When we got there they asked us to wait about fifteen minutes which made us short on time. My nails were rushed. They then charged me twice for my nails and when I called to let them know they said it will take a week to get back into my account. It ended up taking over a month. Don't go here! read more

This is one of the best places I've ever walk-in gotten my nails done. The staff is so nice here and I felt the price was very good for the level of service and complexity of the pedicure. I got and exfoliating pedicure for 35 dollars and it was 45 minutes of really nice pampering, including a calf massage, calf body-scrub, and hot stone massage. My daughter and I visited this salon for the first time Saturday, Oct. 8. I called earlier in the week and made what I thought was an appointment for that time. There were four people there in the middle of their manicures and pedicures and only 3 people working. We had to wait. While we were waiting at least 6 more people came in and were waiting, too. A 4th worker finally showed up while we were leaving. They could have easily kept 6 people busy. I don't like salons that lead you to believe you have made an appointment when they don't work by an appointment book. I will return to my favorite salon on NE Broadway. read more

I'm visiting from out of state and was desperate to find someone who could do a silk wrap fill. After calling many shops, I called Terwilliger and talked to Mai who assured me she does silk and gave me an appointment right away. Mai did a fabulous job on my nails which were in horrible shape from 3 weeks of camping. I plan to have her do a pedicure and one more fill before leaving but will be back every summer. read more

I got a full set, pedicure, and brows, and all services were excellent. The pedicure massage was divine. Thanh is very professional and was careful and precise. Best nail salon around or in Multnomah village. Mai did a beautiful job on my nails. Not only did she fix a horrid job the shop I had gone yo prior did (hillsdale nails and spa) she took her time and kept me informed with every step she took, to make sure I left happy. I will definetly be returning. I have tried numerous shops all over portland including, vienna nail salon, perfect solar nails, Hillsdale nails, i love nails and spa as well as Broadway nails. I normally don't like to leave a bad review, but after my last three visits I feel compelled to do so. I have been going to Terwilliger Nails for a year and half now and they used to be wonderful. Not so much anymore. A few months ago I had them wax my brows just like I normally do. When she was done she handed me a mirror and I immediately noticed that she had waxed one significantly shorter and thinner than the other. When I asked if she could match them up she told me that they looked fine to her but *insert heavy sigh* the customer is always right and she would be happy to take more off... No thank you! First off, the table they have you lay on for waxing is in a corner up against two walls leaving her to stand off to the side to do the waxing. Maybe they did look even while standing off to the side, but looking straight on they were awful. It took two months for my brows grow enough to get them even and the same length. I will never go there again for waxing. I came in a few weeks later for a pedi and they had a new girl do the pedi. She cut some skin off several toes causing them to bleed. When it came time for the polish she didn't apply it evenly and there were noticeably bare spots on three toes (including both big toes). The reason I go to the salon for pedicures is that I do a terrible job painting my own nails, but I could have done it much better myself this time. Fast forward to today, I got a fill and a pedi and had a different lady do the pedi. The pedi was a little on the painful side (can't they tell when they are cutting off live skin???) and caused bleeding again but at least the polish looks good. The fill is quite possibly the worst fill I've had in YEARS. Thankfully he didn't take off any skin and leave me bloody like they've been doing lately, but that and the hand massage were the only things good about the fill. The nail shape is terrible. When he asked how long I like them I advised that I like them short as I use a keyboard all day long. He said he wanted to leave them a little longer because it looks better with a French manicure, I said I need them to be short for work. He still left them longer than I repeatedly asked for and instead of a nice square shape they are squared on one side of the nail and round on the other.. Next come the polish for the French manicure... It looks TERRIBLE. The white polish comes up significantly higher on one side if the nail than the other, I'd much thinner on some nails than others and there is so much polish under my nails! When I asked him if he would mind cleaning it up (I thought he had just mistakenly missed a step) he told me to go home and take a shower and it would come off... Seriously!?! Go home and take a shower to get the polish off my skin/out from under my nails!?! I would think it would be reasonable to expect that your nails look nice when leaving the salon WITHOUT having to require an immediate shower after! read more

