Turns out our dog was having an allergic reaction, they gave her a steroid shot and she was quickly much better. We are so grateful for Dr Kuiper and his vet team! ORIGINAL: I have been through 4(!!) vets in the last 10 years living in SE Michigan. It's not that I'm picky, I just love my dog very much and know what I want and don't want. Dr Kuiper at Macomb Center Vet is top tier! The whole vet team is wonderful really! Dr Kuiper takes lots of time to explain things well, answering all questions GENUINELY. He doesn't push unnecessary RX or procedures. BUT, he's willing to discuss and listen, and ultimately do whatever is best for you and your pet. No money grab here. No fear mongering here. They were quick to respond to my email inquiries, honest with their costs and procedures (which were very fair), and setting up an initial appointment was simple. You can book an appointment using their online portal, or call/contact them directly. They had a good range of available booking slots, and we were able to set one up within a very reasonable time frame. The Family Paws Veterinary Clinic was easy to find, it's located in the corner spot of the strip mall, found at 22 mile and VanDyke Rd; so there is plenty of parking. The front of the Clinic is full windows, and the interior was neat, clean and organized. The staff greeted me immediately, and were great with my 9 week old pup. From the quaint waiting area up front, you could clearly view the unisex restroom and a couple exam rooms to the left, while there were more exam rooms around a corner at the other side. My pup and I were brought to our room after a short wait, everything there was also well cleaned and organized, and my appointment ran perfectly on time. From the techs, to the vets, to the reception, all of the staff were friendly, polite and professional. I felt comfortable with my pet in their care. At the end, check out was easy with a clear receipt of what procedures occurred. I am also happy to report a quick response to a lab that had been sent out for testing; I recieved a phone call with the results in less than two days. Overall, I'm very happy with my selection of Family Paws as our new Veterinary Clinic, and we have already booked our pup's next appointment with them.

Despite having a bad diagnosis for my cat, I felt very educated and heard 100% by the doctor. I never felt rushed, and appreciated his honesty and advice. Side note-They are also extremely reasonable on pricing- for the exam, basic bloodwork(blood sugar test/kidney test), an x-ray and meds was only around $250. I've had several situations that made me uncomfortable and ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. For example, during one visit a vet strongly promoted a product while mentioning their student loan burden. After a surgery, a stitch was left in place; when I brought it up, the way the situation was addressed left me feeling blamed rather than supported. I've also felt pressured toward additional procedures that didn't seem medically necessary for my pet at the time. Lastly, I noticed a big change in my dog's behavior during our visits. She would begin shaking the moment we pulled into the Creekside parking lot. She has never reacted this way at any other vet or location. She's normally a very confident, relaxed dog, so seeing her shake like that was heartbreaking. It was another sign to me that this wasn't the right environment for her. I understand that every clinic has its own approach, but based on my experiences, Creekside is not for me.

My cat stopped eating again and I took her to another vet who charged me $240 to diagnose that she had a fatty liver and a life-threatening liver issue, I can't remember the exact term was. He said had I brought the cat in sooner he could have done something, but now the best thing to do is to put her to sleep. This veterinarian at Pets Ahoy charged almost $900, and KILLED MY CAT. Had I gone to a real veterinarian that cared less about money and more about the animal my cat would have been properly diagnosed at less cost and I would not be setting an appointment right now to put her to sleep. Dr Williams whom built this practice on morals, ethics, and care has retired and sold this practice to a man that wishes to drive a Bentley. He did nothing to build this practice or its reputation, he bought it and I was completely blindsided when he walked into the door for my cats original appointment. Nobody notified me that this practice now belonged to someone else. I was pushed into a corner where my cat was not eating and I was now at a veterinarian that I did not know but knew that she needed help fast. I would have never have gone there had I been notified and given the opportunity to look on the internet and find all the negative reviews of this man. We've had to take our dogs here twice for eating things they aren't supposed to. They are beagles so it's a battle. Once it was chocolate. They induced vomiting, and we went home. It didn't take long. The second appointment was rough. My dog ate a bottle of my medication. He was having very scary symptoms, but they triaged him to a lower level when another dog came in with seizures. We were there around 6-8 hours, and they ended up keeping our pup overnight for observation and to give iv rx. It was really hard to be in the exam room for so long when given no information and worrying if our dog was going to die. I eventually assumed, well I guess he's going to live, if they are letting us sit around in the room this long without seeing the doctor. In the end, they have taken great care of our dogs and have to triage based on the volume and lack of any other hospital nearby. The price they quoted actually ended up being less than expected, and they refunded us money back. It's clear they care about people and pets.

I came here late one night in January (around 10/11pm) after noticing discomfort in my cat, she had been dealing with kidney disease for a few years, and decided it was time to let her go. I was lucky to arrive with only myself in the lobby which I'm sure was in the benefit for me and my cat. The space that was provided for me and my cat for our last moments were calm, peaceful, and quiet. The room was dim with a nice couch and a water fountain to fill the silence. We were provided as much time as i needed to spend with her before starting the treatment. I felt no rush whatsoever. For anyone who would rather give there dog or cat a peaceful transition into the afterlife instead of a typical vet office room, i would highly recommend this place just based of the ambiance and time that was given to me and my cat. I appreciate this place alot for my last moments with my beloved cat ;)

My baby went peacefully on 3/2/2025 after dealing with many health issues including kidney, liver, heart and gum disease.
