    Eggs your way with bacon
    Dani S.

Sunday brunch adventures brought us to Terri's Cafe today. This place was poppin this Sunday morning. We did have a 30 minute wait but we actually got sat pretty quickly. With it being so busy, it did take a minute for our server to get to us. She did stop by and acknowledge our table which was nice. I appreciate that she let us know she was aware of us. She grabbed our drinks and took orders afterwards. Poor thing used 3 reusable tablets to take our order. That's a lot of tablets to carry just to take orders. I found it odd but maybe that's a new way of taking orders that I'm not used to. Breakfast did take a while to be prepared. I noticed a few tables that got their food before us after being sat after us. It could have been that our table was a party of 7 but that still doesn't make sense to me. Why the delay for our table? I grabbed the 2 eggs your way with bacon for breakfast. For my sides I grabbed fruit and country fries with a side of country gravy. The bacon was nice and crispy. The fruit was not quite ripe so it was a little hard but still sweet. The country fries and the gravy were a flop for me. The potatoes were over cooked and not seasoned. Some of the potatoes were so crunchy that it was inedible. One side of the potatoe was dark brown/overcooked and the other side was stark white. Like they cooked the potatoes all on one side and didn't flip them. I couldn't eat half of them cause they were so hard. The gravy didn't seem fresh. There was a chunky part of my gravy that they served me that looked like it had been sitting for a while. It was quite unappealing. After eating at another local breakfast joint last week, they have set the bar incredibly high. Unfortunately today, this meal just didn't do it for me. The service was good and the vibe is nice but as a whole i don't know if I would go back.

Monte Cristo a pickle sliver, wilted lettuce, and a cup of raspberry jam.

Good basic fair and unlikely to offend picky eaters. We went at 7:30 on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was quiet. Service was great with only half-a-dozen tables in at the time. We had heard from friends that later in the day, there can be a line out the door. What got us to visit was my never ending quest for great hollandaise sauce and Benedict or Monte Cristo. For context, I don't do nasty gravy-style hollandaise that just needs water added. I requested a sample before ordering and the cook didn't even get the amount of water added correct. Some cooks will add a hint of lemon juice during hydration to give it basic freshness, but not here. So I went to the lunch menu. I enjoyed the Monte Cristo. Nice and juicy with a good raspberry jam. Full bite. Not a thin sandwich. Suggest mixing jam first with a fork if you like to dip your sandwich like me. Served as a pre-portioned chunk. The sliver of a pickle on two pieces of wilted lettuce was a bit amusing though. I got the side salad (no picture). Very, very basic, but at least there was no rusting on the iceberg lettuce, so that is a good sign. Croutons, but some shredded carrots would have been nice. I probably wouldn't have served it with a tomato wedge that was that crunchy. My wife ordered french toast with bacon and eggs. Yes, clearly cooked fresh. If it is your style, straight up and between the uprights - basic. Syrup is maple-flavor sugar syrup. French toast lacks something that could offer flavor depth such as a little cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice in the dredge. Bacon was plain but with cooked well. Eggs, straight from the egg with a very minimal amount of salt added up front.

Wow! Finally a place in Meridian that I want to come back and visit again. The bash was fantastic! A fabulous suggestion to add the red potatoes as a side and the "small"pancakes. Did I say wow? Service was prompt and helpful who also offered great suggestions. It's nice to have this kind of service and extremely welcomed. Changed owners in 2017, Terri the new owner has made the breakfast fare wonderful and a delight to eat. It's hard to find great hash like this!

The food is always good, fresh, and satisfying, and it's a nice casual place to grab breakfast or brunch. The service is great ! My only complaint is the flies! There always seem to be quite a few flying around, and sometimes you feel like you have to fight them for your food. LOL! I really wish they could find a way to get that under control because it definitely takes away from the dining experience. Other than that, we enjoy coming here. This place is phenomenal and seriously one of the best breakfast places in all of Idaho. I hesitate to say that because there can definitely be a wait because of its popularity, but facts are facts. My wife and I went to Moe Joe's for breakfast recently and man was it good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and was stunned at the amount of food. Where to start. The steak was incredibly tender and enormous. The homemade biscuit was flaky and perfectly baked. The sausage gravy was meaty and flavorful. And the crispy hashbrowns seemed to cover half the plate. Then there are the house-made jellies. Who does that and how can I get more! The service was prompt and friendly with a great wait staff that made everything easy. The vibe of the restaurant is "friendly neighborhood spot" and feels like home. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. These folks know how to do breakfast right and I cannot wait to go back.

