The Alt was particularly good and was just as good as any that I've had in Düsseldorf. I enjoyed a Best of the Wurst platter with a Knockwurst, a Weisswurst, and a Bockwurst - all great - with sauerkraut and onions. They have good German mustard available, which is a 'must'. Our group enjoyed the beer, but the food needs work. Everything was bland. One sandwich wasn't warm. The ranch dressing was flavorless and watery. I don't know if it's being watered down to save money, or if this is the way it's being made. We ordered our food to-go, so we could eat outside on the patio. No one told us gratuity was automatically added to takeout orders over $60, so we accidentally tipped twice, which really annoyed us when we had to basically work as our own wait staff. Continuing to offer outstanding food and even more outstanding craft beers. With so many breweries in MI it's refreshing to find a place that is clearly different. Not just another pizza and IPA place. The food is German inspired with some American extras mixed in. Same with the beer. Lagers, from strait up traditional to some with wonderful local creativity added! The owners really take pride and interest in the local community and in their craft. Since moving to their new location under Covid limitations, I have been way more impressed! Their take out system made it easy to order safely, though their food at home was not quite as good as in person. My wife and I went last week for a birthday. The beer menu has drastically expanded from German style beers to more experimental or German influenced hybrids, especially with the addition of hops and darker beers. Their food in-house is delicious! Their Doner Kebab (Gyro) was one of the best gyros I've had, and probably the best in BC. My only critique was the condition of the golf course which was our view. It is completely over grown and in disrepair. Such potential for an amazing view on the 9th hole green with a little landscaping and love. Highly recommended! read more

This is a great brewery. While the focus is definitely on the beer, it feels very small-business, and it definitely offers amazing pretzels. Even if I wasn't going to come back for the beer, I'd definitely be back for the pretzels. PROS: -Feels very small-business. It definitely feels like a family run operation. -Pretzels are AMAZING. Very cheap (less than $4 for a full-sized pretzel), and they come out warm, chewy, and fresh baked. It doesn't feel like a microwaved pretzel - it feels like a home-cooked version. The beer cheese is pretty good too - but be aware that it costs an extra dollar. (If you don't go nuts, a single thing of beer cheese could last you two pretzels) -Cute German decor everywhere. Near the door you'll find some "quick helpful" German speaking tips. The walls are painted in German colors. It just generally brings out the "German" feel. -Lots of beer options. In most cases, a 20 ounce is only a dollar more than a 14 ounce. Makes it worth the upgrade. -Decent beer offerings. The beer we had (Kenny) tasted fantastic! The beer offerings didn't seem quite as varied as I was hoping or expecting, but for the one we had, it was good. I wish they offered a different way to display the beers, though. They put the names on tiny flip-cards that sit on every table. It looks cute, but it makes it difficult to see all of the beers, their statistics, and other things at a glance. CONS: -Service was a little slow. Servers were super duper friendly, but they seemed pretty busy, and it took awhile to get food requests or the check. We easily spent over an hour and a half here - mostly in wait times. They were friendly, though, and it looked like they were pretty busy. (One of the women tending the bar was also tending tables) -They do charge a small fee for their brewery stickers. We had heard that Territorial Brewing had amazing German food so we made the short trip to Battle Creek to find out. The beer selection was a little on the small side but we were told that this is an ever fluctuating situation. Due to it's moderate size different beers pop up and sell out before being replaced with new brews. Unless you are an incredible beer snob you will find a beer or two that will satisfy your palate. The food.... wow! We had one of their pretzels with beer cheese. I could have drank the beer cheese alone it was so delicious. We had a sampling called, "Best of the Wurst" of bratwurst, knackwurst and other sausages and all were different and amazing. We also tried the schnitzel which was just the right balance of salty, breaded, moist and delicious. The sides all looked delicious but we went with the German potato salad which was awesome. We loved the German themed décor and interested descriptions on the menu. The night we were there they had live music which started part way through our visit. I think the music and noise level would increase the later into the evening you go. For a late lunch early dinner this place would be great for families and friends that want a chill place to drink tasty beer and eat even better food. I suspect that people seeking great beer, a fun atmosphere and good music will be happy here in the later evening. We will definitely make a return trip to Territorial Brewing Company. read more

