I can't say enough about my experience with SolarCity in Fort Worth. From the sales people to the site surveyor to the installers, the entire process was seamless and quick. Leasing didn't make any sense to me so I purchased the system. With their solar loan program interest was 2.99% for 10 years. No money out-of-pocket either. The cost of the system is being paid for by a combination of the tax credit (the government's gift to me) and what I'm paying to TU Electric currently. The small difference in what I'm paying is to the billing company (MP2), but that rate is no higher than the one I had with TU Electric. As to their professionalism, I can't say enough here either. Everybody was polite and respectful. I felt no pressure during the process and I was offered all types of assistance in maneuvering through the electronic paperwork process. The sales people were always there to answer question and still are, even after the installation was completed. The system was installed last Friday. The installers were right on time. The crew leader introduced himself to me and then introduced his entire crew to me by name. They even offered me some of the breakfast they brought along. I watched the entire installation and asked questions and took photos along the way. They were quick to explain what and why they were doing things. They installed the free Nest thermostat which was difficult due to the wiring configuration of my dual stage heat pump. But they got it right and it also works flawlessly. They cleaned up and were gone...other than the panels on the roof, the inverter and emergency shut off near the meter, you wouldn't have even known they were there. I'm sorry to hear that some of the reviews are less than favorable, but truthfully my experience with SolarCity was completely the opposite. I have Tesla panels via solar city. They stopped working and the response from Tesla is terrible. It takes months to get an appt via Tesla app. After waiting months for an appt my account was deleted from the app and there is no way to contact anyone for support. The phone and website all refer you to articles. The app has no way to contact support. The Tesla dealer can only send an email and the Tesla energy location is now closed. Why would anyone trust the brand Tesla with this level of service. Sure glad I never purchased their cars. You cannot contact Tesla energy via phone, app, Chat or email. Finding it odd to see poor reviews here on Yelp (some from the previous decade!) as our experience has been the opposite. Our original system was a SolarCity installation back in 2013, over a decade ago. When Tesla took over everything was working well, but over the next several years our system began to have some issues due to rodent damage. THANKFULLY, this is covered by Tesla and all of our panels were replaced with no issue and at no expense to us or our insurance company. (Side benefit: they've learned a few things over the years. The new panels sit MUCH closer to the roof and have a nice skirt to keep rodents out:-) Soon thereafter we found out that our original inverters (like most, apparently) had a lifespan of about 9 to 10 years: the replacements were ALSO COVERED 100% under Tesla's 20-year warranty. Sadly, however, their supplier for the original inverters (Aurora) was having significant issues with quality in their factory-rebuilt inverters. I sent an email off to Tesla advising that both of our replacement inverters weren't working well and Tesla stepped up: they apologized for their supplier's issues and replaced our two Aurora inverters with a brand new Tesla-built inverter that was far more attractive, with a smaller footprint, yet more powerful! In closing, while we have had issues over time (to be expected with a system over a decade old), Tesla Energy stepped up and solved them every time, without issue. The only negative is that much of this took place during COVID so there were some delays in the process, but overall we are completely satisfied with our Tesla Energy solar panels and the massive power they produce. (They have paid for themselves many times over--I tell people they just sit there and print money for us:-) p.s. One last thing: note that if you decide to get solar panels from "Joe Shmoe and Sons Solar Company," you may find yourself in a bind. Years later, with a lot of warranty issues, yet trying to find a small company that no longer exists--that could result in many thousands of dollars in repair costs that should have been "ZERO/WARRANTY COVERED REPAIR." It is far, far better to go with a company like Tesla that will be around for decades or centuries to come as then a 20-, 25-, or 30-year warranty is actually worth something . . . . read more