I'd call ahead and get your name on the list as it's quite popular and lots of people eat here. So, we had a group of four. The chicken fried steak was very good with gravy and huge portion. Good luck finishing it. I had corned beef hash unlike any I've ever had. The corned beef as in thin strips with no fat and all taste and fresh. The pancake will most assuredly will be the biggest you've ever seen. It's fluffy and done just right! We went on a Friday. It appeared the place had more tables available around the lunch hour. The wait staff was serving us throughout meal. Checking in regularly. Topping off the coffee and asking about our meal. Next time we visit will try their lunch. Not very often where you eat somewhere and don't find something that falls short or disappoints you. Well nothing but KUDOS! For this place. (I mean, some of it is greasy and the syrup is gloopy and a bit nasty-- it's better if it's warm-- but overall the food is good). So before I tell you the BIG issue at Joe Momma's, let me first set the scene. JM's looks like a misty mountain cabin come to life. River rock and pinecone and foliage lanterns greet you as you walk up ... log walls and a massive stone fireplace whisper of times gone by as you enter, and hens adorn the dark wood walls. You could easily picture the Fellowship of the Ring sitting in a booth across from you. It's truly charming. So what's the problem with Joe Momma's? The music! It's AWFUL and completely bizarre given the atmosphere of the restaurant. But hey, if blasted mid-2000's Rihanna and Katy Perry songs on a loop (we counted more than 4) is your idea of a good time at 8:30am on a Saturday morning in a log cabin, then you'll love it. I have a feeling Samwise and Frodo would not though and neither did we. The music is loud, very loud. And sounds more like an LA radio station playing Pop's Top Hits from 19 years ago. Which would be okay, I guess, if the energy of the restaurant matched it-- you know, modern architecture, crisp lines, sleek furniture and color design-- think Snooze in Scottsdale, Az which is basically a breakfast night club. But alas, Joe Momma's is beloved because of the misty mountain feel. The upscale Cracker Barrel vibe. The charming, rustic beauty. And the abrasive, bad pop music ruins the whole thing. It's is truly so freaking weird! Maybe they could keep the Pop for the lunch rush, but PLEASE Joe Momma's, for the love of Frodo, leave breakfast alone and come up with a playlist that matches your beloved establishment!!

The eggs were actually poached perfectly. Seriously, my mouth is watering just reflecting on the food. The toasted single ciabatta is something that I liked versus a couple English muffins. The smoked ham a tad salty but paired with the hollandaise very well. Ripe tomatoes. The greens for a side was my choice versus potatoes. I'll have to try the potatoes next time because this day was going to be hot and smokey, so I needed to keep it light. I drink coffee black, and the coffee was really good. On the service, as some have complained about, I can't really speak to that. I went in before work, so I was there at 7. By the time I left at 7:45, two more tables came in and one had already left. 9 or 10am on a Sunday is probably different. So the service was good for me. The decor was an updated nautical theme that I seen before. A few decades ago, I went to a First Watch in a land far away. When it was brought to the Boise area, I thought it would be interesting to have that seasonal approach option compared to fixed menu Cisco approach. And if you're good with a standard pancake, maple flavored syrup, a couple slices of bacon, and two plain scrambled eggs - do that. If you like something interesting, First Watch.

The million dollar bacon as they call it is nothing to brag about either. So let's get into it a bit more. My meal was Avocado Toast that was decent but not great. When ordering Avocado toast I don't expect my avocado to be mashed and put on with a scoop of it, most places I get it have it sliced and looking presentable and the poached eggs on top as part of the presentation as well not slopped in a cup on the side. It would have also been nice if they had everything bagel seasoning for the dish as well and could offer to customers. The fall breakfast sandwich my friend ordered was awful and way over flavored with the maple. We ended up getting that replaced it was that bad. I would also like to add that the potato's are not that great either. Tasted like they were undercooked and had a crunch to the cent of them not a crispy exterior. When it came to the service it was good and she was really nice and accommodating to the over the top friend that was there enjoying brunch with me. She handled him like a pro. The manager was really nice and wanted to please us because of the food that wasn't great. The restaurant has a nice feel and the service team does its best to create an environment and ambiance that is enjoyable for the customers.

She listened to my friend, who wanted a fancy coffee, and made him a s'mores coffee that wasn't too sweet but very flavorful. My friend ordered an omelette, which was outstanding on its own. But it didn't come close to being on the same level as the breakfast enchiladas. The red sauce was flavorful and paired so well with the cheese and egg filling. And the hash browns are coarsely grated fresh potatoes with the perfect crust. Honestly, I was a little sad when the meal was over.
