A hidden gem located in the beautiful town of Ridgefield, CT. This is a beautiful date night spot with romantic dim lighting, a fire burning in the oven in the main dining room and the soft instrumental tunes of Italian music. The menu is very interesting with a whole page dedicated to seafood and specialty Sushi. The rest of the menu is dedicated to specialty meats (venison & boar) and pastas. What really drew me to the restaurant was the Cacio e Pepe prepared with the aged cheese wheel table side. So delicious! One thing to note is that prices were a bit on the high end side, reflective of the upscale nature of the restaurant. I went to terra sole with friends thinking it was an upscale restaurant,well , we were shocked on how horrible the food was ,it was probably the worst food I've ever life. The only thing that was good there was the service and the drinks and on top of the food being lousy the bill was ridiculous. We were six people total and the bill came out to almost $1000 and that wasn't including the tip. I don't mind paying a lot as long as the food is good, but this food was so lousy. I couldn't even eat it. If you're going to charge high prices, you need to get a new chef terra sole. read more

Wow what a disappointment! We went out to dinner for my husband's birthday and I am thoroughly embarrassed that his birthday dinner was that bad. Such a shame because we have eaten here in the past and loved it, but will certainly not be returning after tonight. The bread was so stale, the eggplant parm couldn't even be cut in half with a knife and our dinners were no better. They should not brag about making their own breads in house when even the burger bun was stale and dry. read more

We were very impressed by our meal at TerraSole! The experience was truly a 10/10, from the presentations, to the flavors, and to the attentive staff. My husband and I sat on their heated enclosed patio and absolutely loved the vibe. The other dining areas were exceptionally beautiful as well. While the menu features mostly Italian food, we found it cool that they had Crudo and sushi options as well. We started with the Sicilian arancini, crispy rice tasting, two pieces of nigiri, and refreshing panzanella toscana. All were excellent, and we enjoyed the variety of complimentary freshly baked bread. The cacio e Pepe made in a cheese wheel was a show stopper, and I liked that I could add in truffle oil. My husband's New York strip was also fantastic, and they even used some of the fire from my cheese wheel pasta to give his steak an extra sizzle. We decided to go for dinner at the last minute and went to Terra Sole which we had not eaten at for quite a while. The service was amazing and our waiter could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious and portions were so plentiful that we took home leftovers. The caesar salad was one of the best we've ever eaten. Our pasta dishes, I ordered the lasagna and my husband the fettuccine, were obviously prepared fresh and the ingredients of the highest quality. Really disappointing. For a restaurant that's charging that much for a pasta dish- it was barely room temperature and pizza was mediocre. The waitstaff hovered over us, were rushing us and making the entire overpriced experience uncomfortable. We said we would sit at the empty bar however they insisted they could "make us work" at a table. They stood over us, made the "table side" pasta in the corner- we didn't even know it was happening. The money of 20-30 cocktails is unnecessary and could easily be enjoyed elsewhere. read more

I used to love TerraSole. My go-to place. However last Sunday evening I stopped by on my way home after a long flight and drive into Newark airport. I was looking forward to a simple and easy meal outside. The service was slow and the food was awful. My husband ordered the shrimp and polenta then asked to substitute polenta for pasta. Got charged for a full order of pasta. My Marguerita pizza tasted like a frozen John's Best Pizza. Maybe because it was a Sunday night? Well, my mind was blown when I saw that they recently increased the price of one particular entree from $60 to $100 overnight. It was my favorite entree, and I don't plan to go back for it anytime soon. Can I afford it? Of course. I've spent more than that on an entree at TerraSole. This is my second time here, and they did not disappoint. The food here is just done well. The squash blossom filling was creamy, and light, and was our favorite in the meal. The blue points were divine -- I feel they were served a little too cold, but still pretty close to perfect. The frito misto was great, but I had a hard time finding the scallops. This was my second time to order this dish, and I will order it again when I come back. The vongole was the least impressive -- the clams were over cooked and gritty/sandy, and I love Al dente but the pasta was a tad undercooked so it didn't absorb any of the sauce. We also had the wagyu burger with truffle fries (as in they shave black truffles on it). No picture, because we were busy eating I love the outdoor seating. They have heated lamps, and blankets behind each chair. The service is exceptional. We will be back. read more

