We tried The Griddle for the first time as our go-to location across the street had a 45+ minute wait. Wait here on a Saturday at 9:30 was 15 minutes. I'm not really in favor of having to give your cell phone number to feed into their app so you know when your table is ready, but there you have it. The inside is pretty cool if you are into that "converted warehouse" feel of exposed beam crossed with a country kitchen feel. Tables aren't crammed together, definitely a sense of space. There are booth options as well. And as I prefer, no TVs. There were 2 groups of 14 that were served during our visit, so they can definitely accommodate larger parties. Our server rarely checked in, took 10 minutes to refill coffee after we requested a top off (she forgot), and never ended up refilling out water. The coffee we did get was good though. As always, I'm a hollandaise connoisseur as the foundation for perfect Benedict - my go to breakfast item. So I asked for a sample before I ordered, and I'm glad I did. The Griddle's hollandaise was curious. It was clearly about 25-50% powdered mix (which tastes like nasty beef gravy) with the balance being added clarified butter and a very strong dose of lemon. It was marginal, but good enough. So, I went with the crab cake Benedict. The crab cakes were a bit "fishy," so the strong lemon flavor was a plus. After flagging down our server, I requested a new poached egg as one of them arrived hard boiled. (I want runny yolks as hard boiled are too chalky for my taste.) The replacement egg was delivered very quickly. My guest had the banana Texas french toast special with added bacon and scrambled eggs. Bacon was nice and thick, nicely cooked. Scrambled eggs are pretty much just that. The french toast did have great body to it, but I'm not a huge banana fan. Still enjoyed it though. I would consider this an option for a revisit. read more

Their messaging app sent me one text 12 minutes after I registered at the front desk. But that message combined both the "we have you on our wait list" along with a second message 'your table is ready". This was 12 minutes after registering. One notification for the combined messages. So, as I waited for the table ready message I missed our 10 minute warning. Was this some screw up of their messaging provider? Pretty lousy implementation. So when we finally asked why the "15 minute wait m" became 35 we found out our reservation had expired. When asked whst they could do under the circumstances, we were told we'd have to go to the bottom of the list and wait again. This time for 20 minutes. Apparently, this Griddle location is where customer service goes to die. Meanwhile, we hopped over to Joe Mama's where their messaging system is much more informative and intuitive. Serves moldy fruit and I got mold poisoning! I got a fruit cup and the grapes were moldy, I spit it out to go t a ft er I realized it but ingested the mold already. Few hours later I am seeing bright lights in my eyes, my left hand is getting numb and I have a huge headache! Symptoms of mold poisoning! Took antihistamine and googled what to do after ingesting mold and it's all symptoms of being exposed to mold and symptoms of poisoning. Still struggling and trying to get over it and not having to go to the emergency! Absolutely awful to serve people mold! Besides the food wasn't great and the French fries were greasy. OMG The Griddle in meridian was BOMB. The food was amazing I personally had the cowboy hash and it did not disappoint and also they have the best pancakes I ever had, it was also so filling. And even though the place was hopping the service was still excellent, we got served and got our food in no time. And the ambiance at least for us was calm. So I was in Boise visiting family and the discussion of where we should eat always comes up. I was looking for a good breakfast restaurant and my brother took no time at all recommending this location. What a great choice. First off, our waiter Tyler was amazing. She was very friendly and patient. It took us awhile to figure out what we wanted, and she never rushed us. It is hard to decide what to order. I had the Wild West Scramble, which was excellent. I had a friend that was having cataract surgery nearby and I came here while I waited for him. I've been to The Griddle in Eagle, but this is my first time here. First off, Gracie was my server and she was great. She was nice, attentive, and checked back on my several times. I ordered the California omelet with pepper jack cheese instead of feta, rye bread, and hashbrowns. Even with their salsa on my omelet, I did not find it all that flavorful and had to put a fair amount of salt to get some pop. I didn't get any heat of the pepper jack. The hashbrowns were not crispy, but more like potatoes with a little brown on them. The rye toast was fine. Their coffee is what you find in many diners, weak. So, to sum it up, great service and average food with the usual Griddle ambiance. read more

