The staff here is knowledgeable and was able to get me into both a Model 3 and Y for test drives. They're only 30 minutes, and that goes by fast so you have to pay attention. They canceled my order of the Launch Edition Model Y with no remedy for the fact that it would cost me an additional $2000 to get what I would've gotten in the car I had already ordered. Amazing team working at this Tesla location! The cars look and drive on another level. The future of vehicles at middle class prices! I stopped in to check out and test drive the Tesla 3. The showroom had one and I hopped in and played around but planned to test drive one. I was met by an amazing lady that helped me get ready for a test drive. License? Yep! Training video for safety? Of course! She walked me out to the garage and gave me a rundown of all the features which seem like a lot until you realize it's easy. Let me drive for 45 minutes on the local, minor and major roadways. I was able to try autopilot - creepy at first but extremely well done. I almost got lost finding the garage however navigation knew right where to go in the domain. No pressure sales. Chatted a bit with other staff regarding their personal experiences with some having them for a year now - all positive and very real responses. The agents are eager to sell you a car and will be 100% available prior to the sale. The moment you sign, it's over. No response, no calls, nothing. What's worse, Tesla sent the registration papers so late that we had to pay a $150+ fine to the Travis County Tax Assessor's office. Their processes are are unnecessarily complex and inconvenient. They are not at all transparent about how poor their post-sales service will be. If you call, you will end up pushing buttons in a phone tree to ultimately be told to send an email. And when you email, you will get no response. When you go into the service center on Research Blvd for help, agents there are rude and condescending. Be forewarned that though you can buy overpriced accessories, you cannot buy any parts from Tesla. My family and I have worked in the car industry for many years. As a GM, if these Tesla sales and service agents worked in my dealership, I would be compelled to fire all of them for misleading customers and being rude to clients. I'll do my best not to sound like a complete fan boy, but the level of customer service we received from Neil was/is simply outstanding. I've purchased a bunch of cars before ranging from cheap to high end. It's always been slightly uncomfortable no matter what fancy coffee they have in the show room... This Tesla dealership is a completely different sales experience, and that is appreciated. I first inquired a few months ago walking by the store, but didn't really have the time for a test drive so I just gave my cellphone number and asked to be in touch in the future when I have more time. Neil was both professional and inviting over text, and when we scheduled our test drive it was super easy. He gave us a recommendation, showed us a few of the important features, handed us the keys and told us to have fun. The model Y is such a great value, we had a friend of ours tag along and by the end of the drive he decided he'll also be buying one. The Good Friendly, professional, and attentive staff. Positive ambience at the showroom. The Bad I ordered a Tesla X with multiple options in October of 2021. I had not test driven one (but did a 3 and Y, cause that's the only thing Austin had available for test drives). I did not like the Y's and 3's interior but was told the X is supposed to be a lot better and is considered "high end". I figured I'd test drive one before I purchase the vehicle. A week later, I asked to change the color on my order and was told I'd have to pay an extra $5000 (despite both colors costing the same). That was Tesla's first faux pas. I bit the bullet figuring my current color choice is not too bad. Almost every 2 weeks thereafter, I would check with Tesla (via showroom, website or by emailing/texting the sales team) to see if there is a model X I can test drive. As of today (7/6/2022), I still have not test driven one. In June of 2022, Tesla reaches out of the blue asking me to pay promptly for my Tesla (given only 2-3 days - I need longer to move money around for that wire transfer). I was surprised and started liquidating some assets so I can issue the wire, but I was not going to pay $113k+ for a vehicle I have not yet test driven, given I had recently seen many negative reviews online about the new model X (the yoke, including the touch honk and signals, I believe are a terrible faux pas by Tesla), and despite my accepting potential range anxiety, also saw many orders were being delivered with significant defects (doors not aligning, trunks not aligning, other cosmetic defects, etc.) - Also, I have been driving plenty of high-end cars (Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, etc.) the past 5-10 years so I had high expectations of the interior - and from what I gathered from the videos, the interiors looked relatively cheaply made. So I asked the sales team if a test drive was possible (I wanted to see things first hand) - they said no. They said, and I quote "None of our showrooms across North America have a Model X for test driving. You might have luck with your local Tesla owners club, or a third