I hosted a work function at TerraSole the other night and they were the best!!! Scott took SUCH good care of us and made the night feel really special. The food is PHENOMENAL!!! There were 20 of us and we ordered everything from cavatelli to 40 oz bone-in ribeye steaks and the silence during the main course was proof of how good the food was. Can't recommend this place enough, from the food, drinks, overall ambiance and hospitality from EVERYONE there. We left with not one complaint. Starting with the menu, so many options to choose from, but don't be overwhelmed because they do everything amazing. We started with some of their craft cocktails made by their super friendly and knowledgeable bartender Cody. The drinks were outstanding and presented beautifully. Our server Steve was awesome and answered all of our questions and offered his take on all the food we were interested in which helped us immensely with what we ultimately decided to order and boy were we happy with his suggestions. We did the Melanzane di Ricotta and also the lobster crispy rice to start. The melanzane di ricotta was crispy with a beautiful whipped fluffy ricotta inside.the lobster was fresh and delicious with great taste mixed with the dynamite sauce and jalapeño. For our main course we went with the wagyu steak, lobster tail and whipped potato's. Again the lobster was fantastic. The wagyu steak was cooked perfectly in their imported from Italy wood fired pizza oven. Easily the best steak I've ever eaten. Moving onto the dessert. We went with the cheesecake and their special eggnog brule. Paired with their bourbon espresso martini and pumpkin spice martini. As we were finishing up the owners Scott and Anna stopped by to make sure everything was up to par. They were super friendly and we had a nice conversation with them about the place. We had an hour ride home and we were so stuffed we didn't want to get right back in the car and luckily it's located in a beautiful town so we took a walk around checking out the cool little stores to end the night. This is one of my fav places... Tip: get on the mailing list! Received an email about the specials - they had me at TRUFFLES! Followed by Zucchini flowers!!! And pasta they make the giant/ parm cheese rind at your table. Omg! So we went to try and we were thrilled! We were seated at a. outside table (tent), lovely. There are heaters, and they have blankets if you are chilled. Our party had apps: meatballs with polenta (def ask for / get the polenta) and zucchini flowers. The filling on the flowers was a light ricotta and squash purée. They might be the best zucchini flowers I have had the pleasure of trying. For dinner our group had: bolognese, black linguini with seafood, and the pasta in the Parmesan rind. It was great to see for the first time in person. Of course I added the truffles to my pasta. One note: when they shaved the truffle, I expected very thin slices. Not sure what happened, and it was more like many small pieces. The flavor was wonderful (just different serving of the truffle than I have seen elsewhere.) As if that wasn't enough we had dessert. The gelato and special creme brûlée - omg. So good. If I could give it more stars I would. I have eaten around the Americas and Europe at some of the world s finest restaurants. This is among the best. White glove, attentive friendly service. Lovely live piano. Superior shellfish and fresh seafood. An Italian sushi bar . Who knew. That being said it was not cheap. I have no problem paying for a good meal, but truth be told it is worth it. The only comparable establishment in the area would be Thomas Hinklemann in Greenwich. My top five meals of all time, maybe top three (I'm 66). Special occasion for sure. read more

