Eggs were blacker than normal for a boiled egg and smelled rancid, showed staff they said there was nothing wrong with it :( store overall looked nice but i feel like i got gaslit as they said "umm.. have u ever boiled an egg before?" They couldve said hey so this happens when u boil and egg, and i couldve said okay but smells like bad eggs and the entire underside of the yolk is black too, but instead i was just left feeling stupid :( left and didnt eat it If it is normal, thats fine but they just got defensive and made me feel stupid for being nervous. I ordered the New Yorker bagel on an Everything Bagel with cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, salmon, and fresh dill, and wow, it was amazing! Everything tasted so fresh, and the flavor combo was absolutely perfect. One of the best bagel sandwiches I've had in a long time. The ambiance is casual. The only downside was the drink situation. I paid for a fountain soda online, but when I arrived, they said it hadn't gone through, so I had to pay again. My husband's mocha also came out cold, which was disappointing. Despite those hiccups, the bagel itself totally delivered. I'd definitely go back, just maybe double-check the drink orders next time! read more

The bagels were pretty good but kinda was disappointed by their creme creese it didn't really give much flavor. I ordered the ham and bacon one, the bacon had a good flavor but I otherwise kind of just tasted more of bread and meat rather than a bagel. I liked how many options they had on their menu though. But the workers in their could use some customer service work, the two people in their did not say hi or even make eye contact with me while ordering. And just overall they were not very helpful. When they called out our order the person just rudely yelled the order # and slammed the bag down on the table. Then when we were checking our order number we had the person then again rudely said "yep that's yours" and walked off to the back. I don't think I would go back there are other better options in the Boise area. read more

I was quite impressed with the quality of the bagels and topping proportion inside. Definitely worth its price. The bagel was not too thick but just enough to get a crispy, savory bite. They have a machine that squeezes fresh orange juice right in front of you and it was refreshing and sweet! One of my top bagels shops to go to for a delightful breakfast. The space is small but they do have a small patio outside if you wanted to enjoy breakfast outside. Everyone working was welcoming and friendly. read more

I don't think they've eaten their own breakfast bagels. This place use to be my favorite but things have changed under new management. Both times I've been since they sold the eggs are cold, the sliced cheese is lukewarm warm and not melted. They need to turn up the egg warmer or cook it longer. I have been meaning to try this bagel joint and I'm happy I did today! Walking in, you felt welcomed. I was greeted right away. There were a few staff members working and they all had smiles on their faces. That's a great way to start someone's day. I took a minute to look over the menu since it was my first time there. No one made me feel like I was taking too long which was nice. It's the worst feeling being rushed. I grabbed a plain bagel with light smear for my husband and I grabbed an egg, sausage and cheese on a jalapeno bagel. They had so many fun options so they will definitely be a must try next time. My breakfast sammy was delicious! The texture of the bagel was chewy and not dense. It was perfectly toasted. The jalapenos in top had a good amount of heat but not overwhelming. The sausage patty they used was savory and thick. The jalapeno cream cheese added nice flavor to the bagel and it had a good amount of heat to it as well! What I liked most was the egg. I liked that it was fried and not a generic egg patty that is basically a scrambled egg patty. It made the sammy that much better!! I was only able to eat half of it. It's quite the breakfast sammy. Living on the other end of town has it's perks but man, I hate that this joint is clear across town for me. They are pushing some fantastic bagels! I can't wait to go back. read more

Absolute slop. The new owners ruined this place. I tried it again after the first time I went under the new ownership and I feel like it's just gotten worse. I ordered the New Yorker via DoorDash and what was delivered was an unmitigated disaster. Apparently it's not served open face anymore so the ingredients were thrown together and falling out of the bagel. No dill came on the bagel which was disappointing since that's a major ingredient of a bagel with lox. I had to use my own dill from home. The bagel was thin and not as fluffy as I remember and they mixed in way too many capers into the cream cheese. Just terrible... read more

I'm a huge bagel snob and I am always extremely satisfied every time I come here. The staff is kind and always have great attitudes, even when they are completely slammed. I also always notice how well they work together as a team. The bagel itself is made to perfection, they are always fresh and toasted to perfection. The ingredients taste good and I have never had an issue here. The store is a bit smaller when it comes to seating, but I prefer taking it to go so that does not bother me. read more

Quick update for anyone coming here after work and you are rushing to get here before they close. You better get here at least 30 minutes before 2. So they close at 2pm. I got off work and rushed here from downtown boise. I got here seven minutes before closing hoping they were still open, since technically it was not 2pm. Nope. Doors are locked and lights are off. People are inside and they are all done for the day. I absolutely love these bagels, but do not try to rush here after work thinking you can beat them before they close. If you are even close to their closing time, you won't make it. Save yourself the disappointment, time, gas, drive through Eagle road traffic. Not worth the trouble. Super disappointed. At least there is an Auntie Anne's pretzels right here. read more

Went to Freedom Bagel bakery and met the new owner. We were picking up a dozen bagels for our dog's veterinarian as a thank you. The owner was so kind and gave us 3 complimentary bagels and even a free cream cheese. My daughter's split a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese and they said it was delicious. They tried the huckleberry cream cheese and said it was very tasty too. Everything looked fresh and smelled amazing. We will definitely be back. We went into the store at 4pm and let him know on Yelp it says they close at 2pm, but we saw it closes at 5pm. Also, we had frequented here before new ownership and loved the experience today as well. read more

Is this place under new ownership? I've been coming here for a few years and today all the old staff is gone and has been replaced. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but the atmosphere was different. The staff was not happy, or welcoming. The bagels were different. Much more dense inside and hard outside. Freedom Bagel Bakery is serving up fresh bagels and sandwiches. Their bagels are soft. I think they're the closest you can get to NY style bagels in the side of the US. They offer a variety of hot and cold drinks, including matcha lattes. Their dining area is always clean. I love their patriotic decor as well. Definitely recommend this bagel bakery! read more

4-star - why not 5? They ran out of bagels at like 12:30 (lunch time) and just locked the door. I was floored, a bagel place running out of bagels, seriously so bizarre. The food? It's actually pretty dang good. Had a bagel sammy (a club I think) and it was solid. Good service, no long wait. All in all, it's a place I would return BUT I would be concerned if they were actually open even if it was business hours. read more

Here are some initial results from the great bagel search of Southern Idaho. The same Lox and bagel sandwich with two extra bagels that Freedom Bagel Bakery charged $17.46 was $12.43 at Blue Sky Bagels. The difference of over $5 could be used to buy nearly a dozen of "day old" bagels at Blue Sky. One has to wonder why Freedom Bagel Bakery didn't have some bags of "day old" bagels for sale during my visit. Could Freedom actually know exactly how many bagels to make? Because if they do, thousands of bagel shops across this country would love to know the secret. The $1.99 bagel shown on the receipt could have been purchased for 50 cents if one wanted a day old bagel at Blue Sky. Hey, who can't eat a reheated, day old bagel? Just a note on packaging. WOW! A GIANT BROWN BAG AROUND A STYROFOAM CLAMSHELL, plus a bag for the extra bagels along with napkins and other misc paper. Is it any wonder that their trash cans are overflowing in the dining area? Freedom Bagel must be carrying a lot of overhead costs due to their location. Maybe if they rethink their packaging, it could be reflected in their prices. As to their Lox and Cream cheese on a bagel standard menu item at all bagel shops, this one ranked pretty low. The level of saltiness was overpowering. They need to rinse the capers with water and choose salmon that isn't brined as a preservative. Essentially, they got nearly everything wrong in their New Yorker. It would shame a native New Yorker to come here. read more
