Both the steak and the burger meat were cooked to absolute perfection (a true medium rare). The lettuce and veggies in the salad were incredibly fresh and crisp, and it was tossed in a delicious, Greek-style dressing that complimented the dish perfectly. My husbands burger was topped with a cheesy fried tatertot and his onion rings were perfectly finished; the batter didnt slip off when taking a bite. With its varied menu and delicious happy hour selection this place could be a favorite for a wide variety of the local population. Classy, welcoming with engaging staff. While the selections of taps are diverse and smart for diners, it is the kitchen that is the real star here. We tried the Happy Hour fare (3-5 pm). See the pics for details. We also tried the Kobe sliders, but they fell short of the Chicken Sliders with their tender, juicy cuts of breast. The lineup of drinks are on full display at the bar and with scannable menus. This is a solid place for bringing friends or family for a gathering - yes, like the name suggests "Common". If anyone in your group cannot find a drink and meal to their liking, then you need to replace that person from your social circle or family. 2 hour free parking directly behind the building makes this location much better than the downtown businesses in the liberal ghetto of Boise where they will soon tax the air you breathe. Here, the pricing will not require you to take out a second mortgage as the Boise elites would have you do for eating in their downtown. The location is in a very nice looking building and the decor is comfortable with a little hint of rustic. Our waiter was very attentive and nice. He recommended the Absolutely Delicious for the drink and it was just that. It's like a raspberry martini but better. It was very dangerous. My husband and I got the Brilliant French Dip. We did ours without horseradish sauce and added swiss cheese and he did fries while I did the onion rings. Everything was well made and very tasty. Heads up for those who are gluten-free! I've been wanting to come here for a few years, and I sadly was super disappointed. Being gluten-free, I always read reviews before going out to eat. According to reviews, it seemed like they were super accommodating with the gluten-free diet, but that wasn't the case. I'm not celiac so cross contamination doesn't affect me, but I can't have any wheat at all or I get really sick due to not having it for many years due to autoimmune disorders. I was with a group of friends and I kindly asked the waitress if they had a gluten -free menu, and she said they don't have a menu but they can pretty much accommodate anything. Having a strict dietary restriction is already hard enough, and sometimes embarrassing when trying to order due to having to ask so many questions. When I asked about a few items, she said they couldn't accommodate those. She wasn't helpful at all and was blankly staring at me not willing to help walk me through what I could have. I asked about the grilled cheese that was supposed to be on toasted sourdough, which I totally get that the gf bun wouldn't have been ideal for that but I was trying to rush to order at this point, and she said it would be better with the bread, and I said "yeah I'm sure it would be, but I can't have wheat???" She then said it wouldn't be as good with the gf bun... I ordered it anyway in a panic. When I received it, it was not good. The bun was cold and fell apart more than a typical gf bun. I was super disappointed. It was super super dry with barely any bacon, pimento, or tomato. It definitely needed some real cheese on it. It was awful. I could barely eat it. At the end she saw that I barely ate it and she asked how it was. I was kind, but honest, and said that it wasn't very good.. She rudely said "yeah those buns aren't great, that was going to happen." I was super embarrassed and disappointed. If I do go back, I'd get a salad which did look pretty good, I'm not sure about gf dressings though, but overall it was not a good experience. The rib appetizer was also cooked to dry bones. The steak fritters were battered and deep fried? Why in the world would you do that to a perfectly good piece of meat? My guess is because it wasn't a good piece of meat. That also was overcooked and just weird. Definitely overpriced as the food was not good. This had to be one of my most disappointing visits. We were 5 minutes early to our reservation, but seated immediately. We waited at our table for 18 minutes, watching several other tables be seated with immediate service, before our server appeared...but that was only after I stopped another server and asked if anyone was available. We ordered everything at this time since we had more than enough time to review the menu. We ordered the finger steaks to open. I ordered the Tres Amigo Tacos, hubby ordered the Flat Iron Steak, daughter had the Chicken Fried Chicken and my friend visiting Idaho for the first time (and I had spent so much time raving about 830 Common to her) ordered the Flat Iron Steak Salad. Finger steaks were quite good as they were tender and lightly breaded. The cocktail sauce was great to me, but everyone at the table was not a fan. Dinner took longer than usual to come out, but we assumed it was due to pacing since we ordered an appetizer. Food arrived and looked amazing. My hubby loved his medium flat iron steak, fingerling potatoes as everything was tender and juicy. Daughter raved about the chicken fried chicken, which I tried, and it was perfectly cooked