Our cocktails were superb - the bourbon sour and the aperol & coconut margarita. Our food was delicious. Wow, was this place delicious! I attended a luncheon after a communion ceremony. The event was hosted in an outdoor attached tent. It was beautifully decorated and connected us to a bar area with a cocktail and appetizer lounge. We were served calamari, sushi, and small bites. The staff was great and served us wine and flavored mimosas as well. There was a dj and a digital photo booth where we were able to take family photos while we danced around, which was fun. We sat down and had a 3 course meal presented with options of filet of sole, chicken marsala, and pork milanese. To start was a hearty and yummy cavatelli con bolognese. I chose the filet of sole, and my daughter had the chicken marsala. Both were served with green beans and roasted potatoes. The dessert came out as a grand finale, and it was exquisite. Another special night at Terra Sole! Celebrating our daughter's last night before heading back to school we had lovely little neck clams which were Devine, cheese and burrata with fresh tomatoes. It's been awhile since I'd visited TerraSole. Who knew! They updated, renovated and have generated 5 star cooking, service and ambiance. We went as a table of 4 after a live performance. Our out of town guests are well travelled and well, kind of picky! TerraSole did not disappoint us for a minute. The Cocktails. The first courses of fresh beautifully presented seafood, crisp delicious salads. The burrata such an authentic treat!! The bread basket with all types of focaccia freshly heated. It was hard to save room for mains and dessert. The kitchen did a great job of European pacing to our meal. Kudos! But now onto Mains. Incredible hand made pastas tossed with perfectly cooked and flavored seafood. A fish course so delicious it was barely shared. A well suggested wine to accompany. Heaven on a plate... We visited during a no meat pre Holiday so our sampling of their meat menu will have to be done on another visit. Lucky us! Barely room for dessert, 4 forks and 2 desserts with real Espressos sent us out into the late night - joyful and already wanting to return. read more

Terra Sole has been a go to for us for many years. Although it always a bit pricey, the food, service and setting made it a good choice. My visit recently made me reconsider future visits. It is still pricey (even more so), but the food was a bit disappointing. Brussels sprout salad was laden with mayo lessening it flavor. First, the atmosphere felt like I was at a wedding hall in Staten Island. Really tacky. Some people may like that, but it's not my style. As for the food, my wife ordered pasta with seafood for a whopping $43! When it arrived the pasta was totally overcooked and mushy. And I'm certain the tastless limp shrimp came pre-cooked in a bag from Cysco Food Services. Is it too much to ask for al dente pasta and fresh shrimp for $43? I got a margarita pizza for $23 that was at mediocre at best. The wine poor was really skimpy. I guess they're trying to squeeze 6 glasses out of a bottle to maximize their profit. I'm sorry, but they should be ashamed of themselves charging these prices for this subpar meal. People work hard for their money and when you spend that amount you expect to get an exceptional meal. Unfortunately, that was not the case at TerraSole. I cannot emphasize enough how horrible and overpriced the meal was. Full disclosure: we usually frequent a different Italian restaurant on the second Friday of Advent. We have ended up there for five consecutive years, and over the years it's become a tradition - a favorite Christmas spot for dining after shopping for stocking stuffers. This year, despite making a reservation and arriving on time, we pulled up in front of the restaurant to discover it was closed. No text. No call. Such is 2020. My son suggested we switch things up and head over to Terra Sole this year. I share this backstory because these are the little details that start new traditions. After the marvelous, magical experience we had last night - both social and culinary - Terra Sole is and will be our new Christmas tradition. I called from the car to see if they could accommodate us and was told they had room in the tent and/or outdoors (with blankets and heaters, like a charming cafe in Ticino in wintertime). When we arrived, greeted warmly by a young hostess, we were seated in the tent, an enclosed structure that adds another 600-ish square feet to the restaurant, thereby allowing more socially distanced tables. With white twinkle lights, glowing spheres, festive wreaths and a live singer who, thank goodness, sang lovely jazz and Christmas favorites in a volume well-suited to a small area, there is no other word for this restaurant but magical. Pietro, the very warm and gracious owner of Terra Sole, stopped by to welcome us personally, assuring my 12-year-old daughter that his chef would make her favorite Rigatoni a la Vodka, even though it wasn't on the menu. I ordered a Tito's martini with goat cheese olives and warm bread wasn't far behind. My husband and I ordered the same dinner, a dish I have named "Lasagna Svizzera," for the sigh-inducing decadence of drizzling traditional fondue cheese on the top of freshly-made lasagna. People? This dish is something so unexpected, such a perfect blending of flavors, I actually closed my eyes in pleasure as I tasted, chewed and swallowed. I'm going to have dreams featuring this dish for years to come, and doubt I can ever fully enjoy lasagna or fondue again without longing for the other. Terra Sole, you saved our Christmas tradition this year. Thank you, and bravissimo on creating a dish that perfectly captured the unexpected blessings of such a turbulent year. read more