party app. We apologize for the inconvenience." Seriously Tesla? You want me to pay over $113k (plus tax and registration) for a car I never have test driven, and despite all negative reviews about recent deterioration in manufacturing quality? Even if I did venture out and rented (at great cost) a Tesla X from a private owner using one of the "apps" they suggested, the bookings are weeks out, and are not the Tesla year I would be taking possession of (pre-2021). This is ridiculous. The sales team also confirmed my actual vehicle is in Austin, but they would not let me inspect it at their warehouse prior to paying. So I let them place the order on hold. Today, I get an email suggesting if I do not confirm I am ready to complete my purchase, they will cancel my order and I would forfeit the $250 fee I paid when I ordered the vehicle. They gave me ~11 days to do so. So, if I test drove an X and still like it, am willing to pay in full and take possession - but if not, I must go by what I have seen on YouTube (and the like) and decline the purchase. What company believes in their products' quality and does not allow customers to test drive before buying? Not even inspect the vehicle for defects? The whole thing feels sketchy, and that is before purchase. What impression/predictions should they expect to leave with buyers about their after-sales experience? I am very disappointed with this whole experience and am surprised many are ordering Teslas blindly. We had a poor experience with the purchase process. The Tesla sales and support team rep: 1. Provided an incorrect MVPA - which led to a delay in which our delivery kept being pushed back. 2. Informed us the name on the insurance was incorrect which led us to request 2 binders and hours of dealing with our provider. In the end, the first one was accurate and Tesla was the one providing false info. 3. Offered an initial incentive 1 year free supercharging, 3 months self-driving in 2020. Then confirmed it in 2021, only to have them tell us they cannot fulfill it after we had processed the insurance and well into purchasing process 3. When our payment finally processed, after the delivery was rescheduled 4 times, the salesperson promised he would coordinate final delivery tomorrow. When I messaged him the next day, he said he was on vacation and I'd have to call their customer service myself Overall it took us over a month and a half to purchase a tesla from when we first entered the shop. The dude scheduled a test drive for model 3 and I tagged along because that means I'll get to ride in it and drive it. If you're busy, be sure to schedule yourself enough time for the test drive. In fact, I'm pretty sure you have to have an appointment to test drive. You get to take your choice of model for a spin and trust me, you want to test out all the fun/cool things it has to offer before purchasing. We took it on the toll flyover using the autopilot and wow was that scary and at the same time, very cool. The fun part is Tesla doesn't feel at all like a sketchy dealership, like I'm used to. They don't pressure you to buy anything, and you can't just buy one that day to take home immediately anyway. Once he finally decided to pull the trigger and buy a model 3, he built his car with all the features desired from home on his computer and the car arrived to our house in two and a half weeks. The Tesla guy delivered it by driving it to our house, chatted about the car for a bit with all the things you need to know and then got an Uber back to Tesla. There are two cars in the showroom, the model S and the retired Tesla Roadster, which they no longer make but can be purchased used. The small store displays a wealth of information about the technology and there is cute merchandise, especially the children's stuff. They also have a designated Telsa charging station in the parking garage, 2nd floor. Hmm, why do I feel so invisible when I walk into here? I'm going to assume that I look young so maybe I may not look like a person for whom the Tesla is marketed to. Seriously, there were plenty of staff members chatting with "potential" customers, all too involved in their conversations to notice me, even when I was holding their Tesla charging cable. I ordered a Model Y in July 2021. They told me at the time to expect delivery in September 2021. They apologized for the long wait (lol). In August, the delivery date slipped to Oct 2021. In Sept it slipped to Dec 2021. In Nov it slipped to Feb 2022. Now I am being told it will be April 2022. First, 9 months is too long to wait. I have a hard time believing there were 9 months of backlog when I placed my order. Second, give me a firm delivery date. There are a finite number of cars ahead of me on the backlog. You know how many cars you make per day. Calculate my delivery date, and stick to it. My suspicion is that my old delivery date comes with locked-in pricing that is much lower than people ordering more recently. So Tesla is moving newer orders ahead of me to get the higher revenue. Advice: Don't order a Tesla until they get better transparency on delivery dates. Once I get the vehicle, I will probably rate the product 5-stars. But based upon my experience so far, it's 1-star. read more

