Simply stellar! I have been to one of the other Bobby Byrne's locations previously. This location, nestled in the heart of the Mashpee Commons, is absolutely charming. The menu is complete with starters (very generous portions), soups, salads, entrees ... so much to select from. We shared the pretzel with queso and the potato skins. Two of us had salads (very fresh and tasty). And the other person in our party chose the cheeseburger with onion rings. Service was amazing. We almost forgot it was the beginning of a holiday weekend. I highly recommend this restaurant. Specifically, this location. My experience definitely deserves more than five stars. read more

We had not been to Bobby Byrne's in at least 10 to 15 years, so when my wife suggested it for our usual Friday night dinner outing, I was excited to return. Although there was a short wait to be seated, it was less than three minutes, and we were quickly shown to a cozy corner table tucked away from the pub and the main dining area. Our waitress greeted us warmly and took our drink orders. I ordered a Blue Moon, while my wife tried their version of a margarita. The beer was enjoyable, but my wife was not a fan of her drink, as it lacked the traditional margarita flavor she was expecting. For dinner, I decided to try something new and ordered the traditional Reuben sandwich. The bread was nicely grilled, and although I am not usually a fan of pickled vegetables, the sauerkraut was actually quite good. Overall, the sandwich was enjoyable, though I felt it could have used a bit more corned beef. My wife ordered the chicken fajitas, but unfortunately, they were disappointing. The chicken was dry, and the dish overall missed the mark. As we were leaving, her final comment summed up the experience: "We probably would have had a better meal at the 99." His uncle crushed a burger with no complaints. I went seafood one last time before leaving the cape and got the crab cakes--portion was generous, but the outside was super thick and over-fried, more like a fritter than a delicate cake. Fries were solid--crispy and full of the "end of day" fry bits that are low-key delicious. The pasta salad surprised me--in a good way. I'm usually not a mayo fan, but it was light, flavorful, and loaded with veggies. Drinks were a bright spot--a solid mix of domestic and local drafts, and surprisingly decent wine options at great prices. I'd never been here before, but some local Cape friends consider it a favorite spot. To be honest, it was a bit underwhelming. I had the Friday Fish Fry special--a haddock sandwich with haddock chowder and macaroni salad. My sandwich was pretty good as far as the filet went, though the lettuce and tomato were limp and not entirely fresh. The chowder was thin and sort of flavorless. The macaroni salad wasn't a fav either. My friends seemed to enjoy their choices. Perhaps I just chose poorly. It wasn't super-crowded since we were there about 2:30pm. The bar seemed to have more action going on. I realize BB's is a pub, but for my dining dollars at Mashpee Commons, I prefer spending them at Estia or Siena. read more

First the pros: service is great, chicken bites are top notch. For a place that literally says they are an Irish pub, how can you: -Serve Guinness in a small, random glass (see picture). It's embarrassing that they don't serve a proper pint and pour in the correct manner. -No beef stew on the menu? -No Shepherd's pie either? Came here recently for lunch with my family, overall not terrible but nothing special. Service was excellent, definitely the highlight. Our waiter was super friendly and checked on us to make sure we had everything and food came out promptly. Food was ok, standard bar stuff. We got the pretzel to start which was fine, although the spicy cheese dip that came with it was an odd consistency. I got the chicken salad wrap which had little seasoning and some fatty pieces that are always a bummer when you bite into them. My husband got surf and turf, he said it was fine but his side veggies were overcooked. Probably best to keep it to a beer at this place, they do seem to be more of a bar than a restaurant. We asked how that could be this early in the evening; server pointed to a table of 7 indicating they had exhausted the supply. Chose alternatives but server returned to say The special could be prepared with only 2 of the 3 seafood items. No offer of discount. Bland dish of cod and beyond overcooked shrimp with side of carrots devoid of any butter, seasoning or flavor. Had to stand and go look for server to pay. Maybe this place is a victim of the post-pandemic syndrome or I am remembering it too fondly from the "before times" as a reliably cozy, comfortable spot with a solid menu...but my latest visit left a lot to be desired. We arrived a little before 9 pm on a Saturday night (albeit off season in mid November) and the main dining room was already closed. I would have thought it might be busy, but I think I understand now why it wasn't. We sat in the bar area where the music was loud and obnoxious and seemed to be chosen less to make us (a Boomer and a Gen Xer) feel welcome than to entertain the cluster of employees/friends of the bartender and waitress sitting at the bar. We actually requested a table away from a speaker, which might indicated to a staff at all concerned with the comfort of their customers that they ought to to turn it down, but...they didn't seem to be paying much attention. The food was okay, especially the cod and the chowder, We could have skipped the Mediterranean salad, which was Meh. Overall, the food was okay but the atmosphere and vibe were really disappointing. With so few choices in the area (even at the Mashpee Commons) it's too bad they don't make more of an effort to up their game...or at at least elevate it to where I recall it was for the past few decades. Needs better management? I feel like I overtipped and the waitress couldn't even be bothered to say "Thank you" when we left. read more

