    Eggs your way with bacon
    Dani S.

Sunday brunch adventures brought us to Terri's Cafe today. This place was poppin this Sunday morning. We did have a 30 minute wait but we actually got sat pretty quickly. With it being so busy, it did take a minute for our server to get to us. She did stop by and acknowledge our table which was nice. I appreciate that she let us know she was aware of us. She grabbed our drinks and took orders afterwards. Poor thing used 3 reusable tablets to take our order. That's a lot of tablets to carry just to take orders. I found it odd but maybe that's a new way of taking orders that I'm not used to. Breakfast did take a while to be prepared. I noticed a few tables that got their food before us after being sat after us. It could have been that our table was a party of 7 but that still doesn't make sense to me. Why the delay for our table? I grabbed the 2 eggs your way with bacon for breakfast. For my sides I grabbed fruit and country fries with a side of country gravy. The bacon was nice and crispy. The fruit was not quite ripe so it was a little hard but still sweet. The country fries and the gravy were a flop for me. The potatoes were over cooked and not seasoned. Some of the potatoes were so crunchy that it was inedible. One side of the potatoe was dark brown/overcooked and the other side was stark white. Like they cooked the potatoes all on one side and didn't flip them. I couldn't eat half of them cause they were so hard. The gravy didn't seem fresh. There was a chunky part of my gravy that they served me that looked like it had been sitting for a while. It was quite unappealing. After eating at another local breakfast joint last week, they have set the bar incredibly high. Unfortunately today, this meal just didn't do it for me. The service was good and the vibe is nice but as a whole i don't know if I would go back.

Wow! Finally a place in Meridian that I want to come back and visit again. The bash was fantastic! A fabulous suggestion to add the red potatoes as a side and the "small"pancakes. Did I say wow? Service was prompt and helpful who also offered great suggestions. It's nice to have this kind of service and extremely welcomed. Changed owners in 2017, Terri the new owner has made the breakfast fare wonderful and a delight to eat. It's hard to find great hash like this!

Monte Cristo a pickle sliver, wilted lettuce, and a cup of raspberry jam.

Good basic fair and unlikely to offend picky eaters. We went at 7:30 on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was quiet. Service was great with only half-a-dozen tables in at the time. We had heard from friends that later in the day, there can be a line out the door. What got us to visit was my never ending quest for great hollandaise sauce and Benedict or Monte Cristo. For context, I don't do nasty gravy-style hollandaise that just needs water added. I requested a sample before ordering and the cook didn't even get the amount of water added correct. Some cooks will add a hint of lemon juice during hydration to give it basic freshness, but not here. So I went to the lunch menu. I enjoyed the Monte Cristo. Nice and juicy with a good raspberry jam. Full bite. Not a thin sandwich. Suggest mixing jam first with a fork if you like to dip your sandwich like me. Served as a pre-portioned chunk. The sliver of a pickle on two pieces of wilted lettuce was a bit amusing though. I got the side salad (no picture). Very, very basic, but at least there was no rusting on the iceberg lettuce, so that is a good sign. Croutons, but some shredded carrots would have been nice. I probably wouldn't have served it with a tomato wedge that was that crunchy. My wife ordered french toast with bacon and eggs. Yes, clearly cooked fresh. If it is your style, straight up and between the uprights - basic. Syrup is maple-flavor sugar syrup. French toast lacks something that could offer flavor depth such as a little cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice in the dredge. Bacon was plain but with cooked well. Eggs, straight from the egg with a very minimal amount of salt added up front.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to order food because we had to catch a movie. However, during our visit, we overheard who we believe to be one of the owners (his photos were displayed on the wall) speaking poorly about employees and referring to them as "idiots." That alone was disappointing, but hearing it within earshot of customers felt extremely unprofessional. As a long-time business owner myself, I firmly believe you are only as strong as your team. Respecting employees -- especially publicly -- is critical to a healthy work environment and strong customer experience. It was uncomfortable to witness and ultimately the reason we won't be returning. I genuinely felt sorry for the staff working that shift. Additionally, it appeared that both owners may have been drinking while on shift, which also felt unprofessional. One of them did approach us and seemed very sweet, but after overhearing the earlier comments, it unfortunately changed the entire atmosphere for us. The overall ambiance was decent, and Alex did a great job. It's just disappointing when leadership undermines what could otherwise be a positive experience.