Delicious! I stopped here for a quick lunch because I can't resist a good brewery or German food. I tried a beer flight with a good mix of amber/Pilsner/lager/etc and they were all great. The food really stood out to me. I am a sucker for soft pretzels with mustard, and this place did not disappoint! Plus I think they have about 4 different types of mustard alone. For my meal, I had the brisket sliders with Jarlsberg and horseradish sauce. Made me think of a little bite of Christmas dinner growing up :) The German fries are great too - thin and crispy potato wedges that please both the fry and wedge lover. Small German brew restaurant with all the cool German swag. Cool unique beer names, I forgot to take a pic of the rotating taps and my delicious bratwurst. They have several different kinds of brats. I ordered the garlic pepper bratwurst with fries. Although the fries were more like fried potatoes chips. Not really sure if that's a German style of fries, but they were great! The beer is good and the atmosphere is nice to hang and chill. They have board games in the corner that you pick up and play at your table while waiting for your food. This is My Go To Place. The creative brewing team is regularly changing their brews while keeping the their standards. Some brews are quite creative. I had their Battle Creek Lager and took a 1/2 gallon growler home for the weekend. My Lagermeister Brothers' Steak was on par - delicious. The creamy mushroom sauce gracing a perfect medium rare leaves my mouth watering just reflecting back on our dinner. Having lived in Germany for a very long time I enjoy the rustic ambiance and German decorating tones. There is even a jersey from the German National Soccer team. Since my last review Territorial has pretty much become our weekly go-to stop for beer and wings. We pick up howlers and growlers of the Penetrator when it's in season (Winter-Spring) just because it's incredible. Get it while you can! Service has always been great. The waitstaff is consistently knowledgeable, attentive and friendly, even on busy nights. We've kind of settled on the wings as our favorite from the menu. Normally we get the smoky cayenne, but last night we had the BBQ and we were thoroughly impressed. Not your grocery store Sweet Baby Ray's style, the sauce on these was truly impressive. When we arrived the kitchen had closed, but they were nice enough to cook us a fresh pretzel. Which was 100%on point. Perfectly baked, hot and came with 3 different kinds of dipping mustards. The beer is very good. I got the Big Yellow Truck, the Creamy Ale (called I want some bo08!3$ :) )and their darker beer. All were very good. I am not a beer drinker, but went for date night dinner on the suggestion of a coworker last night. Service was fantastic. Our waiter was nice, gave great suggestions and came to check on the table just the right amount. The food came out quickly and everything was great! We had the Wurst sampler as an app. I am not a brat fan but their sausages were perfect. Not gritty or chewy and the flavor was awesome. We tried the sweet mustard and the spicy and they were both perfect matches to the sausages. My husband had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. He is a big boy and it was filling. I had the pulled pork grilled cheese. The bread was buttery and delicious. They gave the BBQ sauce on the slide and it was so good. Oh, and we ordered the Mac and cheese too and it was very good. Out of the places i've visited in Battle Creek, it's not much to look out on the outside, but is a cute and sporty place inside. One thing i must rave about is the German Chocolate Cake. Delicious German food, almost all house-made (down to the salad dressing!). Lots of tasty beers, many of which have delightfully punny names (like the Kenny Lager and the Gose Like Swayze). I got a Bavarian Pretzel with mustard, a Knockwurst with sauerkraut, and a beer flight with the Battle Creek Lager, Big Yellow Truck, Optimus Lime, and Samsquamch Block Party -- and it was a fantastic meal. Although the staff was friendly I found that the beer was not very flavorful - I got an apricot sour which was not really sour nor did it taste like apricot. The kale slaw was delicious and the sausage was ok but the food was not very hot straight out of the kitchen. Five stars for the beer and four stars for the food. I have been there twice for dinner and really like the Big Yellow Truck pilsner. Very nice flavor that I liked so much I did not try any of the other beers. My wife had the Wanted Dead and Alive Lager which was also very good with a nice flavor also. For dinner my wife and I had the Doner Kebab which was really good, stuffed with meat and delightful mess to work our way through. The second time my wife repeated with the Doner Kebab while I tried the Schnitzel. The Schnitzel was good but I may have made a mistake and had it with noodles instead of sauerkraut. The noodles were lukewarm, not hot, and really dry. The staff was great and enjoyable to talk to. Will definitely visit again the next time I am in the area. read more

This was a hidden gem! I came here on a work trip with 2 coworkers and everyone loved their food! I had the red cabbage sauerkraut and the chicken kale soup and they were so good! I did not know about it until a coworker told me about it, which makes me sad to think how much great beer I missed during my ignorance. I have recently discovered Gose, and their Gose Like Swayze is at the top of my list of favorites. I really want to give this place a higher rating because their beer is decentish. Came here with the family and in-laws. The pretzels are very good. Sauces are on point. The other food is a mixed bag of average to not so great. Service was good. The Currywurst SUCKS real bad. The sausage is sliced and very dry and over cooked. German fries are near burnt chips. The brisket is super dry and not flavorful. Kids enjoyed the slider and grilled cheese. The pulled pork that my wife got was decent. I'll stop back for beer and pretzels, but won't spend my money and this attempt at German fare. read more

I love the steak and mushroom gravy. The mushroom gravy is so tasty I fight not to lick the plate. I haven't eaten at the restaurant yet, I have only done take out, but I look forward to checking it out in the very near future. I have done take-out on multiple occasions and I have never been disappointed. The burgers are incredibly flavorful and well cooked. The German fries are fantastic and I love pork belly so it's just amazing! Several months back I tried a flatbread that had steak and quark cheese and it was absolutely out of this world, but sadly I don't see it on the menu anymore. This is a really hard call. I think I'd honestly give it a 3.5 but I rounded up because I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt. I've been a few times and I enjoy it overall. I love the german theme and seating is plentiful. The beers are good, though some of them I don't know if I would like a whole pint of ( but you can sample! So they're very accommodating ). The only thing was their food. It was somewhat bland and flavorless. I've never been to Germany, nor have I tried authentic german food, so maybe they're very true to their nature - because I don't imagine Deutsch food being very spicy and flavorful - so that is where the benefit of the doubt comes in. I really do enjoy their porkbelly fries though - I'd recommend it. Overall, it's one of the more unique experiences to have in Battlecreek, I recommend it. read more