Well... Let's see. We had two friends come in from out of town and wanted to take them somewhere new to us for lunch. We were seated right away. The service was very good and attentive. Gluten free options?? Not so much. I ordered the baked scrod. It was served with rice and veggies. It was really good. Two of the guys ordered the lunch fried scallops and they all ordered the lunch special fish chowder. It was very good. We did have some problems with being over charged but it was cleared up. Place was very clean and the waitstaff was friendly and efficient. The food was good and good value for money. It was not British at all (which we thought it might be based on the name). The place seemed really family friendly for family's with kids (several tables had children under age 10). Servers spend way to much time chit chatting amongst them selves and ignoring the clientele. We had an extremely disappointing visit a few weeks ago when we came with a few friends. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and was actually rude when my husband asked about gluten free options. She retorted that they are a pub and don't have anything except salads. My husband asked if they could at least do grilled steak and she said yes. My husband commented to one of his friends about her response and she tried to cover herself blaming the chef for not wanting to do gluten free options. Getting past that, I ordered buffalo boneless wings and sweet potato fries, the fries were amazing and portion was huge highly recommend, hence the 2 stars. But one of our friends didn't get an item he ordered, I had to ask for my sauce I ordered and we had to request water refills they weren't given. Thhe restaurant wasn't very busy and we were mostly disappointed due to the waitress. I think there are other options we'd try over coming back. read more

So disappointed in what Bobby Byrnes has turned into. It feels like new management, maybe? We have been going to Bobby Byrnes for 15+ years, but hadn't been there in the last 2 years until this past weekend. We always ordered the Turkey Club - come to find out, it's off the menu, along with several other classics (buffalo wings) and replaced with overpriced and poor quality items. The Turkey Club is now a Turkey BLT wrap which is a TINY Turkey wrap with a massive plate full of fries. What happened to the old Bobby Byrnes?! Sadly, the service has gotten so bad I will not be returning. Went on a Wednesday afternoon and they wouldn't seat anyone because "the kitchen was backed up" WTF? We waited then decided to leave. Two other parties left as well. On a recent visit I noticed how high the prices have gotten as well. I don't mind paying if the foods good but it was just ok. Just left Bobby's, had some great chowder and the burger with swiss, mushrooms, tomatoes and fries. It was to die for. Juicy, tender and the roll was so fresh it was delectable. The service was wonderful, from the moment I was greeted by the Hostess and showed to my table to meet a friend. Our waitress was delightful, so efficient and personable, I was never without my water being filled and asked if there was anything else we needed. Then she didn't seem happy that we just wanted water and one iced tea. Now for the food - it had little or no flavor - i got the special haddock chowder - basically fish in hot milk. This is a popular place with the retired folks on the Cape. We come here a lot with my parents. It's basically just your standard pub fare, but the fish is very fresh and the prices are quite reasonable. They run some deals that are tough to beat during the off-season. My mom and I both typically order the baked scrod and it never disappoints- very fresh fish coated in a buttery cracker topping with rice pilaf and the vegetable of the day. My dad's a big fan of their turkey club with the sweet potato fries. Others in my family swear by their Reuben. The salads are a bit lack-luster but everything else that we've had there has been consistently good. They get really busy on the weekends, especially in the summer but there outdoor seating area helps with the overflow. read more

