I love Terry's! The staff has taken great care of me every time I've come in, which always makes the experience even better. The karaoke is such a fun highlight, and the sound system actually sounds really good when you're up there singing--which isn't always the case at bars. The drinks are super affordable, and there's plenty to do between pool and darts, so it's easy to hang out for a while without getting bored. I've also tried the pizza, and honestly, it was surprisingly good for bar food. The bathrooms can be a little sketch at times, but that kind of comes with the dive bar territory. I went here for several months, got 86'd because I "never really bought anything" despite buying a drink every time i was there for months until this decision. I also got 86'd because of something my friends did that I had nothing to do with and "hustling drinks from other people" (which makes zero sense, people are allowed to buy eachother drinks). The crowd is also absolutely awful. I got threatened by someone and one of the male bartenders passed it off as a joke. Wouldn't even come back if I wasn't 86'd anymore. It's that bad. read more

Ya this place is pretty rad and if you have driven by Terry's too many times and not stopped, like myself. It is time to stop making excuses and just go. The drinks are strong and affordable. The drink keepers are spunky, fun, and on-top of their games. Pull up a pool cue or pull up a big table and plop down. You can expect to do some serious people watching, some serious dancing, some serious singing (karaoke), some serious socializing, and maybe some serious drinking. Terry's on State Street is the dive spot for a great time, especially if you have a big group of friends! As a downtowner, I don't often go out to bars that aren't in walking distance from me. I recently made an exception for a friend's birthday- who they actually live in the area so it worked out great for them! We reserved a large table for the night to drink and karaoke our hearts out. The drinks were very reasonably priced- way cheaper than any bar downtown. At the end of the night, I think our tab of about 5 drinks was only $37! For Karaoke, they don't have a book of songs to choose from- so I'm pretty sure just about any song they'll find for you! You write your name(s), the artist and song title you want to sing on a small piece of paper that they have on a table by the DJ booth. They have 2 mics so you can duet with a friend! Folks here are generally very non-judgmental, so after a few cheap drinks - you'll be ready to sing! Other cool features about Terry's is that it has pool tables and also lottery scratch card machines. A friend of mine bought $15-20$ worth of scratch cards once here and we all got to scratch some off - none of us won anything though :( They also have a patio smoking area out back with heaters for the winter cold. I parked my truck in the parking lot across from the coffee shop. The establishment wasn't even open yet and the "manager" came out aggressive and very rude. I asked him he was the owner and he said no he was a manager. I simply parked across the street from the coffee shop to run into go grab a cup of coffee. There's no sign saying that you cannot park there there's no signs saying that you need to park a certain direction. And then right as soon as I got into my truck to leave somebody else pulled up and parked right in front of the door which would be more of it obstruction than where I have my truck. He was a very rude and very aggressive. I am currently trying to get a hold of the owner of the establishment to discuss this. Very unprofessional and unsettling as I did nothing wrong. read more

I really love this bar! first off, they have drink specials every single night. it's posted behind the bar. monday night is craft beer night- $3 all night. one night it's $3 fireball shots. one night it's $5 whiskey. they have some really great deals! second, they have karaoke every single night of the week. and bonnie is actually really nice and the equipment works super well and she has a gigantic selection of songs. third, the bartenders are actually genuinely friendly. not that fake crap you see from somewhere fancy where they are just looking for tips. within the 2nd time of me coming in here they knew my name and my order and were super nice to me. you can't beat that kind of service. this will probably be my bar forever and ever now, when I want to go out for a drink. I love this place! plenty of parking and they even have $8 pizzas if you get hungry (schwans!). you can't go wrong with terry's! perfect little neighborhood bar! read more

Terry's is the local watering hole for me. I've lived in the area for less than a year and have been here plenty of times. It's an eclectic place. You get bikers. You get trannies and gays once in a while. You get creepy old men. You get 20 and 30 somethings singing karaoke. You can talk drunk politics with a random stranger. All walks of life congregate here. This is the ONLY bar I will go to for my karaoke fix. Great people, excellent bartenders, voted best karaoke in Boise several years running! If you like to sing, this is where you should go! I travel for work and like to go to karaoke bars in the towns i visit. I found this on yelp and decided to check it out. The good thing about this place is that the drinks were cheap and the people were friendly. But this was far and above the worst karaoke experience ive ever had. I got to the bar around 945 and sang at about 1015. Kj seemed nice, had a good voice when harmonizing with me, but his rotation was horrible. Every person who came into the bar sang before i ever had a chance to sing a secong song. Finally after 2 and a half hours of waiting and listening to people sing who were at home when i put in my 2nd song, i left. I will not be going back to this bar ever again, just the worst organization of rotation and obvious favorites. No thank you. read more