I'm currently searching yelp for a new nail salon in Washington, DC to fill the void of Terwilliger nails. The atmosphere, services, and price of Terwilliger Nails makes this place a special treat. Thieu and Tracey were always so eager to chat about school, their children, upcoming weekend plans, and were able to provide a very unique sense of inclusion. Usually they'll offer a beer, tea, wine--once even a margarita. However one day when I was in there, one of the employees was making a Starbucks run, and asked myself and the other customers what he could bring them back. Once, I brought my boyfriend along for a pedicure, he was visibly very nervous and a little off-put. They pampered him to the point that he was craving another visit: hot stone massage, paraffin, foot/leg/shoulder massage--and they charged me next to nothing for the whole experience. I have never had a gel manicure last as long as the ones I received at Terwilliger Nails. They've frequently accepted my roommates and I running in fifteen minutes before close, or on a daring trip rushed between classes. They are constantly getting in new colors, and have a great memory for the taste of each of their clients--I almost exclusively let Thieu or Tracey pick the polish colors towards the end of my year-long patronage. I started going to this nail salon for a few reasons...my girlfriend had gone and said she liked it, my normal salon had been very lackluster lately and I live about a 1/2 mile away. I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality and service here! The salon isn't the cutest one I've been too - but its very very clean and everyone person that works there is very friendly and nice. The owner is so sweet and easy to chat with. And most importantly, definitely one of the best and longest lasting manicures/pedicures I have found in all of Portland. My shellac will stay on for a solid 3 weeks with literally NO peeling - such a relief after the last few times I've gone to other salons and they barely lasted two weeks! My only feedback is they are often under staffed, so definitely make an appointment or plan to have them tell you to come back in an hour or two. I've usually made it work by going grocery shopping or something, but can be kind of annoying when it's Sunday and they only have two people working. read more

First time going here was lunch time on a Wednesday. Loved it. Clean, quiet and comfortable. A few mani stations and ~6 big comfy pedi chairs. Lots of parking outside. Shellac manicure is $25 so a bit cheaper than a lot of places. My gal, Christine, was so sweet, and I really appreciated her attention to detail. Best shellac mani I've had in Portland, and I've been to a ton of places (especially in the SW). Glad this place is across the street from my neighborhood! read more

I got a set of acrylic nails and they came out beautiful! The original polish I picked was too sheer so she helped me find another neutral/nude color that worked. I also had my eyebrows waxed and that was definitely the best part. Thanh is much better than the Brow Bar I go to and the service is much cheaper here. I am visiting from Virginia and was looking for a place to get a pedicure. Saw this place and had my brother drop me off. They took me right away and I couldn't be happier with the experience. They made me feel so welcome and comfortable right away. I got the 60 minute pedicure which included a hot stone massage, hot wax, steamy towels and lots of pampering, not to mention an excellent nail job! I believe it was Tracie who did my toes..I am bad at remembering names. When I was finished, I was supposed to call my brother so that he could pick me up, but I realized I didn't have my phone or his phone number. They went out of their way to help me get in touch with him, and even offered to drive me to his house if I couldn't get him on the phone. I will definitely return every time I am in town and hope that others will support this place. Customer service is so rare, but important, and they get an A+++. This was my second time at this business. The first time was pretty good, the owner is very sweet and I did not have any complaints about the service so I came back. It was a different technician who did my nails (a younger woman). I could tell there was a big difference between her and the owner. When I called she (the younger woman) said that they do not take walk ins, but she said she was willing to take me. When I entered I noticed a big sign "walk ins welcome" so I don't understand our telephone exchange. I was given less than 2 minutes to choose colors and felt rushed. Overall service I received was not as good as the one that I previously received from the owner. I got gel nails because I was promised they will last longer and that's why it's more expensive. Also, when I went to pay, they do not allow you to do a customized tip, there is option of no tip (which I did not want to do) or 20%, 25%, 30%. I felt that was too much, I would give that only for really good service, which I did not get. They really need an option of custom tip. But I did not want to leave without a tip, so I opted for one of the %. Just 4 days later and one nail and half of other was gone! In about a week, I had 6 nails gone. I called there multiple times asking to speak to the owner about the service I received. I was speaking each time speaking with the technician who did my nails. First time she hung up on me. Next several times I asked her if she could have the owner call me, I left my information and I was promised that the owner would call me that same day, however, I did not receive any calls from the owner.
