza shop -- but if you head in and either use the side door or walk through and climb a set of stairs, you'll find the speakeasy upstairs. Very cool vibe: dark, cozy, and date-night ready. Drinks: 4/5 I ordered their take on an Old Fashioned, and it was definitely the highlight of the night but sweeter than I would have liked. They served it over a stamped solid block of ice (a small detail I ). My friend was abstaining from alcohol that night and asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail. To our surprise, they didn't just hand her a lemonade like most places -- they actually made her a crafted virgin drink, which she loved. Food: 3/5 We ordered fries and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The fries turned out to be waffle fries (not mentioned on the menu) and were overly crispy, so not really our favorite. The pizza was fine -- clearly sourced from the shop downstairs -- but it leaned oily and didn't really wow us. Service: 5/5 Pretty standard -- nothing over the top, but not neglectful either. Drinks came out reasonably fast, food followed, and we were checked on enough without it feeling pushy. Vibes: 4/5 The speakeasy itself is definitely the selling point. Dark, intimate, and stylish -- you feel like you've found a little hidden spot. All in all, the cocktails are the reason to come, especially if you're into whiskey. The food was forgettable, but it's convenient that you can order pizza upstairs. We spent about $30-40 for drinks and snacks, which isn't shocking for Old Town. Would I go back? Maybe if I was already in the area, but for a dedicated whiskey night, I'd probably head somewhere else.

My group of 5 enjoyed a variety of their drinks and dishes, sharing 3 appetizers, enjoying 5 entrees, and indulging in two of their desserts. I started off with an alcoholic Mai Thai. Food wise, I had their grilled oysters, brussel Cesar, fried chicken curry dish, trifle dessert, and sorbet. As a non-seafood person, it was a big deal for me to try their oysters. I started slow with just their grilled oysters. They were drowning in garlic and butter, so it was hard not to like. The Brussel cesar was also a solid shareable. I appreciated that the salad did not come drenched in dressing. The curry friend chicken was phenomenal! The chicken fell of the bone so easily and was so crispy, moist, and overall outstanding. The curry and impossible rice paired perfectly with it. Finally, the desserts! I could have eaten two of the trifle dessert...it was smooth, creamy, and the perfect amount of sweet. It was everyone's favorite between the two. The sorbet was good, but I found the white chocolate a little weird/awkward since it was sitting around a bunch of cold sorbet...didn't melt or mesh well with the dish. It wasn't bad, but I'd try something else next time. Overall, I loved this place. The vibes, staff, and food were amazing. I can't wait to introduce more friends to this gem.

The menu has shrunk significantly and what's left doesn't justify the price point. $20 for deviled eggs? We were told about off-menu options tomahawk, ribeye (out of stock), and branzino. We went with the branzino and a potato hash that turned out to be exactly what it sounds like: cut up potatoes and what tasted like powdered eggs straight from a hotel breakfast buffet. The branzino needed salt, pepper AND hot sauce to get there, that's not a seasoning preference.. The ambience and decor remain the highlight genuinely a beautiful space.