This is the 2nd Tesla location we have visited and it's the same type of low level customer service. For such an expensive vehicle you would think service would be amazing. As soon as we walked in the customer service reps (they're not sales reps) just looked at us in a "ugh what are you doing here" way. When they finally just asked "uh do you have an appointment..." after test driving the Y we realized the car is trash yes it goes fast and is a cool EV but after reading up on the vehicle and seeing how awful the service is we did not move forward with our purchase. If I could leave zero stars I would. I ordered my Tesla model Y in June. I've never driven a Tesla and honestly was apprehensive. My husband being all excited I decided to go for it- the design is cool and basically as far as Tesla goes the buck stops there. I went to the show room.... Neither of the two guys even got up off their seats to talk to us. We were looking at the various options and literally the jerk working just lifted his head when I had to yell a question across the room. So right there we knew- Tesla customer service especially at the domain was shit. I had scheduled a test drive and made it clear I really want to test drive the car before my car gets here- what if I don't like the drive or if it's not for me?!?? Well... of course Tesla cares more about $$ than customer service so they sell the test drive car three days before I get to try it. Well... I go there and I ask please get me rescheduled ASAP bc I don't want to waste time if I really hate the drive. The guy said as soon as they get a new car in they will call me to reschedule. A week passes.... Crickets. I call the Tesla phone number and they too tell me no car is in yet but they will make a note and reach out as soon as one becomes available..... crickets. Three weeks now- no one has called or anything. I have called three times over the last two days to reach the manager at the domain location -first time they got my # and said he would call.... Of course he never did. Second time I was on hold for over 20 mins and no one ever picked up the phone.... Hung up called again and they said "let me try to reach the manager" and again on hold with no end.... The Austin Domain location is terrible. Clearly their manager can't handle basic customer service issues and the sad part is I honestly think moving forward with receiving pick up on my Tesla is a very stupid idea... if this is their customer service before you get your car, imagine how non existent they will be when you actually have legitimate issues with the vehicle?!? As you walk along the main strip out the domain, not far from the worst Starbucks in Austin, you will come across this tesla sales center. When you enter, you will probably see 2 Tesla motorcars. As you know, they are both completely and totally electric, not hybrid. The charm of this place, is that it is not a car dealership, it is basically a place to try out the comfort of the Tesla, and an educational center, in order to understand how this automobile works from the inside out. Don't be intimidated if you don't have $100,000 to spend on a car. This is an educational center, and you will be treated with deep respect. Honestly, I came in looking and feeling like a down in the dumps hobo. After the kind respectful treatment I received here, I left feeling happy, confident, and optimistic. Oh my goodness! I want one, I want a Tesla RIGHT NOW!!!! Many of us have heard about the amazing Tesla cars, but haven't really been able to get up close and personal with one. This all changed for me last night while I was hanging out at The Domain here in Austin, TX. When we were walking around we noticed the Tesla shop and just had to go in and check it out. Here's what we found and fell in love with: 1. There is a beautiful Model S at the front of the showroom. You can get inside, play around with the huge 17in display console, and just poke around at everything....Just be careful not to drool all over the lovely interior! You can also look around the car and pop the hood and the trunk. That's when you will probably say out loud, "Where's the engine????" 2. That will lead you to the back of the store where they have a underbody and frame of the car. You can see the über-small engine, where the batteries are located in the bottom, and just how beautifully efficient this car really is! 3. Informative staff in the store can help answer any questions you have about the car or the company, except pricing info. Texas is in a battle with Tesla to be able to sell cars directly to the public instead of dealers, which is why they can't talk about sales info. You can however go online and find out anything you need. Luckily in Nevada, where I am currently from, you can buy a Tesla any time you want! 4. They have all of the interiors on display so you can touch and feel the leather, the wood accents, and check out all of the colors. Again, wear a bib so you don't drool on all of the pretty stuff. 