I took my daughter to the Bobby Byrnes in Mashpee Commons. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. I ordered a lobster roll. It came with a choice of pasta or chowder. I asked for the chowder and I got both! The chowder was good. The pasta salad was nice because it had fresh dill in it. It added a surprisingly pleasant flavor. The lobster roll wasn't the traditional lobster roll that everybody knows and expects. You know the one on a New England hot dog roll. This lobster roll was on a bun the size of a slider. It was very small. I was crestfallen when the server put it in front of me. If they want to serve a lobster roll that size, they should not call it a lobster roll. It's not a lobster roll. I came here for a Monday dinner. They had a Monday night special and all burgers are half price. I ordered Cajun Byrne Burger. I asked the server if it was very spicy and he said no. Burger came typically comes with fries which I didn't have an appetite for. I asked what I could get instead of fries. There was a wide range of sides I was able to choose from and chose broccoli slaw. The burger was huge and juicy. It really wasn't too spicy for me so it was good. I wanted a cup of chowder and sandwich to go. I called their number, but no one answered. I drove to Mashpee commons and it was absolutely bonkers to park. Once I found the place, I asked to the food to go and the lady at the kiosk responded," we are so short staffed we're not doing "to-go" orders." Oooof...well..ok. Apologies that you're short staffed, but bottom line, I wasn't able buy food from there. I understood but was not pleased because when it comes down to it, I didn't eat their food. We ate at the Mashpee Commons location for lunch and were able to sit outside because of the nice weather. However, the hostess said we were not allowed to sit at the high top tables (which were in the sun), because if we ate there, other people would want to eat there too. That makes no sense! Most of the other tables were in part shade, and we did not want to be cold. One couple even moved to the high top to get away from some dogs. But the hostess came out and made them move to another table inside. Makes no sense! The hostess told us we couldn't sit there, because there was only one server for outdoors. Makes no sense! Steak tips were char-broiled a little too much for my liking but very tasty & cooked perfectly. French fries were delicious- nice and hot and crunchy outside. Broccoli was very fresh and cooked perfectly, not too crunchy as I sometimes find in restaurants. 2 others also got steak tips with mashed. Agreed they were very tasty. Fish & Chips - great! Awesome coleslaw. Tuesday night & there were only a few other parties in the restaurant. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly and had a nice sense of humor. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and everything was as it should be. I was surprised that the average review was only 3 stars. I've been here several times in the past and always had a good experience. I can understand if some of the recent reviews mention short staffed since everyone is short staffed now. Went to BBs twice this week. Saturday night was crazy busy. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for a table. Great service. Table ready. Sit down, review menu and order. Haddock chowder, salad, fried calamari and two burgers. Orders came out in the correct sequence. Apps then burgers. Everything was great. Calamari is perfectly cooked and hot. Looked appealing. Burgers juicy and cooked the way we ordered them. Wednesday, son and daughter-in-law join is. I highly recommend Bobby Byrnes. Get seated right away. No waiting. Not very busy. What a mistake. We order four cups of clam chowder, one calamari, and four entrees. Long wait time. Out comes three chowders. Now you know this is already prepared and just sitting in a pot so why does that t take so long? At last the fourth chowder comes along with the calamari and three of the entrees. Not four. Try the calamari. Cold, inedible and then it looks like it has been hanging around for a while. Couldn't eat it. Send it back and ask that it be removed from the bill. Then we wait and wait for the fourth entree. Waiter says it will only be a few more minutes. Told us this twice. When i sought him out to ask a third time, he gets a little indignant and tells again it will be a few minutes. Probably waited 20 more minutes for the last entree. What happened? Beats me. How long does it take to cook a piece of scrod? My bet, the order got dropped. Probably won't be going back. read more
