First time, last time. I ordered the fish sandwich thinking, how can they screw this up. And they responded with. "Hold my beer." My meal arrived, not the fish sandwich at all. Fish and chips with the batter being raw in the middle. I pointed it out to the waitress, who removed the wrong meal and had my sandwich made to go. What a great spot! The service is Stellar with genuinely friendly faces and great service. The atmosphere, cool and relaxed. Mix of high and low tables, a cozy fireplace, and a lil keno nook making it fun for those that want to try their luck. The food was very good. The curry and chips are yummy and the bbq wings were cooked perfectly. The owner made a point of acknowledging everyone coming and going which is so nice. Terry Brennan's Central Tavern finally opened in August 2025 on MA 134 in South Dennis. They are located in the former Sand Dollar space, which underwent extensive renovations. They have a full service bar with seating & TVs, high top table & regular table seating. There is also a small live music performance stage (on some nights) in the front, starring the owner himself on opening night. This neighborhood Irish pub offers pub fare including a selection of sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, salads, soups, chowder, kids menu, and dinner entrees (baked cod, salmon, steak tips, shepherds pie, eggplant parmesan). The full service bar offers 13 draft beers, bottle/can beers, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. The pricing seems fair. I stopped by Terry Brennan's Central Tavern over the weekend for a mid-afternoon meal. I was able to seat myself wherever I wanted, picking a regular table. I was given a plastic menu to look at and the server brought over ice water. I ordered the Fried Fish Sandwich with Fries ($13.95 plus tax) and a Bowl of Capt Parker's Clam Chowder ($8.95 plus tax), which came out together by request in about 10 minutes. The amount of food was generous. The sandwich had a hot crisp battered cod with tomato, romaine lettuce, & red onions on a grilled brioche bun. The golden steak fries were very hot, crisp outside, soft inside. The big bowl of chowder was thick & rich which had minced clams, potatoes, onion, cracked pepper in a creamy broth, oyster crackers on the side. I actually dipped some of the fries in the chowder too. After I was done, the server gave me the total on a portable Toast payment reader, no paper receipt given. I did pay cash, so they had to go back a make change. Overall, the food I had was excellent, a fried cod sandwich and thick clam chowder, my favorite pub staples on the Cape. read more

Visited from out of town on karaoke night; food was delicious, drinks delicious and well poured. Crowd was friendly and fun !

Just go back from eating there and have to say it might be the worst experience I have had on the cape in years. The food wasn't horrible, We started with a guahog which was excellent and then we ordered our main course, I had the beef stew which tasted like Dinti Moore beef stew and my wife got the fish sandwich which she said was very good. The bad part was we had to wait a very long time to get the food. The waitress even said I don't know why its taking do long for a stew and fish sandwich, I asked to speak with Terry Brennan and the waitress said she went and told him but he never showed up. This is the second time we have been there. the first time we waited so long for a server we walked out. Unless you have plenty of time to kill don't bother going. read more

I heard the pizza was very good here so friends an I went for pizza. The pizza thin crust was beyond thin 1/32 thick you couldn't pick it up it to put in your plate it was so thin. Had to slide it onto your plate and cut it with a knife an fork to eat it. The crust was tuff and chewy even though it was thin. Had very little tomato sauce I think they air brushed the sauce on it. I thought it was just my pizza but my friends said the same thing. I have not had any of the other food yet but I will try it to be fare. I like the place inside and the staff was nice. Great job with the renovation - inviting environment. However...Menu is very limited and overpriced. We had a chicken Caesar salad ($20) and a chicken ceasar wrap. The salad, which was the size of a side salad with a small amount of chicken, lacked enough dressing. Almost the same price as the huge Cobb Salad at the "chip" right down the road. Bartender was inattentive - with an empty bar. Customer service, or lack thereof, will grow or kill a business respectively. I would not count them out yet - maybe these are still start up issues. I am afraid, however. If these simple things are not addressed quickly, we will have yet another short term casualty in this location. read more