with crispy batter and fork-tender fried chicken. My friend thought her steak was deliciously cooked to order, but the salad roasted garlic dressing was not her favorite. Also the "salad" was more a steak plate with a side of lettuce. Luckily the server switched out to blue cheese dressing and she was happy. The biggest and most outrageous disappointment was my dinner - I ordered one of each taco, the fish, carnitas and chicken verde. The fish taco was a shining star; crispy and flaky with a lovely cream sauce and fresh vegetables. However, the carnitas adobo taco was so dry, even after adding lime and even borrowing my friend's uneaten garlic dressing, that I could barely swallow the food. I was trying to take smaller bites so I wouldn't have to chew so long before swallowing, but the flavor and dryness just was too much so I gave up. I started with the chicken verde next, taking a bite with eager anticipation, only to be met with a flavorless bite of chicken sawdust. I literally had to chew a solid 5 minutes before I could swallow. I tried again, dousing the taco with lime and more dressing, took a smaller bite and it was horrible. I couldn't make it even 1/2 way through. It was my birthday dinner and I was so disappointed. I was genuinely concerned for other patrons, as I figured the carnitas and chicken were not prepared to order, so anyone else would have the same experience. I walked over to the host station and politely asked if I could talk to a manager to let them know. I was met with rolling eyes and asked, "Why? What's up?". No professionalism, concern or care. I politely explained that I had some concerns about my meal and would appreciate the opportunity to talk to the manager. The host went to my server and let them know I needed to talk to someone and my server uncomfortably came over. I asked for a manager and was told no manager was on duty and only a shift lead was available (concerning). I went on to explain that I could not finish my meal as both the carnitas and chicken tacos were inedible. My server was very understanding and explained that several customers had the same experience, then offered to remove the meal from my bill. I don't believe in this practice as the meal was prepared and I ate 1/3rd of it...not to mention, that was not the reason for the complaint. I am hesitant to return as a place that used to be great, should also be consistent. It was disappointing to be so excited to only have 1/2 of our party satisfied 100% with their meals. Not to mention, the host's flippant demeanor was unjustified. I would have given one star based on my meal alone, but my daughter and hubby genuinely loved their meals. It was also pretty distracting to see heavy clumps of dust spread across the top of the back booth seats, which stretched from end to end...made me question the cleanliness. They really need to bring back their fried Mac and cheese balls! read more

Date night with my wife and luckily, there was seating at the bar. We got some drinks, had a delicious spinach and artichoke dip appetizer then ordered our entrees. As we sat at the bar, I watched one bartender work non stop for what seemed to be the entire time we were there. She made drink after drink without a complaint or break for that matter. Eventually, another server came back to help, but man, it was tough to watch. I know it's hard to get help right now, but why exhaust such a talented person? You don't want to lose her as well! Good took a little longer than I would have liked, and my wife's entree was over salted. My burger was great, fries were so so. Prices are up and we walked away at $150 for two people which included a healthy (and well deserved) tip. Hard to justify that kind of spend at a bar and grill. Went here with friends after a walk though he Farmers market last week. Every. Little. Thing. Was. Perfect. We waited maybe two minutes to sit outside because the weather was amazing. Our waitress Jasmine was so personable, she gave us just the right amount of attention. The foodie in me was SO happy! My best friend and I had the BBQ chicken salad with perfectly cooked chicken, the ranch and drizzle sauce were delicious, her husband had the French Dip that looked amazing and their daughter had an Eggs Benedict that truly looked like something out of a magazine - and she said they tasted just as good. I know you might be rolling your eyes and saying this was some basic food but the magic was in that every single item was next level perfect. The more the prices of food go up the more I appreciate a place where there's actual talent in the kitchen and a staff that supports them. My husband and I have lunch dates here, we bring out of town guests and I've had girls brunch here too. My kids always love the little books with the menus. It's a nice touch. Went to Eight Thirty Common for the first time for my birthday and Father's Day brunch, and they made it so special. We were a little late but the staff was super kind and made it work. Brought our baby pup Koda Bug and sat on the patio. The vibe and atmosphere were perfect. I got the cinnamon French toast and the Brava potatoes, which were absolutely to die for. My dad had the biscuits and gravy and said it was the best he's ever had. I definitely stole a few bites. I had a pineapple mimosa my favorite, and Koda Bug got some eggs and blueberries. The restaurant was not as clean as I would have expected it to be half the tables were not clean and the floors needed swept. Our waitstaff was friendly but not over attenive.