How do you get Tesla to help with my solar panels. I email and never a response. They used to have an office in Irving Texas. Now they are stationed in arizona. My 80 panels are producing energy for the grid. I do not get any excess power. I am in Euless and very dissatisfied with the Tesla. I can never get anyone from this company to reach out to help me. How you get anyone from this company to help me. Think wisely before getting soloar panels installed. The grid gets your extra energy production. No Solar credits. I had solar city install forty five panels on my roof. It took months for them to complete this install. I have called and called tesla and emailed. no one response . Freedom solar panels installed more panels and turned off the solar city Tesla panels. I have been called since January 8th, 2022 I have sent hundreds of email. Tesla will not contact me back The installer and sales person and his manager were fired. They went to Freedom forever solar . They were the same staff from solar city. I have 87 panels on my room and my electric bill is more than when I installed the panels. No one will contact me. I hate that I fell for this spill of not having an electric bill. The Irving office is not work. They are based out of state. Be very careful when working with both companies I have given up tesla installed and will not help a year i have been working to get a real person to check my panels in Euless Texas and tesla is not helping me i have left a few reviews still no response from Tesla read more

Since I have to leave a star... I rather leave ZERO Everything the bad ones said below is true... I had no issues when it was under Solar City. Tesla decided I needed an upgrade but was on a waiting list for 1.5 years. Finally, November 2020 my lucky day came up..no notice. Well.. long story short. My roof was damaged.. their customer service refuses to work with us. My original panels are gone and now have panels sitting in my backyard. THEY SUCK!! read more

I will start by saying that their end product is working just fine. It's getting here and also dealing with their customer service that has been an issue. And one of the biggest problems is the fact that they admittedly bait and switched me into a contract. I have recordings of our conversations of how things would be handled and they had me sign an agreement and then changed things in my final contract. Admittedly I should have questioned more things but they agree they swindled me but don't care and have no intentions on changing their positions. Buyer be very careful! For anyone thinking of leasing from Solar City, please read your contract before signing. Sales person will not disclose that a 2.9% increase per kw-hr each year for 20 years during their sales pitch. During signing, sales person will mention there is a 2.9% increase but will neglect that it applies every year. A 10 cent per kw-hr on year 1 will be 17.2 cent per kw-hr in year 20. once a contract is signed, there is no renegotiating and to get out of contract, homeowner will need to sell their home and the poor buyer will get stuck with the original contract. read more

I HIGHLY recommend you find solar somewhere else. Tesla has the absolute WORSE customer service. You can't get a hold of anyone. If you do ever reach someone they NEVER help and NEVER respond in a reasonable amount of time. Our original contract was with Solar City and we got screwed when Tesla bought them/converted them to be under Tesla's umbrella. It took jumping through a ridiculous amount of hoops to get them to remove the panels from our roof to have a new roof installed and now they won't put the panels back on our roof for six months. Mind you they are still billing us for panel rental while the panels sit stacked on the side of the house basically blocking access to our backyard. They placed them there because they said they would be back within a couple of weeks of the new roof being completed. It's been 3-4 weeks since that time and they just informed us they will return in the middle of April 2021 to install the panels. Un-freaking-believable!!!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Seriously! Find ANYONE else to get solar panels from. You will regret using Tesla! Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but the day will come when you will get completely screwed by Tesla. (This is just this part of the experience. For months before this we have been having serious issues with the panels producing consistently and I can't get ANYONE to come out and figure out why you can stand and watch one inverter drop off completely on production in the middle of a completely sunny day without a cloud in the sky. I despise this company. Our rate is .0802/Kwh, a rate that is very close to the nominal rate charged by an electrical carrier. Although we have a fixed rate for twenty years I have seen where they are now including escalation charges in their contracts. Solar power has seen dramatic decreases in their costs due to innovation. There is no provision to enhance our home with the lowered costs associated with the new innovations. I would never use this company if I had the opportunity of choice again. They have been offering a 250.00 bonus for getting people to sign up with them. We purchase our Tesla solar system and had it installed in December 18. Unfortunately our experience after installation has been and continues to be a nightmare. Tesla shut our system down for maintenance months ago and didn't tell us what the issue was. After weeks of trying to get an answer I was told squirrels had damaged some of the wires and they would have to take the panels off to repair. Two months later and I'm still trying to get it scheduled with Tesla informing me I had a form to fill out and now they are mentioning me reroofing my house (with no inspection yet). My roof is fine and no issues have been reported. So I have a repair crew saying they will come out in two more months to take the panels off and back a month later to reinstall for a cost of 1800 out of pocket. I'm still trying to relay to them the true issue. Terrible! Will update this if they make it right. As of now, I am looking at paying for both my full electric bill and solar payments well into next year because of this. read more