Well, the long awaited opening of what used to be the Sand Dollar restaurant on Rt 134 in S. Dennis, and is now Terry Brennan's Central Cafe finally happened a few weeks ago. We went to check things out on a very busy Friday night. A 10 minute wait at the door for a regular height table or booth gave us time to peruse the joint and see what changed. Apparently the addition of dark wood paneling on every wall, the bar and a new, permanent stage for music performances make this place look like an Irish Pub. Certainly the camaraderie of the patrons spoke more to that than the walls did for me. Terry is a big guy with a huge personality and gentleness in his smile that is welcoming and so friendly you want to hug him! I was impressed by his kind demeanor and his talent as a musician as well. The menu was very limited. Too much so imho. One can only hope they will be adding items as time goes on. I ordered the Guinness stew/soup to start. I sent it back. Heavily peppered and the ale was not cooked out properly. I then ordered the Shepherds pie with a side salad and hubby got a cheeseburger (no tomato or pickles, just onion, lettuce and mayo). It had tomato and a pickle on the side. No mayo on the table, the burger or with the server. Okay, they were extremely busy, no biggie! Halfway through eating it the mayo showed up! He said the burger was just okay. My salad was perfectly fine! The Shepherds pie should have been perfect for an Irish eatery. It was bland. The potatoes were not browned nor was it plated in a pleasing manner. But, I was starving and Im diabetic so I needed to eat. The hostess was very sweet, accommodating and chatty. She checked on us often! The manager came out when I complained about the stew, but she neglected to take that charge off the bill. We listened to Terry sing for a while, paid the bill without making a scene and left. I think we will wait awhile before we try going there again. Let them work out the details and get a foothold on this particular area. A few tweaks need to be made....like bigger and bolder signage so us old folks can read it driving by!! May the luck of the Irish be with you, Terry and crew!!! read more

First time being back in since the new owner. Sat at the bar and ordered a couple apps (potato skins with bacon and buffalo chicken tenders) Both were fantastic! The bartenders were very attentive and engaging with the customers. No time to stay for the entertainment (Terry himself!) but will definitely be back for that one. Went on st paddy's day parade in Yarmouth they were "at capacity"and there was a wait but we had 5 people the man at the door let in a couple of 2 in before us because they " knew danny" then 2 more people walked out and we were next I asked if 2 of us could go in he rudely said no I immediately questioned his math ability and he said we could leave and didn't want our business that they had plenty terrible experience they will never get my business and they shouldn't get yours! read more

Stopped by for a return visit with my wife and two friends for a quick lunch during the Patriots game on Sunday. Had a bowl of Capt Parker's chowder and I decided on just adding appetizers for me as we had dinner plans already wrapped up. I just stopped in with an old friend to check it out, we had already eaten lunch @ the scallop festival, but the menu looked amazing, with reasonable prices.We were greeted w/ the most welcoming staff, from the servers to the lovely hostess, we sat at the bar and had one drink, the bartender, Jen, was spot on, she was sincere and didn't mind when we said we were there for one drink. Our drinks were very reasonably priced.The bathrooms were extra clean and fresh smelling, all staff made positive eye contact, which made the atmosphere full of positivity.We felt so comfortable going into a place not knowing how it could be. Went for the first time this week. There were 4 of us. We got there right before Terry began his entertainment. We got a nice sampling from the menu, and overall the food was not a great hit. The fish sandwich was fantastic, with an ample fish portion, perfectly seasoned on a perfect bun, but served cold. The mix of Capt Parkers chowder and potato skins was satisfying. The baked Cod was miniscule, again served cold, and overall a disappointment. The Chicken Caesar salad was very good. We have heard that the pizza is quite good, so I might advise readers to maybe stick to that. Aside from the kitchen performance, I have to say that the service is exceptional, and it's clear that the staff knows what they're doing. The place is clean, set up with a nice mix of table and bar seating, and it's rte 134 location is perfect. Terry himself is such a good singer that it's worth the trip just to hear him. read more