5. Of course, they have plenty of Tesla swag you can purchase like shirts, cups, and even baby clothes. If you are close to The Domain at all, get over here just to go check out a Tesla in person. Love my Tesla -- and Tesla service! I called yesterday with a service issue: my key fob batteries kept draining - leaving us with no batteries about once ever other day! A big problem when you drive an electric car. The amazing MyTesla app helped us cope, but obviously this was a temporary fix at best. I call the Telsa Service Center and they fit me in THAT DAY. Then they worked thru whatever the issues were (fixed by another firmware update, I think) and looked the car over for any other problems. (none were found). They even washed the car before returning it to me. Huge shout out to the Service Manager & Assistant Manager who kept me informed throughout the process. I liked this place so much, I bought the car! I went by simply because I'm the resident gearhead among my geek friends. I like the sounds, the smells, and the whole visceral experience of burning fuel. I drive small sports cars and I do some legitimate racing on the side. I don't have a carbon footprint, it's more like a crater. But I knew I'd be asked if the car was a good buy, so I went to check it out. Now, this is a review of the business, not the car, so I'll just say that I bought the car in spite of it being big, heavy, American, and electric. I never would have even considered a four door luxury sedan. It's that good. And the dealership experience is just as good. I keep encouraging people to go check it out. There is zero, and I mean zero sales pressure. Part of that is Tesla's philosophy, but part of it is the law -- Texas won't even let them tell you how much the car on the floor costs (usually around $120k, depending on how its equipped). They'll let you play with a fully loaded Model S on the showroom floor for hours if you'd like. They'll walk you through every feature of the car. Answer every question other than pricing. Not once will they ask you to buy the car. Not once do they talk trade in or financing. Stay as long as you like, enjoy the car as much as you'd like. If you'd like to test drive one, you'll have to come on the right day, but it's the same thing. Show up, give them a license, and you're off and driving. It won't be a long test drive and you'll have an associate with you, but you're allowed pretty free reign of the car and again, no one will run a credit check or even ask if you can afford the car. It's like they don't care if you buy the car or not -- mainly, because they don't. Tesla is in the very enviable position of being supply limited, not demand limited. They can't build them fast enough to fill demand. All they want you to do is come in and experience the car so you know what it is and what it can do. It's so different than anything else on the road, you really do need that time without pressure to evaluate it. Ultimately, I bought one. I don't think I ever would have had the store experience not been so good and I hadn't been allowed such unlimited access to the car. Oh, and they give me free charging when I'm at the Domain, so that's nice. read more

Tesla service damaged my car in multiple places when I brought it in for a standard recall notice. Now the service department and their manager Anthony Martinez is ducking me and refusing to fix the problems they created. Horrible service. Do not buy one of their cars. My model is has 30k miles and i've had to take it in for service about 10 times since buying it. They act noble and caring until it comes to resolving an issue they created, then poof, they disappear. Turns out they are worse than the established brands. Took a P85 Model S out for a test drive this weekend with Matt as our "Co-pilot". Matt was awesome. He was super informative, laidback, and not pushy at all. Pretty much the exact opposite of the stereotypical car salesman. We scheduled the test drive online, but you may be able to just walk in and schedule a time that way as well. The showroom is plain, there's not a whole lot going on. The highlight is definitely the car, which I would have loved to see them driving on the sidewalk to get into the store. The next highlight is the station where you can mix and match the different color/trim/interior options with samples. Other than that, they have the typical car dealer items like a $50 logo branded thermos. The cars are amazing. ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!! The fastest car I've driven is a CTS-V (556 HP, 0-60 in 4.0 seconds) but the Tesla felt way quicker and was totally silent. I was amazed. The center console is one huge touchscreen and the GUI is slick. All the controls, knobs, and buttons are digital. It's easily the most technologically advanced driving experience I've seen and since it's built with software, Tesla has the ability to continually update and improve it over time. My recent visit to this showroom was awesome. After visiting here, I test drove a Tesla and it arrived within 7 days. It has been an awesome experience test driving the Tesla Model 3 here. I had setup an appointment earlier night. I arrived on time, and within 5 minutes the sales person attended me. He showed me around the showroom first and took me to a garage for the test drive. I think his name was Hunter. He was really nice and knowledgeable. He talked about even tiny details so well. He never hesitated to repeat himself whenever I asked for. He let us drive around the domain mall and on the Mopac highway. When we drove back from test drive, he explained what comes next. All the while, he never hurried. Seems like these guys do not work for any commission. I will recommend everyone to visit this showroom. They do a very good job with showing you around the vehicles and test drive.
