The decor and atmosphere is sophisticated. The service was ok once we ordered, but it took 25 minutes to get our waiter to take our order. The dining room was 1/2 full so there was no excuse for it to take so long. The food was only fair. My meatball appetizer was truly awful. They were dense, and no self respecting Nona would have served them from her kitchen. The clams oreganata were undercooked, cold, and mushy. I sent them back and they were only slightly better when then came back from their time under the broiler. I then had their key lime pie for dessert which looked pretty but was it dense and just OK. My husband enjoyed his filet, but uninspired roasted potatoes accompanied it. A colorful vegetable would have relieved a very brown plate of food. Not going back, anytime soon. read more

Such a lovely place and wonderful service. The first time we went there we had a spectacular dinner. But last night there was something lacking in the food. chicken martini was overcooked and a bit rubbery and lacking flavor. Arugula salad was so so. Just a heap of arugula with a bit of raspberry. Hubby's rigatoni was fine. I so want this to be my go-to place! The price of a glass of wine is the exact price of a bottle in the wine shop! I know you need a profit but come on. The appetizer-four oversized pieces of bacon-was fantastic, and honestly, the only good thing I had all night. The main course was a disaster. For a $60 steak, it was served medium-rare despite being ordered medium, which is simply inappropriate. What's worse is the side: 'homefries.' Yes, homefries, the kind you get at a greasy diner or out of a box in the freezer aisle. It completely undermined the quality they claim to offer. Dessert offered no redemption. The brownie sundae sounded great, but when I searched for the brownie, all I found were what can only be described as stale brownie croutons. Overall, this was a highly disappointing experience that did not justify the price. read more

Good food, just don't order the ribeye. We had been there previously and enjoyed the meatballs, the rigatoni bolognese and the chicken martini. We returned a month later and had the 20 ounce ribeye. Half of it was inedible due to fat and grizzle. The steak was not seasoned enough and we both had to add salt. The arugula salad, mashed potatoes and cheesecake were the highlights of the meal. Wine by the glass is of excellent quality. We will likely return but definitely NOT for steak. read more

We enjoyed a Sunday brunch there in December a year ago under the prior, Benjamin management. We chose to eat upstairs in what used to be Sarah's WinE Bar because we had heard about the downstairs noise level, and frankly, my husband relies on his hearing aids anyway. The brunch was lovely with salmon Benedict and a decent Bloody Mary, plus a very responsive wait staff. However, I do grieve when I see people who post here, after a total management change and even a complete identity change to an Italian steakhouse, and what do they post about? Grievances with the long departed management! How about giving the new owners, whom we have yet to meet, a chance to prove their skills. Have now been to this lovely restaurant twice and each time we left exclaiming about the food, ambiance, waitstaff and the new owner Reggie. I had the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection and I raved so much about it, I had it again when I went the second time and my husband had the chicken martini which he said was delicious and it looked it too. Valet parking is always a plus as well. We decided that this place will definitely be a regular for us as we dine out 4-5 nights per week. You won't be sorry. read more

Ridgefield is a town of consistently mediocre food but I can not for the life of me understand how good restaurants can't make it here. The Benjamin was fine. Good not great but a solid mediocre choice. R house - the new addition to Ridgefield has to take the cake for the absolute worst restaurant here. A really difficult accolade but they've done it! From the minute you get there you think "what the hell happened to this place." Valet on a Monday night with a wide open parking lot. Tacky decor that highlights the literal holes in the walls from where they removed (and didn't fill) the Benjamin signage. Starting with the bread you know this place is going to be some version of atrocious. How does one mess up bread? Ask R house. We ordered a variety of apps and one entree. Everything came out at once and I'm being extremely generous when I say most of it was inedible. The "shrimp scampi" for $40 came with 5 horrifically frozen and defrosted shrimp, 4 pieces of broccoli and NO pasta. The lobster cocktail was clearly frozen and lathered with some kind of mayo which still could not help the fact that all you tasted was wet lobster water. The server seemed embarrassed and everyone around us was clearly struggling with their orders as well. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Even in a town with countless mediocre spots, this one takes the cake. Here's to hoping the next owners taste the food before charging ~$100 a person. read more

This one of the best experiences I have had in a restaurant in a long time. Reggie and his staff were great. So knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone took such good care of us and made us feel at home. R House delivers the kind of dining experience you hope for in a true steakhouse night out. All of the food was outstanding. I really appreciate it how the owner came and checked on us twice to make sure we were having a good experience. I have been in the restaurant business for 20 past years and this was one of the top experiences that I've ever had. We will definitely be back! read more

Just had a 5 star meal with my husband at R House and I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Food-fabulous, service-fabulous, ambiance-fabulous. We went during their brunch/lunch time and I ordered off the menu and they had no problem to accommodate me. Wait staff and waiter check on us without being intrusive and we met the new owner who is a true gentlemen. We are going back Christmas day, that's how much we loved the food and the employees. read more

Arrived thinking we were eating at The Benjamin and were surprised to find out it changed to be a steakhouse. Was really looking forward to the Benjamin's cuisine, service, extensive wine list and cocktails. Valet parking with a empty small lot behind them was the first thing I noticed was different. Bread was basic with hard butter right out of the fridge. Asked for my steak to be medium rare, came out medium. Homefries with a steak? I opt'd out. Started with a $15 glass of sparking rose, they came out with a small bottle that looked like it was $3.99 from the liquor store. from This place is nothing like what it used to be and not worth the prices. Drove 30 mins thinking we were returning to an exceptional place and were sadly very disappointed. Won't be returning. There's many other excellent unique restaurants in the county that we'd rather go to. read more

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Reggie, the owner, is the most gracious restaurateur and welcomes you with a smile. The front desk has friendly young ladies who walk you to your table and then you sit. The wait staff is attentive and the food is incredible. I've been there several times now and each time we're there we comment how we can't wait to come back. The first 3 times I had the filet mignon which comes with home fries that are delicious. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Last night I had the salmon with a crusty top that was out of this world. The wedge salad is SUPERB! Topped it off with a spicy margarita and I was happy. A tartufo and a key lime pie was the perfect ending to a perfect evening. The ambiance is incredible. So well done. I LOVE this place! You won't be sorry. Of course, Reggie offered us an after dinner drink to make this birthday an absolutely perfect one that I will never forget. Kudos to Gerardo our fabulous waiter and Engin, our first waiter who made us fall in love with R House and him as well. Continued success. Well deserved. read more