My wife had the mac and cheese which was great (note: a big spicier than expected). The also have a large selection of drinks. We finished our walk and made our way to the restaurant. This will be our 6th year having lunch here. Trying to keep our traditions alive. As a courtesy, we called the day before to let management know that they will be expecting a party of 20. This joint charges 30 bucks per person for reservations as a deposit. 30 bucks?!? It's quite humorous really, 30 dollar deposit is more than a majority of their meals they charge. The manager on duty last year told us to call to let them know for a heads up but not necessarily make a reservation. And of course that manager doesn't work there anymore. The manager I spoke with was a complete joke. "Saturday is our busiest day". We'll, if it's your busiest day than why aren't you properly staffed? "We can't just serve you in 2 seconds". Never have I asked to be served in 2 seconds. What kind of management team do you have running this joint? Clearly unprofessional clowns. We showed up at opening. Clearly I wasn't taken seriously since the hostess had no clue about our large party coming. No tables were set up. "You should have came at 11:30". I didn't know that we had to accommodate to the manager and his timing. He set up our tables and didn't even bother with us the whole time we were there. Food was good. I had the salmon. I had asked for my salmon to be overly cooked. With my new kidney, I can't have anything like fish and beef rare. My fish was not cooked the way I asked and had to be sent back. I expressed to the server if needed out more than well done. So honestly, I don't think the cook took my request seriously. Last year eating at the restaurant was a crap show. This year is a bigger crap show. So many better restaurants in town that don't have this ridiculous reservation fee and yet this joint does. Management here is on the same tier as a trash can. Honestly, after this last visit, we might consider going to another joint to start a new tradition. My family and our money is worth more than the disrespect management gave us.

With its varied menu and delicious happy hour selection this place could be a favorite for a wide variety of the local population. Classy, welcoming with engaging staff. While the selections of taps are diverse and smart for diners, it is the kitchen that is the real star here. We tried the Happy Hour fare (3-5 pm). See the pics for details. We also tried the Kobe sliders, but they fell short of the Chicken Sliders with their tender, juicy cuts of breast. The lineup of drinks are on full display at the bar and with scannable menus. This is a solid place for bringing friends or family for a gathering - yes, like the name suggests "Common". If anyone in your group cannot find a drink and meal to their liking, then you need to replace that person from your social circle or family. 2 hour free parking directly behind the building makes this location much better than the downtown businesses in the liberal ghetto of Boise where they will soon tax the air you breathe. Here, the pricing will not require you to take out a second mortgage as the Boise elites would have you do for eating in their downtown. It is no surprise that more quality dining places are opening in cities like Eagle, Caldwell, Nampa and Meridian where Idahoans can enjoy life.

Despite being a Tuesday, the place got busy, very quickly. The ambiance is casual steakhouse, with wood tables and booths. It is a good sized restaurant. We were part of the first group to arrive, but it still took about 5 minutes to be seated. They tried to put us at a table for two, but my wife very nicely asked if we could move to a bigger table, and the hostess was nice enough to allow it. I could see why TR is popular: you can get a steak at a very reasonable price. They have a M-TH special up until 5 pm. $12 for one of the listed entrees, including the two sides. I had already looked at the menu before we came and my choice was on the list: a 6-oz sirloin steak. My wife got the 12-oz ribeye, still only $24. We both got salads and I got the green beans. We both got sauteed mushrooms on top of our meat and the three shrimp added to our entree. You pay $4 for the shrimp; I was surprised to learn that they charge $2.29 for the sauteed mushrooms. I must have missed that. Still, if I had to do it over, I'd still get the mushrooms. They were great. The meat was grilled perfectly, the salads had croutons, cheese, a hard boiled egg, and tomatoes. Yummy. The green beans had a nice flavor, with bacon bits added to them, but they were mushy and in a juice that wasn't really to my liking. Of course, the complimentary buns and honey butter are to die for. Our server was Brooklyn. She was very nice and attentive, frequently asking us if we needed anything else. Our water glasses were not refilled. We did feel a light pressure to not linger at the table. Nothing overt, just subtle. Maybe I imagined it. Overall, the service was great. All in all, a very nice experience. We will be back.