This is truly a great little breakfast Café. We've been here several times and the service is always friendly and outstanding today. I got the huevos ranchero and it was Surprisingly good though not in a Mexican food restaurant. It has a griddle ranchero sauce, their style, but it was wonderful. I used to wait a considerable amount of time to get brunch at The Griddle in Boise - but I would probably not wait for a table here again. Overall though, a very OK brunch spot! Not having to wait was amazing and a switch up from what I remember about their Boise location. I think during the weekdays / less busy times that they have you seat yourself. To start with we got an orange juice and coffee. I saw that some folks also had lattes -- so you can also get an espresso drink here too! I ordered the breakfast quesadillas with chorizo, but the chorizo really fell short. There was almost no flavor from the chorizo, or really much flavor or spice at all. I get it... it's in Meridian, Idaho but the flavor was severely lacking. I remember being obsessed with the hashbrowns here and this go around we actually left hashbrowns on the plate. Crazy, right? The crunch and texture was there, I think once again it's that the seasoning fell short. To be honest, I can see someone like my mom who doesn't really like spicy food really liking this spot. Orange juice freshly squeezed was top notch. Ambience was welcoming. Busy restaurant with plenty of staff. We were on the waitlist for the counter for about 5 minutes. This was the only breakfast joint that didn't have a 30 minute wait. We were seated quickly and our server was ON TOP OF IT. My sister couldn't decide and our server was ready with a ton of recommendations. He kept trying to help with our very unhappy baby at the table. The crying baby and the mom had to get up multiple times to get the baby to be quite. So, my sister had to order for our friend while she was away and ordered the incorrect meal. When the meal arrived and we realized it was wrong. The server was so awesome and corrected it immediately even though it was our fault. The replacement meal was served less than 5 minutes later. They didn't even charge us for the returned meal. 10/10 great service, amazing server and solid food. Highly suggest visiting this place. read more

Came to this location today to try it out because they are about to open a new one within 3 mins of our house. Unfortunately our experience was not great today... We arrived to find the restaurant about 25% full. The sign said to seat ourselves, so we found a booth and sat ourselves. Immediately a waitress came by and dropped off menus. So far, so good. Then it was 15 minutes before anyone visited us to even ask if we were thirsty! We finally stopped one of the waitresses and asked if anyone would be waiting on our table. She said she'd look into it. A few minutes later a waitress we hadn't seen walks up and says she'd look into didn't know she was assigned to wait on our table. To me, this is a challenge when you allow customers to come in and seat themselves. So we immediately ordered our breakfast. It didn't take long to arrive, but again, it didn't go so well... The hash browns were nothing but oil with a few strands of potatoes added. The portion was smaller than typical for a restaurant of this type. 1/2 were under cooked and the other half were over cooked. The meat lovers omelette was so/so. Again, smaller portion size than normal. The other order we had was a pancake. It never showed up. I was 75% done eating my entire breakfast when the waitress finally showed up to ask how it was going. We let her know that we were missing the pancake. She immediately returned with it. Unfortunately, it was well undercooked and doughy. Challenging to eat. Throughout this entire time we were there, not a single person came by to see if we wanted our water refilled. This so disappointing because we were exciting to see a new breakfast place opening up in our neighborhood soon. Our only hope is that the new facility is much better managed than this location. We won't be coming back here. There are too many really good options for breakfast than to deal with the issues described above. read more

We were looking around and no one was talking to us then later our server came from the back. Also I ordered the feta, tomato, basil and spinach omelette. This was our third time eating at this establishment, and both the service and food have been very good. The open inside area caters well to the crowds that arrive there ready to eat. Each day we were there we can tell there was a regular devoted crowd of customers. Charslie was a very attentive server to our needs, as well as very pleasant to chat with. Food had good flavor and menu had a nice diversity of choices. My wife's favorite was the Banana Pancakes, which were fluffy and tasted great.