I have gone green, and everything was seamless. I met with my consultants twice, and spoke to them over the phone many times, but they took care of all the paperwork and permits. they basically did everything for me which was nice. I didn't have to pay anything for the panels, and I just purchase my power from them. I switched from Just energy who I had no complaints about, but Solar City gave me a better rate, and I even got a cool nest thermostat. I spreadsheet all my bills and I paid 30% less this June compared to last June. One happy Customer! The one drawback is the process takes a few months to get installed , apparently because of all the permits and such. I guess good things take time. read more

SolarCity installed my panels in May, 2014 in one day with crew of 5 or 6. Panels have produced projected kWh and saved us substantially. We took 20 year pre-paid option, paying 3.9 cents per kWh versus the 7.9 cents per kWh monthly pay option these alternatives are essentially break even alternatives so I consider I'm getting my SolarCity energy at 7.9 cents per kWh with no monthly invoices, fees, taxes or Oncor delivery fees. This versus 9.0 to 16.0 with alternatives makes me very satisfied economically. I have received what was promised with easy sales and installation process and prompt, helpful customer service. read more

Solar panels were installed shortly after Tesla bought Solar City. It took some time to get the panels turned on but once that happened, the electric bill went down enough to cover the cost of the panels. The bill also leveled out meaning the price per month varied far less than it used to. The second year, MP2 (The electric provider) changed their billing and in months when the panels produce excess energy, MP2 still sends a bill! They get free electricity which they sell to your neighbors and MP2 charges you for giving them your excess power! In 2018, if a roof needed to be replaced, Teslas contract was to remove and reinstall panels for $500 and they would store the panels. That has changed. This week, they said it would cost $6100 to remove and reinstall the panels and the panels would be stored onsite. While insurance may cover part or all of that cost, what you lose in your electric bill if you reroof even once will wipe out any cost savings you get from going solar. They do increase their lease pricing every year and the panels lose efficiency meaning they will not produce as much power next year as they do this year. You pay more and get less! Solar is good as a solution to reduce pollution but it will cost you more in the long run unless you happen to be in a place where local Government or electric providers will cover part of the cost for installation. read more

I was thrilled to be able to get solar panels for my home! The initial part was fine, it only took a couple of weeks and the panels were on the house. But I have now waited over 4 months and the panels are still not turned on! I have contacted Solar City several times and finally got the answer as to why... they lost my last paperwork and the time expired! So okay, send me a new set. They did and I signed it the day I received it. (a week ago) It has not been signed by the other two entities that need signatures. I'm really tired of all this. Never Lease a system! You will have to pay Solar City and your MP2 bill. I wish I could get out of a lease and buy a system not from Solar City! It took over 3 months for my system to be installed and turned on. Customer service is horrible and when you need anything what you have to call an 800# and I don't even feel like anyone is local. It took a long time from the time we 1st contacted solar city to get our system. Not their fault....oncor didn't give them enough monies initially. Once they finally got the other financing things moved along pretty quickly. They were really nice, throughout & kept us in the loop of what was going on. I will be 64 years-old in a month and leasing from Solar and leasing from SOLARCITY was the WORSE DECISION OF MY LIFE!! I Can't tell you how disappointed I am with this purchase - SolarCity lied to me over and over again. I was SO STUPID by signing that contract. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR PRODUCTS. You need to run far away from this company. One lie I was told by the in house rep was that my electric company would give me a check for any unused electricity I didn't recoup during a stated 12-month period. When I called the electric company I was told he was definitely wrong - I lose what I don't use. BUYER BEWARE!! I was saddened that I had to even give one star - if there was an option for zero that would have been checked! I feel completely helpless and frustrated. Like I said: WORSE DECISION OF MY LIFE!! My husband and I recently had solar panels installed on our home in Cedar Hill, TX and used SolarCity after much research. From the very beginning of the process, the staff at SolarCity has been super helpful and very friendly. Their informative on-site reps were professional and courteous throughout the process, even though they DID say that our roof was one of the steepest they've ever had to be on! :) We are excited to be 'going green-er' and even more excited that SolarCity is getting up there.
